The prince watched in stunned silence as Declan broke off the lock. He knew he should've felt a slight affront, but was amused instead. In fact, he was almost pleased with knowing that Declan had wasted precious time just to spend it with him. He smiled as Declan kissed him once again, one hand raising to touch his cheek as he lost his ability to know up from down in the deep, passionate kiss. He bit his lower lip when Declan pulled away, cheeks ruddy from the kiss, and from the second one to his forehead. "Until then." Remy watched the pirate disappear from his room and probably the castle soon after, the door shutting tightly behind him and leaving him all alone once again. He looked over to the bed. He wasn't likely to sleep much tonight, not after all that had happened.

Feeling the ring in his hand, Remy raised his hand and opened it to look at the object. The silver shone in the sparse candlelight that was already fading. He turned it slowly and couldn't help the smile that came to his face. He slid the ring onto his middle finger of his right hand and let out the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. Maybe this was the last time they'd meet for a while, but this ring led him to believe that they'd see each other again. He spun a little, a rare rush of giddiness making him giggle to himself. He moved towards the bed and flopped back on it, holding up the hand with the ring, then drew his hand to his chest and smiled happily again. This was one night that he would never forget as long as he lived.

Serenade stood after hearing the princesses invitation to some tea, her armor clicking lightly as she rose. "It would be an honor to join you for some tea my lady." She said then realized her helmet was on. "Forgive me I am so used to my armor I some times forget it is on." She joked as she took the heavy helmet off and clipped it to her side. "I may only have a few moments as I sent my second to continue with the guards perpetration for the event and to assign a group to look into the incident." She sighed knowing who her second would send to investigate and felt bad they would be interacting with the inquisitor.

The knight walked over to a beautifully crafted table which had the princess tea set aside. She pulled out the chair for Autumn. "All this work for a ball and peace. Has my knights distracted from their training. I can only imagine how its' affecting the rest of the royals." She said trying to make small talk and air out her concerns about the whole situation.

Autumn was quiet as she moved to the table, pouring water into the kettle. It was kept warm by a trick the elves had taught her and she was glad for that. As her tea brewed she listened to Serenade speak about the impending event. She thought about it, the fact that she would be going with her family. She looked at Serenade as she stated that her men were distracted. Smiling softly, Autumn looked up at Serenade. "I do grow curious Serenade, what exactly do your knights do for training? It s not often a fight is faced here or that someone tries to attack us within the Kingdom." she explained, though her mind strayed to the problematic poisoning she had endured hours before. She'd not had trouble with illnesses in months, actually feeling as good as she could.

With the tea brewed, Autumn sat down and poured the tea into the two cups. She looked at Serenade and motioned for her to sit as well, smiling as she let her sit. "I trust you'll be joining us in the journey? That'll prove nice" she explained, "Though I don't want to ride in a carriage the entire time. Though my parents will insist it" she continued, taking a drink of the hot liquid, leaning back as she thought about the boredom she would endure on the ride.

Serenade smiled at her curiosity towards how she trains the knights. "Oh a while back my father and some of his fellow knights put the gold into building me a magical training room, since then I have paid to expand it to the point that its a dungeon filled with golems of many different makes." She explained as the tea brewed. "I have the knights enter in groups and compete with others to see who can complete the rooms quicker. Honestly it seems with men if something they want isn't being held as a prize they have no motivation now you put some competition and a few almost life taking situations and this mix and the adrenaline makes them fight harder. Or I just let them try and beat me." She continued with a small amount of pride as the princess sat down. "As for having only rare troubles here in the kingdom that is due to no one usually being dumb or mad enough to do such villainy, that does not mean the same thing for the bordering villages, woods, or roads, all of those areas are still under our protection and so knights have to patrol them or be ready to go to those types of areas and see what the trouble is."

"As for the journey I along with a few of my more skilled knights will be joining the royal family along with other political people." Serenade answered but showed obvious signs on disliking some of the politicians of the different holds with in the kingdom. She didn't trust a few of them and thought they used words to sneak their way into power and make way with others gold. "Honestly my lady your parents would only be seeking to keep you safe, but if you would rather ride a horse then a carriage then I can lend you my fastest colt. He will get you there safely and if I do say so myself with style. " She commented on Autumns desire to not be stuck in a carriage.

