Beta. I do write, but much prefer to beta.
I write/read...
I write mainly original fantasy and some fanfiction.
I will read pretty much anything (I'm really not that picky), although if it's fanfiction you may need to add some time for me to research the fandom a little. So I'll read any original and pretty much any fanfiction. I don't mind graphic sex/violence/gore/kitten-on-kitten battles, and I don't care about sexual orientation. However, a warning for other fanficc'ers: I'm a relentless canon nazi. That's partially why I do research on fandoms I don't know.

I'm a grammar and spelling Nazi, first of all. I expect that (most of the time) you're sending me a complete first draft, not something that you wrote in fifteen minutes and sent to me, so please, have it already spell-checked? That might sound a little harsh, but I'm not really that mean when I edit. I point out a mistake and then will add two or three suggestions of how it could be fixed. If you have trouble with details, or with character description - basically, any description - I'm your girl.
I usually work very hard to be prompt on replies - since I check my e-mail daily, I try to have it back same day or within two days, even when I'm busy with school and so on.

Fanfiction: Harry Potter, Naruto, Bleach, Lost, Anne Rice(even though she discourages it), Inuyasha, Twilight, and more.
Original: Fantasy, Comedy, Some Romance
Other : I'm fairly quick, but if I take too long, you are allowed to be mad at me. There is nearly no Fanfiction in a series that I know that I will not Beta. I'm good at grammar, spelling, dialogue flow, and story flow. I am also not afraid to ask, "WTF does this mean!?" if I do not understand, rather than assume it is what I think it is. (I hope that that made sense.)

I read : fanfiction for X-Men (comics and movie-verse), .hack//SIGN, and Rurouni Kenshin.
I will be happy to read almost anything, but the above are the series I know best.
Original fiction for fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction ... pretty much anything.
Other : looking
I am an English major with an special interest in grammar and general linguistics. I am quick at spotting and correcting grammatical errors, however, I do understand that characters often speak colloquially rather than in perfect English. I am well-read and therefore have a decent understanding of various writing styles.

Gamma/beta. I write more than I beta, but I like to beta, too.
I read...
Besides fantasy or sci-fi original fic, I'll also beta in the fandoms of: Stargate (SGA and SG-1), Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Highlander, FFVII (and VIII, and X), Full Metal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic, Naruto, and Trigun (I'll beta in most others, but if you want me to know the canon, those are the ones with which I'm most familiar).
I tend to stay away from romance (this referring to both homosexual and heterosexual relations) particularly in fanfic; I have no issues with excessive violence, but if something is rated M for sexual content...eh, I'd prefer not to beta things that squick me. Also with fanfic, I don't mind AU, but I prefer not to read fics where the characters are deliberately OOC (and will point out if I find them being un-deliberately OOC).
I'll look at nitty-gritty details (descriptions and phrasing) or at general flow and characterization--whatever you like.
Anything else?
If something is being sent to me for beta'ing, I'm expecting that the author's done at least a cursory proof-read. It's not as if it takes long to run a spell-check, if you don't have one set up to check as you write. Also, if a story's going to be +20k words, I'd prefer it to be complete (or very nearly) before I beta it--or to beta it in large, complete chunks.

I write/read : Anything that is not realistic fiction.
Other : Generally, I don't much look for grammar or spelling mistakes. You can run a spell check over your document, it should be fine. I look for an interesting plot, believable characters and events, and, most importantly, what I'm good at is stringing the right sentences together to create the desired tone of the piece. Not just metaphors and detail, but the correct metaphors and detail that really emphasize on the mood.

I read : Original Anything or fanfiction for quite a few animes. My favorite is Bleach ^.^ Just tell me what anime your writing about. If I don't know it I'll do research.
Other : I'm not the best grammer and spell checker, but I do try. What I mainly look at is plot and character behavior/development.

