Passenger in the Tomes Users: Flamefire123, Male Preview Characters: Reiha, Adian, Kasch, Xiu Xue Setting: Durem Libray Link: Passengers in the Tomesmale_preview Rows and rows of books lined the shelves as Kasch peered into the building. Everything seemed so tall on one side, the shelves reaching towards the ceiling while the other side seemed much smaller. He looked at Xiu Xue, his big sister is what she called herself.
She smiled moving forward to take his hand. "Go on little one," she said softly. She nudged him towards the children's section. "I'm just going to find a few things and then we can go," she added. Still he seemed hesitant.
"Birds?" he asked gently. He gave her a hopeful look before finally moving to sit down on the carpet. A frown etched on his lips, he looked around in hopes of seeing something but really he couldn't do much but think of the bird he'd had to leave at home. Flamefire123 "Reiha Korbin is not allowed in a libray" Adian sighed as he watched the stuborn girl walked briskly forward. Adian cast a almost worried look around the libray. He hadn't been in one since high school. It made him feel antasy as he normally only entered a libray when he was in despert need. He wondered idly if he could still write a grade B report in less then a day. He grined at the thought and glanced at Reiha. Oh god, what would he do when she was in school?
"I'd like to see them take him away" Reiha replied proudly as Korbin rested on her arm, being held close to the girl he protected and loved. His bright gold eyes stared angerily at all the books. Not that he was really made at those books, Reiha loved books so Korbin tolerated them. Korbin would tolerate anything that Reiha loved.
"Reiha, come on, I don't want to be kicked out" Adian sighed as he followed the girl. She was the one that deamnded they go to the libray and now she was walking quickly to a section of the libray close to kid's section. He glanced around, worried ot find some gray haired librain yelling "Shhhh!" to come yell at him. And she of course would not be hot in the least. Adian sighed, a not hot girl was a real pitty in his mind. What was the point in a female unless they were pretty in some way?
"Fine if it bother's you so much" Reiha sighed whispered something to Korbin. He spread his wing and fluttered to the top of the book shelf. "There" Reiha told Adian in a big sister to little brother tone. "See he will follow us and if someone yells we never seen him before" Reiha said with a royal sort of shrug before walking off. male_preview It was no surprise that Kasch immediately saw Korbin enter with Reiha. He smiled more so at the bird than the girl. Standing up, he wobbled a bit in his new shoes. He felt like he was on a platform and he couldn't quite get used to the feeling.
Still he managed to walk with some grace. He looked up at the bird, stumbling towards Reiha. "Is that your bird?" he asked remembering how it had been perched on her arm. He gave a smile hesitant about saying much else.
He gave a wave to the bird, his small fingers curling up and down. It took him a moment before his attention returned to the girl and he wondered why the bird was with her. Flamefire123 Reiha walked down the alise looking over the many titles of all the books. her fingers rose to stroke the many spines, halfway wishing that was all it took to know the information inside but as soon as the half wish was in her mind she wished it gone. No, that take all the fun of learning from books if you just knew upon touch.
She reached to pick a book, to fill her brain with the knowlege it held when she hearda voice. She truned, a suspious frown on her lips. Then her eyes whiden. He had wings, big wide white wings, bat like. It was wonderous. Could he fly? Oh Reiha would sell her soul and more to fly.
"No" she awnsered honestly. "Korbin is my friend" she looked up at him and he fluttered back down.
"What are you doing?" he demanded of her, "Why are you talking to this boy? We should just get your books and go" He urged. He didn't like her talking to people. People could and would hurt her. His golden eyes turned to glare at the boy.
"He has wings Korbin" Reiha murrmered, "I want wings, then we could fly the skies together Korbin, you and I" male_preview "Is that his name? Korbin?" Kasch looked at the bird tilting his head. Didn't the bird like him? His wings fluttered lightly and he wrapped them around himself, his fingers stroking the leathery texture to sooth the horrible thought in his mind. That couldn't be, why wouldn't the bird like him?
He was a bit dumbfounded by the fact the bird didn't belong to her. Of course a bird could be a friend but someone had to belong to someone. Babies belonged to their parents, mates belong to each other, pets belonged to their owners. He bit his lip as he pondered.
"Then does she belong to you?" he asked the bird. Flamefire123 Reiha frowned, she didn't like this boy's obsession with owning. "I belong to no one!" she said firmly. No not Reiha, she held on poessivly to Korbin, not wanting the boy to claim him as his or something. Korbin didn't belong to her and she didn't belond to Korbin. When you owned something you were above it, you were in control. She was not in control of Korbin, he just listened to her more often then not. That's all.
"Korbin is my friend, but he isn't owned, he's free. He can come and go as he wishes" Reiha informed the boy grandly. She asumed this tone when ever she felt she was dealing with someone who might be a bit slow. "Korbin stays with me because he loves me and I love him."
Adian aproched from behind, finally caught up with Reiha. Damn she was fast he stoped and blinked when he saw the little boy with wings. Such sites were not uncommon in Gaia but they weren't common ethir. Adian glanced at Reiha and saw that high and mighty look she got when ever she thought he was doing soemthing stupid. He wondered what the boy was doing.
Adian didn't draw close, didn't wnat to interupt but felt since he was sorta Reiha's gaurdian he should stay a safe distence away and make sure she didn't hurt herself. Though if she did he still doubted she would want his help. She didn't like to be touched much. Something that worried Adian. male_preview Kasch eyes flashed slightly, finding her tone rude. "You don't have to be rude." He looked at the bird finding any interest in Reiha to be floundering. "I was talking to Korbin, not you anyways." His wings flared out, something birds often did to make themselves look bigger when they were in fear of being attacked.
He frowned shaking his head. She really didn't seem very nice and he didn't really understand why this bird was with her. "Is she this rude to you? Or she is having a bad day?" again he directed his question to the bird. He was sure the bird knew that everything belonged to something. If something didn't it had no purpose and one couldn't live without a purpose. Not that he knew what his purpose was but he belonged to Adam, so he had no need to worry about a purpose. Flamefire123 Korbin glared at the boy and then fluttered up to land on Reiha's head. "Reiha belongs to no one" Korbin cawed angerily. He liked his perch, because it both was protective and poessive. Maybe a part of him felt like he owned Reiha, but that was because she was his friend and he was the only one that Reiha loved. If he felt proud for that he felt it was deserved.
Reiha frowned, "I am simply saying the obvious" she said with a small pout. "Besides it's my right to be rude" she grummbled to herself. After all other people were rude, why couldn't she be rude? Being rude was easier then being polite, being polite only mattered to her if she liked a person and she wasn't sure if she liked the winged guy. Even though she wanted to feel his wings.
Korbin's wings fluttered angerily as the boy called Reiha ruded. "She's sweet and kind!" he snapped, "You just don't deserve it!"
Reiha looked up at Korbin and wondered if Korbin thought this boy could understand him or if she was suppose to translate. She shrugged and turned away. The boy didn't want to talk to her, she just wanted to get a few books and leave. male_preview Kasch shook his head, obviously the girl was poisoning the bird's good nature. As far as he believed, all birds were good and kind. So he didn't blame Korbin. "I forgive you, Korbin," he smiled at the bird before turning his back to the two. He wanted to go see his own bird now, to make sure it wasn't ever poisoned nor was his egg.
He did feel bad for not getting along with the girl but she wasn't trying to be nice. Looking around the first adult, well he was tall like one, he saw was Adian. Toddling forward, he waved at the man. "Where are the bird books?" he asked. It wasn't so much that he was obsessed but that he was worried about the poor bird Pere had given him. Flamefire123 Both Korbin and Reiha gave Kasch a werid look and then they glanced at each other doing that silent communication thing that always freaked out Adian slightly. Reiha frowned and Korbin shifted as they watched the boy walk over to Adian, both kind of smirked when he was asked a question, as that blank 'I don't know' expresion washed over his face.
Adian raised an eyebrow as the kid aproched him but the question just stumped. Why in the world would he know where bird books are. Would Reiha know? He wouldn't know how as this was the first time he took her to the libray but knowing Reiha that doesn't mean it's the first time she's been here.
"Hey, Reiha where' the bird books?" he finally asked, forcing attention back to the bundle of 'joy' that he got of the train.
Reiha strted to shrug, but that's how she awnsered most of Adian's question, by shruging then awnsering. "They're with the other animal books"she said, turning back to the sehlf she was on. She reached up high, trying to reach one book but her fingers just graed the plastic covered bottom. She strained and even jumped but couldn't reach it. male_preview Kasch looked at Adian. Adults were supposed to know things, why didn't he? He looked back at Reiha, the nice thing would be to help her he supposed but...he wasn't sure he should. His concience seemed to nag at him and he grudgingly turned back to walk towards the girl.
"Do you need help?" he asked. He supposed it was the nice thing to do, she had told him where the bird books could be found though he doubt she meant to help him. It didn't seem like Adian was going to help her. Apparently he'd stumbled into the un-helpful trio noting that not even Korbin seemed to be willing to help anyone. Flamefire123 Adian threw his hands ito his pocket as Reiha reached for the book. He had tried to help her once and got a glare in return. Reiha didn't seem to want any help, at least not from him. Korbin seemed to understand that took as he also did nothing. Reiha was so indepent a large part of him wondered why, he knew it had to do with what happened to her before that train ride, he just wished he could figure out what.
"I got it" Reiha said firmly, reahing up and having her fingers scrap across the book. Come on, she could touch it, she must be able to grab it. She tried to reach around the book to pull her out so finally she let out a huff and put her foot on the shelf, steping on it to pull herself up. male_preview With a thoughtful look on his face, Kasch flapped his wings. The beautiful white leather and bones picked him off his feet as he reached out his fingers brushing over Reiha's as she continued trying to get the book herself. He looked down at her, questioning but still decided to take the book.
Standing in mid-air he waited a moment before landing. He smiled sincerely as he handed the book to her. "What's it about?" he attempted to ask. He didn't figure he would get a thank you from her. He doubted he'd get anything but yelled at really. Flamefire123 Reiha just stared at him though. Wow, he really could fly. The wingers weren't just for show. that was so neat. All of that anoyence Reiha felt melted away again as she took the book and just sort of stared for a moment, wondering if he could do that again. God she wished she could fly.
Adian blinked as he realized Reiha wouldn't be rude. Well he had to jump in and pretend to be her parent. He moved over and placed a hand on her shoulder,f eeling her stiffen slgihtly.
"Say thank you Reiha" he said quietly.
Reiha frowned and glanced at the book, "Thanks" she finally muttered, then showed him the title. Native American Myths and their Orgins.
"I got this neat book here last time about crow myths and that made me want to read more Native American myths" she said with a sort of shrug, the shrug was mostly to get rid of Adian's hand. She didn't like it when the redhaired man touched her.
"You want to know more about birds?" she finally asked. male_preview "You're welcome. I'd like to learn more about birds," he said politely. He gave a smile to Adian but otherwise his attention was now on Reiha. He supposed he could give her another chance. Yes, he definately could do that. Flamefire123 Reiha looked over at Korbin and he fluttered back up to the top of the stacks. She ignored Adian as she hugged her new book to her. "the bird books are over here" she infomred him, leading him though the stacks of books to a whole new section, far away from the kids books. They were in the research part of the libray.
"Is there a certain type of bird you wnat?" she asked, "they're in alphabetical order" she said, walking over to the C section. "See? Crow" she said pointing to a crow book. "That book told me Korbin was a fish crow and stuff about his kind"
Adian sighed as he stayed a bit away from Reiha and her new....something. He glanced round, looking for the parent of the winged boy. Maybe a mom. He grined at the idea and remembered Hikari. She was cute and he certainly ejoyed flirting with her. He enjoyed his date a few weeks ago more. male_preview "Blackbird, I'm taking care of one," he added with a smile. He looked along the books moving over to the B section before choosing one of the books about blackbirds. He opened it, flipping through the pages for a picture. "This is what he looks like...kinda," he said his mouth quirking up on one side. Well it was what he would look like once the blood was washed off his feathers and things.
Xiu Xue sighed, placing her cheek on her hand. There were a lot of books about raising children. Of course most of them were about babies, some even about planning when to have a child. She doubted finding a mysterious ticket was one of the methods but nonetheless she needed something. It took her a few moments before she finally picked out two books. One about what kids need and one about discipline and making rules.
Holding one book, she opened the other so she could skim it. She should find Kasch and get home soon. Flamefire123 Reiha moved closer to him as she looked over the book. "Blackbirds" she murrmered, "Like Korbin" the small girl looked up at Korbin. "I love my bird" she said simply. "do you love yours?" she asked him. She been wondering something. Other people couldn't understand Korbin but maybe this boy could understand his bird. "When your bird speaks, can you understand what it says?" Or was she just werid? male_preview "Of course I love my bird," Kasch replied. What kind of question was that? He opened his mouth to say something but stopped when she spoke again. He tilted his head pondering what she meant exactly.
Honestly, understanding the tweets and caws of the birds was hard. A lot of their words sounded the same and often they seemed to speak in somewhat broken english if one could consider it that. "Sometimes. It's easier when they talk by mind," he nodded.
Thought wise it seemed a bit easier to understand because often with words he could see pictures. And as a child he understood those more than words. Flamefire123 Reiha smiled when he said that, it meant she wasn't too werid. She knew she was different, Adian made that clear but she knew there was a difference between being different and being werid. Werid could be bad. Different means she just thought of things in a different way.
"I can understand Korbin" Reiha said, looking up at him again. "When ever he talks I just know what he says" she explained with a shrug. "But he also understands me so I don't see why it's that werid but people always look at me werid when I talk to Korbin"
Reiha shrugged andreached up to grab a book on crows. "Some people call Korbin a raven" she said, "but he's not. He's a crow. There's a difference" she said stoubernly. male_preview Kasch figured Reiha was talking more to herself at this point and he looked through the books. He pulled out a book about pigeons deciding he should learn about more than just blackbirds.
"It's not weird to talk to birds, they're smart," he murmured lost in thought. He paused drawn out by her last words, was she mad again? He bit his lip turning to look at her. "I won't call him a raven..." he gave her a smile, an offer of friendship. Flamefire123 Reiha glancedat him, wondering if he was listening at all. If there was one thing she couldn't stand it was being ignored but then he spoke, and looked at her with a smile. After a long moment she smiled back, he was nice, when he wasn't lecturing or ignoring her.
"Thanks and you're right" Reiha glanced up at Korbin. "I wish I was bird. Then I can fly. You're lucky, you have wings" she said enviously. "I want wings, that way I can soar in the sky with Korbin and no one can ever hold me down" male_preview Kasch wasn't sure what to think of her last statement. He felt the opposite, he wanted to nestle into people's arms and stay safe. "Wouldn't you miss your Dad or Mom?" he asked confused.
He really wasn't sure what to think of her. His wings fluttered and it seemed odd that she would want wings to fly away. Obviously, his wings were a lot different than a bird's. "You'd look funny with bird wings, your arms would be covered in feathers," he gave a giggle. Flamefire123 Reiha frowned at the mention of parents, there was something wrong with that. Adian wasn't her parent, she knew that much. Both of them were trying to just work out their own realtionship. Reiha wasn't even sure if she liked Adian yet. He seemed alright most of the time and his rules weren't un reasonable she just didn't like getting bossed around.
"I don't have any" she said at last, "A mom and dad. All I have is Korbin, Adian watches me but he isn't my parent or anything" she said with a shrug. "Korbin is the only family I have" The onlyshe wanted. She trusted Korbin.
"I think that be cool" she replied, looking at her patheticly feather free arms, "Then peoplewould leave me alone 'cause I'd be scary. I'm not all that scary" she said sadly. male_preview He resisted the urge to say she did seem a bit mean. Perhaps mean wasn't scary but she definately didn't seem like someone he could talk to. He felt like she'd be unsympathetic to anything he said. He sighed, he was torn in two. He was scared of Reiha, she didn't seem to want him there at all. Yet he didn't want to leave her alone with Korbin, even if that's what she wanted.
"You want to be scary? I don't think feathered arms would be scary, just odd." He furrowed his brows, he didn't understand Reiha at all. He wondered if all girls were as confusing or if it was just her. "Do all girls want to be scary?" he asked naively.
Xiu Xue looked up in time to see Kasch talking to Reiha. She turned, her ears perking up. Hadn't she left him over there? She shook her head and ventured over to him. "Kasch, what are you doing over here?" she asked. Flamefire123 Reiha shrugged, "I dunno" she admited, looking away, "I don't know any girls. Adian proably would know. He talks to girls all the time. He talks in this werid voice and he smiles really stupid too" she said, frowning and then shrugged, glancing at him with suspious eyes. She got the feeling he didn't like her much. Maybe she should just shut up.
Then she looked over as someone walked over to them. Reiha stood firm and straightened a little, ready to protect if it was needed. But the girl said Kasch's name so instead she glanced back at him and then to the female.
"I showed him where the bird books are" Reiha spoke up. "He wanted to know about blackbirds" male_preview "Well thank you," Xiu Xue said giving Reiha a smile. She knelt down putting her hands out so that Kasch could hand her the books he wanted to check out. "We'll have to get you a library card so you can check out books by yourself."
Turning her head to Reiha, she wondered if the little girl was here by herself. But Kasch decided to speak up, "Now you know a girl, Reiha. This is my sister and she's a girl!" He grinned, sounding rather silly with his last statement. Flamefire123 Reiha looked at the woman with wide eyes. She looked different to but kind of neat she thought. She glanced over as Kacsh as he said she knew a girl. She shrugged and looked back to the sister. Was it really that easy? No, just because you knew someone didn't mean they were friends.
