The man now leaned to the side of the door post, this was turning into a longer conversation than he had originally thought. Not that he minded, it was really quite nice to see someone so alive, after feeling like he had been dead for so long. Who wouldn't feel that way after living in a small room a good 99% of their time? Shenzi, despite her hair and clothing was...acceptable.
"Ah, that's right...I came by helicopter too, they don't have a runway here." Charlie tried to think back on his own time coming to the island, it did seem like ages ago...
Relaxing somewhat, Charlie let out a soft wheeze, "You know what they say, boys will be boys it seems." It certainly did take men longer to grow up than women...not that his Miller fellow was all that old. If he was playing games with Shenzi, it was most likely he was near his age. "There games just can't be helped."

Shenzi nodded her head to that statement; she hadn't seen a runway while coming in. Just s**t loads of trees, water, and the labs and a small town thing.
She couldn't help but give an unladylike snort. "And aren'y you yourself a boy?" Shenzi asked, laughter reflecting in her eyes as she grinned at him.

The older man smiled back. Ah, what a wonderful young woman, not afraid to be herself. There was also the bonus that she was actually a likeable person under that extravagant exterior. Had she been a bit more distasteful...
"I was he calmly replied, but I grew up and out of childish acts--nonetheless, I suppose you are right." Cheerfully he reached over and nicked the floppy creation off of the girls bright blue hair.
"As they say, boys will be boys."

She let off a noise of annoyance, as she fell over backwards to try and catch the hat, landing partly on a pile of clothes off to the side in her room. "Oy, what's with guys and my hat?" She mumbled as she sat up again, standing up with a foot in the middle of the clothes pile, her hat in her hand. Three Days Grace was still playing, the volume turned down low, and it was playing Just Like You.
I could be mean, I could be angry, You know I could be just like you. I could be fake, I could be stupid, You know I could be just like you
She quickly flipped off the stereo, grinning sheepishly at Charlie. "Sorry again about the music."

A little glimmer of...mischief? No, it wasn't anything like that, Charlie was only suggesting something, something which perhaps other people would care not to mention. He didn't particularly laugh as the blue haired beauty took a spill into the mess that was her floor, but he couldn't help but smirk. "Just remember Shenzi, you let yourself play the victim on that one. " Such a young thing, she probably wouldn't understand Charlie's message...but did he even understand his own message? Such is life, always vaguely aware of the answer, but never quite hitting it on the mark.
Patiently the man waited till the girl had finished fiddling with her stereo. What wretched music, no wonder today’s teenagers were so violent...such negative messages, where was the good? Yes, where was the good, everything about this place was negative.
"It's not a problem," Mumbled Charlie, removing himself from the door frame. He had most defiantly overstayed his welcome, her tone didn't express it, but Charlie could tell by the statement. "Just concerned, not upset." Now back out in the air, Charlie felt the disgusting p***k of humid weather against the back of his neck. Oh this weather...how he missed the desert, the dry acrid air. The jungle wetness of this place was unsettlingly disgusting. "Well Shenzi, it was a pleasure. You have a good day now." With that the man promptly turned his back and began to head back down the stairs.
...That hadn't been so bad.

Shenzi blinked as the man bid her farewell; she hadn't meant that as a dismissal at all, but he seemingly took it that way. Shrugging to herself, she gave him a parting wave and smile. "G'bye, Charles." She said, sliding back into her apartment, shutting the door with a soft click. She turned her music back on, though it was playing much quieter now...

November 2nd, 2006 With Aislinn Derry The Partiers? In the arcade Shenzi Thompson Shenzi had finally bothered herself enough to leave her apartment; she hadn't stepped out the door since the halloween dance, though one of the other patients had stopped at her room to complain of her music. He seemed nice enough... Shrugging to herself, she wrapped her coat tighter around herself; she was wearing tight fitting, torn pants with heavy boots and a bright yellow tube top. Probably not the wisest thing to wear, as it was getting colder. She had been wandering around, trying to figure out where things were, when she found what looked like a recreation room; games and the like filled it. Smiling to herself, she let her arms fall, the jacked falling open again as she approached one of the arcade games, Pac Man, flipping a quarter in and leaning against the machine. Aislinn_Derry Aislinn hobbled in shortly afterwards. Her own clothing revolved around an orange theme today, though she still had her rainbow-coloured socks thrown in for good measure. She noticed the other girl and smiled. Ah. She was obviously someone who might suffer from the same difficulty as herself. "Hello," she said to the other girl, "I'm Aislinn." She was obviously new-- she didn't seem to have changed forms at all yet. It seemed everyone Aislinn met these days hadn't changed a bit. But she'd seen enough who had in her brief few moments at the party to know they existed. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi looked up as she heard someone, a woman, adressing her. She turned around, grinning to see a woman dressed in bright orange, with vivid rainbow socks. Finally, someone with some color sense. She thought, laughing to herself as she brushed her hair over her shoulders. "Hullo, Aislinn. I'm Shenzi." She said with a smile, extending a hand as the leather of her jacket creased. "What happened to your leg, if you don't mind me asking?" Shenzi asked, looking down at the braces and the cane; it didn't look too comfortable, she could see that much; the thought that that particular question might be offensive didn't cross the blueberry's mind at all. Aislinn_Derry Aislinn's eyes narrowed a bit at the question, but she refrained from saying anything nasty. At this point, she was accustomed enough to the question to at least pretend she didn't care, "Horseback riding accident. Listen, I was wondering if you'd given any thought to your hair." She blinked, realizing that her wording was a little vague, and added, "To colouring. I'm pretty sure it's not naturally blue, and I've been trying to figure out how to keep the quickly-fading orang in my own." Shenzi Thompson Shenzi blinked, before grinning. Most of the time, people wouldn't generally ask, they'd just sit and stare or try not to look at her mop of a head. "Well, I generally bleach it every month or two, then go over it with the blue dye again. Naturally, my hair is insanely dark brown, so I gotta bleach it for this color." She stood away from the game, just looking at Aislinn's hair for a moment. "You just want straight out streaks, right? Nothing solid like this?" She asked as she made a small circle around her. Aislinn_Derry Aislinn shook her head, "I like the contrast between the black and the orange. I did full-colour once when I was a teenager, but I didn't really like it that much. The dark is better with my skin tone, really." She sighed, "I just don't know how to get my hands on the dye. I hate to go to the people in charge about that, though I'll have to face them sooner or later anyhow to ask for some other stuff I want. Don't suppose you have any crayolas?" She laughed. Using markers on her hair every day didn't really seem that fun. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi couldn't help but laugh along with the woman; she seemed very likeable, not to mention that she also seemed like the sort of person she was used to being around in New York. "Nah, no crayolas, though I've got some bottles of bleach if you want. Havn't got orange dye, though, only blue." She offered, though the last part sounded apologetic as she grinned sheepishly. "Straight out blue for me; tried red, purple, and green before, and they all looked funny." Shenzi said, shrugging slightly. Aislinn_Derry This chick was pretty cool. She should have figured as much from the hair, though. Aislinn smiled, "Bleach would be awesome. And I think I could do with blue for a little while 'till I can get ahold of some proper orange dye again. Purple I did for a while before the orange. It just doesn't contrast enough for my liking, though, and orange is such a pretty colour. " Shenzi Thompson Shenzi grinned in response. "Alright, want to head to my duplex then? We can do the bleach and dye right now if you'd like, or I can just hand it over to you so you can do it when you want...?" She said with another easy smile; her room wasn't too far, it had taken her maybe ten minutes of wandering before she found the arcade area. "Though personally, I like blue better then orange, but that's just me." She said, winking before laughing again. Aislinn_Derry Aislinn shrugged, "Not like I have anything better to do on this forsaken island. I wish they had a university or something. I don't care if I am turning into some sort of critter, I want to finish my education, or at least do -something-. " Hanging about was starting to get boring. She was one of those people who could only do nothing but vacation for so long before she went about mad. "'course, I still have to talk to Sayuri again about.." she realized she was rambling, "Let's go ahead and get it dyed now. I'll see what I can do about getting orange some other time. The blue works for you, though. Just doesn't mesh with my skin tone or my hair. " Shenzi Thompson Shenzi grinned. "I'm not one for the university stuff. Got a steady income with my band, and my teachers don't like me much as a student anyways." She said, laughing. "Alright then, c'mon." She smiled again, grabbing Aislinn's free hand, without the cane, and leading her out the door. (Continued in new thread; The Partiers) Aislinn_Derry Aislinn followed the other girl easily enough, "Eh. It's worth it for me. I work hard, get good grades...I like the satisfaction that comes with that. I can't really compete in much anymore, so school works out that way for me." She'd never really realized how competitive she was until she'd been injured. It wasn't that she was willing to hurt others, or really wanted to think she was better than them. She just wanted to succeed. At everything she did, and doing better than others was a good marker for that. If she beat only one person, then two, she was getting better, perfecting her form, perfecting her abilities. Shenzi Thompson They came in sight of the duplexes quickly enough, Shenzi still having a hold of Aislinn's hand, apparently having forgotten she still held it. "Mm, I like competition, though it depends on what it's in. Grades never really mattered much to me, I mean, I paid attention in class and s**t, but still." She said, shrugging her shoulders while throwing Aislinn and grin over her shoulder. They ascended the stairs to Shenzi's duplex, the blueberry slowing her pace a trifle, unsure as to whether Aislinn might need help on the stairs. Aislinn_Derry Aislinn didn't seem to need help on the stairs...but she was incredibly slow. She could, it seemed, only lift her legs so far, and putting weight on one of them caused her pain, so she had to pause between steps. "Eh. If you can't compete in sports or anything anymore, you find what you can to be good at. Besides, I never would've made it through college if I hadn't worked hard, and I really wanted to get decent enough grades to move on to veterinary college." Shenzi Thompson "A vet? That's cool. So you like working with animals, then?" She asked, seeming interested as she slowed her steps further, trying to make it look like she wasn't doing so intentionally. "I've just always been best at singing, better then anything else, so that's what I went with. Took belly and latin dance lessons to add to the mix, too." Shenzi grinned crookedly as she tilted her head to Aislinn.

