.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. [Training Session] Part 2 After reading the paper, Erol looked up with a question mark over his head. None of it made sense to him. Physics and other geological crap that he could only hope to learn. He let the paper slip from his hand and flutter to the floor. "Uh...what's all this mean?"
Akila laughed kneeling to pick up the paper and place it on the bench off to the side. "Don't worry, right now you have other things to concentrate on. I just wanted you to have this available to you." Sitting down on the bench she patted the place next to her where Erol quickly came over and sat. "What all that meant was the basis of your abilities. You have a lot of power trapped in you." She said, poking his chest. "We need to find away to get it out of you...but before we do that. You; need to learn how to control it."
Erol crossed his eyes in confussion looking up. "Control it? How? I'm not sure how." He stood up focusing his hands out in front of him. He wasn't consentrating so nothing happened not even a flicker of energy.
"First you need to settle down. Go stand in the middle of the room." She waited as he did as told. "Now sit." He looked up at her but did as told wondering how this was going to do anything. "First I want you to visualize in your mind a very sad moment. Something that made you hurt..."
Erol took one last look at Akila then closed his eyes he allowed himself to be clear of all things going back in time to visualize what he was instructed. A sad moment? Something that hurt me? As he searched visions began to flicker across his mind, moments from the very first thought to current times. The one time in his life that truly made him sad was ....
You're no son of mine... The phrase was echoed over and over as Erol began to fight against this sadness this pain that grabbed at his heart. He had loved his father dearly but to hear that come from him was not easy to get over.
Akila was watching carefully noting Erol's expression had reverted to one of distress. He had obviously found what she had asked. She knew above all what that moment was but she had to think past his hurt feelings for now. "Erol listen to my voice, don't fight what you feel right now. Allow it to wash over you, if you must cry do so. But hold on to that emotion, harness it and let it be your guide."
Erol listened to Akila's soft southern voice she was so calming sometimes. As the visions disappeared the pain remained. He could feel rather than hear his father's disownment. He did feel like crying, so he did allowing himself this measure of weakness. Soon it was becoming too much as a tinge of something in the back of his mind flickered. "Akila somethings wrong...I don't like this..." he said growing scared.
"Calm down. If I'm correct its only your subconcious mind hacking your powers. When ever you are in distress your subconcious will take over your powers to help protect you or destroy whatever it is that threatens you." Akila walked near but stayed at a safe distance. If he didn't keep hold of himself things would get out of control and she might get hurt. "Whatever you feel allow yourself to feel it. Go toward that power allow it to fill you. Just keep listening to my voice...I'm right here."
Erol took a deep breath to calm himself as he allowed his mind to travel. The tinge he felt was growing stronger as something in his mind began to loosen. He could hear Akila's soothing encouragements keeping an anchor on his nervous fear. "I think..." he began but stopped short as he felt a rather than saw a wall. Something was blocking him from further progression. He tried pushing through but it held fast. Once more struggle and soon this feeling pushed back. "Ach..." he cried, twitching slightly. It was very similar to a headache the one he'd experienced at the mall. "I don't like this..." he spoke his breathing irregular as the pain shot through him again. "Akila! Please can I stop?"
Akila on the other hand was not satisfied he wasn't trying hard enough and only produced small trimmers that were barely noticable. He was so close something was holding him from completion. "Erol!" she shouted. "Come on you're so close just push a little harder. What is it that makes you angry, what makes you sad, feel these things out! If you don't learn to call upon these emotions then you won't be able to take hold of your powers. You'll be a prisoner in your own body." She stood watching the expressions on his face. "Think of a life and death situation... if someone held someone you loved hostage and threatened their life what would you do. How would you protect them."
"I don't know..I can't... I don't want to do this. Please lets just take a break." Erol shouted everything was scarying him. Life and death? Hostage? Why did everything have to fall on his shoulders? He was only a kid, 10 years old and it seemed the whole world was counting on him for salvation. "I don't know."
Akila sighed he wasn't trying hard enough and she didn't see the point in pushing him. "Fine." She almost snarled, turning around to hide her disappointment. She had thought Erol just need a little push to get in the right direction but perhaps she was pushing too hard. "Go get cleaned up, I'll cook dinner."

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. [Training Session] Part 3 What? What's going on, was she mad at him? Erol opened his eyes to find Akila's back toward him. She was shuffling around with a few items on the bench, picking up the search paper it surprised him to see her crush it in her hands. She let it fall to the floor where it rolled under the bench. Ever careful, he walked over to retrieve it looking up at Akila's back. "Are you mad?" he asked not willing himself to feel that sadness again.