"I think she's a woman" Reiha said but shrugged, "There's a difference I think" she said but smiled at Kacsh a bit. He was being nice. "I got a libray card" Reiha mentioned, "It's real easy to get one." male_preview "No, I'm too young to be considered a woman. I'm only sixteen. An adult would be a woman at least twenty-one years old," Xiu Xue corrected. She might be mature enough by some standards but she was really still a child herself. Sighing, she looked at Reiha not sure what to think of the girl. She obviously had her own opinion about things. Flamefire123 "Age only matters when you're old and when you're young" Reiha said, "Or really if you're concered with death or growing up. I think you look like a woman to me" she siad with a nod, but then shrugged, "But I geuss that doesn't mean much" Reiha said after a moment. She glanced up and Korbin fluttered down, She smiled and hugged him. Korbin cared. He always would. "I'll leave alone Kasch if you want" Reiha mentioned, "You have your sister now." male_preview Xiu Xue's brows furrowed in confusion. "I suppose so-" she stopped herself from finishing. The law certainly didn't consider her a woman, merely a child still. She didn't think it mattered to Reiha though. Giving a smile, she merely shook her head. "Are you here by yourself, Reiha?"
"Why would I want you to leave?" he asked looking at his sister. If this was teaching him anything, it was that girls were confusing. He tilted his head, "We could read about birds together, Reiha. Korbin could read with us, too." He smiled nodding his head. Flamefire123 No, the law was an anoyence to her, nothing more, nothing less. Reiha wasn't concered with it. She might be some day, as something to learn. Till then she just saw it as the thing stoping her from being alone.
"No, Adian's around here somewhere" she said with a shrug, not really caring. Then she looked to Kasch with surpise. She thought she was anoying him, but he didn't seem to want her to leave. She glanced at Korbin, "Can you read?"
Korbin glared up at her, lovingly of course but he glared at everyone. "No of course not" he said with a sort. "I have no use for reading" he said, almost proudly. He was hapy being an animal. He only wished he could be human because then he could protect Reiha better. Love her better.
"Korbin doesn't read" Reiha translated for Kash, "but I would like to read about birds" she said honestly. "We can read about blackbirds. I'd like to meet your bird sometime. What is he like? Does he have a name?" male_preview "He can look at the pictures with us." Kasch suggested with a smile looking at Korbin. "Well, I haven't named him. Once he's healed he'll be leaving. I'm just taking care of him. Someone hurt him and the nice man, Pere, gave him to me when I got off the train." His face went from embarrassed to sad and then to happy, smiling as if everyone came off a train or something. Then again it was Gaia and stranger things had happened to others, not that he knew this but it didn't occur to him that it might be strange. It didn't occur that they might have both come off the train either and it wasn't like he had a reason to hide where he came from.
"I'll let you two read for awhile then. Perhaps I can find yo-I mean, Adian." She gave a smile her white furred skin blanching at her mistake. Saying that Adian was her father just seemed like a bad idea from the aura the girl gave off, she obviously didn't think she needed anyone. Xiu Xue doubted that Reiha thought she needed a father or thought of Adian that way. No one she knew called their guardians or parents by their first name. Flamefire123 "I think Korbin will like that" Reiha said with a smile. He was nice, really nice. She would try to be nice back. Or at least as nice as she got. "Oh, so you aren't going to keep him?" she asked, "That's too bad, I mean I don't aprove of forcing them to stay. Korbin stays because he wants to and no other reason" Reiha said asured. She would hate if she thought Korbin was staying because he felt he had to.
Reiha glanced up at the woman girl and nodded, "He's lurking over there" she informed her, pointing to Adian who did look like he was lurking. Standing there in the shadows, trying to keep a good eye on Reiha without dealing with bugging her. male_preview "He's taking care of my bird egg until it hatches. And I'm taking care of him." Kasch smiled nodding his head as he opened the book. Rather than move, he plopped down seeing no reason to move. No one else was around so they weren't in anyones way or anything. Plus it provided shelter from the librarians so they couldn't see Korbin as well.
Xiu Xue thanked Reiha. She made her way over to Aidan and gave a smile. "Adian? I'm Xiu Xue, Kasch's sister," she introduced herself. She offered her hand, her puppy dog ears swiveling back waiting to see if he was nice or not. Flamefire123 "You're welcome" Reiha commented as she sat next to the winged boy and then reached up to feel one of his wings. She was never a shy girl, or one to worry to much about permision, she wasn't hurting him and he was nice. He shouldn't get mad, she just wanted to now what it felt like.
"So you have an egg? Cool, Korbin came to me all grown up. I'd love to take care of an egg though. Can I see your egg sometime?" Reiha quired, that be cool.
Adian smiled a bit as the girl walked over. He wasn't picky when it came to females. He found many, hell most, beautiful. That was his favorite part about women was that there was something beautiful about each of them. Or at least most. Some just seem pretty.
"Hi, I'm going to asume Kasch is Wingy over here" Adian said, jabbing his thumb to the white winged boy. "He's cute, the brat over there is my charge, Reiha" male_preview Kasch's wings fluttered, startled by the sudden touch. He looked at Reiha giving a blush. "You startled me," he confessed giving a laugh. Listening to her questions, he pondered. "Ok," he nodded.
"Yes, he's the one with the wings," she nodded. She tilted her head, "She does seem opinated." She didn't want to agree that Reiha was a brat and she really didn't know the girl. Flamefire123 She gave him a sheepish sort of grin, "I just really like your wings" she explained and then shrugged, She gave him a smile thought. "It feels soft" she added him to him and then glanced down at the book, almost feeling shy. Almost.
She ignored the feeling by contrating on the book till it passed. She didn't like that feeling, so she ignored it. She would not settle for being shy. Shy would hold her back and Reiha wouldn't let that happen.
Adian laughed, "Which is a nice way to say she's a brat" he said with a grin, "I know, I sound awful but it's true" he told her seriously. "She can be nice, if she likes you, other wise she's a huge brat. At least she's open about her dislike. Not one to lie much, Reiha" male_preview "S'okay. Just startled me," he said settling his wings down. He smiled looking at the book. The title image looked exactly like his bird and he pointed to it. "I hope that's what my egg grows up to be. I don't know of any birds that lay black eggs though," he admitted.
"It's good that she doesn't lie, you don't have to worry if she's telling the truth," Xiu Xue piped up but really she didn't know what else to say. She wasn't sure what to think of Reiha to be honest. Giving a shrug of her shoulders, she pondered silently for a moment. "I take it then, Reiha isn't your daughter by birth. If she is, I do apologize." Flamefire123 "I bet we can find out" she told him, raising, up and looking at all the books. "How big is the egg?" she asked him, "I think ostrishes lay blackish eggs but they are very big" she sid with a sort of 'that would be obvious' shurg. She sat back down to look at the bird and smiled. It was a pretty bird. Reiha moved so Korbin, who rested in her arms, could see it.
Adian laughed again and slipped his hands into his pockets. "Naw, I didn't get to do anything fun to get this chick" He said with the shake of his hed, "I found the little brat and that bitter crow on train" he said, with a shrug not all that unlike Reiha's. male_preview "It's small, it fits in my hand." He lifted his hands up, using his fingers to measure his palm. He squinted as he tried to figure out how big it was. "An inch?" he guessed, his cheeks a soft pink as he blushed.
The dog tahnee looked at him, her ears perking up. Train? "A train? That's interesting. Adam said he found Kasch on a train," the last part she whispered more to herself. Maybe the gargoyle had been telling the truth for once about where he got something. "I think he said it was called the Naviat, is that where you got Reiha?" she asked intrigued.
"Well then it's proably not an ostridge" Reiha said with a grin, "but there asked to be something else. Maybe it's a special bird" she suggested as she looked at the fingers on his palm. It was small, very small. She smiled, she bet a pretty bird came out of it, then Kasch could have a nice bird. Reiha held Korbin close. Having a bird for a friend was great.
Adian shrugged, "Didn't notice a name" he said honestly, "Wasn't aware trains were named. But I met this other chick who got a kid this way" Adian mentioned, "She runs this place that goes with it with a friend" he tried to explain. "Apparently there are a few of these kids"
Kasch flipped the pages looking for any sign of blackbird eggs. They didn't were black. That didn't mean it couldn't be or wasn't a blackbird. He pondered quietly before looking to Reiha. "Does Korbin like to other birds much?" he asked glancing at the crow. He wondered if Korbin would like his bird once it hatched, it would be a disappointment if the crow didn't. Birds should have other bird friends, shouldn't they?
"Oh." She gave a slight sigh. That wasn't really helpful but she guess she should've expected it. She doubted someone would've taken detailed notes of the train's name and the color, what it was like and where exactly they found the child, and the child's first words. No, that was expecting too much. "I'd like to meet some of the others," she mumbled ignoring the word chick. She was thankful no one called her that, it sounded so possessive in a sense. Flamefire123 "I don't know" Reiha admited honestly, "I never seen him with any other birds" She looked down at Korbin worried. She knew he didn't like people because they hurt her but birds? Why did he not like birds?
"Korbin do you like other birds?"
Korbin shifted, a bit tired of being held but Reiha seemed to like it so he didn't want to complain about it. Korbin glared at the winged boy, he nliked th eother one better. Sei was afraid of Korbin there for Korbin knew he wouldn't dare hurt Reiha was Korbin was around in fear of getting attacked. Which was just how he liked it. Kasch on the other hand seemed merely intrested, which wasn't useful at all.
"Not really" he grumbled, "They're slow compared to you." Korbin said, almost proudly.
"Korbin says he doesn't because they're slow" Reiha informed Kasch, since she was the messenger he didn't put an apology in her tone. She was saying what Korbin thought and nothing more. Then she added on what she thought, "I'm sure he like your bird though Kasch" she said with a smile.
Adian grined at the odd girl. he didn't think much about his words, unless he was trying to flirt. He didn't see a problem in calling a girl a chick. He didn't see the insult in it. And peopel who did was stuck up in his mind. Still he just grined at the dog tahnee.
"Yeah I would too" he said honetly, "though Reiha is at least making friends. Maybe I should have your number so she can call for a play date sometime" Adian said, he thought quite smothly. male_preview "That's a shame, I hope he will like my bird. He should have a bird friend," Kasch thought. He nodded his head in agreement with himself. Some birds probably were slow compared to most people. It really wasn't in their nature to converse like humans but some birds were special.
"It's nice to see Kasch has met a friend. I'm sure he'll want to see Reiha again. You can reach us at 555-2995 but you shouldn't call at night," Xiu Xue added. Adam would most likely chew him out. She sighed at the thought, he was impossible. Flamefire123 Adian grined, sweet, a number. He dug though his pockets, grabbing the pen and paper he slipped into all of his clothes. Now it was mostly due to habit but that habit was made just for situations like these. "555-2995" he said as he wrote, above it he wrote Wingy and beow xiu xie, no night. "Okay got it" he said and slipped it away before grining at her warmly.
Reiha glanced up and saw Adian then rolled her eyes, "Adian's acting stupid again" she mummbled anoyed, "He got that stupid grin that says he wants to talk oddly to women. He only talks that way to girls, or woman girls" male_preview "Should I tell my sister to stay away from him then?" Kasch asked. He turned to look at the two and wasn't fond of the way Adian seemed to be looking at his sister. He wasn't sure if it was bad or not but it wasn't good.
Xiu Xue was rather oblivious. "We should probably go soon," she said referring to her and Kasch. She wanted to get her little brother home. Flamefire123 "From Adian? Naw" Reiha said as she leaned in closer to look at the books. "he's harmless. Stupid but harmless" she said with a carelessness that should never belong to one so young. How she came across it was her forgotten memory's secrets.
"Don't leave yet, we just started talking" Adian implored, grining the cutest grin he could. He wasn't officaly flirting because he wasn't looking for a date but he liked to just flirt with those that he could. male_preview Honestly, Kasch didn't quite understand the idea of what was stupid about Adian. He was a child and the whole idea of dating hadn't been introduced to him yet. So he just shrugged and nodded his head. "Reiha, what's the difference between a crow and a blackbird?" There weren't too many difference save the beak color that he could see. He could tell them apart though he really wasn't sure why. Naturally, his instincts just led him to pick out the blackbird. "I can tell them apart but I don't know why," he added.
"I-erm, well I suppose we can stay a little longer." The tahnee was uncomfortable at the idea. She felt nauseous and flushed though it wasn't obvious. Unlike Adian, she wasn't crazy to trip over anyone that was pretty.
In fact, she really didn't like romance from what she knew of it. Novels with romance often ended up toss onto the floor. Men were fine and all but they seemed to have a habit of lying to get what they want, which didn't sit well with her. She despised being lied to in any form or fashion. Unless she chose not to ask, she expected an honest answer.
She preferred the solace of winter, it was beautiful and cold. It was a comfort, like a baby blanket for a child. Giving a nod of her head, she stopped in her thoughts. Had he said something? Flamefire123 "I'm sure big differences are in size, proably in feather shapes and coloring of feathers" Reiha slowly. "I think blackbirds are smaller and they make different noise" She wasn't completely sure though, "I'd look it" she admited, "I don't know if I'm completely right" Reiha wasn't scared of admiting she didn't know. Not knowing was fine, it was not learning that made you stupid. Reiha had no paitence for the stupid.
Adian grined at her. He didn't trip over anyone was pretty, he smoothly glided. Adian knew the games men and women played and he enjoyed playing them. It was all for fun and why not have fun in life? God knows his dating life died when he got Reiha. No problem, well big problems with all the emtional crap Reiha brings to the table.
"Well at least they're getting along" the red haired man pointed out. "That boy managed to find Reiha's two biggest intrests mighty fast, studing and birds. Now if you had her in a tree and Korbin got to attack me I think she be in heaven" male_preview "Reiha likes when her bird attacks you?" Xiu Xue asked. She glanced over at the two toddlers. She hoped Reiha wouldn't have him attack Kasch. She really didn't like the idea of him being attacked. She gave a sigh, wondering if she should let Kasch be friends with the girl. "She won't have it attack Kasch, will she?"
Browsing through the pages, the boy found a chapter that explained blackbirds and crows, there was even a part about ravens. "Here we go, Reiha!" he grinned. "Ravens are one-third larger than crows, have somewhat heavier bills, more fan-shaped tails, and sometimes sport a ruff of feathers at the throat." He moved down to the blackbird section and scrunched his brow, ""Blackbirds are those class...class-fied in the subfamily Ic...ic-ter-nae?" he stumbled over the words heaving a sigh of relief.
(Information taken from here.) Flamefire123 Reiha leaned over his shoulder to read as he read out loud. She smiled and nodded, she was pretty sure it was small changes like that. Stuff that no normal person noticed but was oh so obvious to birds. She smiled and reached up to stroke Korbin. "That's really cool" she mentioned, looking at the book. "I love learning new things, don't you?"
Adian shook his head, "Oh no, see, she likes him" she pointed to the two kids, Reiha leaning so close. "She doesn't get close to anyone unless she has too if she doesn't like them. Korbin only attacks those who upset or harm Reiha. I more upset then harm" he said with a 'what can I say?' sort of grin. male_preview "I do like learning," he admitted nodding his head. He wasn't sure that it was fun but he liked learning so far. His stomach burbled and his wings fluttered in effect. "I think it's almost time to eat," he laughed.
"Oh, that's good then," she replied in relief. Still, she didn't really like the Korbin would attack people. What if Kasch said something wrong? She knew she shouldn't fret but her motherly instincts, though new, began to flare up. "We'll have to go soon, it's almost time for lunch." Flamefire123 Adian glanced at her and then gave a more calming smile. "They, look, Reiha is a good person and she wouldn't let Korbin hurt Kasch unless he did something really bad, which I doubt. Your son will be okay" Adian promised, reaching voer to rest a friendly hand on her shoulder. "Trust me"
She liked to know lots of things. More she liked learning them. It was more then just knowing she had fun in figuring stuff out. She liked that feeling of acoplishment she got figuring soething hard out. Made her feel smart. "Are you going to go?" she asked him. male_preview Xiu Xue gave a relunctant nod. He hopefully knew what he was talking about. She looked over at the pair before turning her attention back to Adian. "My brother, but thank you," she replied letting his hand remain on her shoulder. She could use the slight comfort at the moment.
"Not until my sister says so. She doesn't like when I wander off too far. Something about not liking Durem soot?" he tilted his head and shrugged. He didn't know what that meant but he didn't mind staying close to his sister. He found sometimes she would lift him to sit on her shoulders and it was much easier to see. Once in awhile he would flutter above her but she didn't like that much. Flamefire123 But you give someone an inch they take a mile. Adian grined his flirtious grin again, "I should of geussed, you seem to young to be a mother" he said, leaning closer, "But then again, I got a kid from a peice of paper so I geuss anyone could get a kid here in Gaia" Adian shrugged and glanced to his kid.
"Adian got all ticked last time I went off by myself" Reiha muttered, folding his arms. "He grounded me. I dont even get why. Not like I was hurt or nuthin'" she was still ad about getting grounded but at least she was able to get out again. "Now I have to go everywhere with him." male_preview "Adam said he got Kasch from a ticket, I don't know if he was telling the truth though." She shook her head, still skeptical. She had meant to go check out the place but hadn't since gotten around to it.
Kasch nodded his head, "It's not good to go off by yourself, you could get hurt. I'd be sad if you got hurt." He frowned looking at her, almost as if he was asking her to be careful. Flamefire123 Adian smiled and then glanced at Kasch. "He probaly did. I know one other Passenger. At least that's what the girl called him" Adian explained, "You see the woman I met, she works as where these kids are droped off. She has one as well. And well she called them Passengers and they arive by train. I got Reiha off of a tran and so did the woman Hikari."
