The reactions of two of Cheria's friends were understandable, though she felt a bit uncomfortable about it. Avonlea didn't want to take attention away from the fun. When Marx and Rose introduced themselves, Rose doing so from inside her Delphox's fur, she gave a smile. Hopefully she was hiding her discomfort."Yes. I'm Avonlea, though Cheria here has taken to calling me Avon. And, this is Liliana."Avonlea pointed to her flower as Liliane sat up, coming into view of the others. Looking down at the sleeping Kangaskhan baby, Avonlea decided to safe her introduction for later."Char...."Mikhail looked at the sand and kicked it a bit before laying down. It was so warm on his belly~!"Ah~. This is great~."

Finally, Kraven returned to the Wheel of Fortune. Her luck had been pretty good lately, so she figured this would be pretty good too. Since all three of them going at once didn't work, she decided only one of them should give it a go. Unfortunately, by the time she'd reached for the wheel, Torch leaped from the ebon-haired trainer's shoulder, and onto the wheel, using his weight to spin the wheel as he fell. He jumped off right before he fell all the way down, and the three of them watched as the wheel slowly spun to a stop. Sadly, their luck hadn't improved since last time it seemed, as it ultimately landed on a three. Though disappointed, Kraven still took the tickets regardless. Off to the next game, she guessed.

Marx winced as he heard Rose react as well, hoping Cheria's friend didn't take offense. He blinked, though, frowning a bit in confusion when Avonlea didn't take the offer for a handshake, but easily dropped his hand to his side, only to bring it up and lace his fingers behind his head as was typical for him. He glanced over at Cheria, tilting his head to the side, trying to quickly adjust to the unique woman in front of him. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, even though he likely was, but it was a sight one certainly wasn't accustomed to. "Don't apologize! We were just sitting down to get some food. Are you guys hungry?" he offered, giving a grin.
He dropped his hands back to his side, turning back to Avonlea, this time looking her in the eye with an easier smile. It was still a little odd, looking at someone to find a flower blossoming from where their eye would normally be, but he could accept it. It was actually kind of interesting! He wondered how it got there... but at the same time, the idea seemed a little unsettling. Did a seed get into her eye somehow? Or... He decided not to think about it, nodding and giving a friendly smile. "Nice to meet you, Avonlea! Or, do you prefer Avon?" he asked, tilting his head to the side as she mentioned it. She gave a wave to the flower pokemon. "You too, Liliana," he added.
He shifted, looking back at the other pokemon, and then to the two girls. "We were just talking about whether to look for some of the treasure that's apparently found on the beach, or go swimming, or what, but we can wait if you guys need to get something to eat first?" He grinned, noticing Mikhail. "Glad Flygon's not the only one enjoying the sand." The dragon pokemon had almost immediately slid down onto her belly upon reaching the warm sand, practically purring, the egg carefully nestled with her tail curled around it as she sunbathed. The sand reminded her so much of the sand from her home desert in Hoenn...
Basil, meanwhile, finished his food, darting back off to continue playing some of the games. He was oddly determined to get more of the tickets, but unfortunately only managed to get three from the arcade games. This was just not his lucky day at all...

Rex made no hostile movements, just settling down in the sand with a low growl, keeping a sharp eye on the two new comers. Kuno, however, ran like a bullet towards the two females. As the Mightyena got closer, he got up on his back paws as if he was gonna jump on them, but he made no contact and it was more a gesture of excitement at meeting new people. He sniffed around Cheria and Avonlea, circling them with his tail wagging the whole time. His dark coat was dusted in sand from his digging around.
Chifaera stayed behind his trainer and Fynx, but turned his head to look over at Flygon. She had his sibling! The egg seemed in good care though, at least. "Fafafafafa" the fairy dragon chittered a bit in flygon's direction, more a greeting than actual conversation.
Fynx chuckled a bit as her trainer hid her face against her, shouting apologies and an introduction. The Delphox patted her back until the red head pulled her face away. Rose, even after pulling away from her starter, clearly avoided looking at Avonlea's face. She didn't want to end up staring at it and being rude. "A-avonlea. It's nice to meet you... Um, this is Fynx, and that's Kuno sniffing at you." Rose responded, looking off to the side. She offered an apologetic smile. Fynx waved at Avon as she was introduced, Kuno giving bark like sound. Auriel, who had taken to the sky as soon as he was let out, drifted down to attempt to land on Rose's head, but upon realizing he was too big for that now, settled for landing before her. "Silly bird~ This is Auriel. If you want to know the others, feel free to ask." the red head added, tempted to just jump into the fluffiness that surrounded her shiny altaria.

