HE started it! Part I

"MERENETH! STOP THAT AT ONCE!"

The little boy cast a bored glance his mother's way, only to stiffen at the angry glance she gave him. Wincing, he immediately put the fire out on Temujin, who hissed angrily at him before stalking off, his half-burned tail in the air.

"Ee started it, ma." He protested, folding his chubby arms and blowing his fringe out of his eyes. "Ee scratched me, see?" He showed three scratch marks on his right arm, which were turning red.

Melody opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but closed it again. What could she say? Wordlessly, she took the first aid kit from Lyllana and applied medicine on his arm. The older woman advised her to bring him out, perhaps it would soothe his nerves and crazy "I want to throw fire at everything" mood.

Perhaps.

And so she did.

************

D-Corp had decided on it's next target for a parent, and sent a tech out to inform him of the adoption. The tech, after receiving orders and the blackmail material to further convince the new parent, went to find Rayth, a gaming store owner, who seemed to have committed...well, something D-Corp dug out.

-insert more yaddayadda later-

Okay, lesse, one day Mel's out of the house with Mereneth, a very playful pyro tod. This little guy loves settting things on fire and stuff. So he accidentally set a tech's coat(who was out roaming or something) on fire and when Melody (yessu, she's a fire mage) tries to help but unfortunately makes it worse because she's distracted with...stuff.

In the end she does manage to put it out, by pushing him into a fountain. She apologises for it and offers to mend his coat. Now in the tech's obviously twisted mind, he's angry and scheming already. So he says okay, and gives her the D-Corp number to call when she's done with it. When she does, they ask her to come over and decide to give Alora to her as a "nice" gift in return.

xDDD

Edit: Oh yeah, and they gave her the dove cause when they checked up and her, they found that she was working with kids and quite good with them, and therefore would be able to handle Alora, as a bird, probable desirre for independence.

Plus Alora didn't like the techs and kept scratching them, so they they'd just throw her to Mel.

Hm. Most of the time the techs don't leave D-corp, but if we wanted to streach it we could say one was headed out to bribe another person into taking the child. Then, out of nowhere, their ploys were deterred by a certain little pyro child and thus previously said chaos would ensue.
Then, losing their canidate for parenthood, the tech would not only be annoid that he got lit on fire but also be close to losing his job. So, in an attempt to make sure to cover his back, he would then trick her into coming to D-corp and thus she'd be the new replacement parent to the one he lost. XD

Two birds with One Stone
A playdate with Ligeia

Ligeia was sitting up on what had to be his most favorite perch ever, the roof of D-corp in which he felt as if he could see the entire world sprawled out before him. He have a little, happy sound as he leaned over watching things as they went on below him. He glanced over at Vorel to give him a smile, "This place is great." And it was solitary, not a lot of people seemed to ever come up to the roof aside from the occasional tech. He'd yet to be kicked off the roof so... he was going to enjoy his perch while he could.

Vorel sat back next to the edge, looking down as well his blue glass like scales catching the light of the winter sun that was above him. A cool breeze blew passed though neither he nor Vorel seemed to pay any heed to it, the cold meant little to them. In fact Geia was still wearing shorts and a tank top. He'd been told if he were going flying he was absolutely NOT supposed to wear skirts. A rule he had abided by though he figured out how to get around it, shorts under his skirts. It let him get away with flying and wearing his pretty clothing.

"Come on." He said, hopping to his feet and made a flying leap off the side of the building. Vorel gave a loud a growl as he wasn't given a chance to keep up. He lunged to his feet and over the edge in one swift motion, the two of them falling a short way enjoying the feeling that was free falling before opening their wings to catch air, spiraling down... down... down... the other twenty or so stories towards the ground below.

Alora, had somehow sneaked out when the techs were settling stuff with Melody, her new mother, guardian, whatever. At least she seemed nice, not like all those white-coated techs who were all so cold and unfriendly-like. In fact, she even had scratched some of them if they ever came nearer and some had thrown her disgusted looks. After that, none of them bothered to approach her. Except just now.

Toddling out the doors, she finally breathed in some fresh air and sighed happily, her bright eyes darting about. The bird senses she had in her prickled on her neck, and she looked up, only to see...something she had never seen before. The little girl's eyes opened up in fright and scuttled behind a tree, peering up at the two figures in the sky warily.

It was a running sort of landing that always seemed to come at the end of a long glide, he supposed he could have flapped his wings to catch himself and land simply but felt a bit to lazy at the moment to do so. He then came to a halt smiling back at Vorel, "Come on! You can do it!" He called, fluttering his wings. The dragon did rather well in his landing, only he did the exact opposite of Ligeia, flapping his great wings to land right next to him then folded them to his back, "Heh, awesome." He said, reaching into the waist pouch that he wore to take out one of Vorel's snacks, tossing it to him.

Vorel snapped it up out of the air, chewing on the treat that made a crunching noise between his teeth. For him it had to be frozen or he had no real interest in eating it. If it weren't frozen though and he wanted it he would just freeze it to perfection himself.

Ligeia gave a giggle and clapped, "Nice." He murmured then brushed off his hands on the skirt he wore over his shorts. To the hiding dove girl it would be a hard sort of task to figure out exactly what Ligeia was as he did look the part of a girl due to his clothing and slight build.