Reiha was quiet for a moment as he did that. She wasn't use to people caring about her. She watched him and saw that he meant what he said. Didn't Adian say soething like that? She frowned and looked away, "Okay" she said softly, 'I wont go off alone anymore...after all I would hate to make a friend sad" {Not done yet, more will be added as it devolps}

Just trying to Relax
Adian was exgausted, just freaking exgausted. It was actually a hard day at work down at the shipping yard. His arms ached and he basicly growled at the baby sitter he haired. Thank god that was working out, mostly because Reiha styaed in her roo the babysitter didn't care, which right now Adian didn't give a damn if Reiha spent the rest of her freaking life in that damn room. All he wanted was a cold beer and some stupid movie with scadily clad women.
Reiha glanced out the window to watch the babysitter leave. Finally she thought expressed. she hated it when that babysitter was around. She always talked to Reiha like she was not only stupid but aparently deaf. Reiha rolled her eyes and pulled open the window to let Korbin in. That babysitter found Korbin once and freaked besides that Adian's 'No Korbin in the house Rule' made it so she couldn't have Korbin in the house anyway unless she was feading him.
"Come on" she said to her bird, holding him close and heading to the door, pulling it open. "We need to get some food" she muttered, walking down the hall to the kitchen.
Adian heard the delightful hiss of a can opening as he took a nice deep drink. He felt the alcohol take minor effet as the yeasty taste of beer trickled down his throat. It's about damn time he thought to himself. Oddly enough he hadn't had any beer since Reiha came. Adian rarely drank at home, finding it more fun to drink with people but he use to go out drinking every friday and alot of satudays. Reiha really cut down on that. Something Adian hated to think about, especially when he was tired and cranky, but bills were getting a bit harder to pay. He ouldn't aford to go out anymore. His food bill nearly trippeled now that he needs to have plenty of food for three meals a day for two people. When he lived alone he just basicly had enough to surive on. But now...
"You're blocking the fridge" Reiha said shortly to her gaurdian as he stood there staring blankly into space. She lifted up a lip in contempt and then took a small sniff of air. She fell back suddenly, Korbin who rested on her shoulder had to take flight to avoid unbalencing her as Reiha took several frienzed steps back. That smell! Oh god that smell. Something back, something horrible. The smell, it surrounded her, screaming yells, slurred curses, crying, her tears, pain...oh so much pain. Stop it...Stop it...Stop it!
"STOP IT!"
Adian jumped as Reiha suddenly spoke up. He turned to give her a dark glare. He was so not in the mood for her little additude. He took another deep drink of his beer and let out a sigh when suddenly she fell back, forcing Korbin into the air with a squak. The redhaired man looked at his ungreatful charge with a raised eyebrow as Reiha freaked over what he saw was nothing. Adian set the can down and took a step forward, mentally groaning. He didn't want to play father right now but...what else was he suppose to do?
"Stop what Reiha?" he asked, tired, just so freaking tired, he didn't want to deal with this. Deal with her. Reiha seems to have this wonderful habit of making one problem 15 and is completely sure she can handle all of them.
She jerked back away from him away from his voice, covering her ears. "Stop it! Stop it!" she kept on screaming, turning and running, blindly, her eyes closed as did something she never did. She triped. That didn't stop the rabid scramblings of the girl. "Stop it! Stop it!" she sobbed, "Leave me alone! I didn't do anything"
You ******** slut! Lazy b***h! Worthless peice of s**t some dark slurred forgotten voice yelled her head. Reiha sobbed at the sudden invasion of her mind, she ran as hard as she could, trying to escape the voice but it wouldn't leave.
"I'm not worthless, I'm not worthless" she whispered to herself.
Adian stared blankly, he didn't know what happened, he didn't get it, the girl was freaking out and he didn't know why. Reiha was runing blindly and it wasn't long before he heard the slam of her door. He blinked and then turned slowly to Korbin who looked...confused? Were they really in the same boat? Well if not Adian wanted some damn answers from the bird.
"You!" he said firmly, pointed a finger at it, "Come on, talk" he ordered, "What the hell was up with that?"
Korbin shrugged, flapping his wings, wanting to get back to Reiha when Adian grabbed him. The human wasn't as dumb as Korbin would like to belive for he was grabed tightly around his body as a hand closed over his beak. The crow struggled tightly as he tried to get at least a wing free. If he could just shift lightly then his claws would get him good. Real good, stupid human, he had to get to Reiha!
"Nuh uh" Adian said firmly, "I want to know what the hell that was about. I know Reiha talks to you so you have to have some level of intellgence. Now what in god's name was that about!?" the man demanded, he tightened his grip because he could feel Korbin trying to escape but moved the hand over the beak to behind the bird's head, that way he could keep the head steady without stoping the bird's ablity to make noise.
"It doesn't matter what I say you worm brained pile of-" Korbin cursed as he struggled, being rather anoyed at this whole thing. he should be with Reiha, protecting her. She was in trouble and this stupid human thought he could help her? Hardly. "Let me go!" Korbin growled, "I dont know what's wrong!"
Adian, not having Reihas odd ablity to understand Korbin, had no idea what the squaks where. All he knew was that it wasn't useful in the least. Adian finally sighed and let go of the bird, letting him fly off to his beloved Reiha. What the hell was that about? Adian reached over and grabed the beer. He took a long drink and then paused, glancing at his can and then too the girl.
"Aw ********" he muttered.

What Lies in the Forgotten?
Adian stared long and hard at his barely open beer, the yeasty smell of a few moments to forget drew him closer to the can, but the not yet faded screams of the girl he once thought was merely a b***h came back to him. Suddenly the red haired man grabed the can and poared it out, turning quickly to grabed all the beer, carefully draining each and everyone. Her parenents, that was all he could think of. Who were her parents? And what did they do to that little girl?
Adian turned and walked slowly up the stairs, leaving the mess of empty cans down in the kitchen. The confused man walked to the little girl's door, reaching forward when a noise caught his ear. He leaned in close and heard something that just grabed his heart, and twisted it....She was crying.
He turned the knob and opened the door just slightly to look in at that unbreakable girl. And saw her sobing into the birds feathers, her entire body trembeling as she mumbeled something Adian couldn't understand to the bird. But Korbin heard, Korbin understood. Adian pulled back and turned, walking down to the kitchen. Struggeling to remember he made her what he was pretty sure was Reiha's favorite meal. He then wrote a simple note and placed it on the tray the food was on. He then took it up to her room, placing the tray near her door, knocking once then went to his room, laying down on the bed, staring up at the celeing. He was so confused...his hand reached over and he grabed the phone, dialing in a number he knew by heart. It rang three times before someone picked it up.
"Hey Tana. I need some gudience..."
● ● ●
Mienwhile Reiha ignored the knock, she didn't want to talk to Adian, have him ask if 'she was okay' or demanded to know 'what happened out there'. Or worse him be drunk and mad, yelling hard to understand words, destorying her clean safe room, pounding...hard...fast...Reiha shook her head and clung to Korbin all the tighter, as if he was some stuffy to gain comfort from. The small little crow may of been in some pain but he never showed it. He was here to help her, protect her and that was what he was doing. His own emtions never came into play when Reiha was in trouble.
The small confused girl stayed that way a long time. Sad, tired, clutching to Korbin for dear life. When finally that forgotten hunger came back and reminded her of more normal things. She got up and reached up to open the door, letting Korbin go back to her head where he liked to perch best, he was too big for her shoulder. But Reiha stoped when she saw a meal waiting for her outside her door. The act confused her till she saw the note and reached down to grab it. She read it out loud so Korbin could understand.
Dear Reiha,
I don't know what happened back there and I have a feeling you don't ether. I don't want to bug you, or make you cry again, and god knows I tend to do the first one without trying. I just wanted to let you know. Korbin is aloud inside the house again. I saw what he really is to you and I don't want to try and take that away from you. Not everyone has someone they can trust that much.
I want you to know. No more alcohol will be aloud in this house. I wont stop drinking, as I like it and I remain in control of my self but I promise I wont drink around you. Or some to you when I have been drinking. I don't know who hurt you, or why and I know you don't but I promise you one thing Reiha. They wont hurt you again. You're my family now and I don't let people hurt my family.
So eat your dinner. I'm in my room if you want to talk to me or anything. Remember Reiha, I care for you.
Adian
Reiha stared at the note for a long time, not sure how to respond to such a note. So first she took the food in, quietly eating with Korbin as she watched him. The food was gone quickly, as both girl and bird were very hungry and then they sat there for a while, staring at the empty plates.
"The note was very kind" reiha finally spoke. "Do you think he means it?"
"Doubtful" Korbin replied with a roll of his eyes. "He's just a human Reiha, he just felt guilty is all"
"No one felt gulty over me before" Reiha murrmered, "And he's letting you stay in the house again"
"No reason to get all mushy about it. Leave him alone Reiha, and demand he does the same to you. That's all that matters, we're together. We can trust each other."
"He called me family"
"You had a family before Reiha"
"I can't rememeber them, I can't remember why I'm runing"
"Because you don't want to. Don't try to remember Reiha, just let yourself forget. You'll be happier. Let old dogs lay"
"But where are they laying? What lies in the forgotten?"
"Nothing you want to remember"

Castle in the Sand Users: Flamefire123, Jizzy Jazz Characters: Reiha, Adian, Berial, Erik Setting: Playground Link: Over AIMJizzy Jazz It wasn't typical for Erik to be outside, and frankly, he didn't enjoy it much... He sat on a bench in the playground, very stiff as if he was scared of some sort of beast or something would come out of the lush greenery around him. The only outside place he enjoyed was the beach, and this playground was certainly not a beach... Watching Berial play in the sandbox, he felt a tinge of relief that at least he was enjoying himself, but then again, it had been his idea. Berial was blissfully unaware of Erik's loathing of the outdoors, or the amount of sand that was now creeping its way into his shorts. He was having way to much fun trying to build a sand castle. The key word being trying, as his attempts had so far ended in a large blob of sand, but he didn't mind. Sweeping some sand onto the pile he was smiling widely as he imagined what sort of people would live in his castle once it was done. Flamefire123 "Adian I don't want to go to the stupid playground" Reiha let out a large annoyed sigh as she was tugged along. If she had to be outside she rather be at that other park they went too, with the trees and maybe see Sei again. Or go to the library where there were books. Adian let out a sigh and continued to tug his little headache along, "You haven't left the house to play since you met Sei and now you're going to go to the damn park and have precious childhood memories or so help me god I'll ground you again" "You can't ground me for no reason" Reiha shot back as she tugged on her captured hand again. Not that she expected to break free now but it was more for her pride then anything else. "I can do as I wish" Adian replied, "I'm in charge of you" With that he let her go and pushed her too the play ground, walking over to a bench and sat down. He glanced over at the other man who was on the bench but since Adian was purely straight and the guy wasn't female Adian wasn't interested. Jizzy Jazz Erik had begun to sorely regret his lack of thought upon leaving the house as boredom began to set in... He could have brought a book or something, anything... When voices caught his ear, he looked over at the pair coming into the playground... As the other man sat down on the bench, he looked over at him, he looked a bit older than Erik, mid twenties he guessed, and glancing at the child he'd brought, he noticed they didn't really look a lot alike at all... Gaia just was that kind of place where kids just popped up out nowhere, he supposed... In a feeble attempt to shatter his boredom, he made a weak attempt to strike up conversation... "I... cute kid...” He said, meekly... Surely he could have thought of something better than that. Berial had looked up at the commotion as well, though he was grinning. Maybe this girl would come and play with him. Getting up from his spot in the sandbox, he didn't bother brushing the sand off his front as he went towards Reiha, any sort of shyness or embarrassment forgotten for the sake of fun. " 'Alo. I'm making a sand castle, will you help me?" He asked plainly, smiling at Reiha. If someone helped him, then his castle could be huge! Flamefire123 Adian blinked and glanced over at Erik as he spoke. His blue eyes looked over the man for a moment and then smiled. Adian may pay more attention to females but he was never rude to his own gender. Even if he hadn't made contact with his friends for a while. They always wanted to go out drinking and he had nowhere to put the kid. Not to mention he opened a beer once at home and she flipped. Adian shook his head and then snapped himself back to the present. "Yeah, but she has the personality of a cornered wet cat" Adian informed the stranger, resting his arms over the back of the bench. "But she is cute." Adian frowned slightly as he saw an oddly tattooed boy approach his cornered wet cat. Well this will be interesting. Reiha glanced over at Berial with a suspicious glare. She folded her arms and frowned deeply. She glanced at the sand and then at him. 'You can't make a sand castle without water" she mentioned to him, "You need water, to make the sand firm enough to mold" she nodded. How she knew this was any one guess. She never had been to the beach, or even a lake, or any body of water larger then a puddle. She wasn't a big fan of swimming. Jizzy Jazz Erik had figured as much after watching their little row coming to the playground. The girl didn't seem like the type who'd go around in dresses and dollies by what he'd seen. He watched Berial approach the girl and he too frowned. Berial was pretty mellow kid and he hoped that the girl wouldn't claw at him or something... "She didn't want to seem too eager to come here though... I thought all kids liked the playground...” He said his eyes on the kids. Berial looked over at his lump of sand, then back at Reiha and smiled. It made sense enough, and it certainly would explain why he couldn't build it up very tall. "I didn't know that. Thanks." He said, feeling quite good at having learned something new. Looking around, he spotted a small duck pond a short while ahead and he went off towards it, causing Erik to stand up and shout out. "Be careful by the water!" He called out, not sitting back down from worry. Flamefire123 "Reiha hates to leave the house but she likes being someplace new" Adian said with a shrug. "She only left the house willingly twice. Once when she ran away to the library and when I took her back after she's been grounded. She likes parks but she only been to one with trees so I thought here would be a nice change of pace. I'm sure she'll like it once she gets the stick out of her a**" Adian said honestly, watching as the boy ran to the water and smiled. Reiha wouldn't get near that, she hated taking a bath, he was surprised, and he thought kids love baths. Reiha watched as he ran off and sighed, looking around for a bucket or something. He’d never cart water around well like that. She looked around, he must of been using a bucket right? Who would make a sand castle without a bucket near by? Well the kid didn't seem too bright so she wouldn't put it past him to just try it with his hands. Jizzy Jazz Berial bent over the pond, scooping up some of the water in his cupped hands and started back towards the castle. He didn't seem to notice that the water was dripping out from his palms and by the time he'd gotten back to the sandbox, there was no more water in his hands... He blinked, a tad confused, before he saw the trail of droplets that followed his path from the pond... He frowned. "It didn’t work...” He said simply... Erik sat down once Berial had left the pond's side, glad he hadn't fallen in... "Berial likes it outside... I... I don't really, but he does...” He said. "He always wants to go somewhere or do something... He gets downright fidgety when you ask him to sit still...” He said. He chuckled lightly as Berial noticed the water was gone... "And he's not terribly bright, but he tries...” Flamefire123 Reiha watched as he did that and titled her head to the side. "You'll never get any water that way" she told him with a sigh, "You need a bucket, or a bowl or something that can carry water but wont leak. When you cup your hands together there is a hold in between your two palms. You'll never get water from the pond to the castle that way" Reiha lectured, not harshly, just trying to make him smarter. Adian grinned as some joggers ran by. Mmmm, he sure did love exercise clothes. His eyes followed them till they were out of site. "Hmmm? Oh, yeah, Reiha can sit still for hours" he mentioned, a little bummed that the joggers were gone. "She'll sit there and read till my eyes cross. I don't get how she can do it." Adian saw Reiha lecture and grin, "and I swear she's smarter then me. And while that's fine and dandy the fact that she knows it makes it very hard for me to get her to listen to me" Adian said with a sigh but shrugged, "Though she gets weird if I ever get really mad at her" Jizzy Jazz Berial listened to Reiha and he nodded at the end of her lecture, still smiling. "You're very smart...” He said, looking around now for something he could use to hold water to bring it to his castle... Maybe he could even make a moat. "Do you know where there is a bucket or a bowl?" He asked her then, seeing as he couldn't really find one upon scanning the playground. "Berial can just... space out... from time to time... He listens to me well enough I guess, but its hard... He's only been with me for a short while and well... I keep thinking I'm not cut out for it...” He said, watching Berial speak with Reiha, glad that he was still smiling, but it took a lot to make him stop... Flamefire123 "Yeah" Reiha said shortly. It wasn't pride that made her say that, it was just fact. She knew she was very smart, it's one of the reasons she was smart. She wasn't nether proud nor ashamed of her intelligence. It was just fact, one she kind of liked. Being smart meant she didn't have to rely on others. "I dunno, you didn't bring one and I don't see any around here" she said honestly. "Reiha's been with me for a little bit as well. I think we both know I'm not cut out for it but what else can I do? My sister's too young to take care of a kid, my dad's too old. I don't want to put her in an orphanage because I think she just run away. So we're both learning to just try to deal with each other for her best interest and I'm still working on her realizing that I'm not trying to screw her over or something. She keeps on expecting me to do something horrible. I just don't know what yet" Jizzy Jazz At this Berial frowned slightly, looking around again... "Does this mean my sand castle won't work?" He asked, sadly, looking over at his lump of sand... All the people that were going to live there, what would they do. "I'd feel horrible leaving Berial in an orphanage and besides... I'd be scared to as well... I have this odd feeling that this pant less man that was at the place where I found him would track me down or something, as odd as it sounds...” He said. Poor Peregrin, not a pleasant job and the man seriously needed some pants... Flamefire123 Adian burst out into laughter. "Ohhhh, that b*****d, I remember him. He ditched me with Reiha and this damn grumpy crow that has attacked me several times" he complained and looked around. "Luckily he was out hunting for some food when I pulled Reiha over here so we should be left alone for at least a little while. Reiha looked over at Adian as he laughed and frowned. She then looked at Berial. She walked over to Adian and the stranger; she walked briskly with her head high so no one would know she felt a touch of fear at approaching a strange man. Why was she so scared of men? Grown men? She didn't mind boys her own age, but she didn't like men. "We need a bucket" she announced to the men. "Or a bowl. Or something that will hold water. Jizzy Jazz Erik chuckled idly... SO Reiha came from the train as well... How many more kids had come from that place? Feeling a bit more lighthearted he smiled over at Reiha as she walked towards them, listening to her request... He frowned as she thought. He hadn’t even brought a bottle of water with him, so he didn't have anything with him... "I'm sorry... I don't think I have anything like that...” Berial had followed Reiha as she went over to the bench and he pouted at Erik when he said no. "But E'ik...” He said softly, pouting. "We need it to make the castle... Where are the people going to live if they don't have a castle...?” Flamefire123 Adian frowned and reached down to the small bag he brought just in case he might need something. He actually thought a head. That was new for him. He pulled out a water bottle and grinned as he handed it to Reiha. Ha! He managed to get her something she wanted. Go him....right? "Thanks" she said quickly and without much more walked back to Berial, "Here, we can carry water with this" she explained, walking over to his pile of sand and dumped the water that was inside on it. Soon they had a nice pile of wet sand. Reiha said down and started to mold. Jizzy Jazz Erik looked over at Adian, glad that he had thought ahead. Erik had left the house without thinking much at all, and he couldn't bear to watch Berial pout... "Thanks...” Berial beamed up at Adian. "Thankies!" He exclaimed and rushed off after Reiha, flopping down onto the sandbox and rushing his fingers through the wet sand before starting to try and mold something that would probably end up being a turret. He bit his lip, focusing on his task to try to build the best castle he could. Flamefire123 Adian glanced over at Erik and shrugged, "No problem, I