I read : original science-fiction, fantasy, or historical fiction (with an emphasis on early Japan, China, and Korea) and fanfiction for FMA, Macross, Gundam (U.C., not Wing or SEED)... I'm also willing to try other fandoms, if you're looking for a beta who doesn't know the fandom. I will not read Naruto or Bleach fanfiction.
Other : I prefer to focus on story aspects and characterization, although I will also look over grammar and spelling.

I read : Original horror, thriller, science fiction, fiction and non-fiction, crime and mystery stories.
Other : I'm really good about catching grammatical errors and spelling mistakes that sometimes people and computer don't catch. I'm helpful with fixing a sentence's structure and also good with dialogue. Some of the things I'm best at are plot and story flow. Along with character development. To add on to some of the things I do, I'm good with ideas and things like that. I also wont be afraid to ask you what something means, or where a part of a story is going if I don't quite understand it. I'm good with my reviews, I don't make things seem like they're better then they really are. I'm always online, and I'll make sure to get back to you with my review as quickly as possible, even during the week days. I'm honest and helpful as much as I can be.

I read : original (realistic, preferably) or fanfiction. If you want input for characterization, I can only help with Death Note, .hack (anything in the franchise; I've read/seen/played it all xD), Naruto, Kingdom Hearts, Harry Potter. Otherwise, I'll go over grammar and spelling. :3 I read yaoi, yuri, and het~!
Other : I have no life, so I'm always online.
I tend to look over everything - plot, grammar, spelling. If something doesn't look or sound right, I'll correct it or point it out (depending on what it is). I'm not claiming I'm perfect though, so I'll go over it personally and have my computer do a check as well.
In terms of payment, I beta for free. :3

I have been known to have very quiet conniption fits when I encounter unexplained OOCness, especially in fanfiction, and I prefer not to beta sexually explicit work. All pairings are fine, and violence is fine also; I even like gratuitous angst (otherwise known as emo) stories if they're not too overdone. Orgy-fics are a no-no. Rape-fics are usually not my thing, but if there's more to the story than that, I'll give it a shot. Mpreg may be tolerated -- poorly.
Other:
I'm an easygoing beta who can be harsh if need be, but only if requested. I'm dreadfully precise about spelling, grammar, and other mechanics, and I've been told I'm best at characterization and character development. I'll usually run a preliminary scan for typos and basic mistakes, then settle in to focus on the content. I'm scarily thorough -- I take notes and then sum up once I'm finished with each section. I won't spare details, and I'm not hesitant with praise or with constructive criticism. Please spell-check before asking me to look at it; other than that I'm not picky about jumping in sight unseen.

Other : I love writing different types of fandom, more of one then the other. Hardly post up any of my orginal works, because in my eyes they don't look well. I do love reading a good action adventure novel or a really good fantasy romance story. So, yeah. I'm not very picky >_>

Other : I love reading. Especially fantasy. I read other stuff, but anything with magic really jumps out at me. I like to think I'm very good with grammar and plot points. If your story has an interesting plot twist, I'll read it. I really like to beta for long stories. Sexual situations are fine with me, as het, yuri, and yaoi. Rape fics are not really my type.

I read : Anything, as long as I know what it is. It's the content of the story that I'm more interested in. I write original fantasy, action, and sci fi, but I'm new at this, so it may broaden.
Other : I'm new at writing, but I've always had a creative mind for anything! I wouldn't mind, and actually prefer someone who has a strong criticism to my work. I'm a quick learner and love reading others stories so I can learn from them. I'm not new to yuri/ yaoi, or anything like that, so I'm not picky about that. I'm mostly into more creative stories though, either completely new, or putting a new twist on something, as long as it's something that I've never seen or heard of before. It keeps me interested and makes me wanna read more. biggrin

Other : I'm pretty blunt, as I'm not too good at sugar-coating what I want to say. Horrid grammar and unending typos make me cry. I'm good with imagery and description in general. I look for character development and plot devices. I'm online daily, and I'm fairly quick too.

Other:I've done very little beta work before, but I am obsessive about grammar. I'm mediocre at imagery and character depth is a must. I want to beta for short stories, I don't mind lemons either. Yaoi, yuri, and het are all fine with me.