November 3rd, 2006 With Newton FilinasFroggy Habits Shenzi Thompson Shenzi had decided to go wandering again today; Miller was cooped up in his apartment, or somewhere else, since he hadn't answered her banging. So she went off by herself, in a close fitting tank top, leather jacket, bright green beanie on her head, heavy boots and warm jeans. Wandering around the buildings had started to bore the blueberry, so she had started straying away from the paved paths, following a dirt path away from the duplexes and into the trees. Humming to herself, she started singing under her breath, letting her voice get louder to a general level; it was one song that Ed had written not too long after they started. Had nice enough lyrics, but she liked the melody more. Newton Filinas Newt had been taking his afternoon swim when he heard the voice through the trees, and immediatly turned to try to half hide in the water of the lake. Unfortunatly, his clothing still remained on the shore where anyone would spot the bright blue, stained janitorial jumper and undershirt. with the top of his head and bulbous froggy eyes above the water, he inched closer, scanning for anyone who might be passing by and spot him. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi continued singing to herself, walking closer to the lake now visible through the trees. Smiling to herself, she quickened her pace towards the water, but paused as she saw a pile of clothes on the bank of the lake. "Who..." She mumbled under her breath, frowning slightly as she looked up to see... See... What is that? Shenzi thought to herself, taking another half step forward. "Uhmm, sorry to surprise you...?" Newton Filinas Newt gave a startled squeek, disappearing under the water for a few moments befor he resurfaced again slowly, as though checking to see if she was still there. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi was giving the person, man, thing, a weird look as she heard a loud squeak, then a small splash. She took a few more steps closer to the water, letting a friendly, open smile light her face. "I won't hurt you. Or do you just want to change?" She asked, grinning. Newton Filinas The human was still there and seemed intent on not leaving. Newt swallowed, and his voice was breathy and trembling when he spoke, "I... I... I ah... W-woo-woo-was j-just... er..." He had never seen her befor- and figured he would have remembered someone with such bright colored hair- she definatly wasn't Awen, who was the only other person with blue hair he could think of. Did she know about the island? Was he about to have to break the news to yet another, only to be laughed at? There was nothing he could do but try to be polite. Nerviously, he swam closer to shore, lifting his head out of the water to peer at her a bit better as he moved to crouch in the mud. "I've... ah... n-n-nuh-nuh-never seen... you around b-befor?" He managed lamely. It was a start, at least. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi couldn't help but stare as the man swam closer; man didn't seem like an appropriate word. Again, Nita's words to her and Miller came back into her head, of tricking people onto the island, animal transofrmations... She held a hand to her head, sitting down on the dirt and sand shore. "N-No, I don't think you would have..." She said softly, shaking her head before looking up again. He had large eyes, and greenish, almost slimy, looking skin, though the water might account for that. What she could see of his hands under the water seemed to be webbed. "I'm Shenzi." She said, giving another smile despite the sickness that had been slowly growing in her mind, after meeting the tentacle man and realizing Nita spoke truly. It couldn't be possible, yet it was. And there was proof right in front of her nose; how could she deny it now? Newton Filinas Newt kept to a froggish crouch once he was close enough for the water to be shallow, watching her warily with his head held low self conciously, "I... I... I h-hope... um... I'm n-not... I d-don't.... er... m-make you uncomfortable... I... I know how... ah..." His eyes flickered and he lifted his webbed hands to twist them in front of his cream colored belly, his knees pressed against his shoulders. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi waved her hands hurriedly, shaking her head. "No, not at all! It's just... Weird, kinda. They-They tested on you, right...?" She asked, fearing the answer even as he twitched his long fingers. What is he? She said animals, and she was a red panda... A frog or something... Shenzi let that thought cross through her head as she resting her chin on her knees, staring at the sand. Newton Filinas He hopped forward at that, splishing and splashing as he made his way to the bank to shake the water off of his long floppy froggish feet and slimy spotted back, his greasy black curls sticking to his forhead. "Ah... y-yes," He gave a sigh of releif that he didn't have to awkwardly explain at the very least. Shenzi Thompson She held her head in her hands, her feet sliding down in the sand as her hair, unbound, fell down around her shoulders. " Zatratit. Shitshitshit..." She mumbled this littany under her breath, before taking a deep breath and leaning her head back, eyes shut. After a moment, she opened her eyes again, looking at Newt with eyes full of sympathy, both for him and herself. She gave him a somewhat shaky smile, leaning on her hands on her knees. "So I don't believe I caught your name..." Shenzi said; she never thought she'd be sitting on a shore, talking with some kind of frog man. Newton Filinas At her mummbled exclimation, Newt's head ducked down against his chest, his hands raising to twist as he squatted in front of his jumper, not bothering with a towel. He liked being wet, afterall. "Ah... N-n-n-nuh-newton," He managed to stutter shyly, and his cheaks would have been crimson had he still been able to blush. Shenzi Thompson She couldn't help but laugh softly