was determined to make sure Reiha couldn't complain about anything reasonable" he explained and then put out his hand, "By the way, I'm Adian" he said with a smile. Reiha was helping, she read some on castles and was trying to mold it to look like one of the ones she seen but she wasn't doing all that well. She wasn't very artistic visually but she was alright. It just would help if they had more then just their mere hands. Jizzy Jazz "My name's Erik...” He said, accepting Adian hand and shaking it, a nerdy sort of sense of pride within him. He didn’t normally handle other people well, he was rather socially inept. Berial's turret was looking, like a larger pile of sand as he began to try and shape the top to resemble some sort of turret. Looking over at Reiha and her part, he smiled. "You're good at this, Ms... Ms... What’s your name?" She asked her, just now realizing he didn't know her name at all. Flamefire123 Adian was comfortable with people, he always have been. And since he was such a horn dog he got along with both genders pretty well. So long girls didn’t mind being flirted with shamelessly. He found flirting fun, and it always seemed to lead to more fun if it leads to anything at all. "I'm Reiha" she said simply, "Not Ms. Just Reiha" She looked up at him, and then put out one sandy hand. "What's your name?" she asked. She didn't remember if he told her or not but if he did, then she forget so might as well ask and get it out of the way. Jizzy Jazz Erik looked around at the playground around them, shifting in his seat... He itched to read something or invent, he wanted to go back home, but as he looked at Berial, he knew he wouldn’t be able to say no to the child yet... "Is it hard for you to say no to her?" He asked, wondering if it was just a skill Berial possessed. He took her sandy hand with one of his own and shook it fervently. "Berial, and that's my Mu, Erik." He said pointing a muddy hand over to where Erik was resulting in some wet sand getting onto his shirt, though he didn't seem to notice. "He has a big lab at our house with all sorts of bubbly things that he won’t let me touch...” He said, going into detail, just because he felt like it. Flamefire123 Adian glanced over at Erik, "It might be" he admitted, "If Reiha wasn’t such a p***k about what she wanted. She rarely asks me for permission or even tells me if she's going to do something. She just...does it. I can't say no to her because the opportunity never arises." "Mu..." Reiha stopped when he said that. She looked up at him with wide eyes. "Do you know Sei?" she asked quickly. "Sei had a mu too." She didn't pay attention to the park about the lab, she was more wondering if she knew someone who knew her first friend. Jizzy Jazz Erik looked over at Reiha... "I'd be careful... She looks like she might be the type that it's hard to say no to... I know I can’t refuse Berial when he asks...” He said, watching the kids play. Berial shook his head... "Chesh has a Mu too; her name is Miss Chao... I've never met a Sei...” He said honestly, not realizing it was a big deal as he went back to working on his sloppy turret. Flamefire123 "Ehhhh, if she ever asks I'll find. For now I'm trying to just keep her under control" he admitted, looking over to the pair. "Berial looks well behaved at least. Real cute kid. What's with all the stuff on his arms?" "Oh" Reiha frowned and sighed, "Oh well" she shrugged, "Sei is real nice. Though he's kind of scared of Korbin it's okay because Korbin would never hurt him" Jizzy Jazz "I don't know...” Erik said... He was always worried about his arm... He'd tried to even wash it off, but the marking wouldn't fade, they even seemed to shift and change from time to time... "He had them when I found him on the train... He doesn’t even know what they are...” Berial didn't notice the frown as he moved to make another turret. "Who’s Korbin?' He asked now, sounded interested in him. Flamefire123 "Well that's weird" Adian said, looking over to him, "Well it shouldn't be anything to weird. I mean, it isn't hurting the kid obviously but you ever take him to a doctor about it?" Adian asked, "Just you know, to hear their opinion on it" "Korbin is my best friend" Reiha said proudly. "He's big and strong and protects me. He's very handsome too with flashing gold eyes" she described. Jizzy Jazz Erik looked over at Berial... He'd never once complained about the mark on his arm... "I suppose... I guess I just figured that a doctor wouldn't know anything about it, but then again, Gaia is an odd place...” He said. Berial ooohed... "He sounds so cool! You think I could meet him someday?" He asked excitedly, his hands dropping the task of the castle to pay rapt attention to Reiha. Flamefire123 "Yeah, don't I know it" Adian rolled his eyes and shrugged, "Oh well. You ever bug the pant less dude about it?" he asked him, "I mean I doubt he knows anything but wouldn't hurt to ask"
Reiha grinned, happily, she loved talking about Korbin. He was her best friend after all. "Of course, in fact if he gets done hunting he might come around here. He's very good at finding me" Jizzy Jazz Erik shook his head... "To be honest, he kind of scares me... He doesn’t seem too pleasant, but then again... I guess I'd be pretty grumpy if I was running around that train station without any pants. Berial ahh now, his mind already imagining some big golden eyes dog, cattish beast sort of thing and frankly he couldn't wait. "I hope he comes...” He said, nodding his head. "Does you Mu let you keep him in the house if he's so big?" He said, his over imaginative mind already straying to giants. Flamefire123 Adian snorted and remembered him, "Yeah he is a little b*****d. I've had no urge to go back because he just ditched me after I found Reiha, very rude sort of man. But not scary. Then again" Adian held up his hand as if trying to judge his height. "I think I was taller then him...." "I don't have a Mu" Reiha said quickly. "Adian is not my Mu. He's...something else" she said, shaking her head. "But not my Mu. He use to let Korbin in the house all the time but he got mad 'cause I went to the library with out him around and now Korbin can only come in at night" Jizzy Jazz Erik chuckled... He wasn't particularly tall, and even if he was taller, he was easily intimidated and hated confrontation... "Still, I've been keeping an eye for any sign... I mean... I used to think it was a tattoo until the designs shifted... Anything can happen here, and well... it's driving me mad...” Berial blinked. He could have been fooled. Adian had certainly acted like Reiha's Mu... Listening to her story he nodded. "Erik gets mad too when he can't see me... He says it's not that he's really mad, but that he's scared...” He said, turning back to the castle... "Maybe Adian was scared...” Flamefire123 Adian wasn't all that tall ether, but he gave the illusion of being tall because he was so gangly and thin. Which was fine, he liked the goofy appearance to match his goofy nature. And if he DID get into a fight then the person expected a weakling. "Yeah, I imagine that drive me nuts too" "He yelled" Reiha said with a frown, an annoyed one as her hands continued to mold her castle. "But he didn't hit him" she whispered, "That' what men do when they're mad they hit you...I think...I can't remember" Jizzy Jazz Erik leaned back on the bench. "This place is crazy and I'm not sure I'm up to it... I kind of miss Earth sometimes and its normalcy..." Berial frowned. If he had hit her, then he himself would have gotten mad... "Only bad people hit...” He stated simply. He didn't believe in violence, but then again, he couldn't remember a situation where he'd been forced to use it. Flamefire123 "Earth?" Adian asked confused. He was born here on Gaia. Never heard of Earth. Not surprising. Adian isn't exactly a news hound. More interested in how own life then the main events. "I guess" Reiha murmured watching the castle and pulling back, "Done" she said, it didn't look great but she managed to get a window in there and she felt awful proud of that. Jizzy Jazz Erik nodded... "I'm not originally from Gaia... I only came here a few months ago from Earth, had to hop a portal to get here too... “He said... It was odd for him to meet someone who didn't know of Earth... "It’s... very normal place...” "It's so cool!" He said, looking at it... His side was a bit lopsided, but the effort was obvious. "Now the prince and princess and all the people can have someplace to live...” Flamefire123 Adian laughed, "How boring" He stated as another female came walking buy. He grinned and watched openly. "I love the strange" he said proudly as she walked back. "Just love it" "Good" she said and rose, dusting the sand from her pants, then shaking it from her pants, just so it fall into her boots. She looked around, "Want to try the swings?" she suggested. Jizzy Jazz Erik flushed and seemed to shrink slightly as the woman walked by, his shyness getting the best of him... "I... I'm just not used to it, I think.. I like to know things for sure... I'm a scientist...” He said. Berial stood up, the sand from his shorts tumbling down into the sandbox... "Ok!! You wanna go first? I can push you." He offered, stepping out of the sandbox and heading towards the swings. Flamefire123 "Really?" he asked, "Hey, no worries, I would think a place like this would be damn exciting to a scientist" He mentioned, "I mean you got a bunch of new stuff to figure out right?" "Sure" she agreed, walking over to the swings and getting on. She couldn't remember the last time she was in a swing but she did know she loved to swing. This no memory thing was weird. Jizzy Jazz "It is, but sometimes I get overwhelmed, especially when it comes to magic... There's so much magic in Gaia, it's kind of scary sometimes... Though I have been trying to learn magic, too...” He admitted. Berial got behind her, and he pressed his hands against her back, pushing her on the swing. His blighted arm tingled slightly, but he didn’t notice as he pushed again, smiling. Flamefire123 Adian opened his mouth to respond but nothing came out as he stared at Reiha getting pushed. "Holy cow" he muttered, "She's letting Berial touch her. She freaks if I put a hand on her head. Well fights and swears. I need to fix that..." Adian shrugged and grinned. Glad someone could get Reiha to chill. Reiha was grinning too. Her legs moved in and out naturally as she gave herself a natural push. She let out a laugh as she came rushing down. She forgot exactly how much she liked this. IT was like flying. Or as close as she'd ever get. Jizzy Jazz Erik's eyes went to the kids and he smiled... They did seem like they were having a lot of fun... "Maybe she just warms up to him since he's her own age, or at least closer... or maybe it s awierd train-child thing...” He said. shrugging. Berial started to laugh as well, pushing her a bit harder so that she would go higher. "Swings are fun." He declared as he gave her another push, and he hadn’t even been on one yet... Flamefire123 "Passenger" Adian said, "That's what the girl who worked there called them. Passengers" Adian watched as Reiha was pushed. "It's probably more the age thing. I don't think she liked you ether honestly" Adian admitted. Reiha grinned back at him, "Even more fun when you're in the air" she called back to him happily. "You should try it soon" Jizzy Jazz "Passenger... That seemed appropriate, much better than train-child... He looked over at Reiha and nodded... "Maybe, but then again, I'm a stranger..." Berial nodded, but continued to push her... "Soon then...” He said, feeling gleeful, especially as he recalled how upset she'd been upon arrival. Flamefire123 "yeah, you also cower" Adian said bluntly. He didn't hide things. "It's sort of hard to be scared of someone who cowers. No offence” he added with a grin. Reiha laughed as she pumped herself higher and got some extra help. That was nice. Soon she was going as high as she could go. She felt like she could go over though. She wanted too. Jizzy Jazz Erik chuckled softly. "None taken... I know I do... I'm just not good with people... Fish I can deal with, but people...not so much...” He said honestly. Berial gave her another push, but he looked a bit worried as she began to go higher... "Careful. You might flip over...” He said, watching the swing carefully so she didn’t do a full spin. Flamefire123 Adian grinned, 'I believe I like you Erik" he told him, "It's refreshing to find someone aware of they're own weakness. You seem to be dealing with me just fine though. Last time I checked I'm not a fish"
"That be cool" Reiha said simply as she pushed harder and swung up. She suddenly jumped though, when she was at the top of the arc. For a second she flew. Then....landed. She gave a small wince but let her head fall back as she landed on her feet, and hand. "That was fun!" Jizzy Jazz Erik shifted and grinned at the compliment... "Yeah well... Gaia's been good to me so far I guess... It's hard not to be outgoing here, there so many things to discover...” Berial had actually been really frightened as she left the swing, horror had flashed briefly across his face and he left his post to go to Reiha, but as she lifted her head and spoke, he felt much better. "You're not hurt, right?" He asked, worried. Flamefire123 "Right...discover" Adian said, twisting his head to send a special grin to a passing mother. She flashed him her wedding ring. Adian just waved and laughed. "Lots to discover is right dude" "Nope" Reiha said easily, standing up and dusting herself off. Her knees might bruise but pain meant little to the girl. "Your turn" Jizzy Jazz Erik blushed at Adian's forward behavior with the woman... He knew he'd never be able to be that confident around anyone... "I... I was thinking of a more scientific perspective..." Berial grinned at her as she proved to be ok. He had been scared... "Ok...” He said, moving over to the wing and hoping on, making sure to grab onto the sides tightly as he began to swing. He didn't feel like jumping off quite yet. Flamefire123 "And that" Adian started, "Is your problem. Women, I have found, are the best experiment in the world" She wasn't going to push him. She wanted to fly, and for a second she did. Reiha walked over to the swing and started to push. "Pump your legs back and forth" she instructed. "And lean back when your legs are out. That will make you go faster and higher" Jizzy Jazz Erik looked confused. "How? They're so... so... irregular and unpredictable...” He said, his hands waving around as if to exalt how odd women really were to him. Berial listened and followed her instructions, having a bit of difficulty at first but he soon got the rhythm of it. He laughed as he went higher, his hands still clasped onto the swing's side, but he wasn't thinking about it anymore. Flamefire123 Adian laughed, "You should meet my sister" he mentioned, "She is neither nether odd nor irregular. She's straightforward, sensible and downright boring. You two should get along" he called out, patting Erik on the back, rather hard but in a friendly way. "Besides that's the fun part of women. If you play the game their way than you get all you can ever want. So long you make it clear what you want and then give them what they want. And if those wants don't match up then you go before things get sticky" Adian said with a shrug. Reiha still helped him by pushing but she grinned. He was fun, a bit...not stupid, and just naive more. He just didn't know things yet. He caught on pretty quick though. That was good. Jizzy Jazz Erik chuckled awkwardly and shook his head... "I'm just not used to people... especially girls... I couldn't really... I get all flustered and I always say something stupid, or I talk to much or something...” Berial was laughing, grinning as he went higher and higher, though as he climbed up, he started getting a bit scared frankly, opening his eyes and looking down... He was very high up... Stopping his legs from swinging, he called out to Reiha... "You can go again...” He said. He felt a bit unnerved up so high. Flamefire123 "Some chicks dig that' Adian said with a shrug, "Me I like to sparkle them with my witty dialogue and my charming sense of humor" he said and laughed. Reiha watched as he stopped moving after he got to a certain point, and then she remembered how he acted when she got high. Was he scared of heights? Jizzy Jazz Erik shrugged... "Your approach sounds like it could work... I know a few chemistry jokes, but that’s about it..." He said. "And fish... I know a lot about fish...” Slowing down, he hoped off the swing as it got to a safe speed and grinned at her, not really showing any signs of fear now that both feet were on the ground... "You can go again if you like...” Flamefire123 Adian laughed, 'It dose work pal it works VERY well. You see the guys that go by looks alone; they tend to be kind of assholes. Me I'm also sweet, plus I'm not hideous, just not Prince Charming
"Alright" Reiha said, climbing back on, "You should try jumping from high up though. It makes you feel like you're flying. I have a friend with wings you know" she said starting to pump her self. "He can fly" Jizzy Jazz Erik grinned awkwardly, listening to Adian's works as if taking mental notes of every word. "You seem to have thought about this a lot...” He said, nodding as he went over what Adian had told him... Maybe he could risk being, a bit less shy... Berial shook his head... "I'm fine...” He said, but his interest piqued as she mentioned this friend of hers. "I've never met anyone with wings, but Lazare and Aiolos can fly, but they don't have wings... They're sprockets...” He said, getting behind her as he started to aid her swing. Flamefire123 "Everyday since I was 13" he said honestly. "I enjoy women" h said it without shame or pride, it was simply fact. "They're fun and I enjoy sex. I enjoy sex with women and I hope they enjoy it with me" Adian ended this with a shrug. "His name is Kasch. He has big white bat wings" she explained, letting her arms go out as she flapped them. "He's taking care of a bird and has an egg. He likes Korbin and we learn about birds together" Flamefire123 Erik's cheeks went a bright red at hearing Adian speak so calmly about sex and women. He himself was a bit of a prude, some would say... "I... that... interesting philosophy...” Berial sounded very interested and he listened closely, but he watched Reiha as she let go of the side, and his pushing became softer... "Be careful, please... You could fall...” Flamefire123 Adian laughed and glanced over at him. "Don't tell me you don't enjoy it" he ordered lightly, pushing him Adian was shameless. He just sat there grinning his stupid grin. "So?" Reiha asked as she leaned back, though she grabbed the swing again. "I'll be fine Berial" she promised, "I'm not hurt easily, not seriously hurt at least" Jizzy Jazz Erik's cheeks flushed deeper as the subject was pressed on... 'Well... I wouldn't know... I mean... I've never..:” Great, now he was mumbling like a fool. Berial began to push a bit harder again, but he was still cautious... "But still...” He said softly... "Just because you don't get hurt easily, doesn't mean you should get hurt..." Flamefire123 Adian blinked and looked over at him with a look of pure confusion on his face. "You're a virgin!?" he whispered it like it was blasphemy. Or impossible. Reiha grinned, "Korbin will like you" she told him as she straightened up and pushed harder, wanting to jump again. "He feels the same way" Jizzy Jazz Erik didn't think his face could get any redder. His ears were even flushing as he coughed and adjusted his glasses on his nose. "I yes... well. I'm just 17... I mean... “He said, mumbling now. Berial noticed her desire to go higher and he kept up his steady push, as long as he could see her and make sure she was ok... "That's good..." He said... "I think I'll like Korbin too...” Flamefire123 "17? Hell by that time I was getting laid pretty regular" Adian said, straighten up, all trace of joking gone. He was oddly serious about this, at least oddly serious for him. "You might, he can be mean but only if he thinks you're not worthy of me and since he thinks that of everyone he's quite mean" Reiha just laughed, "I love him though" Jizzy Jazz This did not make Erik feel any better and he seemed to shrink in his seat as his face just kept reddening... "Well, I lived in a very small town and I was home schooled and..: He was babbling, as if trying to find some excuse for it... Berial nodded. He sounded just like he was very overprotective of Reiha. "You're lucky to have him to take care of you...” He said. Flamefire123 "Home schooled huh? I guess that would help your shyness" Adian mused, "Hmmmm, that's a pickle of a problem. Now you got a kid, much harder to get laid when you got a kid to take care of" Adian said with a serious nod. "Yes" Reiha said softly, looking up at the sky, "I am. I don't know what I would do without Korbin he's so...perfect, for me" Jizzy Jazz "I didn't really think of it that way... I was much more worried about him getting into my lab and getting hurt or something... God knows, I get hurt enough there. Like this one time, I burned off my eyebrows, not on purpose, but it happened...” Berial smiled. "I have Isaac, I guess, but he likes to spend a lot of time in Erik's lab... I'm not allowed in by myself, so I can’t go..." Flamefire123 "I know I know" he said, waving it away, and not letting the topic drop like he could tell Erik wanted him to, "But I'm just saying. It's harder to get laid. Though chicks dig kids" Adian mused and shrugged. "Who’s Isaac?" Reiha called out as she swung back and forth. "What is he like?" Jizzy Jazz This rung odd in Erik's head. "They do? Wouldn't it make them, all weirder?" Berial kept pushing as he explained. "He's purple and Erik calls him a gyre, but he looks like a small person and he has this little ball that he rolls around and it can explode and bounce really really high... He likes to crash into stuff with it...” Flamefire123 "Huh? No, I just meant they like to coo over them" Adian said, and glanced over at Reiha, "Well they'll like to coo over Berial. He's cute and sweet. Reiha would probably cuss them out." "Gyre" Reiha tested the word on her tongue and nodded after getting it. "He sounds cute" Reiha said and as she reached the top of her arc jumped, high into the air, her arms spreading out as she let herself fall. Jizzy Jazz This made a lot more sense... "Yes... I guess so... He is a cute kid, and he's soft spoken, so yah... I guess the girls would like him...” He said. Berial felt fear grip him again as Reiha jumped and as she spread her arms, he grew even more worried... His blighted arm tickled as he watched her, moving slightly, though he would have never been fast, or strong enough to catch her... "Be careful...” Flamefire123 "Yeah, so use Berial sometime. You don't have to get laid but go out on a date, have some fun. You're too serious" Adian told him, hitting his back again. "All this studies you do. I haven't you mention a friend since we met" She landed, with a thump, she was laughing as she hit the ground and she fell back. "I love doing that!" she called out before she jumped up. Jizzy Jazz "Well... I don't know many people here... Just you, Chao, she's another guardian, and I know my old baby sitter from a few years back is running around here somewhere.." He said softly... "I didn't really leave the house much until I got the ticket...”