Things started off a little better, at least, as the duo tried the ring toss, earning five tickets with a sigh of relief. They exchanged a glance, then moved on, deciding to try a few more games before they would try and find their trainer.
Which likely wouldn't be difficult, given he was lounging on a bench, looking up at the sky with a frown. He was starting to seriously reconsider his recent decisions. Sending Lelanna and Cyndaquil to the day care was probably a good idea, in that it would train them up, but now he had so many pokemon he wasn't sure what to do with them all, and if he was being honest, Lelanna and Cyndaquil were the only ones he really cared for. They were part of his original team; these pokemon weren't. He was proud of the progress some of them had made, but... did he really want to train them all? Crimeny, did he really want to use them to battle gym leaders? Not really... No. He sighed, staring up at the sky, a frown on his face. Perhaps he had made the wrong choice here...

While Kail considered his recent choices, his pokemon were definitely feeling the relief of some better luck. After Oshawott's mostly success at the Ring Toss, Fritz was able to continue the trend and win seven tickets at the arcade games. He jumped down, handing the tickets to the more dexterous water pokemon. That was twelve tickets already-- almost doubling the amount they had from their far less fortunate run. Hopefully they would be able to get enough this time, that it would make up for the previous questionable outcome, and the total would be at least... decent enough.

It looked like Jin was pretty insistent on hearing about this stuff as well, though he was more vocal about it than Darren was. Did Sable honestly expect that they'd get hit by a bolt of lightning if she talked about Shadow Pokemon....? Maybe she was just being metaphorical. At least, that's what Darren hoped, shooting the sky a nervous glance for a moment as Sable took in a deep breath and the started to talk.
She started off with Darren's question about the mayor, since that one was easier to explain. To put it simply, no one expected the boss of a crime syndicate to be a jolly fat mayor of a peaceful town. Darren nodded lightly, moving his head slightly from side to side as he debated it out in his head before coming to the conclusion that she made a good point. If he thought of crime organization leader, fat and jolly weren't exactly the first two descriptions that came to mind. Fat and jolly better suited a certain someone in a red suit up in the north pole. Either way, the facade would have continued had there not been apparently some threat to the organization. Was that threat one of the people in the video, or a different group of people?
Darren supposed it didn't matter, instead he focused on Sable again as she tried to explain the concept of Shadow pokemon. According to her, they were just normal pokemon, but Cypher did something to them to cut off their emotions. Darren blinked in surprise. Cut off a pokemons emotions? Was such a thing really possible? He could see why that might be attractive to a crime organization though, without emotions, pokemon would become complete and total weapons... As Sable put it, nothing would hold them back from even the most sickening commands. Darren shuddered. Sable didn't know how they achieved such a thing, nor did she want to know. "That sounds.... Horrible." Darren shook his head. Now he understood why she was so unwilling to talk about it, but Darren wanted to know, he needed to know.
"It's no wonder Ho-Oh got involved.... Shadow pokemon... That's an atrocity for pokemon kind." He shook his head in dismay and placed a hand on Sable's shoulder. "I'm sorry. Thank you for telling me, and I'm so sorry...." He insisted mournfully. He couldn't imagine the things she'd seen, or what she had to go through.
Bolt on the other hand was happily playing more arcade games and winning another set of 7 tickets for Darren, though he had yet to beat his high score. Hmph, he was just going to have to keep trying then.

Bolt would have to keep trying to get a new high score, but not right now. Instead, he took a break to go stand in line and spin the fortune wheel to see what he got, which was another seven tickets! That was a lot easier than having to beat a bunch of levels in the arcade, but still, standing in line wasn't all that fun.

Ooof... Just when they thought their luck was getting better, it seemed to have ran out. Oshawott puffed his cheeks out in irritation, but took the two consolation tickets from his failed attempt at darts. Crimeny, that.... didn't go well at all. Both were getting a little nervous, though there was no sign of Kail, who was still lounging on his bench a little ways away. They would probably play a few more games... but if they had to, they'd give up and turn in their small bundle of tickets.