at his bashful expression. "Nice to meet you, Newton." She said, smiling easily, giving the thoughts of transformation a mental shove to the back of her mind, though it was slightly difficult, what with a result right in front of her. Turning to look at his pile of clothes, she picked up the jumped, frowning and looking at him, because she had noticed the little name tag. "You work here?" Shenzi asked, eyes going back to the logo on his tag. Newton Filinas Newt's eyebrows raised, his throat suddenly inflating widely for a nervious ribbit befor he reached to pull the jumper away from her, his voice dripping with embarassment, "I... I... I s-sort of used to!" Shenzi Thompson Shenzi let off a sigh; no, if he worked for the lab still, why would he be changing too? "And some final paycheck you got..." She said, giving him an apologetic smile. "Sorry about jumping to conclusions." Shenzi ducked her head quickly, crossing her legs indian style in front of her. "So how long have you been here? I mean, when did you get the shot?" She wanted to figure out when she'd change; it probably wouldn't help her state of mind, but she had to know. Newton Filinas The frog man gathered the jumper up in his hands, sitting down to try to slip his large feet back through the legs of it clumsily, "I... oh, I'm n-not sure... ages ago... ah... m-m-months, I th-think? Ah... wh-when... wh-when did you g-get here?" Shenzi Thompson Shenzi shrugged slightly. "Last week or so. A week and a half before my birthday." Now she let a twisted, ironic smile cover her face. "Some birthday present." She made a face, wrinkling her nose. "And they took my cigarettes, too." A plaintive look accompanied this announcement, before she laughed shortly. "Though I was sent here for rehab, so it makes sense, but still." Newton Filinas "C-cuh-cuh-cigarettes? Y-you look t-too young to be sm-sm-smoking," Newt shook his head, his own pack toppling from his pocket as he struggled to pull his jumper back on. "it's a f-f-fuh-filthy habit." Shenzi Thompson She raised an eyebrow as a box of the current conversation topic fell from his jumper. "Really. And besides, I'm legal for it in three days, and that's why I'm in rehab for anyways. Smoking and boozin." Shenzi said with an easy shrug. "Turn 18 on the seventh, so what's the difference?" Newton Filinas As he noticed his dropped back, he picked up the pack to push it away again, looking embarassed once again, "Ah... j-just... how m-much... er... sm-sm-smoking and b-boozing... d-did you do?" He glanced up at her, now looking a bit wary. Smoking and drinking was part of being a teenager, afterall. How much did a girl have to drink and smoke to be sent in for perfessional help? It made the frog man nervious. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi shrugged slightly. "Eh, didn't seem like alot to me. It was more the drinking and dabbling that I was sent in for. My mom drinks like a fish; she's Czech, and they love booze, so that passed down to me. The smoking was something more to do with the fact I grew up in new york city." She smiled as she remembered the streets; full if irritated people, punks, goths, neon lights, up till all hours of the night. "My dad got worried after awhile, though; my mom has high tolerance for alchohol, and so do I, but he didn't want me to get completely addicted, not that I am. So they shipped me here." She shrugged again, nonchalantly. Newton Filinas Newt's eyes flickered to the side again awkwardly. He knew about strict parents, but he had always tried his hardest to be an obediant child. "Ah... and... and... y-you... are aware th-that... th-that this... this p-place isn't a... rehabilitation c-clinic?" Shenzi Thompson Again, the twisted smile. "So I've learned." She sighed again, laying back on the sand, her hands behind her head. "Havn't met too many people, but the guy I came with is here cus he's in deep debt, so he's doing medical testing s**t. Dunno why Nita or Chubbs is here, and I think Aislinn's here cus've her leg, not sure." Newton Filinas "I... I'm h-here... b-because I w-was... was f-fired, I sup-suppose," Newt sighed, struggling with the arms of his jumper befor he managed to get it on properly and zipped it up. He then concentrated on rolling up the legs and sleeves to be a bit cooler in the tropical heat. Shenzi Thompson "You worked here before they fired you, though, right? Wouldn't make much sense to fire someone in the States and then fly them out to some tropical středisko. 'We dumped you, so we're sending you to the bahamas as an apology!'" She said, laughing softly under her breath. Newton Filinas "Th-th-the... th-the st-states? Oh, n-no, I'm n-n-not American... B-but... b-but yes, I w-worked up at the lab-lab-laboratory," he pronounced it lah-bor-ah-tore-ee, "Ah... untill... um... " He coughed and the terrible embarassed expression came back again as he fidgeted with his pantleg, wiggling his long webbed toes anxiously. He wasn't sure what stredisko was, but he figure dit would be rude to ask so he ignored it, and figured it meant Island. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi smiled encouragingly; he was certainly shy, or maybe just nervous, which might account for the stutter. "I'm not full american. Half american, half czech. Středisko means resort. Sorry if I confused you, I slip czech things in sometimes. Apologies." She said, grinning sheepishly. Newton Filinas "Oh, n-no, it's... it's alright..." He mumbled befor finally giving up and pulled the pack from his pocket again, "Ah... w-well... s-since this isn't r-rehabilitation r-really.... w-would you like one?" Change of subject. No need to dwell on his own failings and how he'd gotten himself landed here. It was his own fault, afterall. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi smiled broadly, accepting one of the cigarettes. "Yes, as a matter of fact I would, good sir Newton." She said, laughing softly while pulling her lighter out; she had had three when she came, but two of them got thrown away before she got on the coptor. The third one made it only because she hid it in her bra. The lighter was decorated with the czech republic flag, with the name Shenzi written on it in sharpie. Lighting the cigarette, she let it rest on her lips, holding the lighter out to Newt as she took a long pull off it, grinning cheerfully. Newton Filinas The frog accepted it, lighting his own befor taking a nervious pull and he seemed to relax ever so slightly, his shattered nerves lulled by the sweet, sweet tingle of niccotine. "Ah.. if... if y-you w-want, you c-can c-call me Newt.. It's... it's sh-shorter and.. um... easier.. and... everyone c-calls me th-that." Shenzi Thompson Shenzi smiled over at him, blowing out some of the smoke through her lips. "Mmm hmm, alright then Newt. And Zee is fine if you want, doesn't matter too much to me, since Shenzi's my stage name anyways." She laughed softly; it felt good to have a cigarette after a week without one. Sabin had gotten rid of her packs, and she hadn't met anyone yet who'd had any, not till Newt at least. Newton Filinas "Z-z-zz-zee m-might be easier for me to say," He laughed timidly. He was getting hungry, but wasn't about to go hunting in front of the human, and intended not to. But dragonflies were common around the lake, and delicious. He felt his eyes being drawn to every slight buzzing movement out across the water, willing the insects to stay away from their little bit of shore. He half crawled half hopped backward to settle downa nd lean his shoulder against a nearby rock and he tried to ignore the urge to lift it up and see what was crawling under it. Shenzi Thompson "Whatever works for you, Newt." She said, grinning as she rolled onto her belly, pulling the leather jacket off and brushing the sand off the sleeves, folding it up and putting it under her head as a pillow. Taking another drag on the cigarette, she rested her cheek on her jacket, her bare arms wrapped around it. She watched the frog-man settle down against a rock, and she grinned, watching him get comfortable. "So what do you do in your free time, Newt?" Newton Filinas "Oh... ah... th-this, I suppose... I... I used to... to t-try to k-keep up my d-duties... I m-mean... th-they... d-didn't exaclty *t-tell* me I was f-fired at first..." He babbled, "B-but... I.. um... b-build things... g-go for... for s-swims..." Shenzi Thompson Shenzi giggled, looking over at him again. "Hey, swimming is fun. The frog feet help with that I guess." There might be advantages to being animalized, though Shenzi couldn't for the wolrd of her imagine what she might become, and she didn't want to know either. Newton Filinas "I... I sup-sup-suppose..." Newt murmured, wriggling his long webbed toes thoughtfully, "I... I th-think I'd st-still... r-rather have my old f-feet back, though." Shenzi Thompson She smiled sympathetically. "Yeah, I can understand that. Can't say I want to be here anymore, not with the changes and stuff. But... It might be interesting, I guess. Would definately be something that'd freak my grandparents out." Shenzi said; that put a new light on her situation. It was still pretty shitty, but that was one thing to look forward to. Newton Filinas That was a thought Newt had been avoiding. His throat jumped in a distinctly froggish manner as his eyes wobbled, threatening tears. His father! What would his father think if he saw him now? Not only had he failed at the one job he had been decent at, he was now a frog to cap it all off! A small sort of squeek escaped his throat as he tucked his face behind his knees, still clutching his cigarette in a trembling webbed hand. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi looked dumbly at the frog-man for a moment; what was he doing? After a moment, she realized he was crying, or at least trying not to. His shoulders shook barely, and his fingers barely had hold of the cigarette. Pulling the cigarette from his hand, she rested it on the ground, and hesitated. After a second of hesitation and thought, she gently put her hand on his shoulder. "I-I'm sorry..." She said; she wasn't entirely sure what she was apologizing for, but it was something she said that triggered something. Newton Filinas "It's n-n-n-n-nn-nuh-nuh-not..." His stutter seemed to have worsened in his anxiety, and his voice wavered and broke, thick tears dribbling down his sunken green cheaks, "I... I... I....!" Shenzi Thompson Shenzi rubbed her hand on his back, crooning softly. "It's okay, it's okay..." She really had no clue what he was unhappy about, though it started around when she mentioned her grandparents. Did he have problems with his? Or was it his parents? "Want to talk about it?" She asked. She wasn't really much of a listener, and not much of a sympathetic ear, but sometimes even the appearance of an attentive listener helped. Newton Filinas "M-m-my... my f-father..." Newt finally managed after several false-starts, "W-woo-woo-would n-not... not ap-approve of m-me being a f-frog! H-he... he h-hardly ap-ap-approved of... of... of me b-be-b-buh-being a cus-cus-custodian!" Despite the rediculousness of his statement, he seemed thouroughly upset by the thought of it. Shenzi Thompson It was hard to make out what he was saying, but she finally managed to understand. Disapproving father, pretty much. Sounded similar to her grandparents. "If it helps any, my grandparents hate me. Long story short, they didn't even want me born." She said, a small, twisted smile on her face. Newton Filinas At the sound of that, the frog-man's throat inflated in a sligthly exasperated fashion, and his face paled slightly, "M-my my F-father is a good man, who l-lo-lo-loves me ver-ver-very much!!" It was unclear whether it was his stutter that made him say it so forcefully, or something else that was bothering him. Shenzi Thompson She held up her hands in defense. "I'm just tryin' to help! Jezuita, was just saying my grandparents don't approve of me either." Shenzi said, shrugging; she had almost no expirience dealing with sour moods. Most of the time she just said get over it and left it at that. Newton Filinas "Y-you... you'll s-sound difference once you ch-change, oh, it seems n-nice now, oh, y-yes, b-but y-you aren't *you* and y-you c-can never go back! It's all over! Y-you're... y-you're a l-luh-lab rat now! Y-you are a s-sub-sp-species! Y-you have no r-rights to anything!" She had hit a nerve in the frog-man, even if she hadn't meant to. It seemed months of pent up sorrow were leaking through his watery constitution. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi pulled her hand away as he grew more and more agitated, a nervous look on her face as she pulled her hair back from her face. She had no clue how to deal with this. "I never said I'd enjoy it." She said stiffly, standing up while picking up the up-till-now-forgotten cigarette, and sticking it between her lips. "Look, I'm just trying to help. You don't want it? Okay, that's your choice." Shenzi knelt down, picking up her hat again. "Again, I'm sorry for whatever I said. I'm perfectly willing to talk, as long as things aren't being flung back and forth." Newton Filinas Newt fell silent, although the force of trying to keep in his sobs popped out in the form of a sad ribbit. "I... I... I'm s-sorry... I'm s-sorry, I sh-shouldn't have y-yelled, I'm s-sorry... I'm... I'm.. I'm j-just... I'm upset, b-but th-that's no excuse for b-being rude..." Shenzi Thompson Shenzi promptly sat back down again, a mollified gleam in her eyes. "It's alright to cry and be upset. But taking it out on a friend isn't right." She said. She didn't want to lecture him or make him think the way she did, but those were just her beliefs; if she was pissed, she'd go find a punching bag or something. Though the czech doubted Newt would be able to punch a sack without it hitting him in return. "It's okay to be upset." She said again, and this time gave him a hug without hesitation. "It's not good to keep emotion inside, cus it messes with your head and makes your life a living hell. Not that this island isn't doing a damned upstanding job of that." Newton Filinas At the sudden hug, Newt stiffened, trembling quicker, his breathing coming in short, raspy hyperventilating breaths. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi pulled back after a moment, giving the frog-man a quizical look as he started breathing loudly. "Are... You alright Newt?" She asked, frowning. Newton Filinas "F-f-fine, I'm ... I'm f-fine..." he panted, his voice high and weak, "I... I... I sh-should be going, It w-was n-nice to meet you-" He babbled, suddenly pulling away to hop towards the water, jumper and all. "I... I'm s-sorry you'll n-never reconcile with your g-grandparents!" Shenzi Thompson She didn't move; she just kinda looked at him. "Sure you're alright?" Shenzi asked again, but she couldn't help but grin at what he said. "Oh, I don't plan on it any time soon, and I doubt they do either. Anyways, if you ever want to ring me up or some s**t, I'm in duplex seventy-eight." She said, smiling encouragingly as she stood up again, giving him a wave. Newton Filinas He seemed far too flustered by his own inner drama to note her friendly goodbye, leaping into the water to swim away like a startled frog in a garden pond.

November 4th, 2006 With Gallen MarcussLunch, Shall We? Shenzi Thompson As Shenzi entered the cafeteria, she gave the room a quick run over; she saw Aislinn in there, talking with someone she didn't know. Deciding not to say hello just yet, Shenzi walked over to the food line, hands in the pockets of her leather jacket; she was wearing a tube top again, a vivid shade of red, and tight plaid green jeans with heavy black boots. It was warm enough to wear the shirt, but not enough to go without the jacket. Grabbing a tray, she stood in the line, looking at what there was to offer, her blue hair tied into two braids, one falling over her shoulder; she had skipped on her hat today. Gallen Marcuss Gallen had not been feeling great since the Halloween party ended, for the past two days he stayed in his duplex, socking once more in a hot tub. What ever the doctors had started to do to him seemed to require him to instinctually need to be in warm at long periods of time. But today was a beautiful day, and he be dammed if the events of the Halloween party or of what the lab had done to him would stop him form enjoying the day. He decided to head to the cafeteria to get a nice breakfast. As he stepped out side he took a long stretch and then rushed to the cafeteria. Once in he quickly wondered to the buffet tables. He was dressed in a green shirt with the Green Lantern logo printed on it, his usual kaki cargo pants, and his trade mark blue chucks. He also had begun to wear the gloves he got for his costume so to cover up the scales forming on his hands. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi looked up as someone else entered the cafeteria; it wasn't that full, so it was hard to not notice someone coming in. A short blond guy, by the looks of him. Shorter then her, and to Shenzi at least, that was saying something. Raising an eyebrow, she gave him a friendly smile while picking up a sandwhich. "Hullo there, Blondie." Gallen Marcuss Gallen looked up and grinned as he saw the blue haired girl. “Blondie?” he blushed, not many girls called him that, let alone noticed him back in new York. He wondered over and started to servie what was out for breakfast. “Not sure what to say in response to ‘Blondie’” he grinned “your new around here, no?” Shenzi Thompson She laughed, grinning at him. "Yeah, got here last week for rehab. How could you tell?" Shenzi asked, sticking her tongue out at him before laughing again, taking her tray and grabbing a drink. She stood at the end of the line, leaning against the railing that seperated the lines, waiting for him to grab his stuff. "Want to sit with me?" Gallen Marcuss Before Gallen could respond she had asked him to sit with her, he blushed then snapped back to reality. “Rehab? Oooh that was there way to trick you here?” He sighed as he grabbed a salad and a small piece of fish. He soon joined her on the opposite side of the bar. “Well it is not hard to notice, you are one the few here who are still “Normal”. He grinned as his slightly pointier and fuzzy ears twitched. “So would you like to sit by the window, and enjoy the day? It is lovely out side” a bit of his Irish accent bleed through with those last words. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi let off a sigh, rolling her eyes. The constant repetition of 'Lies, tricks, turning into animals' was slowly wearing her down. She believed now, after seeing Newt and talking to him, but still. "Eh, doesn't matter to me." She said with a shrug, making her way to one of the window tables. Her tray clattered onto the table loudly as she sat down, grinning at her companion. "So, what's your name, Blondie?" Gallen Marcuss Gallen set his tray down and smiled, “Gallen, Gallen Marcuss. And your name is?” he sat down and looked up, his green eyes meeting hers. Shenzi Thompson "Kamila Thompson, though you can call me Shenzi." She said with another smile, taking a healthy bite out of her sandwhich; plain chicken on white bread. "So how long've you been here?" Newt's answer hadn't necassarily helped, only really told her that the changes are slow, over a couple months. "You havn't... Changed... Much I see." She said hesitantly> The only things she could see were his ears, and maybe his hair; there were weird markings on his forehead, but that could just be a tatoo. Gallen Marcuss “Not long, about a month I guess” he looked down at his food, he was embarrassed she noticed his changes. “Yhea, it took about three weeks till I started to ….change. I came here originally looking for my sister.” He looked up and smiled. "So rehab, that must be tough.” Shenzi Thompson A few weeks, then, I've got a couple weeks more... As that went through her head, she shrugged in response to his statement. "Eh, kinda. Used to it; been to one before this. Happens when you live in New York, I guess." She said, laughing under her breath. Gallen Marcuss Gallen’s ears Perked up, “New York!!! I lived in New York too, lived there since I was 15, went to NYU.” His voice lowered a bit, “that’s how this whole mess began.” He fiddled with the Celtic medallion he wore around his neck. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi grinned; a fellow New Yorker! Well, how about that. "Born and raised there. Havn't gone to college, I'm a high school senior right now. Though I don't plan on going to college; getting enough money from gigs, so I think me and my buddies are good." Gallen Marcuss he smiled and then sighed, "you weren’t told, were you." Then he quickly changed the subject, "gig, so your a musician? That is cool" he took a bite of hi salad and then drank some of the orange juice he grabbed. "So where your friends and you any good, Shenzi?" Shenzi Thompson "Told what, about the island turning people into animals?" She let the question dropas he changed the conversation topic. If he wanted to avoid the topic, fine. She could probably ask Newt or maybe Nita later. "Kinda. Singer. My two friends are the musicians of the band." At his second question, she let out an unlady like snort. "Good? Course we were good! Ask any band if they think they're good and they'll say 'hell yes!' We had alot've gigs, so I'd think we were. Have a CD, too." She said that last one proudly; her group hadn't found a record company to sponsor Wild Glory yet, so the fact that they had a CD anyways meant something to her. Gallen Marcuss “hahahahaaa, that was a silly question. Sorry that was the radio personality in me. Before all this, I was studying communications. I had hopes to go into radio, be a DJ, have my own talk show, ask silly questions like that. So you guys have a CD.” The name Wild Glory Gallen thought he had heard of from some friends back in college, small and that had quiet a stage presences. “So do you have a copy of it, I love to hear it.” He smiled genuinely, he enjoyed hearing new music. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi grinned broadly. "Got a couple copies. One for myself, the others I brought with the hopes of selling them off. If you stop by my room at some point, I can get you one." She said, her smile cheerful and friendly. "A DJ though? If you ever land a job, be sure to play one of our songs!" She said, with a face of mock-admonishment as she waggled a finger at him, before laughing and taking another bite of her sandwich. Gallen Marcuss His smile faded as he looked down and took a bit of his fish, “yhea, if I land a job…. Sort of hard when your stuck on an island being turned into god knows what….so what is your duplex number?” he took another bite, as his ears seem to try, unsuccessfully, to fold back to show his down emotion Shenzi Thompson Shenzi's smie disappeared, replaced with a glower that was directed more towards her unoffending chicken sandwich then anything. "Very true. Though it might be cool in a band, can't imagine an animal-DJ would be too poppular." "Duplex 78, second floor. Right above Miller Milano, if you know him." She said, munching on her sandwich. Gallen Marcuss “yhea I guess, probably be great for a rock group….if you can still sing. That if they let you off the island. Sigh” he frowned more as he started to pick at his food. “Miller? Was he that guy who got knocked upside the head with the Bottle at the Halloween party?” Shenzi Thompson She glowered at the very idea. "They take my voice, I'll make their lives living hell. Simply stated." At the mention of the halloween party, she frowned slightly. "Halloween party? Didn't know Miller went. Tried to get him to go with me, said he didn't want to. Have no clue. Was he tall, messy brown hair, kinda goofy face?" Gallen Marcuss "looks like a hobbit? yhea I think it was him. quiet guy whenIi came