Berial was at her side as she fell back, relief on his face as he saw she was ok... He was obviously a bit scared of heights now, and the mark on his arms seemed to be darkening, though it was probably just a trick of the light as it took its normal shade soon... "I... you scared me...” he admitted. Flamefire123 "Well what's wrong with this Chao person?" Adian asked. Didn't Hikari mention someone named Chao? Adian couldn't remember. Hikari was sure cute. He grinned in remembrance then shook his head. Adian tended to stay away from mothers. They wanted commitment mostly. "I'm sorry" Reiha said, looking up at him from the ground, and then glanced at his arm. "What's with your arm?" she asked him, pointed to the marks. Jizzy Jazz Erik's cheeks took on a smaller blush now and he shrugged... "Well I only just met her for a short while at the train station... I... She probably doesn't remember me.." Berial looked over at his arm idly and shrugged... "They're my marks... I've always had them...” He said, though, he somehow doubted he had, but then again, he'd had them as long as he could remember.. Flamefire123 "Well then go see her again" Adian said with a shrug, leaning back. Then paused for a moment, "You aren't homo are you?" "They look cool but they were darker for a moment" Reiha mentioned. "Do they do anything?" Jizzy Jazz Erik shook his head fervently... "No, no, I'm not... not that they're anything wrong with it though... I just... I like girls...” He said, stumbling over his words as he waved his hands in denial. Berial looked at them, and he honestly didn't see the difference... "They change sometimes, but that's it...” He said... He didn’t know much about the mark that crept up his arm at all. Flamefire123 "Well good" Adian said, "Not that anything is a problem with it but still" He shrugged slightly and was fine with his slight homo-phobia. It was normal in his mind, at least for guys like him. "Weird" she said with a shrug and got up. "I don't remember where I was before the train" she said, "I came here on a train" Jizzy Jazz "I just get... scared...” He admitted, sighing... "I'm not made for social interaction...” He said, shaking his head... Berial looked at her in awe. "So did I...” He said... "It was big train and it was really empty and then Erik came on and he took me out, and it was kind of scary because of the pant less man, but then I met Chesh and Chao upstairs... Do you think all kids come from trains?" He said all this very quickly and very excitedly, with hand gestures and all. Flamefire123 "You just have to get over this mental block in your head" Adian said, "I bet you do real well with a double date" Adian decided, musing over the girl's he knew. He of course didn't know any 17 year olds. Legality and all. "Naw" Reiha said with the shake of her head. Some how she knew some babies came from somewhere else but she wasn't sure where. "I think...I think some come from where else" she said softly. Jizzy Jaz Erik shrugged... "I wouldn’t know really...” He said simply... He'd never tried to work on his social skills, it’d never really been one of his priorities, but now with Berial, he kept being forced out of the house and into the company of people, so it was posing a problem. "Do you think we came from somewhere else and then we got on the train?" He asked. He hadn't really thought about it too much, where he came from, his mark, and then train, there were too many new things too see... "I heard once about a stork which delivers kids, maybe he and the train work together...” Flamefire123 "Well I'm going to help ya pal" Adian promised, "After all you spend far too much time with beakers and such" he said with a serious sort of nod. For some reason that made Reiha laugh. She didn't know what exactly was so funny about it but it made her laugh. "Adian is always bugging me to know what happened before I was on the train but I don't remember. All I remember is waking up and finding Korbin in my arms and myself on a train" Quote: Erik nodded softly. He felt a bit imposed, but he wasn’t the type who would refuse help when offered to him... Adian was only trying to help after all... "I thanks...” Berial was happy he made her laugh and he grinned... "I was just... there... It was scary though... It was such a big train and I was alone...” He said, fiddling with his shirt... "Were there anyone else there when you were on the train?" Flamefire123 Adian was just someone who liked to decide what was right and would make it so. He grinned; happy he managed to fix that problem and leaned back. "No, but I like to be alone" Reiha admitted, "And I wasn’t really alone. I had Korbin with. Korbin is all the company I need" Jizzy Jaz Relaxing his shoulders Erik leaned back and removed his glasses from his face for a moment... He'd almost gotten used to the outdoors by now (as long as it was nice and controlled like this). "I think I might bring Berial back here again... it's nice...” Berial looked over at her in a bit of surprise... "You're very brave... I don't like to be alone, it's scary sometimes...” He admitted... He had his moment when he liked his quiet time, but he thrived with knowing that there was SOMEONE anyone else there, being alone all by himself, scared him... Jizzy Jaz Erik looked at the kids and frowned... "I wonder what they're so serious about...” He thought aloud, watching them... Berial looked up at her... He didn't have such moments of remembrance. His mark didn't even bring any sort of twinge to his mind even... "I wouldn't know... I don't remember anything at all from before the train... It’s a big nothing...” Flamefire123 "Hell if I know" Adian muttered, "But that girl manages to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders and blames you for not helping and will be pissed off it you try?"
Reiha shrugged, "I dunno" she whispered, looking away and then getting up., "Come on, let's do something fun" she decide, putting down her hand to help him up. Jizzy Jaz Erik watched them... "Do you think they're really parents will ever come for them?" He asked softly. He'd been thinking a lot about fatherhood and everything, and he was realizing that, he wasn't Berial's father, his guardian perhaps... Berial accepted her hand and pulled himself up, smiling as the subject was changed... He didn't like the feeling of, nothingness that accompanied his past. Maybe he just didn't want to think about it that much... "What about that?" He said, pointing to the seesaw. Flamefire123 Adian frowned and looked at Reiha. "If hers came I don't think I should give her to them" he said softly and then glanced at Erik. "I think...she might have been abused" Adian admitted for a moment, no trace of joking in his face now. Reiha smiled, "Sure" she said, "That looks like fun" she said as she walked forward, her hand still around Berial's, at least it was till they reached the seesaw, then Reiha got on her side. Jizzy Jaz Erik's face went sad... It was always sad to hear about things like that. "If that's the case, then it'd a good thing she found the train...” He said simply... If that had been the case, then Reiha was lucky to have escaped it. "She doesn’t remember though, about before the train?" He asked... Berial didn't remember a thing at all. Berial moved over to his side, grasping the handlebars as he grinned widely over at Reiha... Pushing upwards, he chuckled as his side ascends ended, and he was very content with the height it went, especially after hearing the clunk and knowing it couldn't go any higher. "I like the playground...” He said, looking around. There were still things he hadn’t tried. The slide, the monkey bars... Flamefire123 "No, I'm not ever sure" Adian said honestly, "Just a few months ago she kind of ran away. It wasn't like she really ran away, she just decide to leave the house and didn't mention it to me. I got pretty pissed because I was freaked when she was gone. Anyway when she goes back I really yell at her. I didn't touch her of course but I yelled. When the whole thing was over she just asked me if I was going to hit her" Adian shuddered at the thought. To him there was nothing worse then a man who beat up on women and children. He'd never hit a female. She enjoyed this but like swings better. It was kind of fun once they got their rhythm down. "I like it too" she said pushing off. "I guess I should listen to Adian more" Jizzy Jazz "I'd freak too if Berial left, but... that's... that's kind of awful that she'd think that... but if she does. It’s almost sure that she's been hurt before...” He said, looking over at the kids... "It's sad... She’s just a kid... She shouldn't have to worry about that this young...” Berial was having a lot more fun than on the swings, rising and falling. "He had a good idea. Erik didn't want to come, but I think he liked it too...” {Edited due to lost of files}

Breakfast at Berial's Users: Flamefire123, Jizzy Jazz Characters: Reiha, Adian, Berial, Erik Setting: Berial's house Link: Breakfast at Berial'sReiha went over to Berial's house, looking forward to a night of fun with her friend. Adian was looking forward to being about to spend a night alone with a special lady friend. After a very sentimental good bye Reiha and Korbin were left with Berial and Erik. After short intro ductions to household members and geusts Berial wanted to show Reiha somthing. He wanted to show Reiha, Hubert, the octopus that could talk via sign that he wrote himself. Reiha found him very intresting though Korbin was more concerned about his stomache at this time. Soon the conversation turned to Reiha's magic book, and her dream to one day learn to fly. Berial was very suportive of her dream, not so suportive of her idea to take him with.
As the pair headed to the kitchen to ask Erik to explain what was in Reiha's magic book Reiha acidently made a mistake and said Adian liked to nail women. A comment Berial took literatly and started to freak out. This would not be the first time Berial misunderstood Reiha. After Erik and Reiha called down Berial he made Reiha promise to tell him if she was ever hurt. It was then that Erik noticed that Berial's mark on his arm was moving.
In an effort to cheer Berial up Reiha took him out star gazing, where they found pictures in the stars (besides the constlations). Erik joined them and soon star gazing turned into a magic lession. Elea ie' dome to make a crystal light up and 'kshonna to make it darken again. Reiha was able to exsquish the light on her first try but burnt her hand when trying to light it back up again. Korbin grabed the crystal so it wouldn't hurt Reiha too bad and got badly burned in the proncess. Reiha refused to give up till she managed to make the crystals light up and in the end was the only one not concerned about her injury.
Erik took the gang inside where he used magic jelly to heal Korbin's foot but Reiha refused medical treatment. She just asked for a bandaid, and magic lessions. Berial got scared again and Reiha calmed him down by promiseing to never pratice magic alone. Erik bandaged Reiha's hand and said he'd teach her if Adian agreed. Reiha was anoyed that Adian could stop her magic lessions but let it go to not upset Berial anymore.
After talking Erik out of cooking and into ordering pizza the young pair started to tell stories and do water colors. During the second story though Reiha freaked out as the story triggered an old memory, she lost all contact with the real world and it took Korbin scratching her to snap her back. This again made Berial freak out as he worried he hurt his friend. His guilty concious caused his mark to wither and his heart to hurt. To ease his concious Reiha took all the blame and told him that he protected her from memories like that by making her happy. The little boy was determained to continue doing that. That's when the decleration of best friends was made.
Then the pizza arived. Reiha gave Korbin to Berial, wanting them to become closer. Berial tried to make peace by giving him pizza, which Korbin enjoyed. Erik joined them and asked what they were drawing before Reiha's little eppisode. Ironicly enough Reiha's picture was of her and Berial looking up at Korbin in the sky, it was simple, childish and not much like the girl. Berial's on the other hand was dark and disterbing for the innocent little boy. He didn't really seem to notice though, jsut promised to draw a better picture next time for Reiha.
Reiha soon turned the topic to Erik, first asking what his job was then started to mention how he seemed scared to leave the house and that he wasn't a fighter. Her perectivness surpised the shy man who really had nothing to say. Berial just jumped down to draw Reiha a pretty pictures. After she was done tearing down than building up Erik Reiha returned to eating the pizza. Berial drew a picture of Korbin for Reiha and soon the pair were sent to bed.
After a breif discussion about PJs and Reiha opened a window so Korbin could come and go as he pleased the pair went to bed. The next morning Reiha woke up first, having some ceral with Erik till Berial returned. The three ate breakfast till Korbin returned from his morning forage as well. He brought news that Adian was comming, sadening the girl. Erik went to get Reiha's beginer's magic book and the light up crystals he promised while Berial suggested Reiha try to move in with him since Reiha disliked Adian so much. Erik quickly shot down the plan, upsetting the two kids and Korbin.
Adian walked into the house in a great mood, (He got laid!) but it wouldn't last. Berial attacked Adian (sort of, he pushed him) and said that he hurt Reiha, which was of course a lie. Reiha at first impressed at Berial felt guilty for making him think that. So she asured him that wasn't true. Erik asked the kids to go to another room while he told Adian what had happened while he was on his date. Adian was not surpised but sadden by the news and mentioned how he thought Reiha was abused and swore to protect her even if she didn't like him.
When the kids returned they had another plan. This time it was for Berial to visit Reiha, this one both Erik and Adian agreed too. With the plans for next weekend set Adian took girl and crow home.

The Ride Home Adian was quiet the first few miles away from Erik's house but this time he had Reiha in the front seat. They both knew they needed to talk, and they both knew that if they didn't do it when they were forced to be toegether they wouldn't do it. It was so easy to avoid talking when she avoided being with him at any cost nessicary, at first Adian thought it would just be better to give her that, after all when every he tried to talk to her she'd just clam up or get ferice with it. There was no doubt in his mind that she really hated living with him but he thought that was just normal for a fericly independent girl like Reiha.
But what if it wasn't? The things that happened at Berial, the eppisode, the stuff she said, the way Berial thought he hurt her. That wasn't normal. Adian has never lifted a hand to the girl, never done anything to her and yet she hated him with a blind passion that was frightening in such a young girl. A girl her age should be playing with dolls and laughing, not clinging to some bitter crow, courting magic lessons and freak out while telling a story. That wasn't normal, it was time he did something about it.
"Reiha...we can't keep on going like this?"
