Nicolai Vorona

Timid Prophet

The training room would serve as a decent sanctuary for now, at least for those less able to defend themselves. Seeing two guardians fall already was... sobering. All he could think of was how vulnerable their children were now... and no matter what he wanted to do, he realized now it was completely pointless.

These two had been just as foolhardy as I had been until now... I can't let there be the chance that I end up the same way. What happens to a one day old infant when its only guardian dies? Just being in this situation was enough for him...

His eyes fell to the grey child in his arms, still whimpering against his fatigue. No doubt he was simply starving, but the bottle had been left behind, and it was useless thinking about trying to go get it. The poor thing would just have to go hungry for now. All Nicolai had to offer was his finger.

I'm sorry Wiko... He shook his head. I really don't want to think about this situation anymore... please just let this be over.

Yashi continued to stroke the girls hair until Zah leaned in to nuzle her. THen, the fox leaned in to nuzzle the Drow in return - a little chain of comfort. "She needs someone who understand," He agreed, head raising in time to see Kay gimp her way towards them.

The hosility had fled from his stance since this little escapade had started. Kay was still hurt and she was still moving - thus, alive. That was good. He, however, was not about to embrace her with open arms and start giggling as he had when he was younger.

So he watched her for a long moment, head tilted against Zah and his free hand falling to rest on his friends back. Contact was comfort. Zah needed him close right now and he wasnt going to go aide Kay unless SHE was on her death bed.

"Where're you hurt?" He called out to the limping girl, voice monotone.

Well, they didn't look like they hated her. "Foot," she said, "My own fault." The sidhe shook her head and came closer to them, looking at the pretty little girl. She had been so mean to her guardian.

God, she was going to feel that guilt forever, wasn't she?

"Is she...are you..." Coailiann faltered for a moment. Of course they weren't okay, why would she ask that? "Hurt...?" she finished lamely. She couldn't remember if any of the kids got hurt doing the battle.

The fingers running through her hair clinched it for Vana, quieting her chirps at long last. The vine girl was beginning to be calmed, thankfully; the tension in her shoulders unwound, and she no longer seemed to be pressing up against Zah quite so desperately. Her hands, however, did not loose their grip for even a second, even if the sense of desperation was beginning to taper off, albeit only by a bit.

Very, very slightly, the little girl nuzzled Zah back, before tilting her head gently to watch the on-goings between Yashi and Kay, distantly wondering at their interactions and grateful for something to occupy her mind. She was silent now, though seeming yet on the edge of falling into another bout of mournful fear.

Shira breathed unevenly in her sleep, waking up with a start to voices unheard and faces unseen by anyone else. She blinked sleepily while looking around, confused.

Calm down...calm down... She let out a shakey breath and started at her hands in her lap. For a moment there she'd thought the worst, and that the spirits had come back for them. I doubt we've seen the last of them. She stood up achingly and rubbed at the mark on her face she'd recieved from the shadows. But stressing about it now won't be of any help.

She looked towards where the others were gathered. Her heart clenched when she saw the children of those who'd fallen comforting each other. It was terrible that the children should have had to witness the fighting and all that was happening, let alone witness the ones who cared for them die. Shira wanted to comfort them, she truely did, but she just wasn't sure if words from a recent stranger would help them now.

Art had grown bored. She knew everything seemed fine now. In fact long before the elders even considered it she knew things would be fine. The entire situation had grown more fun rather than desprete. Somehow she knew what that meant. She just wanted to play now that everything was sorta ok.

But the tears had yet to stop. There were children, well a child younger than she and an elder who had lost family. She knew how that felt. She wobbled over as best as her two year old stumps of legs could manage to the group and she huged the large teen who seemed spider like and the small babe who seemed to be covered in vines.

The innocence of her action may appear outwardly that she wanted to join in what everyone was doing, and this would be exactly what it would seem to those who didn't know that Artemis had lost her first guardian, her first mommy. After the two inital hugs she cuddled into the group, knowing that having someone there who cared helped alot.

"They're not hurt," Yashi responded to Kays question for his friend as the drow and the vine-girl cuddled. "Do you know her name? We don't and--"

That's when the dark haired female wanted in. WHat the hell? She went to hug at Zah - the vine-one was being held by a very tall Drow boy so there was no logical way she could hug her either - and the fox boy bristled. Hostility that had once been aimed at Kay now channeled itself towards teh girl trying to pry in between their close-pressed frames and into the little group.

"What the hell?" The hand that wasn't resting on his friends back went to rest on the girls head, pushing her back and away. "What are you doing?" The foxes voice, once pitched to comfort for Zah, was now low and warning. He was big now and wouldn't hesitate to beat down a girl.

No one touched him or his friends in any way without permission first. "Back off."

Iamel had woken up, finally. He'd passed out from the strain of it all (although he would never, never admit that) and when he awoke, moved to find everyone.