"No I'm not mad...just..." she took in a deep breath then sighed tiredly. "Nevermind, lets go." She said walking off toward the house. She didn't want to upset the boy but this whole thing was frustrating. Did she not have the theory on his abilities correct. From the many times he through tantrums and had an attitude problem she could see that flicker of energy right under the surface. His powers had to be emotionally controlled, but what if she was wrong? What if all this pushing only served to aggitate the boy and bring unwanted harm. She walked on defeated, lost in thought. "I'll just have to do more research." she muttered out of earshot from Erol.
Erol on the other hand didn't know if she were mad or disappointed, perhaps both. No way was he going to go through the stage of being disowned again. He had lost his true family already, but Akila was suppose to be his new family. If fudging on his training were enough to upset her, what would she do if he continued to be a failure? "I'm not going to be disowned." He said softly, holding the crumpled paper he opened it again to read. None of it made sense to him but he wanted to at least take hold of it. Something on that paper had the key behind his powers....he just needed to understand.
"Fine. I will start my own research. I'll learn this crap if it kills me but I won't be disowned." All of this fired him up, thinking back to what Akila had surmised, if his powers were triggered through emotion then he had to pick the most basic of them and tried to bring out his powers through it. "For one thing I never feel anything happen at being happy and excited...but when I have negative emotions my powers seem to flicker. I can almost feel it." He spoke to himself walking back and forth to think things through.
"When thinking of my former family, it pisses me off and I always feel a boiling untapped surge of energy. But is that really my powers?" Sitting on the concrete flooring Erol chanced another go. "Fine. We'll just have to see what lays under the surface. Alright power of mine...come out and meet your master." Erol chimed he was being big but it would take more than that to control a power of his caliber.
Sitting silently he thought for a moment. "Emotions. Love, sadness, pain, anger, hate...there's so many. I couldn't even begin to think of what reaction they'd have on my control. I should probably deal with something easy, like love. Hmmm." Thinking it over, Erol closed his eyes and returned to the split second moment when he and his friends would have been crushed under a segment of concrete.
During the incident the only thing he could think was to protect his friends. Did he love them? Perhaps, yes, they were the most important people in his life. Seeing them hurt or worse would have not been acceptible. So in the process of that moment, his love for his friends were enough to protect them from the segment. Erol opened his eyes smiling. As he looked around he could feel a small shimmer of energy. But to prove he had control of it was another matter.
Returning to his thoughts he visualized another moment in the mall. After saving his friends he was concerned for their safety, did he protect them well enough? Turning to check them, eyes of fear had looked back at him. This brought on sadness. His friends were scared of him? Why? He'd only protected them and he was not going to attack them. At seeing the fear in his friends' eyes he felt sad very sad. And that had turned him off to using his powers... he didn't want anyone to fear him. He wasn't the kind of person to cause anyone harm least they attack him.
With new found hope Erol anaylized the situation. "Love is a key in turning it on...to protect those around me. Sadness turns off the flow of energy. I'm not a monster and would never hurt anyone one purpose." As he learned this, he could feel that subtle flow release itself.
While he was doing this, Akila had returned to get something she left and noticed Erol was toying with his powers. Did he really learn the secret? She remained silent listening to him muttering under his breath. So love and sadness were the basic emotions in turning it on and off. She smiled, it made sense to her, if he loved the person he was protecting well enough, his powers would most likely come to life ready to protect. And if his sadness for the situation were strong, his will to fight would dwindle along with his powers.
This got Akila thinking about other emotions. What would be a nuclear bomb of emotions and what would be most basic in training. "Hatred..." she breathed. If he were ever allowed to fuel his hatred for a situation it would most likely unlock unforeseen powers. She would do well to monitor the boy and keep him away from such a dark road. Until then a basic emotion for now was love and sadness. So long as he learned to tap these emotions he could keep control of his powers flickering on for any known reason.
Stepping into the facility Akila smiled. "Erol?" she called, the boy came near surprised to have been watched. "I want you to continue training. I was watching just now, you seem to be getting close to the basic on/off switches of your powers. So long as you know how to turn them on and off you will keep basic control over both your emotions and powers. So can you show me again?" she wanted to see if he could do it again at will if not he would need to continue more training. But at least he was getting an understanding if nothing else.
Erol smiled happy to see Akila wasn't upset with him anymore. He nodded in agreement going to the middle of the room. Closing his eyes he used the same visions as before but they didn't work like he wanted. To turn on his powers he had to love or care enough to want to protect someone. His former friends were of no concern to him now. As he thought back to that moment, he didn't find anything. And his powers remaind dormant. Opening his eyes he looked to Akila worried. "I can't. I don't know but its not working."