And the two figures had landed. Both had wings, almost like the ones on her back, and they fluttered in amazement. The girl, well, at least she thought Ligeia was, (it wasn't exactly her fault either, what with that clothing and long hair) had feathers too, almost like hers but had black markings that she didn't have.

She turned her attention to the other figure. It was a dragon, although Alora didn't know that, and it puzzled her. Was it some lizard with wings? And it looked like it was being trained like a dog, what with the snacks.

Still, she continued watching the two curiously, mostly out of having nothing to do right now.

Vorel lifted his head after a moment, sniffing at the air then looked around. There was something about? He sniffed again, smelled like a bird when that thought came to mind instead of seeing a normal sort of bird in his mind Vorel saw a bird like Ligeia was. A D-corp bird not a birdbird, " Zara grovisv." He said. A simple phrase in Draconic that he was slowly but surely learning. More useful then just grunts and growls as some of the words Ligeia knew from his studies.

"Huh? Where at?" He asked, looking around spotting the tree that he was talking about, he tilted his head to the side, "Wait here and I will go see what's there."

"Kosj ir." He said, sitting back on his haunches, tail swishing.

Ligeia nodded then started forward, "Hello? Is someone there?" He called, making his voice sound friendly so that if someone were there they wouldn't be afraid, especially if they were small like Vorel had told him.

Alora watched curiously as the lizard-thing began sniffing the air. Could he smell something she couldn't? The dove girl try sniffing as well, but apart from fresh air and a leafy smell, she couldn't sense anything that sould intrigue the dragon. Her ears perked up as it talked, in a language she couldn't comprehend. The bird-"girl" seemed to understand it however, and...looked directly at the tree she was hiding behind.

Alora didn't scream, just ducked behind the tree, a little scared of being found. So...the dragon smelt her. Was it going to eat her? Was it... Her mind came to a blank as Ligeia walked closer with a prompt from the dragon. Drawing in a deep breath, she peeked out at Ligeia, who was coming closer. "She" doesn't look bad... she thought, biting her lip.

Peeking out nervously, she whispered, "Uh..ello?"

Ligeia's dark eyes widened a bit as the smaller bird child peeked out from behind the tree, then he gave her a smile, "Hey there." He said, so there was something hiding out here. He was currently rather impressed by Vorel's ability to scent out the girl so well. Ligeia had no idea that she was even there, "Are you playing Hide and Seek?" He asked. He hoped that he wasn't ruining her game or something, he would feel bad if he and Vorel gave her away if that were what she was doing.

Vorel tilted his head to the side at the appearance of the dove girl, pushing up to his feet to walk over to her, Oooo. It was a little pretty! How he loved pretties he thought to himself then gave Alora a dragon's smile, "G'rei oirocai." He said to Alora as he sat back down, lowering himself down so that he was laying on the ground, head down too so as to seem less threatening.

Well, the bird "girl" seemed and looked nice. "She" had pretty feathers just like Alora herself! Slowly, just slowly, Alora edged out from behind the tree to face Ligeia. "Nope." She shook her head. It wasn't like she had any friends to play Hide and Seek with anyway.

And then the dragon talked to her. She didn't understand a thing, but he seemed...well, nice too. She gave him a small smile and asked Ligeia, "What he say?"

"Nope?" So the little one was outside all alone? This was vaguely reminding him of his first meeting with Altessa, hopefully though it would go better then that meeting had he thought to himself, "We don't have anyone to play with either, maybe you can join us?" He offered, that way he could keep an eye on her. Maybe her parent was around and he just didn't see them? He found himself glancing around for a moment as if to search.

Ligeia gave a flutter of his wings turning back to her, "Vorel says 'Good Day' to you in his language. I am trying my best to learn it so that I can keep up with what he says." He told the little white bird, "He's not ready to try English yet."

Alora shook her head once again. For all she knew, Melody was inside talking to one of those white coats. And she hated the techs, so she came out here. Play? Her ears perked up in excitement. "Okay." She smiled at Ligeia. "Me is Alora."

So the dragon had greeted her. Alora got over her shyness and didn't feel much more afraid anymore. She gave a tiny little wave back at the dragon, admiring it's pretty blue scales.

Not parent around either, must have snuck off? He would admit that he had done that often when he was younger so that he could go and visit with Vorel when he was still an egg, "Alora, my name is Ligeia and this is my partner Vorel." He motioned to the Frost Dragon

Vorel gave a croon, tail swishing as he was introduced. So they were going to play with the little pretty! Yay! He pushed up so that he was sitting up, looking back and forth wondering what sort of game they were going play, "Ulamne?"

Ligeia gave a glance to Vorel, "Not sure, she looks a little young so I'm not sure if she flys yet." He looked over to Alora, she seemed rather young and he knew it had taken him a while to figure out flying, "I mean if you want to we can." Ligeia told the little girl, he didn't want for her to feel as if he didn't want to fly with her if she wanted to do so.

Ligeia and Vorel. They were nice names for these nice people. Alora turned as the dragon said something in his language and then looked back at Ligeia when "she" talked to the dragon.