Autumn listened to Serenade as she spoke, explaining to Autumn how she trained the knights. Autumn had never seen magic up close. It made her curious as she looked at Serenade, curious as to how magic worked. She was quiet as she took a drink of her tea, smiling as Serenade continued on, Autumn looking up as she explained how their presence ensured nobody acted out of place. That Autumn could understand. It was not often that they saw anyone in the Kingdom with ill intentions toward the royals, especially someone who was from the Kingdom itself.

Her attention on her tea again, she took another drink as Serenade went on to explain how they would be travelling to Muriel. When Serenade offered her own horse, Autumn shook her head gently. "I have a horse. A Mare named Bristle." she explained, "She's the daughter of my parents horses." she continued before taking the last drink of the tea. "If I were to be able to ride on her instead of in the carriage, it may not be as boring as before. She leaned back and sighed softly.

"When All Else Fails..."
_____________________________________________________________

Entioch stretched out his body, feeling the freedom of movement from his travelling pants and shirt. Nodding to himself in the mirror, and presenting a toothy smile to his Valet, He belted his blades. Aptly named tooth and claw, his swords were his pride and joy. Smithed by his own hand, A titanium iron alloy smelted and folded thousands of times. Set with precious jewels and inlaid with gold, His blades were as terrible as any other, and as beautiful as any ceremonial sword.

"Shall we?" He says formally, assuming his regal posture. He headed for the door of his bedchambers, grabbing his travelling cloak from its home on the rack next to the door where he left it. The door swung back quickly, and he stepped out. Outside his chambers were his King's guard. The Ball upcoming was out of country, and he wasn't impressed with the retinue he was forced to cut, but it would be leaps and bounds towards and era of peace unseen in generations, and he would just have to suck it up.

The guards jumped to attention as he passed, and he turned down the hall, his guard falling in to step all around him as he made his way through the halls. Servants and Maids bowed their heads as they passed, and children stopped their playing as the King of Estherel walked by. These were his people, and he knew that the ball was important. Whether it was a ploy to separate him from his nation or not, he would represent his people and their valour

Finally leaving the castle to the carriages that waited outside, He stepped to his carriage, where another of his Kings guard waited. Promptly after the door to the carriage was openned, he stepped inside, taking one last look behind him at the people that had gathered there to watch him leave. He flashed a smileand raised his hand in farewell to his people and his Kingdom. "Let us be off, Captain."

Seven Days.... Seven Days it had taken for them to get home from Muriel. Seven long days, daylight by horse, sleeping at dark. Seven days Autumn had spent on horseback and now that they were home, she had suffered for it. When they arrived, it was late into the night and all Autumn wanted to do was sleep. And that she did, lying in bed until sleep took over. As she waited, she thought about the weekend before they left, what all had gone on after the ball. They had spent the day after with their cousins, learning about Muriel until it was time to go. She enjoyed it, being in the sunshine and warmth of Muriel. When they left, King Soren had promised to come visit soon, so he could her mother could make mischief in the stiff kingdom of Estherel. It made Autumn smile then, thinking about her mother when she was her age. Sleep soon found her and within dreams, she dreamt of her family.

A few hours later as the sun began it's crawl into the sky, Autumn woke. She groaned as she sat up, pushing her light hair from her face. She stretched and stood from her bed. She went to the window and pushed the curtain open. The castle was quiet, much of the royal family still asleep. Autumn drew in a breath and looked at the ocean. It was angry though she couldn't blame it. A storm was brewing, one she wasn't sure she would like. Looking around she went to get dressed. Choosing a green dress and to braid her hair back, she drew in a breath before walking out from her room. She made her way down to the courtyard and looked around as she found a place to sit, watching servants around her as they worked and talked. She loved Muriel, being there. But she loved home more, the smell of the ocean over took everything and she'd missed it.

