The whole weekend of nekocon my friends and I went everywhere in our costumes and most of the places werent near nekocon so no one knew what we were doing. We went to Kmart three nights in a row, and one of my friends was dressed as Rock Lee, so of course we attracted lots of wierd looks. It was reaaally embarrasing, but so funny. We went to see the inredibles on sunday, and I wore my ebisu costume which was halarious because i used my credit card and the person was looking at my id, and then looking at me, trying to see if it was really mine, lol. I finally took off my sunglasses and was like, It's me, i promise. I was totally embarrased and would never be able to do it if i wasnt with friends, but it was oh so funny.

I have cosplayed to school before, earning some odd looks but every one knew I lead the anime club so they weren't SOOO freaked out. I am going to cosplay as either Princess Serenity or Manga Human form Luna to my girlfriend's prom.

I cosplayed Meruru form Escaflowne for a con, so that wasn't bad. But my local Walden's Books held a mangacelebration, and a cosplay competition. So me and 3 others dressed up and walked right down the middle of the mall. X3 I ended up winning first place, which was a Kyo plushie. I already had it...so I gave it to my friend who came along dressed as kyo. xp

Mandaya When Resident Evil: Apocalypse, I Cosplayed all day as Jill from RE1. The costume wasn't completely finished, but I still had most of it. biggrin It was really fun. People did stare, and once when I had worn it on just a regular day to the movies, some guy looks at me and says something like, "Wow, some people are sick/have no life." stressed stressed -Jerk. crying I went as Claire Redfield and my friend went as Chris. It was awesome!! Nobody really knew who I was because there weren't many people, but I loved it. AWESOME!! You have more life than that guy ever will have, and definately more guts! pirate

Let's see. I cosplay MAINLY in public. It's nuts, I know, but I love it! If there's a movie out, I go dressed up. I went as Catwoman to see Batman Begins, and Selene when I went to see Underworld 2. I dress up at school every chance I get, even for projects. When I did book reports on The Lord of the Rings, I went as a different character for every book, and Gollum when I did The Hobbit. I went randomly to CVS on Halloween as Edward Scissorhands and scared little kids (not on purpose). I love it!!!! heart pirate

This Saturday I'll be preforming at an Anime Marathon and Cosplay. It's at the Freer Art Gallery in D.C.
Where the DC Anime Club will be cosplaying on stage inbetween movies. ^.^
And next weekend (Sat.), I'll be going to a cosplay.com meet-up on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. XD It looks like it'll be a BIG crowd. ^.^

Cosplaying in public is the most fun thing ABOUT cosplaying, in my opinion. I don't understand why some people are so skittish about dressing up in strange costumes and going to public places... I mean, if it was somewhere where EVERYONE knew you, then maybe I might be a little hesitant, but most of the time I cosplay in the mall or Wal-Mart or K-Mart in a city we only go to on the weekends.
I do it for the crazy stares! I think they're funny! And embarassing my 'normal' friends is just the icing on the cake. ^^' Then again, I'm kinda just bold like that...
Like right now! I'm at school, and I wore an all-black outfit today, so I decided to wear my newly-finished gloves for my upcoming Envy costume (FMA), which look ridiculously cool and make me feel less like a big dork. It's not as if it matters, because EVERYONE at this college ignores me, no matter whether I'm wearing a Menchi hat, a pair of tiger ears and a tail, a big hooded cloak, a purple wig... it's kinda annoying and fun at the same time! I feel like I could wear almost anything to this college and no-one would care, but then I won't get those freaked out stares that I've come to love. mrgreen

though when I get done with the boots I'm working on now (Gon's from Hunter x Hunter) I'm SOO gonna be wearing them like constantly~ <333

My costume got the BEST cheers and about halfway through the day my frined came in a Roy Mustang outfit, and this girl in an Edward costume had just come to watch the movies. But we pulled her up halfway through so we had a full 3 FMA cosplayers!! XD It was the best when we were walking out to get food, some girl across the street in a huge crowd screamed "WINRY!!" and that completly made my day. ^.^

I've cosplayed in public before. It entertains me because people look at you funny. I find it entertaining because people are willing to say that they support individuality, but they'll give you dirty looks for being a little bit different.

LiaFairyle ...what is it with Edward Elric coats being worn outside of costumes? OK, I admit it, I actually started that costume as an excuse to have the coat, but still... It keeps you nice and warm on cold days? lol That only time I've cosplay outside cons is on Halloween. Other times I would wear Ed's coat on cold days.