"Like what?" Reiha asked, though she knew what Adian was talking about. She expected this, she even felt it comming. Adian and ehr have been at a standoff for weeks now and her inablity to crush him was growing more and more frustrating. Now though, after seeing him talk that way, Reiha wasn't sure she could beat him at all. He wasn't stupid as she liked to think. He wasn't weak willed. He just was on the the path in life he wanted to be on. He was...happy. Not just sometimes like she and Korbin were but all the time, over all Adian was happy with life.
Reiha didn't know what that was like. Even with Berial, her best human friend, they were consently courting sadness, throwing themselves into tasks to try and chase it away. Reiha didn't know why but she wanted to, desperately so. Something sad happened to Berial, she was sure of her, but something sad happened to her too, something...scary. Something she wasn't sure if she wanted to remember. She remembered what Korbin said. Let old dogs lay, could she really do that?
"The way we live" Adian sighed and risked looking away from that never ending road to her. "Reiha, why do you hate me so much? You're a little girl, you're not suppose to be on your own. I give you as much space as I possibly can without charging you rent. You're half a decade old and yet you act like I'm chaining you to the house. I offer to take you places, you don't want to go. I try to sign you up for daycare, you get into fights. I take you to a sleepover and I get accused of hurting you. What am I doing that's so horrible Reiha? What am I doing that's so wrong?"
"I'm not normal" Reiha clung to Korbin, as if he was a stuffy. She knew the crow was keeping quiet for her, he could have stoped this conversation if he wanted to. "I see Berial and he likes Erik, his Mu. He listens but I don't wnat to. I don't like being told what to do. I can take care of my self. I don't need you!"
"But you do!" Adian shot back, as her voice rose so did his, he was just as eager to get into a fight as she was. "You do need me. I buy the food. I pay the rent. Maybe you don't need me to dress you. Maybe you don't need me to tell you to wash your hands, or sit up straight but you do need me. Goddamnit Reiha I'm your stupid Mu!" What the ******** is a Mu!?
"Don't yell at me!" Reiha yelled back. "I don't need a Mu! I could buy food and pay for rent. I can do anything. I'm smart and I'm willing to work. I don't spend all my time thinking about how to nail women!"
"What is with this obession with my sex life!?" Adian demanded, good thing nothing related to sex bothered Adian otherwise he might be embaressed about dicussing his sexual habits with a five year old girl. "Yes I have sex. Yes I like it. Well string me up and beat me blue! It's not a crime Reiha and last time I checked it never concered or affected you. I never left you alone so I could have sex, not that you should even care. In fact when you're in the house I avoid it all together. I wait till you're out of the house, by your own choice by the way, then I ask a girl over. I've changed my entire life for you Reiha and all you do is throw it back into my face! Why? What have I ever done to you? What horrible crime have I commited?" Adian turned to look and then just stared, mouth going slack.
Tears streamed down Reiha's face. She just watched him, her entire body shaking as she cried. Korbin glared but kept quiet, despite his great desire to stop this conversation he had a feeling Adian would throw him out of the car if he spoke up right now. All he could do was be held by Reiha as she cried.
A sudden blare of a horn snaped Adian out of it, he turned and swerved suddenly only to jerk his way back into his lane then pull off the road, ignoring the many horns that were screaming at him and the many fingers that were being flashed. He just turned and ubckled himself, than Reiha. He moved Korbin and just pulled the girl tight to his chest.
"Nothing" she sobbed. "Nothing at all"
"Let me do something" Adian said softly, holding her closer. "You don't have just that bird in this house. Talk to me. I'll listen, I'll talk back, I'll help you. Let me help you Reiha. It's okay to need me. It's okay to be a girl"
"Everyone leaves" Reiha whispered, curling up. "Nothing lasts forever"
"Then take what you can get" Adian murrmered, looking down at the ground, "Take what you need. You need me Reiha, and I need you."
"No you don't. Your life would be better if I wasn't here" Reiha groweled, starting to pull away, that moment of weakness over.
Adian wouldn't let her though, he pulled her close and made sure she couldn't get away. "I never said that" he whispered, "I never ever said that. Yes my life changed when you steped in it but who said it wasn't for the better?" he asked her, turning her head so she would look at him. "Reiha, I need you. You're mine now, my family. I need my family. I care for you. Why can't you care back?"
"Familes hurt you" Reiha whispered. "They leave or...or..." Eyes closed, a big fist, blinding pain, rotting beer, rotting breath, rotting soul. Get me out. Get me out! "Or hurt you. They change and leave and-"
"Not my family" Adian said firmly. "Not me. Reiha stop comparing me to someone you can't even remember. I'm not your old family. I'm someone different. Someone new. Someone you can trust"
"How can I know? People lie. They pretend and make promises they never keep" Reiha whispered from his arms.
"Watch me Reiha." Adian said simply and let her go, pulling back. She would have to reach out next time. "Just watch me, how I treat you, how I treat others. You see things that most people don't. I know you'll see the truth eventually" There it was, creeping back that simple smile for his simple face. His hand reached over, big and strong, but it just ruffeled her hair, "You're pretty smart for a brat. Come on, let's get some Mc Donalds. All kids love that, and Korbin will love the fries" Adian pulled back into his seat, buckeling up and glanced over at Reiha, "Buckle your seat belt" he ordered, and drove back into the trafic.

It's obvious that Reiha is having some trust issues with most everyone she meets. She's reserved, smart and keeps to herself and Korbin.
Aidan tries to care for the girl, but he himself is at a loss in this sort of playing field, not to mention the warm fuzzy moments between Reiha and him are far and few between.
Quest Reiha can't go through life as a child without the paternal figure and let's face it; Korbin, no matter how loyal, does not make up for the complete loss of a parent in the girl's life. The parent is needed to comfort, hold, help and care for it's young. Despite the small moments, where trust shines through, it's not enough for the tortures a child will face in it's life. And it's sure as not strong enough for the evils Reiha will undoubtedly come in contact with. Your quest is to somehow, falsely or in truth, strengthen the bond between child and guardian. Or at least let them come to a common and more comfortable ground. Reiha will most definitely need Aidan there where Korbin cannot be. Now checkout the stages post and get crack'n on that too xD

Slightly Scruffy Users: Flamefire123, Jizzy Jazz Characters: Reiha, Adian, Berial, Erik, Scruffy Setting: Berial's house Link: Slightly ScruffyJizzy Jazz The previously talkative air in the living room had fallen as Erik looked up at his counterpart sitting at the couch in front of him. They looked, the best comparison would be twins. They ahd the same color eyes, the same color hair, the same facial structure, but at the same time, it was obvious how entriefly different they were..
Scruffy, as Erik had grown to call him as to avoid confusion in his own mind, was jsut that, scruffy. His hair was a bit longer, his face and ahnds a bit roucher, his posture tougher, his build more defined.. Instead of wearing glasses like Erik did, Scruffy wore sunglasses, which Erik had learned were prescription. This hadn;t surprised him.. Him and Scruff were, in essense, the same person.
Sure Scruffy was some sort of Alternate Reality him, but he was him none theless, and while, at lfirst hesitant, worried he had brought Evil!Erik into his dimmention he soon came to realize that Scruffy Erik was jsut that... Scruffy..
"You got any ciggarettes around here?" Scruffy asked, his voice only slightly hoarser than Erik's as his eyes scanned around. He wasn;t that phazed about being dragged into an alternate dimmension, even if his counterpart here seemed rather.. Wimpy..
Erik shook his head. "Sorry.. Even if I did have some, I couldn;t give them too you. I'd be dangeroes to have something flamable inside the house. Not to mention it's unhygenic."
Yup.. He was a wimp alright.. Flamefire123 "Alright, alright" Adian groaned as he ushed the two sugar high kids out of his car. He knew it was a mistake to feed such a large amount of sugar to two five year olds but Adian's guiltly concious made him not care. OF course now he cared when he had Reiha saying things a mile a minute, and having serious mood swings, at least twords him. He felt like by protecting the pair he managed to break though another barrier that surrounded Reiha's heart (and hopefully he wouldn't get assult charges) but that didn't mean that Reiha would actually, you know, be nice to him or anything. Worse of all now he had to dump Berial on Erik which meant Reiha would be pissed 'cause she was alone. Adian wondered if he could talk Erik into watching Reiha again. Then the hyperness would be his problem....No, no. Adian couldn't do that to the poor kid. He geussed Reiha would just have to be his problem.
"No dolphins and whales are mamals" Reiha lectured Berial as they were getting into a slight argument over what a dolphin was. "I read a book on it and everything. Dolphins and whales breath air, just like we do. They also look a little different from fish. Anyway, they're mamamels. They have hair too, only it's hard to see. They can hold their breath for a LONG time to, that's how come they can live in the water"
Somebody shoot me was all Adian could think as he happily rang the door bell for Erik's place. Jizzy Jazz Erik jumped as the doorbell rung and he twitched slightly.
Scurffy only looked at his counterpart, rolling his eyes and getting to his feet. He was halfway across the living room before Erik snapped abck o his senses.
"What are you doing?" Erik hissed, apparently horrified.
"Getting the door, you idiot. What does it look like I'm doing?" He said, disbelieveing that his counterpart could really be that dumb. Reaching the doorway, he clicked the locks and opened up the door. Flamefire123 "Hey Erik" Adian greated, reaching down as he plucked Berial up and shoved him in his hands, using that gesutre as an excuse to move past him into the house. He was never one to wait paitently for inviatations or such. After all he walked into this house before without so much as knocking they should be happy they got that much out of him "I brought Berial back and..." Adian trailed off as he sat another Erik, he blinked and looked back, instantly noticing the difference between the two. Adian reached over and grabed Berial again, just setting him down now. "Okay...anyone mind explaining the new twin?"
Reiha walked in after Berial, Korbin on her head, a soda that she was still drinking in her hands. Sipping on the cola she looked at Scruff with intrest. Then she looked back to Erik, then back to Scruffy. With nothing more than intrest in her eyes she finally shrugged and turned.
"He's not a whimp like you Erik" Reiha announced walking in then pulled out the crystals. "Look I've been practicing. Elea ie' dome" she said proudly and the crystals alight with a soft glow, she grined up at Erik proudly. Jizzy Jazz Scruffy laughed at Reiha's words, shutting the door and trudging inside. "Seems like this girl has got you pinned dead on.." He said to Erik.
Erik only flushed. "I.. That's very good Reiha.." He said encouragingly, before looking up at Adian, then at Scruffy. "Uh.. I had a little.." He waved his hands around searching for the proper words he was lookign for. "mishap with some inerdimetional summoning.. Everyone, this is Erik. Erik, this is Adian, his.." He paused, unable to think of a better word. "daughter, Reiha and Berial.. He's mine.."
Scruffy nodded as Erik told his story, and looked over at the people he was jsut introduced to. He glanced at Adian, then Reiha, then Adian again.. "Sorry man, she doesn;t look like you at all.." He said, before his eyes went to Berial and trailed up his arm..
Berial hd been watchign intently at Adian's side, taking things in before he spoke, looking Scruffy dead in the eye.. "You're Scruffy.." He said honestly.. Flamefire123 "No she doesn't" ADian agried, glancing down at Reiha, not even their eye color was the same, he shrugged though, "She's kind of adopted" he told this...Scruffy at Berial called him. Which Adian had to admit seemed to be preety accurate. His hair was longer and he had some dirt on him, and his clothes were cooler. Adian grined, hopefully he'd be more loose than Erik.
"Well lucky b*****d" Adian mentioned to Erik, "You get an easy kid AND now you got a dad for him" Between Erik and Scruffy Erik was definatly more of a mom.
"I know people" Reiha told Scruffy as she sipped her soda and pulled the crystals back to her. She murrmered 'kshonna letting the crystals go dark before she slipped them away, quite happy. "I read the book you gave me too. Do you think you could teach me something else today? Since I'm here?" she asked, turning to look at Scruffy. "Can you do magic too? Is that why you're here? Where do you come from anyway? How come you and Erik aren't the same? Can I see your glasses? Do you need glasses like Erik? Do you think those sunglasses make you look cooler?" Jizzy Jazz "Berial's adopted as well." Erik added in before looking at Reiha, ignroing Adian's words, though his cheeks grew redder.
"Ah. That explains a lot.. You don;t look like you've ever been laid.." He said matter of factly, flopping back down onto the couch.
"Maybe not today.. I.. I used up a lot of magic and I still don;t know if the dimensional rift I made has closed entirely.. It wouldn't be too safe.. M sorry.." He replied, though he was quite pelased at how well she handled the crystals. But he frowned as Reiha flooded Scruffy with qestions. "Reiha.. I don;t know if Erik wants to ans.."
"No, I can't cast magic. I'm here because of this dolt." He amde aquick gesture towards Erik. "I come from Earth. I think the reasons why we aren't the same are pretty obvious. No you can;t see my glasses. Yes I do need them. And no, I don;t think they make me look cooler. I know.." And he said it all jsut as fast as Reiha had asked, before turning to Adian with a cold look. "and I'm not a dad.."
Berial had toddled hisway over to Erik, climbing up and sitting on the teen's lap as he watched the conversation go on. He frowned at Scruffy's non-parenting declaration. If a dad was anything like a Mu, he wouldn;t mind having two.. Flamefire123 Adian's reply to the cold look was a smirk as he rested a hand on Reiha, making sure to avoid Korbin as he didn't feell like ruining how cool he looked by getting attacked by the blasted bird. "Nethir was I" he replied, then moved to flop on the couch. He was content to stay here for a moment, let REiha run off some energy.
Reiha giggled and rolled her eyes at his comment. "I think Erik is cooler" she told him, loyal once a side was chosen, "After all Erik can do magic. I think magic is really cool. I'm going to learn lots of magic and then I'm going to fly. High in the sky. Right Berial?" Flamefire123 Adian's reply to the cold look was a smirk as he rested a hand on Reiha, making sure to avoid Korbin as he didn't feell like ruining how cool he looked by getting attacked by the blasted bird.
Right Berial?" Flamefire123 "Don't smoke" he said with a shrug as he streatched out his arms on the couch and crossed his legs. Adian wasn't a big man but he was a long one and because of that he tended to take up a lot of space. Not that he ever cared, Adian loved making a precence. To bad he lacked acting talent he would of made a great side kick actor.
Reiha frowned when she ehard the word ciggerate, looking too the ground as she tried to think why that word made her feel slightly stressed, and made a small tickle apear on the back of her throat. Still she didn't say anything, instead turned to Berial.
"That's right, just like Korbin. And sometimes I'll take you with me"m she turned back to Scruffy. "Berial's my best human friend. Oh and this is Korbin" she pointed to Korbin who still brooded on Reiha's head.
Korbin stared at the human, a mental snort in his head. What ever, was just another weak human. Even if he looked stronger he knew he could take them. The eye glasses would be another but there was plenty of other skin he could attack while trying to get the glasses off. Jizzy Jazz Scurfy scoffed. "Damn.." He said, upset that wasn;t able to get one.. He had thought Adian maybe, would have had one on him, but to no avail, and who knew how easy it would be to get his hands on some in this world. He's long since concluded (even before Erik ahd told him) that this wasn;t Earth.
Berial frowned. "Smoking's yucky, Scruffy. You shoul'nt do it. It smells bad and makes your teeth falls out and makes your lungs all yuck and the it kills you!" Berial said, impriving a bit from what he'd seen from commecials on tv.
Erik fought a snigger at the way Berial called him Scruffy, but he looked over at him and it died down.
Scruffy seemed nonchalant enough, but he sighed, as if tired and leaned back. "Ya.. I know.." He said simply.. Flamefire123 Adian shrugged and leaned back, letting his eyes close as the rest of the world continued on. IT was such a hastle to drive to Erik's house. If Reiha wasn't such good friends with Berial it wouldn't be worth it. Still eh was trying to get Reiha to sort of tolerate him. Sad in his mind that he was fighting to please a little girl and loosing so horribly.
"Sometimes..." Reiha frowned and looked up at him, "Sometimes you need something to end your life faster" She looked straight at him, as if she was remembering a time when she tried to do that too. "Sometimes you want your lungs to go black. Just so you can leav ethe rest of the world behind. Sometimes you're too scared to do real sucide so you go for the longer method" Jizzy Jazz Three sets of eyes were immedaitly upon Reiha. Erik's eyes were wide. Berial's slightly frightened. "Reiha.. you shouldn't talk like.." Erik started but was stopped as Sruffy palced a hand on his arm.
Scruffy was looking straight at Reiha, the look on in his eyes showing, just how right Reiha was.. He looked scared, surprised that soemone had so easily read his motives, not to mention that it was a five year old girl.
Erik's eyes went to his counterpart and he seemed to slouch. "But.. wh.."
"You know ******** well, why.." He snapped, leaning back again, breaking eye contact with Reiha.
Erik seemed to shrink even more and his arms went around Berial, giving him a tiny squeeze.. He knew.. They'd talked for a bit before everyones arrival and they'd found out where there lives began to differ..
Berial looked up at Erik, at Scruffy, then at Reiha, shifting in the uncomfortable ai before he voiced his question, softly, and almost scared.. "what's suicide?" Flamefire123 "Hey" Adian spoke up in the time of great stress and only had one thing to say, "Not in front of the kids, Scruffy. We're trying to raise moral and up right people here" His words were calmed and ADian didn't scare at Reiha. the words didn't surpise him. Not when he suspected she was horribly abused before he found her, and was far to smart for her age. Of course she would know about sucide and all that. It did make him sad though, but there was nothing he could do but try to make today good enough for her to forget yesterday.
Reiha watched Scruffy, knowing that he was surpised at how much she knew. In all honesty she didn't read him at all. She just...knew what that life felt like. Scared, so scared but so tempted by a blade, or a bullet that you seek, looking for some for of escape, a deadly escape that will eventually kill you because you don't have the courage to do it yourself. Reiha then glanced to look at Berial before she looked to Scruffy again.
