The naming system doesn't work the same way in the FF7 world as it does in ours. I mean, the main characters only ever use thier first name, even when dealing with the Shinra President. It's possible that last name aren't in as much use.
Although, I'm pretty sure in DoC it was revealed that Lucrecia was married to Hojo...
Fact: Gast's last name has been revealed to be Faramis.
Sephiroth probably doesn't legally have a last name. It's the same with Genesis; the sceince department gives specimens names according to what they expect out of the project, and no last name, which implies a disconnection with the rest of the populace. With names like that, do they even need a last name? Just how many other "Sephiroth"s are there?
And for those aruguing about other things, the pronunciatin "Nee-bell-Hyme" is the way the word is pronounced in the original Norse language. No translation error there.

Jhay-R Yeah, a friend of mine by the name of Vincent, no lie, said that Sephiroth's last name was Crescent. Man, he got that information back in 2004.... ANYWHO, yeah, I guess his fool name should he ever want one would be his mother's last name, rather than taking the name of the father who never loved and only abused him. And, as for the Lucrectia thing, I was weirded out too. I always thought it would be "Loo-Cree-Sha" rather than "Loo-cret-cee-uh." It's weird they pronounce the names.... Same thing with Nibelheim. I thought it was Nibelhiem, so I always pronounced it "Nibel-he-um" rather than "Nibel-hyme." Weird.... Names are pronounced differently like that because of the origin that they came from. Nibelhiem is prounouced Ni-bul-hyme instead of Ni-bell-he-um because it originates in Germany. It is in fact believed to be "Frozen Hell" in Norse mythology, which is a proper name due to the burning of the town and how it never seemed to change from its dark and deceiving ways. Lucrecia comes from a Roman background, as explained in my Name Origins Topic. Roman prnunciation also strays from our own, leaving you with Lu-crete-zia.

Good point.
Anyway, could Hojo be his last name? I think I've heard of professors having their last names put first in their title.
