Personally I think it is that Linkin park has taken something that can be concidered a tired genra, and made it new, recreating it and mixing in their own sort of flare that makes them all original. One of my friends said that they are like the representation of teenaged agnst. nah, their something different, their lyrics ahve such a deap meaning to them that it can be easy to overlook what they are attempting to conve. Mel has basically the things that Make LP who they are, a great band that has revolutionized the genra of music that they play in, as well as created a whole new sort of genra.
Also, they are a band that will go back and reinvent themselves, constantly attempting to make their next song not just be a remake of their last ones, and although they have remixed their music, they add a new flare to it that it hadn't had before, like listening to the difference between 'in the End' and 'Ente E ND', they are like the same song, and yet tottally different songs intirlt, the second having almost closur to what the first was attempting to convey.
Another thing is that they are not afraid to bring in outside help with their music. Reanimation is an amazing collaboration of almost 30 different people remixing the already amazing music that LP had created, that to me, is awsome. Each song not only retains a good deal of the LP vibe, but it all different in it's own since, each mixer making the song their own, something I truelly apreciate.
Something else I enjoy, is another thing that others have yet to mention. the music videos. Sheash, if the songs saying one thing, the msuic video often brings in something else as well, another message they are trying to convey. Breaking the Habit, the song details Chester's younger days and it's about his bouts with drug abuse, as well as the depressional stages of his life, a very deap song that originally was meant to be another song like session, no lyrics. The msuic video as well, shows the life of several different groups of people as well as Chester himself, having thrown himself off of a building, but another thing is that all of the buildings as well as the odd mechanical devise behind the band, are all technologically advanced. What does this say to you? I have my ideas, but I'd like to hear yours, lol.
All together, LP isn't afraid to try something new, and they dont think themselves as the next metalica and what not, from what i ahve seen, they see themselves as a group of people that have that do what they do best, make great music.