At the word "fly", her wings flittered in excitement and she threw a glance at them, biting her lip. She hadn't exactly mastered the use of them yet, all she could do was hover slightly, only a few inches off the floor. "Not really fly."

Ligeia nodded and thought on it a moment before offering Alora his hands, "I can carry you if you like, I have brought people up before." He offered her, he knew that flying was among one of his favorite activities so if another child wanted to fly but hadn't the skills he'd offer them a ride just so they could see what it was like. It didn't occur to him though that when he brought people up was during a class and he had his father looking on, this time while that would be different he was also bigger and better at flying.

Vorel gave a flutter of his wings, wanting to go up too, "Ulamne!" He said again, this time sound more exciting and less like he was offering up a suggestion.

Carry? Ligeia was going to fly while carrying her? It seemed rather exciting, and she would be able to experience how flying was!(Well, somewhat.) So, Alora nodded and took both "her" hands and said, "Thank you."

Manners were rather important after all.

Ligeia lifted Alora up, easy to do since she seemed quite light, wrapping an arm around her waist protectively then started to flap his wings bring them up into the air. He didn't go to high up so as not to startle her, only a five feet to begin with to gauge her reaction before they went any higher.

Vorel ran in a couple circles around their feet, wings flapping before he flew up to do circles around the pair of birds, "Vorel always gets excited around new people." Ligeia explained to Alora.

Alora gave a little squeak of astonishment as he lifted her up, then chanced a peek down. Ooh! It was rather fun, after all, the little girl thought as she giggled softly.

As Vorel flew around them, Alora's face was a picture of delight. He was a beautiful dragon, she thought, admiring his light-blue scales.

Ligeia gave a smile, flapping so that they rose up at a slow pace, "Just tell me if we get to high ok? Don't want to go any farther up then you are ready for." He told Alora so that she knew that she was in charge of the ride. If she wanted to go higher, lower, back to the ground. Whatever was requested of Ligeia he would listen too.

Alora nodded in return, but it wasn't like she was scared of heights anyway. She found it intriguing.

"When can I fly high?"

"On your own? Well my Dad does classes for some of the kids so he can tell you better then me. He will also be able to teach you flying... well more like him having me show it to you." He'd taken to having Ligeia assist in flying classes as it helped to have someone with wings there to help.

He gave a couple more flaps to bring them up a little higher, There was a good view from this height though they were still dwarfed by D-Corp. Even as high as they were they were only up two of the buildings thirty stories.

"Really?" Alora perked up happily. So, Ligeia's dad could teach her? She wondered slightly if she had a daddy as well. Hmm...she'd have to ask her new mommy about that.

She stared at the buildings around her and shivered slightly, remembering her "imprisonment" within.

Ligeia nodded, "Its his job, hes a good teacher." He did a lot of hard classes and Ligeia was proud of him, he worked so hard. Though more often then not when he came home he crashed on the couch. So Ligeia wanted nothing more then to help out when he could, the flying classes were one area where he could do just that, "If you take one of his classes for flying I am sure I will see you in it."

Ligiea followed her gaze over to the building, then looked at her as she shivered. His own time there without his father seemed so long ago that he could barely recall it so he misunderstood her shivers, "Are you getting cold? We can land if you like and go inside, its sure to be warmer."

So she could learn flying and see her new friend again as well? Alora bounced excitedly in his arms, but not too much of course. She made a little note in her head to ask her new mother to let her go for these lessons.

Alora blinked slightly, averting her eyes from the building. "Not cold..." Her voice trailed off as she tried not to think about the horrors of being alone.

Ligeia watched her for a moment before he turned them some so that instead of looking over D-Corp they were instead looking out over the scenery that was the other way. He then flapped up, up, up so that she could take in a view that didn't involve the building that seemed to cause her shivers. He could seem maybe being afraid of some of the techs? They were a little... different?

"When you get to flying on your own your more then welcome to join Vorel and I, we would love some company on our flights." He offered, watching to get her mind off of whatever bothered her.

Alora nodded back, silent as she took in the scenery she was now facing.

******

Meanwhile, back in that building, her new mother was a little upset. Okay, so a little didn't cut it. "DRAGONS?!" Melody yelled. "But...but..."

The tech sighed, leaning back in his seat. As his eyes swept across the room, a gleam appeared as he spotted, or didn't spot the little girl.

"I think you should be worried about something else."

*****

Ligeia smiled then whistled to Vorel, flapping he moved over to land on Vorel's back, kneeling down on him with Alora. His wings were getting a little tired from the extra weight, though it was a really good way of getting exercise for his wings. This way Alora could still get carried up in the sky even if it were now Vorel doing the work instead.

"Dragon ride!" Ligeia said, smiling at Alora.

Vorel smiled then started to fly in lazy circles with the two birds.

Alora blinked as Ligeia landed on Vorel. A dragon ride? Cool! She patted the dragon, as if to thank him for the ride.

********
"Oh god." The tech knew exactly how to distract her. She berated herself for having a soft spot for kids.

"Sign the papers." He repeated again.

"Alright fine!" Melody snapped as she grabbed the pen and scribbled her signature just above the line. Immediately, she stormed out to find Alora, worried.