Five tickets from the wheel of fortune wasn't bad, but it still wasn't quite as much as the two pokemon had been hoping for. They exchanged a glance, before Oshawott stubbornly trooped off to the fishing game, going for the golden magikarp yet again. Fritz sighed, trotting along behind the water pokemon. He was pretty sure this wasn't going to work... after all, it was impossible. Shouldn't they go for an easier one, so they at least had a better chance of ending with more tickets? He looked around, searching for any sign of his trainer-- and skillfully tripped over his own paws as he did so, tumbling and coming to a perfect faceplant into the ground right by the fishing game. He shook his head, sitting up and pawing the dirt off his face. Geez...

Fritz finished cleaning his face off and looked up to see Oshawott positively fuming over his loss. The little guy sure was getting worked up over this. Was it because he just hated losing? Or was it because their trainer was, well... Kail. Personally, the fennekin had had fairly positive interactions with the trainer, but that didn't mean he was blind, or had missed how he generally treated them. And he'd consistently ignored any of the fox pokemon's tripping and overall klutziness, even when it held him back and made him have to run to catch up with the trainer. There was a distinct lack of empathy or interest that practically radiated from him... but at least he seemed able to... somewhat acknowledge the accomplishments of his pokemon. Sometimes.
With Oshawott gripping the consolation ticket in one little paw, and the others they'd earned in the other, the two started to look for their trainer. It wasn't very long before Kail found them, though, stepping out from one of the stands to stand in front of them. Oshawott, face burning with a furious blush, shot his little fists up to hand the tickets over, which Kail took, an oddly passive, cold expression on his face. Oshawott didn't seem to notice-- he wasn't even looking at him. Fritz, though, tilted his head questioningly to the side.
"We're leaving," he said simply, and this time both pokemon looked up in surprise, only to be returned to their pokeballs. Kail put the pokeballs away, looking down at the tickets, and pulling out the others he had got. It was too bad... he had a pretty good sum here. But, he had made up his mind on what he was going to do, and with the holo caster message he just got, he wasn't going to waste any time with it. He would go and get Cyndaquil and Lelanna... he would return Oshawott... and he'd figure out what to do with the others. Maybe he'd even keep a few, he wasn't sure... but he wasn't going to stick around the festival, so the tickets were useless.
He organized them into a two stacks, thumb and index finger holding each end to bend them, before snapping in, unleashing them into the air, and scattering them to the wind. Who knows, maybe they'd go to some good use for someone else... or something.