"It's a bad thing that really sad people do when they think they have no other choice. But they're wrong. There's always another option. You can't let life beat you. You're have to be stronger than that. You have to win! Life is hard, but you have to be harder." Reiha turned to looked at Berial, and then she smiled, "But you don't have to worry about that. You got friend" Jizzy Jazz Scruffy looked about to retirt and say something awefully rude to Adian, when a short pleading glance from Erik silenced him.. Despite all thier differences, they knew one another well.. He leaned back and mumbled a soft "sorry.."
Berial listened to Reiha's explaination and frowned.. Why would Scruffy be so sad that he wanted to bad things like that? Looking over at Scruffy, he noiced how Erik and he shared the same sort of ahunted look in thier eyes.. Had his Mu once been that sad too?
Looking p at Reiha though, he smiled at her last words.. "Reiha doesn;t ahve to worry either.." He said. He'd be there for ehr to make sure she didn;t get sad.
Erik smiled weakly, glad Berial had not pushed on the somber subject of suicide and gave the boy another soft squeeze. Flamefire123 "No I don't" Reiha smiled and took his hand. Her bad mood utterly gone as she was a happy child again. She didn't want to leave Berial yet so she looked at the adults. "Can we go play outside for a little while?" she asked, which was pretty amamzing because normally she'd just tug on Berial and go, but since Adian and her's last talk she's been trying to be more...normal.
"I don't care" Adian asured her and he opened an eye, "Make sure you stay close to the house though" He didn't need to worry about their safty since he knew Korbin would watch over the kids better than he would anyday. There were avatages to the stupid bird, sort of like having a free babysitter. And he didn't even have to really feed Korbin, not extra food anyway. Jizzy Jazz Berial beamed at Adian for giving them permission to go and he leapt from Eril's lap and rushed to her side. "Let's go.." He said, reaching for her ahnd and heading otu quickly.
Scruffy watched them go in silence before he let out a a long sigh. Opening his mouth, he started to speak before he receieved a hard slap upside the head from Erik, causing his shades to tilt oddly on his face. "OWW! What was that for?"
"What did you think you were doing?" Erik hissed, his eyes angry. "They're only kids. They don;t need to be told about suicide or murder or curse words, for that matter."
Scruffy screwed up his face.. "They have to find out sometime.. It always happens.. CHildhood doesn;t last as long as it used to...OWWW!!"
Erik had hit him again. He was beng unaturally agressive. "Thier childhood has to last. You do;t know what those kids have been through, so jsut.. jsut be quiet ok.. They've had it bad enough.." Flamefire123 "Reiha already knows' Adian said softly, opening his eyes as he sat up, "But she doesn't need to be reminded" he added, glaring at this Scruffy, "Lighten up dude. You only get one life, might as well enjoy it" he added, meaning what he said fully. It was how he lived his life, trying to enjoy every moment that he could. Because of it people thought he was stupid or shallow but he didn't care. He liked girls, so he dovoted time to geting them. He liked having fun, so he learned to laugh as much as he could. And he liked his family so he spent time with them, including Reiha.
"Mmmm, Other Erik is werid" REiha said as they were outside, Korbin taking up in the air to fly around a little. He wouldn't leave he just wanted to streatch his wings out. "He's all dark and gloomy. I like real Erik better, he's nice and is teaching me magic." Scruffy reminded REiha of things she didn't like to be reminded of. Like depression and sucidal thoughts, and that feeling that if you disapeared no one would really truely care, but that stuff wasn't true anymore. Korbin would care. Berial would care. Even Adian would care. Reiha smiled, it was nice to know how many people would care. Jizzy Jazz Scruffy's eyes flashed slightly and his grip on the chair tightened. "You don't kno.. you ca.." but he was cut off by Erik again, this time by his counterpart placing a soft hand on his knee..
"Are you close with your parents, Adian?" He asked softly..
Berial nodded in agreement, flopping down onto the floor and feeling the grass betweeen his fingers. "He's a little scary, but Scruffy stil's a lot like my Mu.. I think he's jsut sad.." He said, twirling the grass, sounding as if he ahd jsut said soemthing very deep and philosophical, beofre he looked up and grinned goofily. "DO you think if we let Scruffy take a nap, he'll feel better?" Flamefire123 "My dad. My mom died when I was young" Adian shruged, "I'm not saying you don't have a right to be sad" he told Scruffy, "But I am saying to lighten up. Find something you enjoy in life and do it" he told him, "Look, I've had hard times too. Maybe not as hard as you two, but I know what it's like to be sad. You can mope in it, or you can throw yourself into something enjoyable. Get yourself a girl dude" Adian grined now, "And you," he turned suddenly to Erik, "I got this girl, she has a younger sister, 16, tottally legal. I was thinking we'd do a double date. Try to get you out of this damn house"
Reiha giggled, "I don't think he needs a nap Berial. He needs a friend. Like you. Someone bright and cheerful who can make him laugh. Then he'll be better" She was sure of it. "Or maybe he needs a Korbin, someone so dark but loyal that you can't help but look at the brighter things in life" Jizzy Jazz Scruffy sighed.. Erik shouldn;t had said that.. Unable to take the pressure that had been placed on him from Adian's words, he stood. "I'm getting soemthing to drink." He said harshly and walked away.
"I'm sorry for hi.. us.." Erik said softly. "We talked a bit and.. our dimensions were practically the same until that day.. I an a few months it'll have been 5 years and.. well.. I know its no excuse, but.. if you could please not bring it up.. like.. we never told you.." He whispered, askign him softly.. "for now It's easier that way.."
And he forced a small smiled, pushing his glasses up and looked at Adian.. "I.. I guess Scruffy could watch the kids.." He said, obviously trying to change the subject..
Berial smiled.. "I'll be his friend then.." He said smiling, determined to go up to him and cheer him up once they went inside. "That way none of us will be sad.. We could all be friends, right?" Flamefire123 Adain shrugged, "I didn't bring anything up. Anyway, I got a baby sitter who doesn't swear" he mentioned and glanced back at Scruffy before he leaned closer "And I think he makes Reiha think of depression. I don't want to put her under his care till he's happier" Adian explained, being serious for once. He was always serious when it came to family. "No offense or anything, but the way she was talking before...well I just think he brings it out in her. If you want Berial can stay wtih Reiha and Scruffy can have a night to himself or he can just watch Berial, all up to you but I got a babysitter for Reiha" Adian was sure about that, he didn't want Reiha alone with Scruffy, not because he thought he'd do anything to her but because he might remind her of something someone else did.
"That's good, no one can be sad when you're their friend" Reiha said encouraged. "You're just to much fun" And the thing was that he meant it. Berial's kind sweet soul was something that brought REiha lots of happiness. Why shouldn't it work on other Erik? Jizzy Jazz Erik nodded in understanding. Reiha had reacted a bit badly to Scruffy's precense.. Scruffy was jsut sort of somber that way. He wasn;t sure he wanted Scruffy alone in the house though, especially not anywhere near his lab, not yet, so if he did go out, the safest thing would be to leave Berial with Scruffy and vice-versa.
"Will the.." He seemed to have trouble saying it. "date, be casual or formal?" He asked.. He'd never been on a date before. He'd never had time for dating.
Berial smiled at the compliments, playing around with the grass. "You're lots of fun too.. Will you be Scruffy's friend too?" He asked, smiling up at her. Flamefire123 "Hmm? Oh a little formal, nothing suit worthy but wear slacks and a nice shirt" he told him, "When you date a teen it's better to go as glitzy as possible. Especially since you're one your own and suporting yourself so you have that whole rule breaker thing going for you. But you're smart and got that sweet innocent act going to" Adian nodded, "I've learned that really there are lot better things in the dating world than looks" He grined and leaned back again, "After all I'm popular for a reason" Adian was not traditionally good looking, he looked goofy and was too talll, to thin and despite his physical job didn't look musclar at all. Oh no Adian had to reley on other skills.
Now Reiha shrugged, "I dunno. He might not like me. 'Cause depressed people don't like having people tell them to just 'get over it'" Like Adian did. "And I tend to say stuff sort of like that. I dunno. I think I was sad like him once, something looks familiar in his eyes and...well I dunno Berial. I'll try to be friendly" she promised smiling at him.

Someone's Gonna Get b***h Slapped!
Growth Quest-Part 1Users: Flamefire123, Jizzy Jazz Characters: Reiha, Adian, Berial, Erik, Scruffy Setting: Berial's house Link: Someone's Gonna Get b***h Slapped!Flamefire123 "Geez Reiha, I can't believe you actually scared a baby sitter off." Adian groaned as he looked into the review mirror that framed the pounting little girl stroking her crow like some sort of messed up bond woman. He sighed and knew he'd never get that teen to set foot in his house again. He'd be lucky if he didn't get sued by her parents. She wouldn't even take her pay, she just ran.
Adian geussed he just wasn't destined to get lucky tonight. He glanced over to the front seat where Erik sat, still picking noodles from his hair. Adian couldn't even completely remember how or why they were both covered in spegehtii but he did know that this whole, getting Erik laid plan was going to take alot of retooling.
"It wasn't my fault. She basically attacked Korbin. He was merely defending himself and I was trying to keep him off of her!" Reiha argued, holding the bird to her tightly. Adian was going to just drop Eric off but since he had to come and pick her she got to see Berial again, so she really wasn't that unhappy, and if she kinda of prevoked the baby sitter into attacking Korbin well...there was no proof of that, now was there?
Adian sighed a pressed a hand to his forehead before he pulled into Erik's drive way. "If I get a gray hair I swear I'll eat that damn bird." Adian grumbled as he got out of the car. He knew Reiha would wnat to go in and he honestly didn't see a point in stoping her right now. She'd only make her life miserable later.
Reiha didn't really heard what Adian said as she climbed out, rushing up to the door. She paused a little bit before the door, just staring at it, then shook her head. She felt worried all of the sudden. Berial was upset easily and he was alone with a man who clearly cared only for himself.
But she was there and she was his very best friend. Everything would be okay.
Right? Jizzy Jazz Erik remained silent on the ride back, picking the noodles out of his hair. He remembered exactly when the evening had taken a wrong turn, and he remembered it vividly.
The night ahd been going on well enough. Adian's precense made him, less quiet than he was, and he ahd been able to maintain a semi-normal conversation with his date. She asked what he did and he started explaining. She seemed interested, so he went into more depth. In his fervor though, he knocked over his glass of water.
Luckily for him (not), a waiter was passing by just then and slipped on the water, sending him caarrening back and the various plates of spaggetti flying into the air.
Wat came after was obvious and made Erik want to dig his hands into his head in shame.
As they pulled up to the house, he hoped Scruffy wouldn't ask to many questions about why there was still sauce in his hair. Coming to the door, he opened it. "Berial! Scruffy! I'm back." He said.
Scruffy took his time in apprearing, blinking and rubbing at his eyes, his sungalsses perched on his head. "You're early.. Take it things didn't go well."
Erik flushed. "Doens;t matter.. How were things here?" Scruffy shrugged. "Fine. The kid was quiet the whole time."
Erik nodded turning about. "Berial!" He called again, but recieved no response. Turning he glanced at Scruffy. 'Where is he anyways?" Scruffy shrugged and somethign akin to panic filled Erik.
"YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE HE IS!" Flamefire123 Reiha slipped into the house first chance she got. She ignored Scruffy, as he would be called from now on, and Erik, even Adian. She headed straight to Berial's room, because she assume since he wasn't showing up he must be in there. When she reached the door though it was locked. She blinked once, then twisted the knob.
"Berial?" she called out to the door, "Berial, it's me Reiha. Berial?" her voice sounded more and more worried. She turned quickly, to glare at the unfeeling young man who looked so much like Berial's father.
"What did you do to him!?" she demanded.
Adian felt a little confused as he steped in, and since he didn't have a close intimate realtionship with Berial he wasn't all that worried. Reiha locked herself into her room all the time. It was almost habit by now but since Berial was such a...soft kid this might be different. He yawned once and ambled over to the couch. He figured he better just stay out of this one. No point in putting his nose in where it doesn't belong, as long as Reiha toes the line a little. Jizzy Jazz Scruffy's eyes went a bit wide at the accusations. "I didn't DO anything. I just told him I didn't want to play.." He said. Erik shot him a glare and moved to the door, knocking.
"Berial?" He ventured, but no sound came. He knocked again. "Berial?!"
"Go away.."
The small voice came from insdie the room, with such.. anger that Erik almsot reeled. He hadn't shouted, but the fury in the child voice ahd been almsot palpable. Erik's eyes flew to Scruffy. "What EXACTLY did you do?!"
"Nothing! He asked me if I wanted to color and stuff and I told him no.. Then he got all preachy about me being happy, and I just said I didn't need him. I don't need anyone, esepcially not a kid.." He said, sounding slightly miffed.
Erik on the other hand was furious.. It took him a moment before the words that had been written on the back of his ticket floated back to him. "You idiot.." Erik said in a hiss, shooting him a glare and going back to the door, knocking again. "Berial! Let us in!" He asked. He'd deal with Scruffy later. Flamefire123 Reiha had a different plan. She heard an anger in Berial's voice, she never heard him angry before. Distressed, worried, happy, sad, spacy and nutrual yes, but not actually angry. And that man made him angry, it wasn't right.
"You idiot!" she yelled out, walked over to him, "Do you have a single working brain cell? Or did you sell them for a cheap high?" Her tiny hands fisted as her entire body shook. This man made her remember feelings she didn't understand. The feeling of dirt that never washed off, the feeling of a chill that never truly left, the feeling of hate, deep down hate, of the world, yourself and anyone who dared to smile. And she wouldn't let those feelings touch Berial, he deserved better than that.
"He's a good kind soul and you spit in his face! He's a child! He needs someone to need him, otherwise why is he here? Can't you see that? Can't you see that all he wants is to make you smile? He isn't being preachy, he's being honest." Jizzy Jazz Scruffy was gaping at Reiha for a moment. "I.." Erik cut him off though. "Just.. just don't say anything else.. You've done enough damage." He said, turning back to the door, knocking again. "Please Berial.." He pleaded.
Scruffy jsut loked confused. "but what's the big deal.. I didn't even shout.." An angry Erik left the door and turned on him. "You don't understand. Berial isn't a normal kid. And now you saying that.. a normal kid might have been a bit upset sure, but this means more to Berial than it would to a normal kid."
Erik knocked again, before looking down at Reiha. "Reiha.. could you.. try.. I.." He was scared.. What was going on? Why wouldn't Berial let them in?
"I'm going to see if I can find the keys to the door." He said softly, a tad deafeated. He didn't want to have to force his way in, but he saw little other choice. Levaing the doors side, he grabbed Scruffy harshly by the collar, dragging him along with him. He didn;t want Scruffy near the kids. Flamefire123 Reiha continued to glare at Scruffy till he was dragged away, then turned to answer Erik's half defeated beg for help. She took a few deep breaths, showing a control over her emtions that Adian never seen before, and then approached the door, knocking once to alert Berial to her presence.
"Please open up Berial. Who cares about Scruffy? He's nobody, that's why he's sad. I'm sorry, I should have mentioned he might not want help but you got to try anyway. He does need to Berial, he just doesn't know it and even if he didn't it wouldn't matter. Becuase more people need you Berial, people who love you and care for you. Erik needs you, his entire life is just for you. You give him reason to be stronger and louder and less scared. And I need you too. You make me smile and feel happy and warm, and I'm not use to that. Please Berial, open up. We need you out here, and we don't want to be with out you, not anymore." Reiha said quietly, knocking again. "Please Berial, please?"
Adian watched the proud little girl holding the proud little bird beg. He never heard her do anything close to begging before and now, she was. Adian rose from the couch and took a few steps. Wanting...wishing he could do something, he had some control over this desire. Adian wanted to make her smile.
But he couldn't do it. Jizzy Jazz For a moment there was silence before there were the sound of small footsteps that stopped as they appraoched the door.
"Please..go..away.." His voice said again. The anger gone, replaced with oemthing likened to fear.. It was more like Berial than the previous words he had spoken.
Erik returned quickly, Scruffy looking a shamed and close in toe. Ruffling througha ring of keys he saw that Reiha had not been able to get the door open and moved to it. "I'm coming in, Berial.."
"NO!" It was likened to a shriek and the fottsteps rushed away from the door.
Erik's eyes widened but he suck the ky in unlocking the door and opening it.. Inside the room, it was entirely dark. All of his nightlights (which Berial ussuall never turned off) were estinguished. The shades were drawn. Erik felt a shiver as he took a step into the room, his eyes unable to se in the dark, no matter how he tried.
"Berial?" He asked sloly, his hand reaching for the lightswitch, but he clicked it on and off and quickly realized.. It wasn't working. Flamefire123 Reiha was torn between her desire to listen to Berial and the desire to help him. When the door was pulled open to revel a dark room she made a descision, rushing forward, and ignoring the light she seeked out her best friend.
"Berial? You don't have to be scared." she called out, looking around. Her emerald eyes adjusting easily to the dark. She moved though the room with little care, needing to find her best friend. She glanced under the bed and in the closet, seeking him.
"Tell us what's wrong?"
Adian watched them with a small sigh, feeling a sudden urge for a beer. Something to take this harsh edge off. he wasn't built for this, hard feelings, hard days, bad dates. He liked to laugh, when his life become so unfunny? Adian turned away from the door, there was nothing he could do in there. He wasn't good for this kind of stuff, he didn't know the kid, not really.
He couldn't help Reiha. No matter how much he wanted too, no matter how much he yearned too, he couldn't help. He...wasn't needed. Jizzy Jazz Reiha had made a good guess of searching in the closet and Berial was sitting there, his legs pulled up close to him. "Go away.." He said again, sounding terrified.
