Charcoal awoke in a fury. Fire exploded from him, scorching the walls of his cage and filling the room with awful smoke. His tail lashed, slamming into the bars. "How DARE YOU?!" He screamed, his burning searching for something to vent his sudden explosion of rage.
Finding nothing his head fell limply against his chest. He'd failed.
The child had been taken away and he had been easily subdued. His claws slashed against the front of his cage as he glared outward. How DARE they? He was proud and powerful! How dare they simply lock him up?!
All he had done was show compassion and they believed he'd hurt the human? If he wanted to kill her she would have been dead with his first breath! How stupid could those humans be? He slumped down and put his head in his large hands. He was tired of this game...
"The child... I have to talk to Bliss. I want to protect her." He voice out loud to himself in a mutter. "I want to know what they are doing with such a young one. She'll know..." He was trying to soothe himself, using the same tone his trainer used when he was beaten by another Pokemon. He could almost hear her voice...
"Its OK, Charcoal! You'll get 'em next time!" A laugh. "I know you won't let me down!"
He touched his emerald pendant. What he wouldn't give to have her back...

Charcoal stormed into his cage and gave looks that DARED the guards to screw with him. They kept their distance very nervous of his temper. They'd seen the two Pokemon explode on each other and weren't in the mood to be at the blunt of it.
The quickly shut the cage and darted off.
He slumped down, thumping his tail wildly against the floor. How DARE she say that the child was a replacement for his trainer! No one could replace her! How could he ever think that she of all Pokemon could understand what had taken place in that yard. He brought up a claw to rub one of his horns and breathed in and out deeply.
He did hear the cries at night. He did his best to ignore them. Why shouldn't he? They did nothing to fight the guards. He found himself wondering about the younglings and their parents. Were there families ripped apart by these humans? Sitting in separate cages staring mournfully at where the other might be?
No. Don't let it get to you. If you do that you'll be unable to do anything, too much concern is bad. He forced himself to stare at his wall, unhearing.
Did he care that he and Bliss had ended on such a bad note? Yes. He felt the undeniable pain of regret and hurt. In his mind he had considered her a friend, a welcome ally, and he respected her. He was worried about her injuries but admired the way she fought so hard. He wanted to do the same and aid her.
But what now? Once again he was all alone. The human far from his mind. He wanted to help her but he wanted to escape. If he did escape then he could come back... after they were free. He could fly back and destroy everything in his path, saving only the human girl. No others were worthy besides the Pokemon. All the other human would be condemned to death.
How... how did he apologize to her? His head dipped against his chest. How could he possibly say he was sorry? She would never listen.

Fire and Feathers Charcoal meets a Pidgeot and befriends her. The two share a strong bond and seem to understand each other very well. She brought back to him the good that he'd avoided in everything.

The orange dragon willingly walked toward his cage. He was at ease, his tense body relaxing and a new vigor instilling its self into him. He was going to help the Pidgeot. She would escape first and as he promised he would help her find her children. It was something he looked forward to doing. It was gratifying to know that someone here understood his story and his pains.
She taught him valuable things. Especially about Bliss. He wanted to apologize to her now more then ever. How? His mind was stuck on the question as he stared down at his cuffs. What would mean the most to her?
His eyes flashed to the guard on his right. The man stepped in front of him, removing the shackles in front of his cage. It would be his last mistake. The Charizard suddenly roared and attacked the man with a flame. As the human screamed his claws raked across his body in fast movements from his training.
Pain tore through the dragon as they got out tassers and objects he wasn't sure of. He kept going, undeterred by their weapons. He dove his head down, teeth catching the man's shirt and ripping a long strip of cloth off... then darkness.
He was inside one of those dreadful Pokeballs. No matter how hard he fought, he couldn't escape.
Later they released him back in his cage. He'd over heard that the guard he attacked had been rushed to their medical building with fatal wounds. His jaws were clamped against the bloodied cloth which hung from his jaws.
He'd done it.

Spliced - Cronus #014 -- Charcoal Nothing better than a ticked off fire dragon, eh? If you ask me, we'd better keep him and the Absol apart. Then again, who ever listens to me, huh? Of course, that's why I'm stuck doing these reports... Subject #14 has exhibited the following physical changes thus far: extra digits on fore feet, which are lengthening to resemble hands, as well as the figure slimming and loosing some of its natural bulk. Behavioral changes will be observed and documented at a later time.