Jin shuddered at Sable's explanation on what Shadow Pokemon were. Being a Pokemon himself, the thought of whatever torment he'd have to be subjected to in order to seal off his feelings flat-out scared him. He hadn't exactly had a happy past, but there hadn't been anything so terrible that he wanted to stop feeling any sort of emotions."That... That's just wrong... No wonder that Ho-oh was pissed,"the disguised dark type muttered as he slowly paced back and forth behind where Sable was sitting."But... It's not like they can turn anything into a Shadow Pokemon, right? There's a lot of powerful Pokemon out there, after all."Jin was actually starting to sound worried as he spoke, really hoping he was right and that there were things that could resist whatever process they went through.
Sable shook her head lightly, barely noticing the comforting hand that Darren placed on her shoulder."If there is, it'd be a very small percentage of Pokemon. They've even managed to turn legends into these things. I personally know of two, but I'm not going to be so naive to think there weren't others,"the teen answered, then shuddered again."At least ways have been found to fix it... But most people don't seem to be able to handle having even one Shadow Pokemon. And most of the ones that can... Well, they're usually the bad guys anyway, so they typically don't want them purified. There are a few people that are able to handle a Shadow Pokemon without being affected and actually do want to see them turned back to normal, but those are few and far between."Sable shook her head lightly."Right now the best that can be done for them is to confiscate them from their trainers and put them under the care of someone actually able to handle them to try and get the Pokemon to open up again. It's not the nicest thing to do, but it's better than leaving them as they are and potentially putting their trainers at risk."
Sable took a couple of deep breaths, thumbing through some other files in her P*DA without actually looking at the screen."Sorry... I've probably said a lot more about the subject than you wanted to hear... But yeah, it's horrible what happens to those Pokemon, and that's the other part of why I'm out here training instead of being back in Orre."The teen shifted a bit, wishing she had something sweet so that she could munch or sip on that to take her mind off the bad thoughts talking about those Pokemon brought up."See, the other reason Cipher was able to do what it wanted so easily was because there was hardly anyone able to stop them. We've only got a handful of cops in the whole region, so anything like this getting fixed is more because some vigilante decides they've had enough rather than any official action by the police. I figure one more cop might not help much, but it certainly wouldn't hurt as long as I'm not incompetent. With how strong the Pokemon of some of these operatives are, though, I need to make sure I've got a good team of my own. And a way to pick out Shadow Pokemon from normal ones."
Once again Oaken made an attempt at fishing out a Wailmer. The little ball whale fell back into the paper and broke through, though, making the attempt a failure. Still, that earned him one ticket, which wasn't too terrible. It just meant he needed to try harder the next time. The Servine was about to head to the next game booth or tent when a ticket smacked him in the face! And then another! And a horde of tickets ended up being blown into him, Rose, and Sable's Beedrill. After some scrambling, the trio managed to assemble a total of fifty tickets, which they decided to split between the two sets so that both "teams" got twenty-five each.
{{OOC: XD He wouldn't need to beg. She'd just hop off and be all "Yeah, sure. Just try not to fly off a cliff with it." XD Maybe I'll have her ask her parents to send it over when she transfers the tiny Clampearl Rose caught and the aquarium stuff over to them. Assuming stuff like that could be transferred through the PC. XD Although considering the main characters can fit bikes in their backpacks, I think storage technology will let it happen. XD
Yep, and Sable is much more of a fan of his that she'd ever publicly admit. If she were older (or he were a bit younger) she'd actually have a major crush on him. XD That moment when you struggle to keep from fangirling over someone so that you can get to the important stuff. And yeah, best opening scene EVER for a Pokemon game! XD

Basil grimaced at the very poor score he got in his darts game. At least there wasn't anyone else here to see it... well, no one he knew. Vaporeon seemed more interested in the beach now, or at least the food, but he was fairly sure it would just be a matter of time before some of the other pokemon decided they wanted to play. Perhaps he should be back there, actually, helping keep an eye on things... Taking his two tickets, he moved off, considering that, and deciding to play another game before making sure his idiot trainer hadn't lost one of his pokemon again or something...

Darren had to wonder how a group of people could possibly be able to capture and change a Legendary like that, but Sable knew for a fact that it had been done not just once, but twice. Thankfully there was a way to help the Shadow pokemon back to a normal state, but the people who could do it were few and far between, so depending on how many shadow pokemon Cypher made, it would likely be a lengthy rehabilitation process, not to mention there was likely quite a few unwitting trainers out there that had shadow pokemon and didn't realize it. With improper care and lack of knowledge or connections to the right people to confiscate the pokemon, it could potentially end very badly....
Darren shook his head as Sable apologized for probably saying more than they wanted to hear on the subject. "No, don't be. These things are hard to talk about but... They kind of need to be. Learn from the tragedy, that sort of thing..." Darren insisted in a shoddy attempt to turn things around. Sable went on though, explaining that the main reason Cypher was able to do as they pleased was mainly because no one was really able to stop them. So she wanted to be a cop huh? That was a noble profession. Of course first she needed a strong team and a way to pick out the shadow pokemon from the normal ones, but hey, building a team was probably a better place to start, since there wasn't much use in being able to see shadow pokemon if she wasn't strong enough to take them herself, especially since it seemed mainly Cypher goons would be the ones with shadow pokemon under their possession.
Honestly Darren could understand why most stayed out of Cypher's way. It was the same issue with Void... They were strong, ridiculously strong, powerful, and well hidden. Heck, even Darren and his adopted family didn't know where headquarters were located, they just knew how to call in. "I think you're going to do great." Darren insisted optimistically. Maybe he was a little on the blind hope side, but one well prepared cop to add to the ranks was more helpful than nothing, right? "Who knows, maybe you'll even inspire others to take a stan--" Darren was cut off as a screech rang out higher up the mountain. "What.... What was that....?" Darren scanned the sky, but didn't see anything.