The tech settled back in his seat and smiled. The kid had made it all right anyway.
*******
The owl child smiled, good. She was ok with the dragon ride so it was alright for him to take a load off. He kept her safetly in his arms of course not wanting for her to fall. He looked out and about while they flew, "I wonder if it will snow soon." He said to both Vorel and Alora, he hoped so. Snow would be pretty.

"Snow?" Alora echoed, a little confused. Being in the building with all those techs meant facing walls everyday. The little girl hadn't really gotten to see the sky much.

Hmmm...would Alora explore the building? Or maybe go out? Melody wasn't torn between the two decisions; she didn't want to scout the rather huge building.

So, the young woman decided to exit, passing the receptionist desk as the glass doors slid open to let her through.
He nodded, "Snow is very pretty. Its white frozen rain that falls from the sky when its cold. What sort of animal I am is named after it. The snowy owl." Part of the reason why he was hoping for snow was due to the word being in the name of his species, "Its fun to play in. Vorel can sort of make some if you want to see?"

Vorel gave a sound of agreement as if to say, 'I can too'. Icy breath was one thing he wasn't to bad with though only good for making popcicles and freezing gold first currently.

"Snow...pretty?" Alora murmured softly as she tried to imagine how it looked like. Well, if it was frozen, did it hurt people? It had to hurt right? She'd have to ask about that later, she decided as she lapsed into thought.

So, Ligeia was a snowy owl? No wonder he was white, like her. "Alora is a dove." She informed him, ruffling her feathers happily.

Well she was out. And yet, she saw Alora nowhere. It wouldn't be hard to spot a little white girl with wings, right? Waittt, could she even fly? At this thought, Melody raised her head to scan the sky. All she saw was blue spot, however.

Worried, the fire mage yelled, "Alora! Where are you?"

"Mmhmm. Or at least I think that it is. Maybe not all people are of the same thought process." He was sure that his brother would hate it on principle. Not just because he was a reptile and didn't like the cold but because Ligeia liked it, "Ooo, your a dove? Thats neat." Doves were nice, a symbol or peace weren't they?

Vorel looked down towards the ground then started to circles some for, slowly decending towards the ground. There was someone down there he thought to himself, wondering for a moment who. It wasn't a tech or anyone he knew though so interest in the new person was fleeting... until he got close enough to see something important.

The one below them was a pretty!

"Ateir tander eilert!" He told Ligeia and Alora both, circling down a bit more so that they could get a look at the pretty too.

So, some people didn't think this snow were pretty? Hmm...she'd had to see it for herself then. Alora blinked as Vorel startd to descend, and her ears caught a noise. She strained to hear it, only surprised to hear her name being called out. Peeriing down carefuly, she caught sight of the red-haired woman.

"Mommy!" She exclaimed happily.

Where in the world was she? A sickening feeling began to appear in her stomach. The first day of getting a new kid, and she just had to mess it up. Her eyes still scanning the sky; they widened as they spotted the blue spot coming closer. And she also heard...Alora? Blinking, she squinted. What in the world was she riding on?

Ligeia caught sight of the person below, the redhair first that made him think of his father... but between what Vorel had said and then what Alora said he knew it wasn't the same redhead down there, "Shall we land and say 'hello' Vorel?" He asked of his dragon.

Vorel gave a nod, his circles tightening, heading more at an angle that they were soon landing near to Alora's mother. Ligeia then hop off of his dragon's back, he fluttered then landed on his feet, kneeling so that he could set Alora down, "Hello." He greeting Alora's mother.

"G'rei oirocai!" Vorel said, laying down. That had been fun getting to escort two people at once, now he even got to talk to another pretty! Life was good today!

Alora was positively escatic as they landed, and hopped off Ligeia's arms, beaming at him to say thanks in return.

"Mommy! Mommy!" The dove girl chirped, wrapping her arms around Melody's legs, who looked startled that the little shy girl she saw earlier was...well, so happy. "This is Lige-gy, and that's Vorel." She pointed at each one as she spoke their names. "They took me to fly!"

Woah. The young woman blinked slightly and laughed, bending down to wrap her arms around her and lift the soft feathery bundle up. "I'm glad you had a good time then." She was relieved, because when she first saw the dragon, she was a little worried of what might happen to Alora. It seemed that the two were nice after all.

"Hello..." Her voice trailed off, she was almost certain that "Lige-gy" wasn't "her" real name. Anyway, he, or she, sounded like a boy. "Thanks for taking care of her."

"Vorel said hello to you, mommy." Alora informed her, remembering what Ligeia had translated when the dragon had greeted her too. Upon hearing this, the fire mage greeted Vorel as well.

"Its alright, we had a lot of fun." Ligeia said to the lady, "Isn't that right Vorel?"

Vorel nodded his head, lash swishing. He always enjoyed flying and getting to fly with Ligeia and Alora had been a lot of fun, especially the part where he got to carry the pair of them. Neither weighed much being birds so he'd barely felt their weight.

"We will have to play again soon Alora, so long as that is ok with you Mom." They would probably see her in class as well.

Melody smiled as she tightened her grip on Alora, careful that she didn't drop the little girl, but then again, she wasn't heavy. Still, she had to be cautious.

Alora leaned forward, the smile leaving her face as soon as it had come. "I'll see you again?" She asked worriedly.

