Charcoal slumped down in the exercise yard and sighed happily. So far there were no humans and he was the only one there. A smile went across his muzzle. He could relax and not have to deal with the insane trainers on the island.

The Pokemon had changed a lot since he'd first met Bliss. He'd finally filled out now that he was eating and his wounds had disappeared. The flame on his tail was wavering as he actually enjoyed his time in the yard. He knew he should be loathing what it stood for and he did but that was overshadowed by the fact that he was alone... so far.

An aggravated hissing sound came from the entrance into th facility, and much to her displeasure, Bliss appeared from some unknown place past the darkness. One of the acursed humans had pushed her through the nice, relatively relaxing blackness into the light. Unlike Charcoal, she still sported multiple wounds -in different places than those she'd had before. With her, it was a continual process of healing and being hurt again. Sooner or later, one of the two colliding forces would break, and they'd either give up on her, or she'd die. Whichever came first.

Regaining her natural compsure, she surveyed the area to find a familiar, and not unwelcomed, presence. She tred quickly toward Charcoal. How long had it been since they'd last met?

The Charizard continued to laze around until the sound of Bliss' hissing caught his attention. He mentally swore out any and every higher power until he saw it was Bliss. He stood quickly, surveying her wounds, and opened his jaws in a warning to any of the remaining guards.

Had they done this to her? "Bliss..." He said slowly getting down on all fours so he was more near her level. He tried not to show concern but she was one of his kind and he had formed an alliance with her. "Did the humans do this to you?"

Dare he tell her about Anya? He had sworn to protect her but he had a feeling Bliss wasn't going to jump on board at this point. He nervously brought his wings up and down as he waited to see her reaction to him. Did she have a plan? Perhaps an escape?

The Absol quickly reached the static Charizard, apparently ignoring the fact that she was covered in painful injuries. Once she reached him, Bliss sat on the welcomely-soft ground and began cleaning the wounds that she could reach. Most of them stung, but they all looked as though they would heal quickly. Nothing serious or cripplingly painful.

"I can assure you that I haven't been doing this to myself, if that idea is anywhere in your mind." She momentarily paused to reply to the question that seemed to be in his eyes. "But simply put, yes, they did. This is the result of one too many escape attempts." She sighed, shaking her head with displeasure.

Then Bliss did something that no one in the facility, neither Pokemon nor human, had ever seen her do before. She smiled. Not her normal, superior smile, but one slightly soft and (dare I say it), slightly warm and compassionate. "I see that you've been doing beter, however. It's good that you've been eating properly. Honestly, the first time we met, you didn't seem half as healthy as you do now." The smile didn't last long, but it was very, very noticeable regardless.

The fire Pokemon tensed and bared his teeth in the direction of the guards. If they were even thinking of harming the Absol again he would make sure they would feel true pain.

Once again he tried to look as though he wasn't phased. After all, she was cold and angry and..... smiling? He was caught by surprise by both the compliment and the warmth in her gaze. "... Thank you." It was curt but unsure. "I... decided I best keep my strength for our escape..."

There was hesitation but he settled himself down by her and placed his flame comfortably close to her, hoping it would do some good. "Do you need help cleaning your wounds?" He asked trying to sound casual and looking up to avoid meeting her gaze.

Now? She seemed to be in a good mood... This could be his chance. "I... have... something to tell you, Bliss."

((Randy, tell me I'm not alone in thinking that that post sounds vaguely like he's trying to confess his love for her. XDDD))

The Absol cast one last angry glance in the direction of the guards that had escorted her outside. In the distance, their voices could still be heard. "That one has to have rabies or something." "They probably both do." "Is it... Smiling at me?" "Let's get the hell out of here. I don't like the look it's giving me." Bliss smirked contently as the guards evacuated to the safety of the indoors.

"That's probably a much less physically harmful method than my own." She admitted, sighing. She knew that her constant struggling would force the humans to keep an eye on her, making escape that much more difficult. However, the only way to find their weakness was to try to attack them from every angle that she could think of.

She looked up momentarily to see why it had sudenly become slightly warmer. The end of his flaming tail actually felt nice, despite the possibility that the fire could burn her if it got to close. "No, I'm fine, but thank you nonetheless." She replied before going back to her wounds.

"Hmm?" Again, she was forced to look away from her work to answer to his comment. "Yes, what is it, Charcoal?"

(Lawl XD)

The fire Pokemon chuckled as the guards ran off. Fools, were they that weak? "Yes but much more, boring, I assure." He answered with a flick of his large wrist.

Once again he fluttered his wings in nervousness. Would she cast him away from the plans? He took in a deep breath, relaxing himself and exhaling steam. "There's a human girl..." He started, his claws clutching his pendant like a safety blanket. He fidgeted but forced his tail to stay still. "I want to... I promised to protect her." He had to. He was her Wizard.

There he'd said it. He lowered his gaze to the ground. He knew she would explode with rage. But if she would just hear him out. "I want her to escape with us."

"I must have heard you wrong just now, Charcoal. You WHAT?" Her voice stayed at an even tone until the last syllable. At that point, she raised her tone to not only a yell, but ot what could be considered a full-blown explosion. She felt betrayed in the largest way possible. He had not only mingled with a human, he had promised to be her GUARDIAN, of all things!

Her calm, collected manner was almost completely lost to the rage that now consumed her. "You probably don't even care about her, do you understand that?! She's merely a replacement for the one who gave you that thing!" She growled at him, pointed with her paw to the necklace that he was clutching in his grasp.

Whatever minor compassion they had been showing earlier no longer mattered. What little sane thought process she had left managed to retain itself for a moment and force her to tell him a single sentence. "I refuse to even speak of this right now." With that, she turned from him abruptly.

The Charizard reeled backward when she began to yell. He was the larger Pokemon but he knew that she was strong and didn't really wish to fight with his only ally. It was when she mentioned his trainer that his own anger began to ignite.

"She is no replacement for my trainer! She's a CHILD and they're treating her the same way they're treating us! She doesn't even remember who she is from what they've done to her!" His tone was pleading at first then turned to a dark growl. "I may not like humans but I will not let a human child be part of whatever they're doing to her!"

His claws dug into the dirt when she turned away. "FINE!" He roared, lifting himself onto his haunches. "Find another Pokemon watch you get yourself killed." With that he stormed off as far as he could and laid down, wrapping his tail around himself. He was hurt. She wouldn't even hear him out. Exploding at the first words out of his mouth...

Hn, it wasn't like he wanted to actually be friends with her or anything anyway. They were just partners in an escape plan.

"If you're so bent on saving this one, why don't we make it fair and save them ALL? THAT would just help us out so much! HELP US GET CAUGHT, anyway! If you want to save her, fine, save her! But you'll be doing it without my help." She snarled at him, anger rising with every word. "Did you not think of all of the other innocents that are here?! No doubt some of the cries and screams you heard at night come from tiny Pokemon taken from their mothers! Not even that! Have been taken WITH their mothers!"

She stomped off in the opposite direction he was going, toward the treed area. At least there she could sit in the calm darkness and attempt to think straight. Not that it was even possible anymore. "I hope you're happy with your new human, Charcoal! At least until the time comes when she betrays you!" She gave one final shout in his direction before they both left each other's sight.

Idiot. Stupid, stupid idiot. He trusted her over his own kind, and it was going to get him hurt even worse than last time. He probably wouldn't even be able to recover from this. But he deserved it. The idiot.