In the dark it was hard to see, but his mark's were writhing, twisting and pulsing. He raised his slightly, his face obscured by his hair, but the runic mark o his forehead let out a soft red glow which highlighted the fear and the anger that was swirling in the small boys eyes as he gripped his knees tighter. "Please go away..." He pleaded..
Erik could hear what was going on, and he could see the vague glint of red, but other than that, he was walking blind into the room. His heart shattered to hear Berial talk that wy and he opened his mouth to speak, but tripped over the bed and fell hard onto the floor. Flamefire123 "No." Reiha whispered as she slinked into the cloeset and wraped her arms around him. She wouldn't leave him. Flashes of memories, scared and alone in a dark space, rotting...rotting...She clung to him tighter. He wont feel that, she refused to let him feel alone. He had people, people who loved him and she would remind him of that.
"I wont leave you Berial, ever." she swore, holding him tighter, "I don't care what's happening. I'm your best friend, and best friends stay. People love you. Please don't ever forgect that, please. Erik needs you. I need you. Don't worry about the people who don't need you, worry about the ones who do." Jizzy Jazz Berial tried to pull away. He was scared and angry.. He was feelignt his swirl of emotions and he didn't know where it was coming from.. Once he'd seen the marks on his arm, he had been frightened, but the desires that had followed. The anger, the need to hurt.. It had terrified him so much he had shut off the ligths and locked hismelf in his room..
"I'm scared.." He whispered as Reiha pulel him tighter to him. His grip tightened around his legs. "I want to hurt someone.." He said, but his voice clearly said he did not want to hurt anyone.. " m' scared, Reiha.." Flamefire123 "It's okay to be scared." she whispered, holding him closer. She refused to let go, even when he tried to tug away from her. "Sometimes...sometimes parts of you want something the rest of you don't want." she told him.
"the point is to know what you truely want. Hold on to me Berial, hold on till you don't wnat to hurt anyone anymore." she murrmered, "I promise you it will go away. This isn't you." Jizzy Jazz Tears started running down his cheeks as he let go of his legs relucatnly, and looked up at Reiha before practically lunging into her arms, gripping her tightly. He didn't want to hurt anyone.. Clingin to her, he cried on her shoulder sobbing slightly.
Erik blinked a few times, opening hsi eyes to the darkness. The fall had knocked him out a for a moment and he sat up, hearing the soft sobs of Berial. The light from the door allowed him tosee the faint sillohoutes of Reiha and Berial there ande remained silent, for now.. He didn;t want to do anything to upset him. Flamefire123 She held him tighter, letting him cry as part of her heart stopped worring. He was holding on to her again. He knew he wasnt alone. She helped him. She didn't know what was up with the marks and the glowing but right now she didn't care. Let Erik wonder about the details, all she cared about was if he was okay.
Reiha stroked his tattooed arm, trying to sooth the mark as she just let him cry. She would never tell him to hold back. he deserved to cry. Jizzy Jazz He was fine, well, as fine as he could be while crying, until she touched the mark. He noticable winced and pulled away, grabbing at him arm. "no.." He said softly.. It had physically hurt, and not ust his arm.. He felt.. He had felt aweful..
Erik had started the slow crawl towards the closet, careful to feel in front of him since he couldn't very well look at where he was going. "Berial?" He ventured a his hand burshed agaisnt what he assumed was the clsoet door (and he would have been correct).
Berial flinched again, clutching the mark. "it hurts.. it hurts.." He said softly. The mark was hurting him so much.. He wasn't sure what to do.. Flamefire123 "I'm sorry." Reiha said quickly, and moved around to hug him again, this time avoiding his arm. She turned to look at Erik as he moved closer.
"Can you make his arm better?" she asked him worried, her arms wraping around him tightly. she hated Scruffy right now, for doing this to Berial, for making him go though this. He didn't deserve this. he didn't. Jizzy Jazz Berial was wimpering slightly as he shurgged. "I.. maybe out in the light.." He whispered. He couldnt see a thing here and therefoe, couldn't help.
Berial shook his head. He didn't want to go out into the light. Why, he couldn't fathom, all he kenw was that he didn;t want to. Flamefire123 "It will be okay." Reiha promised, leaning her head agianst his shoulder, "We'll make it okay. Take deep breaths and concentrate on my voice. The pain wont seem so bad." she promised him. Jizzy Jazz Berial whimpered but nodded. Reiha would keep him safe. He knew it.. She wouldn't hurt him, and she was tough, so she wouldn't let him hurt her either.. Pulling away from her he got up heitantly, peeking out from the closet. Erik had managed to crawl his way back and was sitting in the doorway..
"Beriall.. I.. It'll be ok.." He said gently, trying to prompt the child towards him. It worked and soon Berial had rushed and tackled him down. He felt Berial in his arms, crying again and he rubbed his back. "Shhe.. jsut calm down.. It'll be ok.." Flamefire123 Reiha watched as Berial slowly make his way to Erik and she felt a little better than too. She knew Berial needed Erik too. She stood up and followed, watching the pair. They cared so much for each other Erik...was violent to Scruffy. She didn't know Erik could get violent.
Did Adian feel that way about her? Jizzy Jazz The mark began to subside as Erik continually rubbed Berial's back, speaking soothing words.. Berial clung to his guardian tightly until the glow of his rune ceased and his mark started to calm. He sniffled slightly before looking up at Erik.. " m'sorry.." He said simply..
Erik gaped at the boy for a moment before pulling him closer. "you have nothing to be sorry for.. It's okay to be scared.. Just.. just know we're here for you.." He said, trying hard to be as supportive as he could be. He was still a bit shocked this was happening at all.
Berial eyes turned to Reiha, his cheeks tear-ridden.. " m'sorry, Reiha.." He said again.. Flamefire123 Reiha looked at him, and then smiled as she moved forward, to hug him tightly, "Why?" she asked softly, "I got to be here for you. Like a true friend. I got to prove to you that I'll always be here." She hugged him tight.
"You can trust me Berial. I'll always be here when you need me, and that's a promise. I never break a promise." she smiled at the boy who charmed promise after promise from her. Jizzy Jazz Berial sniffed holding both his guardian and his best firend close to him. The blight had settled and his blue eyes looked up at Scruffy, who had been leaning up against the wall, guilt written across his features..
" m'sorry, Scruffy.. for buggign you.."
Erik stiffened and held Berial tighter.. "it wasn;t you fault, Berial.." He said. He was still angry at Scruffy. He had trusted him, and it had been provn misplaced. He felt off footed, not being able to trust.. well. himself.
Scruffy looked shocked, before looking away again.. "uh.. Erik;s right, kid.. wasn't your fault.. sorry.." He mumbled. He obviously wasn;t much for words.. Flamefire123 "Berial, you don't have to apologize for having feelings." Reiha tried to tell him. She glared at Scruffy too, glad that he at least look miserable. She sighed and hugged him tighter. She would need to have a real talk with Scruffy. She knew, somehow, how he felt but that didn't give him a right to be an idiot.
And at least he knew it now. He realized he made a mistake. Reiha glanced at Erik, and saw the look in his face. For a moment she reached over to stroke his arm, to reasure him too. Things got complicated for the quiet boy, but she had a feeling he wouldn't change anything.
Adian hovered near the door, listening in, but not watching. He sighed once and wondered. How did Reiha get so adult? She was a little girl, how did she managed to grow up? How did she knew how Scruffy felt? She lived for five years tops, and yet...she had a life time hiding behind her eyes. Why? Jizzy Jazz Berial finally puleld away slightly from them both and wiped at his face.. "I.." He seemed ashamd at what he wanted to say.. "I'm hungry.." He said softly..
Erik couldn't help but smile. This was soemthing normal. He'd jsut had a long night, and Scruffy had not made dinner. Of course he was hungry. Getting up, he smiled at the boy. "I'll see what I can fix up then.. Do you want to come with me Berial?" The boy nodded and Erik looked down at Reiha, then at Adian. "I can;t pormise much, but you're welcome to stay for dinner.." He said.. Esepcially sicne hi and Adian's dinner ahd been ruined as well. Flamefire123 "We'd love to." Adian spoke up. He kenw Reiha would like to stay for a little while, watch Berial, in fact if it wasn't for the fact that Scruffy and Reiha seemed like a bad mix he'd proably ask of Erik would mind watching her for the night. He was sure that Berial would enjoy the company, but Adian didn't like the way Reiha acted when she was with Scruffy. She acted...old, and it wasn't natural.
"Reiha, you'd like to stay right?" Adian learned quickly that Reiha liked to be asked, no matter what.
Reiha nodded once and turned to find Korbin rosting near by. he fluttered off after Reiha entered the room. He knew she'd be busy, but now he fluttered back to land on her shoulder. He nuzzled her lovingly and she reached up to hug him back. Then turned to look at Scruffy again.
"I'd like to talk to you." Jizzy Jazz Erik glanced at Reiha and he was rather sure that he didn't want Berial around for whateevr earfull she was going to give Scruffy. So he jsut put on a soft smiled. "Come on, Berial. You can help me in the kitchen.." He said softly, tking his unblighted hand.
Berial smiled weakly and nodded, toddling of clutching Erik's hand before looking back at Reiha and smiling. "I'll make you something yummy.." He said, before going into the kitchen."
Scruffy only leaned against the wall in silence. He didn't quite feel like being lectured bya kid, esepcially after the shouting Erik had given him, but he said nothing. Reiha was one of those train kids too and a quick glance at Adian and he shuddered.. Erik would shout at him for upsetting Berial, but Scurffy was afraid Adian might go a bit further if Reiha was concerned. Flamefire123 "thanks Berial, I look forward to it." Reiha told him honestly, and smiled at him. She waited till he left before she turned back to Scruffy. "I stand by what I said before. You're stupid." she groweled, "You may be use to being all alone back on Earth but you're not alone anymore. Though you might be if you continue to be so stupid. You had two people willing to care for you, one who understood and one who could forgive all your flaws. And you just spat in their faces." Reiha turned away from the man, eyes closing as her body trembled.
"People don't get to do that often."
Adian didn't move from the room. He watched now, worried what might happen. And he almost smirked at the lecture Reiha was giving. She was acting old again, but this time it wasn't scary it was humours. Or at least it was till she started to tremble. Then he moved forward, worried for the girl.
"Reiha..." he whispered, leaning close but Korbin let out a cry and scratched at him, anoying the man. Jizzy Jazz Scruffy looked down, pulling off his glasses for a moment he cleaned them on his shirt, shame swirling in his eyes. " m' not used to having people care. It's a dog-eat-dog world back where I lived.. It's not safe to trust, or to care.." He said, reapplying his glases. "It's no excuse, but m' not used to it here."
He turned his gaze to the young girl.. She understood him better than anyone could. Even Erik, and it shocked him. "and I have a feeling you're not used to it either.." Flamefire123 Reiha turned to look at scruffy and nodded, "I know." she agreed simply, "But that doesn't mean you have to take it out on Berial. He only wants to help you. He...is so pure. He just wants to be your friend." Reiha said softly ad glanced at him. "And you will need him."
"Reiha." Adian said again, watching the little as he looked between the pair. He wasn't sure he liked this connection the two had. It made...Reiha act like she knew his life. No little girl should know Scruffy's life.
"I'm okay Adian." Reiha said slowly, "It's alright. I have Berial, and Korbin, I'm not alone."
"you have me too Reiha," Adian said softly, "I'm here too. You're not alone, you have a family bigger than just Korbin. We're family." Jizzy Jazz Scruffy's eyes went to Adian for a moment before going to Reiha and nodding. Moving slightly towards Reiha he looked down at the kid. "Alright.. I'll loosen up, but you should too.." He said.
"You're what.. 5? You shouldn't know this sort of stuff. Act like a kid, will you?" He said, and while his tone and words might have beena bit on the rude side, his intentions were good enough. "It's kinda creepy, having a 5 year old lecture you anyways.." He said, starting to walk towards the kitchen. Flamefire123 Reiha raised an eyebrow, then stuck her tounge out at Scruffy's back, "I'll act how ever I want to." she muttered to herself as she held Korbin close to her. She may not act like a normal kid but big deal. Korbin liked her like this, Berial liked her like this. her eyes looked up at Adian, then away as she walked out of the room too.
Adian might like her like this.

Fighting a Dream, Battleing a Ghost.
Growth Quest-Part TwoThe smell attacked her senses first. It was one she could never hide from. No matter how many shower she took, how many quaters she fed the washing machine it clung to her, a consent reminder of her real life, her real worth. Even now, in the depths of memories the smell reminded her, clung to her, and mocked her. She may have escaped to Gaia. She may be living in a new house, with a new father, and new friends but she wasn't any better, and she would never be able to truly leave. The smell still clung, only now it was in her mind.
The small girl shifted in the large bed, pulling the covers up tight. Though traped in the relems of sleep her body still yearned. It trembeled beneath the warm covers as her left hand pulled the covers tightly to her body. Her right hand holding the pillow close to her head, a comfort, even as it hung out in the wair. Her hand was bruning, in the way that only shadows can burn. A nightmare lurked, ready to feast.
A man raged in the tiny room. Everything seem smalled compared to the man. The room, the furniture, the girl. Even at the infant age of four she knew, understood, that the man didn't hate her, didn't beat her, he hated life, beat life. It was just her misfortune to be around to repersent life. Someone to repersent the life he lost. Someone who felt pain, unlike the wall, or the furniture. Someone who would scream out, beg, just like he wanted to. Someone who would know his pain.
She was no body but a subsitute. The man couldn't even drum up enough emtions to hate his own daughter. Instead he raged, hands fisting as he striked out at anything near. Blinded by his alochol fuled rage, he didn't notice the girl was there till the first blow. Then he found he liked it. He pumped the girl, for being there when her mother left. For staying with him when everyone else deserted him. He beat her.
Because he couldn't cry.
"STOP!" Reiha screamed suddenly as she threw herself forward, right hand up to deflect another blow, her body throbing in remembered pain. Reiha panted hard before taking one deep breath though her nose. to reasure herself that she couldn't smell it, smell him. Her body trembled, with fear, with pain, and before she could pull herself from the brink, she started to cry.
Adian yawned as he walked up the stairs slowly. He just spent a few hours dealing with the check book. He wasn't that bad at math but it was hard when the money he had didn't wasn't greater than or equal too the money owed. In fact it was considerably less. He'd need to work some more shifts if he wanted to keep on paying for baby sitters while he was at work. Adian wished Reiha wasn't so anti sodial, then he could just put her in day care.
"I wonder if Erik would take her for free." Adian mummbled out loud, always prefering to talk to himself if alone (or no one could hear), "Meh, then I'd have to deal with Scruffy, maybe not a good idea. ******** this, why does a kid have to be so damn expensive?" he griped, wanting to feel sorry for himself.
Then he heard a soft sob from Reiha's room. He paused, and turned to the door. He couldn't have heard that right. Reiha never cried, not since they met had he seen her cry. Hell she had the crap kicked out of her and she didn't cry.
The tall man moved forward, pressing his ear to the door and listening. Then he heard it again, the sob of a small girl. His hand rushed to the door knob and he pulled it open.
The first thing he noticed what that Reiha was alone. The open window explained where Korbin had gone, Adian knew he prefered to feed at night when Reiha was sleeping. How was he to know she'd have a nightmare?
"Reiha?"
She jerked once and looked up at Adian, unable to hide her tears, or her shaking or the obvious look of terror in her face, and at this moment she really didn't have the energy to try. Korbin was gone, and Berial was too far away to help. She...needed someone, anyone. she didn't want to be alone with her memories. She wanted them to go away again.
"Adian?" she whispered, eyes just looking at him. But why was he here? Why wasn't he in bed? Even she noticed how tired he was, but...he was here.
He moved instantly. That look on her face...it just killed him. Reiha was strong, and determained, anoying and stobourn. She was not...someone who looked at him with fear and sorrow in her eyes. By the time she whispered his name he sat on the bed and just pulled her close to him. He had big hands too, but they weren't fisted, they weren't hard, they weren't mean. They just held her close, and tight.
"It's okay Reiha." Adian murrmed, pulling her close, "It will be okay. Did you have a bad dream?"
"I...yeah...He was there." Reiha murrmed. The embrace surpised her, not the actual action itself but her reaction to it. It didn't anger her, scare her or make her feel uncomfortable. She just, liked it. She even moved a little closer, letting her head rest as her eyes closed. The tears continued to leak as she was held. "He hit me."
"Who?" Adian whispered, struggling to keep hsi voice calm and arms gentle. He suspected abuse, was almost sure of it, but it was a lot idfferent to suspect it and to hear the indepedent fiend Reiha whisper it in that fear drenched, defeated tone. Reiha fought everything...but that man.
Reiha just shook her head though, pillowing her face into his chest. She wasn't being difficult, she just didn't know. Already the dream, the images were fading. All she could remember was the pain, the fear, and the smell. She could brely remmeber the man itself, just his hands, those huge, dark, painful hands.
Don't touch me! Don't touch me!
He could feel her trembling increase and Adian made a quick descsion, he sliped off his socks and pulled back the covers before climbing into the bed, still holding Reiha. Maybe she was too old for this kind of comfort or something but as far as adain was concerned Reiha was too old for her age.
"It's okay Reiha. Look, I'm right here." Adian murrmed, holding her close as he laid her down. "I wont let anyone hurt you. Understand? I love you."
Reiha didn't answer, she just laid in his arms, shaking. She shook till Korbin returned to find the sleeping red head holding Reiha protectivly still. She shook till the sun rose, when, finally, she managed to drift off to a light, but dreamless, sleep.