"You will." Melody gave a reassuring smile to her daughter and fumbled in her pocket. Plucking out her name card, which held her phone number and address, she handed it to Ligeia. "Here."

Ligeia reached out and took the card, "Thank you very much." He said, smiling brightly, "If you ever want to find me I am more then likely in my father's classroom, his name is Orpheus Solon." While he had no card to give them telling them his father's name would make it that much easier to find him in the future.

He tucked the card away into the pocket on his skirt then gave a wave, "I will definately see you again." He told Alora so that she wouldn't worry then reached a hand up to pat Vorel, "Byebye for now Alora!"

"Niean eilero g'rei." Vorel said, tail swishing having a them a wave with his wing.

"Lige-gy's daddy teaches flying." Alora said, getting excited. She wanted to learn how to fly and use her wings just like him! Plus she could see him again.

"Orpheus Solon." Melody repeated, tucking the name away in her mind and nodded. Well, that was lucky, his dad being a teacher.

"Bye bye." Alora waved to both of them, reassurred that she would see both of them again.

"Byes!" Ligeia said, smiling brightly then turned to Vorel, "Race you to the top!" After a last wave to Mel and Alora he took off running, wings taking him into the air intent on making it to the top of D-Corp before Vorel. The dragon was soon flapping after him, ready to the win the race as well.

Colouring while learning is fun!

Alora seemed pretty eager to use her new markers as her mother showed her the worksheets she could colour. Clambering onto a chair, she put the open box neatly next to the sheets of paper. The first letter was A. Well, her name started with that, didn't it? Reaching out a hand, she paused as her eyes scanned the many colours, and pulled the grey one out. It was close to the colour of her feathers. Scribbling her name next to the A, she started colouring the other letters as well.

A dragon! Well, Vorel looked like that! Alora took the light blue marker, and scribbled the colour in, pleased. Yes, that looked like Vorel's scales all right! Next an egg! Mommy had told her she would get an egg, and it would be a dragon, like Vorel too! And of course, she coloured it her favourite colour. There was fire too, which she had seen, Mereneth had shown her his powers.

Pleased with her progress, Alora began colouring more.

"Lunch time!" Lyallana called. Immediately, Mereneth zoomed out of his room, declaring that he was starving. Alora smiled and left her stuff neatly on her table. She'd finish it later.

After lunch is done...

Alora was full. Heading back to her room, she settled herself on her white wooden chair yet again and finished up her colouring.

And it was done! Alora grabbed up all the worksheets and happily skipped off to show her mother what she had done.

The bookstore
Meeting Jett and Altessa

Raven stepped inside the bookstore, holding one of Jett's hands. Normally, she would've gone alone, but today neither Winter nor Arch were about to watch Jett, and... well, that left taking the kid with her. Not that she minded Jett's company, it was just... the bookstore and the surrounding area weren't exactly places for a kid to play.

Though... there was a section where kids could go and hang out while their parents looked elsewhere, complete with adults to keep an eye on the kids. It was just that Raven didn't often trust others-- even other Gaians-- not to be judgmental of kids who were different than others. Especially such strange crossbreeds as the D-corp kids.

Ah well. "Go play, and behave yourself, all right, Jett?" she murmured, considering the books after making sure there were the promised guardians.

She worried too much. His mother-person. Raven. She worried too much. He would be fine looking around on his own.

"You'll find the arts and crafts book over there." Kanth murmured softly to Altessa, ruffling her hair gently before walking up to the counter to order a coffee drink. Altessa raised an eyebrow before heading that direction, intent on making these 'skull candies' she invented, or rather, thought up.

It was then that she spotted Jett, and halted in her pace. Curiosity enveloped her, and she drew forward softly until she was right beside him, glancing at whatever he was doing.

Not a word was said as she raised her hand and gave a short, boyish wave.

Melody figured that she might as well buy some picture books for Alora, after Mereneth, in his excitement of reading them, had burned up every single one of the books in the house. Her hand was clasped around the tiny hand of the little girl, who was now wearing a simple white dress and sandals.

"All right, you go find your books kay? I'll meet you back here later." Melody had enough confidence in Alora; the dove girl wouldn't follow strangers, she knew. And anyway, she wanted to find some books to read as well.

Alora nodded before scampering off, a little intrigued by the piles and piles of books around her. Peering around a corner, she suddenly froze, her blue eyes watching the spider boy and the other...scaly looking girl.

Angry green one. Different one. Altessa. Jett smiled slightly at the girl in response to the wave. "...hello again. Altessa," he added. Showing that he remembered the name. That meant something, didn't it? To remember a name, it showed that you thought there was something important-- important enough to remember.

"I am pleased you've remembered." Altessa rumbled, shoving her hands in her pockets and leaning back a small bit. "And you speak a lot more." Idly, Altessa wondered if it was just her company that did that, or if it was the reason he grew.

Her eye twinged, and Altessa turned to look at Alora, eyes narrowing at the feathers that cascaded from her back. She would do nothing, however, unless the bird decided to be... stupid.

Alora seemed to like watching people. She wasn't much of a talker just yet, still a little wary of her surroundings. She watched as both of them greeted each other; it seemed like they even knew each other.