Taylor! She was wounded! Still rather out of it, he moved haphazardly towards the woman, leaning down to squint at her. "You smell like blood and evil," He noted, wings fluttering and he sat down beside her. "Or maybe this whole place smells like evil. You ok
?"

Shira watched the little dark haired child attempt to share in the group hug that the children were in, and watched her get pushed straight out. Shira saw the look the fox child was giving the baby. Sensing a dispute she crossed to the other side of the room quickly and grabbed the dark-haired girl.

"Hey hey," She hoped that the little girl didn't object to being picked up.], "settle down. I'm sure she ment no harm, she's just a baby." She settled Artemis on her hip.

"I don't care." Yashimas voice was flat and he let the woman whisk the girl away. "Don't particularily like girls, either, so go away. It's been a BAD day."

The last part was sad in a protective little growl, fingers tightening on Zahs shirt and theother hand going back to vine-girls hair - the bit that wasn't bein nuzzled.

"Go away."

Oak watched as the one with pretty yummy white hair with dark skin moved over, but he wasn't the only one. Another with long ears and a very colorful outfit followed... although another eventually came into view. So many colors. Then... out of the blue the dark skinned boy lifted up the fern girl. Feeling a bit jealous, upset, and lonely that she was gone. Oak grunted. Wanted his own guardian to come to his aid and keep him company... but he wasn't any where in sight.

"Ahh.."
A tear began to roll down his bark covered cheek and his elf man wasn't anywhere in sight. Throwing his two stubby bark covered arms into the air. Oak grasped at the air. Signaling that he wanted out of the pin or he wanted the fern girl back to keep him company.

Kyocho was still rummaging through the training room. A quiver was found, but an bow had been missing still. One last place to look. That closet Kay had mentioned before. What should an elf do? Shrugging his shoulders strapped down with a quiver full of arrows. Kyocho approached the closet and continued his search.

"Eh..." Shira froze for a second at what Yashi said about disliking girls.

But....wait....that's not a girl? She thought with a bit of comical sense to it, regarding Yashima.

"W-well..." She shifted Art to her other hip and nodded her head towards the dark child currently being held inbetween the two older chldren. "Vana is a girl, is she not?" She let the question ring in the air for a second before adding, "And even so, please at least try and understand. There are others who have suffered as well. Nothing as terrible..." A slight sad face aimed towards the two darker children, "but hurtful none-the-less."

"I said shut the ******** up, lady. Vine-girl is quiet and cuddly and THAT one," His chin jerks, aiming at the girl, "Is bold and domineering and I swear to the gods, if you don't stop trying to reason with me, I will jump at you and be a very NOT happy fox."

He was still nearly growling at the girl, tail whipping behind him with a snarl. The fox was litterally two seconds away from attacking the girl, although violence was probably thelast thing that Zah needed to see.

" Calm down Yashi before you upset Zah or the baby" Kishi said softly, she understood his desire to protect Zah from anyone outside their circle but he was only making a nusance of himself right now. Of course she herself was on the edge of breaking down and just taking a swing at anything that so much as moved towards her so she wasn't really in a position to criticise hence her gentle instead of demanding tone. That and she had no desire to aggrivate the fox boy further.

Walking past Zah she squuzed his shoulder sbe kneeling down to smile gently at Art who rested on an unknown to her woman's knee " Hi Artemis it's ok Yashi is mean to all girls , it dosen't make you bad." Kishi had met Artemis before when art was a baby and had enjoyed cuddling and singing to the girl.

Well someone needs a good punch in the face. Was the first thing that came to Shira's mind as she regarded Yashi with a look of annoyance. She rarely ever said anything like this outloud- if she ever thought anything negitive she kept it to herself. A lesson she had taught herself when she was only a little older than Yashima was to be cautious.

It figures that she'd end up in an agruement with an unreasonable kid. Nothing ever comes easy.

"It seems someone already ISN'T a happy fox, throwing words and threats around like that. " She tried to keep a mocking tone out of her voice, and sighed while trying to keep away the headache that had yet to cease. Kishi advised Yashi to calm down, and Shira refrained from saying anymore as the woman spoke to the baby she held. She wasn't about to fight with a mere child.

"Artemis, hm?" Shira murmured to herself. She looked at the younger girl. "Do you know who their parent is?"

Coailiann winced at the hostility and went to her younger sister, poking her gently on the shoulder, "You okay?"

She didn't know why she was so worried about Kishi. She knew how to battle better than she did, anyway. Kay was sure Malen wished she'd go and train with them.

"Uhm...Artemis's mom is...Ariel...I think...?" She couldn't quite remember. All she remembered of Artemis was that she hadn't liked her as a baby, at all. She had been loud and she had cried and took attention away from her.

Nope, she hadn't liked her at all.