around." So took another bite, "So you two came togeather? is he your boyfirend?" Shenzi Thompson She snorted again, managed to swallow her bite of food, before laughing louudly, her head falling forward before she managed to stop the laughter. "N-No, he's not my boyfriend." Shenzi said, still chortling. "I don't generally date people. No boyfriend, no problems. Or even girlfriend, for that matter." She said, laughing again. "But yeah, we came together. No relation beyond that, though." Gallen Marcuss Laughing with her, he took another bit of fish, “Sorry, I came here alone so I kid of figured. Well he seems like a nice guy….I guess. Hard to say when you got slugged with a glass bottle. So, I get this question a lot, but do you know what they are turning you into.” He went silent, “sorry I just was wondering if someone could tell me how to find out.” He looked at his gloved hand holding the fork subconsciously. Shenzi Thompson Shenzi's smile disappeared abrubtly, and she leaned back in her chair, hands behind her head as she stared at the ceiling. "Not a ********' clue, to be honest. And I don't want to think about it. Just want some good vodka and a light, so I don't have to think about it..." She said, running her fingers through her hair. Gallen Marcuss “I am sorry, I just ..well am not use to this.” He pointed to his face and the altered nose and ears, “I agree on the Vodka, the smokes not so much. But anything would be great just to make one forget about this bad dream” He looked up and smiled, “So you are a singer, wonder if anyone else on this island plays music or sings, could start a group up here to pass the time.” Shenzi Thompson She looked back at him, one dark brown eyebrow arched up. "And why should you be? Some whackos are turning you into a damned animal. Why should you be used to it? And I'd offer you a drink, but the dear Doctor took my bottle before I unpacked." Shenzi said, making a face. "Mm, that'd be interesting. But my buddies come first and foremost." She said, nodding her head to emhasize her point. Gallen Marcuss “your right. They took away your bottle, sigh. I am not much for pushing underage drinking, but I say one should be entitled to some pleasures like that, specially if we are all going to be giant fuzz balls in the end of all this.” He sighed and shook his head, “ Well maybe we can encourage some folks to join in a band idea, maybe hold a concert in a month.” He took another bite, “it be fun, give us all something to do.” Shenzi Thompson "Haha, maybe. Well, anyways, I gotta run now. See yah later?" She asked with a smile, standing up with her tray. Putting the tray on the dish stand, she gave him one last wave before running back to her apartment.

Nothing sucks more than being sick. Or, at least, nothing sucks more than being sick on the Island of Dr. Moreau, because it usually is the hearald of a change. Not that Shenzi necessarily knows that.
A heavy fever following turbulent dreams greets you the next morning. Your whole body is hot and shakey, your muscles sore, and the skin all along your arms dry and cracky.
It only gets worse as the day progresses, particularly around your arms. The skin is sensitive and cracking all on your hands, and in rough patches along your arms as well. IT's only later that the discoloration sets in and the skin actually begins to harden - at first like old callouses, leathery and thick, and worse as the day progresses. By the time your finger and toenails begin to harden, lengthen, and sharpen, your hands have become covered in yellow, leathery scales, with patches down your arm up to your elbow as well.
The base of your tailbone and your feet then begin to hurt like nothing else. Then, in a slow process, but still feels like growing pains multiplied by a ridiculous amount and sped up in terms of body physiology, your tailbone unfuses and begins to grow out longer, and longer, and longer until you sport a long, naked tail. Meanwhile, your feet begin to lengthen as well, the toes thickening and leathery pads forming at the bottoms leaving your feet built for digitigrade walking.
Then, pointed itching begins at other spots - the base and tip of your tail, spots on your upper arms, around the base of your neck and the tips of your enlarging ears as small quill-like pinions break through your hair follicles and unfurl into tiny, brown feathers.

November 16th, 2006 Later that day... Dreams And A Cold Sweat Shenzi had gotten back from the lake, where she had met Awen and Rachel, a few hours ago. She was starting to feel kind of sick, so had felt it best to just head back. She had sat around for a few hours, before deciding to crawl into bed; she was feeling nauseous now, and she didn't like it, not one bit. Turbulent dreams tormented her sleep. Tossing and turning in her bed, she was wracked by nightmares. She saw her grandparents faces, frowning and bitter, scolding her for yet another thing supposedly done wrong. Then her parents and Angelo... Their love showed through, but they were snatched away by mysterious wings, leaving behind only a few brown feathers, which dissolved in the darkness. Small sparks of light showed in the dark, illuminating a figure, but she couldn't tell what it was. She just saw a flash of blue hair, wings, and gleaming silver cat eyes, then a flash of claws and a ripping pain... ~*~ Shenzi sat bolt upright in her bed, eyes dilated, her body drenched in sweat. She had been dreaming... Of what, she couldn't quite remember, just that her grandparents were in it, and her mom and dad, and little Angelo. Putting her hand to her forehead, she let out a raspy breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. Looking over to her alarm clock, it said 11:32pm. She'd been sleeping for a few hours, if you could call the restlessness sleep. "Hovno , teď jaký..." She mumbled to herself, lying back down and staring at the ceiling. After a moment, she rolled over, shutting her eyes, dreading the darkness that swallowed her.