Suddenly, as Altessa turned, Alora was frightened at the look she gave her, her feathers ruffling in a defensive way. She didn't exactly like this girl, she didn't know why. It wasn't because she had spotted the dove girl watching; Ligeia did that too, and she liked her...him, didn't she? This girl just seemed to give her the creeps.

Jett's gaze followed Altessa's, spotting the dove. Well. A little... creature. White this one, unlike the blue and the green and the multi-colored that he'd met before. How strange... but not bad. Altessa didn't seem to like her much-- but that was part of her difference, that anger that made her dislike others.

"...you made an impression," Jett shrugged slightly at the girl's first comment, letting the second slide by-- for the answer he'd given could reply to both, couldn't it? "...the little one is watching."

"Yes." Altessa sighed, closing her eyes for a moment as she withdrew, still standing in the same spot she stood. She could feel the other's fear... quite easily. Was this what the woman was talking about?

Nonetheless, she had no inkling to act on it, now. She was around Jett. Nothing was wrong, therefore she didn't need to use it.

And now the spider boy spotted her too. Unlike the other, he seemed rather indifferent of her. And at least he didn't give her that kind of stare too. It was rather scary.

Alora wondered for a moment whether she could continue staring at them, but decided against it, still a little freaked by Altessa. Instead, she plucked a rather colourful book from the bookshelf and flipped through it, her eyes grazing through it curiously.

It appeared Altessa wasn't wont to act upon the little one's prying-- perhaps it was due to the dove's interest in the book? No... the little one was interested in the book because of... Altessa. Strange the way people did things to remove themselves from fear.

A sudden thought, Jett carefully, quickly weaving something together from his webs, careful to make it not quite as sticky as he usually did. "Why are you here today... if I can ask?" Jett queried as he worked, careful to add in the last. He didn't want to offend Altessa.

Altessa had to think on this a moment, her eyes focusing on nothing in particular as she breathed out. "... candy." She had nearly forgotten. Then, all hatred dissipating in an instant, Altessa slid over to beside the dove girl and reached up. "'scuse me."

Pulling out a thick book, Altessa staggered back at the weight and opened it up, leaning against the bookshelf as she idly glanced at Jett's web, curious at what he was making. He'd tell her soon enough, if he wished to.

"Something with skulls on it. Cute, but deadly, somewhat. Got the idea from Medusa-sis."

Alora might have reached up for the book only to escape Altessa's fury, as Jett had thought, but she found that she was interested in it anyway. She let a hand touch the pages, grazing across pictures of birds, which intrigued her because of the wings and the fact that she had bird DNA as well.

Candy? Her ears perked up, still listening to the conversation the two had.

Medusa... sis? Dusa... the strange blue girl-- related to Altessa? It boggled the mind somewhat. Jett blinked, considering this before dismissing it. After all, it wasn't his business, it didn't matter much. Didn't make either less than the other. "Candy...?" Sweets. "May I help?"

Because... that's what one offered to do to those they considered 'friends', whatever the word really meant, wasn't it? Help. Assist.

The dove was listening still. She seemed... milder than the others Jett had met-- or was that only because she was smaller than Jett was now? Ah well.

And the web! The web... not that sticky, but... it wasn't supposed to be. Ah. Almost done... a loop, and... there. To be given at the right moment.

The Bandersnatch had to smirk at this. "She lives in the same place. She is kin, but not by blood." She smiled at the fact Jett was interested in the candy, and opened the book wider. "Yes, you may help."

Her eyes flickered over to the bird, now curious. She wasn't annoying like the other two she'd met (though Cleo had far proven herself), and Altessa rather liked this.

Now to find out the bird's personality. She knew how to keep her nose out of trouble, it seemed.

Altessa was right, Alora couldn't be exactly annoying even if she tried. The dove girl was still on the verge of being scared of strangers quite easily.

So maybe they wanted to make candy. Alora wondered how candy was even made, how they made it sweet and some chewy, some not, and...and... She could let her imagination run wild.

And the spider boy seemed to be making something. A web, of sorts. She could peek at it from the very corner of the eye, still pretending to be staring at the book.

Jett nodded slowly, considering things as he finished what he'd been making. The little dove was still paying attention to them, even though she was trying to pretend she wasn't. Altessa was considering. "I see," he finally remarked, "and thank you," he added to the last.

Glancing at Altessa, the boy offered her the web necklace-- it wasn't sticky any longer, instead resembling delicate, lacy skulls. "For you," he smiled slightly.

Shyness in the Sand
Taren and Alora meet

It was, simply a lovely sunny day. So what better to make the use of it and go to the beach? Melody figured. She managed to cajole Lyallana into making a picnic basket for the outing (with, of course, not forgetting some puppy-eyed help from the three kids; Alora was getting past her shyness in the family).

So, now here they were, Gywn, Mereneth, Alora and Melody. Gywn declared a search for seashells and ran down the beach with a bucket in hand, her two ponytails bouncing in the air. Mereneth, wasn't in the mood for throwing fireballs(he had gotten over randomly throwing them anyway) and settled for attempting to make a sandcastle, scooping sand into the bucket using his bare hands, refusing to listen to Melody saying that he could instead, use a shovel.

