Assuming that by the word soul you are referring to something metaphysical, some sort of undetectable energy that contains you personality and/or memories, that lives on after you die. I have one main objection to believing in a soul.
The personality and memories can be altered by chemicals, or brain trauma. This says to me that there is nothing to us that is not physical. If a car crash can alter personality, what will lying in the dirt being eaten by worms do for it?
OK first of all
Soul= an immortal part of a human not the flesh or memories .. just a certain energy that can be changed
Spirit = the vehicle of that energy .. the way to connect to it and change it or move it how ever you wish ..
also that energy is totally detectable.. if you know what to look for. People have energy signatures .. magnetic just like gravity it is always there but usually ignored.
The personality and memories are of course changed.. that is a purely psychological/physical thing. The so-called metaphysical such as ghosts and spirit travel and out of body experiences are people connecting to their own changeable energy. So when we die our energy remains causing these "metaphysical" experiences like apparitions and things like that.
Did you ever consider that your definitions of the words 'soul' and 'spirit' may differ from the definitions of the majority of people? The purpose of a word is to convey meaning. You can't define words and then use them according to your own definition and expect people to agree with you. Rather, you should try to learn the common usage of words by other people and adapt your language to theirs. This is especially important with words like 'soul' and 'God' which people have wildly different ideas about.
There is no such thing as an 'energy signature'. There are three typical uses of the word energy. The first is the purely physical sense of the word; a value conserved in any situation in which there is an imbalanced force. The second definition is that of vibrancy. Essentially, you can say a person is 'energetic' or 'has much energy', which is another way of saying that they are vibrant or vivified.
The third definition is the 'new age' definition. Energy is a word for 'stuff' that works in a mysterious way and does whatever magical thing you feel like at the time. For example, the 'energy' that people use to conjure 'psi-balls' is manipulated through concentration. How is this done? No idea!