As he looked up then back at his hands he imagined something worse. "What if..." Closing his eyes again, he imagined a segment falling over Akila. In an instant his powers flaired to life, the thought of Akila being harmed was out of the question as he willed himself to protect her at all costs. Soon he found a vibration of energy flowing around her. What? "Akila? I uh..." that was strange when he'd saved his friends the energy was around him why is it around Akila now?
Akila laughed. She took a guess, if he was thinking of protecting someone he cared about the it all made sense. Whomever was in danger if he willed it enough that person would be protected, but it would leave him vulnerable to attack. Reaching a hand out Akila could fell the vibrations it tickled her hand as it coursed through her before she quickly snatched up her hand. "Okay now turn it off." Akila said realizing he didn't have control enough to make it less harmful to the one he was protecting. If she walked through the barrier now she'd probably be ripped to shreds by the vibrations. Well at least he knew how to bring it forth. Teaching him to solidify and make dense his powers was a whole other thing that she'd leave for later in the future.
Erol smiled satisfied with his work. As Akila reached a hand out Erol could feel the sudden jolt and it surprised him to learn his barrier was giving off harmful vibrations from within. This could be harmful to Akila, and that alone was enough for worry. Thinking back to his father, allowed for him the sadness needed to grow away from his powers. He didn't feel like training anymore all of a sudden, that pain was still too fresh. He sighed giving Akila a week smile as the barrier disappeared. "I'm hungry now...can we eat?" He asked. He was met with a comforting hand on his shoulders as Akila escorted him out of the facility for her famous gumbo.Power Control +1, Everyday Logic +1

The messenger shot an annoyed look at the letter in his hand. He wasn't sure if he liked delivering all these messages. And he had so many more addresses to go. He wondered what those governement guys were up to.
Sighing he walked over to the house and pressed the doorbell. When the door opened, he handed over the message. "Here ya go, m'am." He shuffled a bit. "I'm s'posed to be waitin' for yer answer." he stood back, awaiting the answer rather impatiently.
The letter contains the following message:Quote: Dear Akila, Tomorrow morning at 9.00 AM a meeting will be held where Erol will be able to meet with the other children under the Agency's care. This meeting will also be a group training session. Please let the messenger know whether you are interested or not. If not, you may ignore this message. If you are, a car will pick you up tomorrow at 8.30 AM and escort you to a building. The driver will give you the code needed for safe teleportation to 'Safe Haven'.
Sincerely, Charles ((If this message interrupts your ongoing roleplay, please continue to claim all post you need. AFTER that, PM the mule with the request to have the post removed and reposted.))

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. [Decisions] Erol & Akila After the meeting with Charles and the other guardians, Akila felt it was her repsonsibility to at least understand where Erol was in all this. If he was to take the place of the other Evos (supers) then she wanted to know if he was up to this, if he was really ready.
Making her way upstairs she knocked on his door...
"Come in." Was the muffled reply followed by a bit of laughter then a shout.
As she entered his room she found Erol on the Xbox playing Halo. He was really into the game. Rather than interrupt Akila sat back watching him play. She noticed how he was always in command sending the others on his team to do various tasks that would win them the victory. A soft smile came to her face, he was a natural leader but somehow she felt he wouldn't try to lead a group of kids otherwise..or would he?
Still as she continued to watch she noticed how he always had his players in prime areas for attack. When one man went down anothere was there to take up the empty space and keep the onslaught strong. "He's aggressive." she muttered realizing how he took charge he wasn't very subtle when it came to attack but he kept in the shadows making his way around until he got the drop on one of his enemies then rushed in further with the rest of his team. After the game ended he turned to address her.
"Hey what's up?"
"Well I wanted to talk to you about your training, mind turning that off for a bit?"
Erol smiled then told his team he'd be back. They groaned but didn't argue and he quickly signed off. "So what's wrong you seem serious."
"Yeah well..looks like there are some serious matters. I won't get into it right now. I want to know one thing."
"I already accepted if you are talking about the meeting with Charles. I want to do it." Erol said sternly.
"Are you confident in your abilities? I mean if you were to be attacked..no we, if we were to be attacked do you think you could protect us?" Akila made her way through the room then sitting on the bed and awaiting the answer.
He smirked and answered without missing a beat "Absolutely. I know I can protect you when the time comes."
Akila smiled. "Why do you say that?"
"Cause, if it meant you would get hurt then I have to do everything under my power to protect you right? So I know I'd win. Or die trying...at least that's what those sappy hero types say." He chuckled at that reaching over to grab his soda sitting on the floor.