Alora, after assurance from Melody that no shark would jump out and bite her, had walked down to the seashore and sat on the sand, the waves lapping at her feet. The little girl enjoyed this and sighed happily, smiling down at the white swimsuit her mother had bought for her.

Out some distance from the shore and hidden mostly by the gentle curl of the waves silen was attempting to educate her reluctant son in the art of swimming. This had been a strictly mother and son affair so the rest of the family had been left at hom while the lesson was going on, beside Silen really didn't like the idea of what some of her other children might do to take advantage of poor Taren in his current state.

He tood on a rock that was submurged under the water but which had the effect of leaving his upper half above it. His gusrdian was backing away slowly holding out her arms and calling to him. Why? why would she do that? it was mean and he didn't want to swim he didn't like the wet. No icky. He extened his own arms encircle with the little blue floaties and called to her. "Mum, no come back I can't."

"You can, trust me Tarry you can." Silen said confidently, honestly somtimes that boy. "There is nothing in the water, and trust me moles can swim. so can people so it's just a case of learning." It was true, she'd done her reaserch and found that moles indeed could swim, it didn't mean they liked to but they could and he might need this skill one day. "okay on the count of three. Jump in and kick your legs and arms like I showed you." Maybe this was a little cruel but she was going for the mother bird approch, the way the mother bird taught her offpring to fly was to push them out of the nest. "one..." Taren was trembling still holding his arms out emploringly. "Two..." he took a teative step forward on the rock. "three! Jump tarry and swim." He jumped and he started to kick causing a mad splashing with his flailing. But slowl he started moving forward and was staying afloat.

Neither had noticed the others on the beach.

When Alora had raised her head, she spotted two figures bobbing up and down on the waves. Squinting slightly, she couldn't really make out who these people were. All she knew was that she hadn't seen them before. The little one seemed to be trying to swim, what with kicking droplets of water up into the air.

She watched for a while, also keeping an eye on Gywn nearby, wanting to see if she had picked any pretty shells. Mereneth however, had put together a very messy wet lump of sand and declared it a castle by tying a piece of cloth he had found on a stick and sticking it in the middle of it. Melody smiled, watching the three. Yup, everything seemed to be pretty normal.

Taren collapsed into his mothers ars and clungg to her squeaking and purring completly exsilerated and pleased with himself. "I did it, I did it." he squeaked panting slightly as his guardian laughed and heaped praises upon him. "See I knew you could." she said kissing his salty fur as she held him above the water.

However at that moment she noticed the boy's grip suddenly tighten alot around her arms and blinked. "What's the matter Taren?" she asked following the mole's gaze towards the shoreshe spotted what seemed to be a small family playing along the beach. She sighed, perfect. Taren would not want to try again now, he'd be todistracted and nervous about who they were. "come on then let's go and get you dried off." she said starting to walk towards the shore seeing a small extreamly white girl sitting nearest who seemed to be feathed? another D-corp child perhaps. "hello." she offered as Taren burried his head into her shoulder even though he was bigger than the girl he was still scared, she sighed, typical.

The two figures were coming nearer, and as they did, Alora finally got a good look at them. One was a little boy with claws on his hands and one seemed to be his mommy.

"Hello." She replied, giving a small smile up at the mole boy.

Melody saw this and made her way to Alora, a little afraid that she might come to harm. But, as she got nearer, the other guardian seemed rather friendly, and she relaxed slightly.

Silen set Taren down on the floor beside her and he retreated behind her legs stright away, she sighed honestly that boy somtimes, however he did squeak a shy 'hi' at the other girl from his postion. At least there was that, as she saw Melody approch she gave a small wave as intial greeting guessing this must be the girl's gaudian.

Taren though the girl looked harmless enough, even gentle but he wasn't about to take any chances he'd only met one other female d-corp child and she had been frightening still the sight of the innocent large dove eyes and the girls physical size when compared to his own was reassuring in itself and he edged out from behind his guardian's legs towarsher, still feeling the water lapping at her feet.

Melody waved back, feeling much better. Perhaps it was another D-Corp and, another person they had somehow cajoled into taking care of those poor children. "Hello. "She smiled, gesturing towards Taren, "Might I guess that he came from D-Corp too?"

Alora peered at Taren curiously. He seemed shy, shyer than her even. She had gotten past it but well, meeting strangers was still a little frightening to her. "Alora." She tried to start the introductions, pointing to herself.

Silen nodded to the other women's question. "yep, He's a D-corp child as well, as I'm guessing your little one there is?" she said smiling and looking down at the girl, althrough she was still fuming at D-corp, checky batards the lot of them and more barmy than a barel full of ferets, still she wasn't about to take that out on any of the other parents who had been 'persuaded' to take in the children and of course not on the children themselves. "I'm Silen." she introduced herself then looked down at Taren.

The child was staring openly at the other white feathrd creature but he glanced up and caught his mothers look, shrinking back from it slightly then catching on. "I'm Taren." he said pointing at himself with one large claw.

Yup, the boy was from D-Corp as well. Though Melody couldn't exactly figure out what animal he was. "I'm Melody." She smiled at Silen. She must have been pulled into this as well...not that Melody regretted taking in Alora, but the prospect of having a dragon in her house, was still, frightening.

Taren. Alora nodded in return. It was a nice name.

Silen loked around at the beach's other inhabitants, seems that the women also had a few more to deal with in the child deparment althrough all of them looked quite adorable, she smiled, she did like children and animals after all but she just hadn't planned on taking in another funny how cercumstances change, she sighed and looked back nodding. "nice name.Se's adorable to." silen commented looking down at the avian child.
"oh do you idnd if we walk up the beach to our things, I still have to get this one dry." she said pointing at the mole boy.they were both still driping with freezing cold sae water after all.

Without really waiting she started walking up the beach, seeing Taren was starting to shiver she didn't want him to catch cold in this weather, it was hr own fault though, she was part ice demon afterall so she often forgot how cold it was for others. When she reached er bag and their things she grabbed a large towel and enfolded the child with it looking back to see if the girl and her guardian had followed.

"Thank you." Melody replied, smiling as her tense muscles relaxed. Her eyes darted to Taren, whose fur was dripping with the ice cold water and nodded.

As she followed, she motioned for Alora and Gywn to follow; it seemed like the brown-haired girl had filled her bucket to the brim. As Gywn skipped up, she linked hands with Alora, as the two set to exploring the sea shells she had picked. Mereneth looked up from the messy pile of sand in front of him and waved to the new people on the beach, cocking his head to stare at Taren.

Dear Diary,

It's been a few days since I got Alora from D-Corp, that nasty place that blackmailed me into adopting here. Still, I don't mind, Alora's an absolute darling. Mereneth and Gywn welcomed her as well.

The funny thing is, Gywn suddenly disappeared yesterday. Mereneth began pulling Alora around the mansion for a frantic search of their sister, but to no avail. I hadn't the heart to tell them what happened, when Fauste told me. I just had to say that she would come back soon, which is what we would get from taking care of the some stone or tree. These twins were also sent to help us. I found them rather amusing. I think Fauste was annoyed, but then again, he's almost always annoyed.

Mereneth started calling Alora "Aloe Vera" once he heard that word from Lyllana, gleefully repeating it everytime he saw her. She doesn't mind though, and thinks it's rather cute. However, I made a mistake by telling her she should call him a name too, like "Merry Go Round". How it popped into my head, I have no idea. But since then, both have been calling each other that.

Then again, I'm getting busy with THREE more kids at once from the Tenjutsu, a letter I got quite a few days ago. Rune, the one in charge of the centre agreed that it was too many, but oh well. Anyway, Alora met a new friend there too, Jewel, a D-Corp kiddy too.

...I'd better stop writing now, lest Kaylee flies in and starts commenting about what I write again. I can hear the flaps of her wings...

1 paper+1 box of crayons=10 colorings

"Numbers?" Alora repeated after Melody, cocing her head as she stared up at her mother in curiosity.

Her mother had nodded, handing her the piece of paper, saying that she could colour them and learn that at the same time. Just like the alphabet!

Staring at the first one, Alora smiled. An owl! Lige-gy was an owl, he told her. So, she scribbled some grey on it and swept her gaze over the sheet to see where else she could apply this colour. Eggs! Well, the ones Aunt Lyll cooked were beige, she had seen them, but those were chicken. Maybe dove eggs were grey? Nodding at that, the girl coloured it.

And the rest was filled in with other sorts of colours she randomly chose, by closing her eyes and picking one from the box each time.

A child is expected to know certain things at certain ages.
In order to obtain rights to their Dragon(egg), they must prove they can meet these requirements.

The following sheet is for your child to fill out, with mild help from their guardian, then sent back to D-corp. (PM ot the mule)

Also any changes, even minor such as haircuts, should be reported to the D-corp to be logged and filed.

Thankyou,
D-corp.

D-Corp,
Alora filled up the form perfectly until she got to the part about a best friend. She didn't know how to spell the name of the owl boy she met when I wasn't there, so she just put part of his name, "Lige". At least I think it's spelled like that. She also put down Jewel, a rather colourful fish that's also from D-Corp. The two girls seem to have liked each other immediately.

Her favourite colour, is a light grey, or even white, she only put grey because she insisted it looked rather weird if she wrote it in white. She also likes lighter shades of blue and picked out dresses in that colour, preferring to wear them around the house now. This looks like her favourite dress, with a few lace and ribbons on it. She has also taken a liking to leg warmers as well, she wears the grey ones around the house all the time with her new silver sandals

She has of course grow taller and her blond hair has now fallen to her waist. She refuses to cut it, however, and likes it when I tie it into two braids with grey and blue ribbons.

Her feathers got dirty after a while though, and I had no idea how to clean them. Birds usually clean themselves with their beak but Alora has none, and I'm worried she might poison herself if she uses her mouth. I've done some research and found that a certain kind of dishwashing Detergent does a pretty good job of cleaning them. What intrigues me is the feathers that look like they're hanging from her ears. They look as if they're earrings.

Alora has also gotten more bold. She isn't exactly so shy anymore, just rather quiet. She doesn't like speaking so much, except when the news come on television and she starts asking why so much violence is happening in the world...and I don't know how to answer her. She does seem rather supportive of peace, not that I blame her. And she refuses to take off that necklace with the silver pendant of the CND or peace symbol. She keeps rubbing it whenever she watches the news.

...I do wonder what kind of dragon you'll give her.