"Alright, I won't argue with that. As long as you're confident with your abilities then its not my place to say otherwise. You just be careful in whatever you do, okay?" Akila stood heading for the door, she stopped for a moment only to smile. "Get back to your training."
Erol laughed turning his Xbox back on and returning to his game

.J O U R N A L E N T R Y. [Discovery] Erol Avery Today I was doing a little research on my powers... they deal with shock waves and in learning this I'm not very sure what exactly they do. I went to Dictionary.com to look it up and it seems I got two results.
Quote: 1. A large-amplitude compression wave, as that produced by an explosion or by supersonic motion of a body in a medium. 2. A violent disruption, disturbance, or reaction: Shock waves of revolution shattered the government. n : a region of high pressure travelling through a gas at a high velocity; "the explosion created a shock wave" [syn: blast wave] I'm still a bit confused. Most of my abilities seem to steam from the stronger emotions I have. For sure, it has a lot to do with my emotions but well, I've been feeling really stressed lately. Its like something inside me is yerning to get loose. Not sure if its my powers or maybe I'm over reacting.
Akila has been on me lately to keep up with my journal entries. She says this will help me to better understand what I'm going through. I guess it couldn't hurt to explain a few things. Mostly after my first training I felt like I had acomplished something but after eating and going to my room to rest; I felt...sick. Turning on my television the screen flickered and then poof the television exploded. I wasn't using my powers or anything it just went out.
Akila got mad at me but I explained what happened and she began to grow concerned. We ended up going out to get a new television. This time I was careful to only use it when I was in a better mood. Even still, the television exploded...again. So I no longer have one in my room and Akila has forbide me from using the one in the living room. That means no videogames. Not sure how the TV blew up but the computer and other electrical appliances seem to be fine around me. Guess its a fluke, hopefully this will pass and I can get my TV back.
**** In other news we are suppose to go to a group training, not really looking forward to that. I don't know the first thing about participating with others. I could blame it on Akila but I think its my own fault...slightly. Ah well hopefully this group session will go off without a hitch, I am curious to know what the others can do after all.Specific Knowledge, Shock waves +1

.J O U R N A L E N T R Y. [Training Recap] Erol Avery So after training I found out that I'm capable of doing a lot of things. I got paired up at the training session with Lorina. She seems nice enough and we did great together. While I destracted Dareborn, Lorina made herself smaller and managed to sneak up on the super. It was awesome...
My only problem is that when using too much of my powers I get tired and sick. There was this thing I tried out to, to make my powers a little less dense. It ended up making me sick and it was something Dareborn hadn't expected either. I couldn't think or even see what was going on. By the time I realized it Lorina had made her move and I was completely useless. Oh well... I am happy for her but I don't like being bested. I'll just have to train harder and get ahold of this new skill. And then I won't be so useless next time.
Hmm? Maybe I'll go talk to Akila and see about getting into some martial arts or self defense class. I want to learn some up close combat. With how easily I can keep someone away from me, what can I possibly do when they manage to get up close to me? This is all too much to think about. I'm going to the arcade to play some games... damnit. I still can't get a tv stupid powers. Training Gains: +1 on all but specific knowledge

.J O U R N A L E N T R Y. [Coming Home] Akila Zesiro It has been a while since stepping foot on the home front. I had to leave abruptly for whatever reasons and snatched up Erol with me. We went away to visit family...well more like burry them. It was hard for me at first but Erol was sweet to me, hugging me when I needed it most.
While we were away Erol surprised me by talking to a few of my old running mates. Bruce mostly, he was able to train the boy and give him a few pointers on how to fight. Mind you, Erol was given instructions not to reveal his abilities to anyone...he kept his side of the deal.
Though I did take him away from prying eyes to allow him time to let off some steam. I've noticed during our absence that Erol's abilities are always pushing and pulling the environment around him. When he isn't completely in league with his emotions his powers tend to run away from him causing a few if not mild disturbances.
He caused a few mini earthquakes in the neighborhood; good thing earthquakes are common in my that area so no one thought much of it. Though they were a bit freakish and some folks were beginning to wonder. My running mate Bruce arched a few brows at Erol from time to time but he seemed to be mostly in the dark. That's a relief.
So our trip was a bit uneventful considering it was a funeral run. I cried mostly while Erol sat back and watched the events in silence. I don't know maybe it was too much for him, but I couldn't just let him stay here alone so I took him along to meet my people.
At any rate he's tuckered out so I put him to bed. We'll get back to training once we both recovered from the jet lag.
[In response to my long hiatus] +1 on all physical