Leaning back to look at the sky, she began to think harder about what was to come. She would be forced into marriage soon. To find someone to build a family with that would give her Father a great deal of loyalty... She looked ahead as she thought about it. Loyalty? What good was that going to do... Standing, she looked around the courtyard once more. She watched a young horse hobble over to her and smiled as she knelt down to it. "You're the new life everyone spoke of?" she asked, "You are a sweet little one" She laughed as she straightened up and the animal ran around her. She spun with it, almost like a little kid again. "Alright" she said after a few moment. "Go back to your mother" she shooed the animal and watched as it ran back as the mare called for it. She let out a breath, a smile on her lips. It was nice to let loose. And she began to wonder how long her family would take to wake up.

Every day was the same for Rebekah, even after a long trip. She woke beside her snoring husband and took a bath, then dressed in whatever clothes he wanted her to wear, usually to match his own. Her hair was brushed and braided, her jewels carefully pinned and pressed into her hair, her ears, and putting a truly massive diamond around her neck. She walked with her husband to breakfast, then accompanied him to the throne room where she was to sit and sew quietly while he addressed the courtiers with the business of the day. It was often hours before she finally spoke, remaining silent through court, lunch, family time, all the way up until dinner. That was usually the first time all day that Rebekah opened her mouth, and it was only to utter a toast to her husband, who would then take her hand and guide her back to her seat. If she did well enough, he would smile and release her hand. If not, he would hold tight to it all night until they finally parted to relax separately, bruises on her slender fingers from his tight grip.

Her time alone passed too quickly too often and she would soon find herself in their shared bedchambers. She had her own rooms parallel to his, but he always insisted that they retire together. After her hair was taken down and returned to a simple french braid, she would change into her sleeping gown just in time for him to stumble in, either drunk, tired, or both. Either way, he usually insisted that she perform her wifely duty, all the while claiming that she should be joyful that he chose to take her to bed every night and not a mistress. Ah yes, how very kind of him. Once he was spent, she would finally have the time to rest and dream of sweet nothingness, the black void where she was free to feel nothing and remember nothing. In this void, she was not married. She was not a mother. She was not queen. She was nothing. Simply a part of the black void.

Until morning came and the cycle began anew.

This particular morning, Rebekah awoke feeling strangely energized. It was early, far earlier than usual, and she took the time to herself to take a short walk through the corridors. She wandered in silence, knowing that she'd need to return soon to prepare for the day, but it was nice to walk around the silent castle for once, to not be caught in the hustle and bustle of a busy day. Rebekah paused by the doors that led to her rooms, breathing slowly as she did. Someday, she'd sleep her days away in there. Soon, she hoped.

Rebekah returned to the royal bedchamber just in time for her husband to awake. He smiled lazily at her, commented on her performance the night before, then rolled back over as ladies in waiting walked into the room to whisk her away for her bath. She curtsied to him, bowing her head. "My Lord." Even she was impressed at how little her bitterness was heard. Rebekah went through the motions of her day until she was finally set free to her own devices, her husband taking longer than expected to emerge from bed. Rebekah instructed a maid to tell her husband where she would be, then started the long walk to the courtyard. Upon reaching outside, she closed her eyes and tilted her face upwards, feeling the warmth of the sun on her lovely face. "What bliss," she murmured, then lowered her head and opened her eyes to catch sight of her daughter. "God morning, my darling." She walked over, seeming as if to glide on air with her regal grace, and moved to sit on a nearby bench. Her dress gathered around her, a beautiful cloud of greys and greens, her jewels glittering in the morning sun. "I hope you slept well. I know the trip was hard on every member on horseback. If only your father weren't so pigheaded, you could all have been more comfortable in the carriages with me." Although it wouldn't have mattered. At that age, Rebekah had more often than not insisted on horseback at all times.

Autumn had been entertained, watching the small foal as it ran away, kicking the air, bugging it's mother and coming over to investigate the pale haired princess. Everytime it came over, Autumn smiled and scratched it on the nose or behind the ear. She had always loved animals, even as a young girl. She was petting the small horse when it's attention was drawn beside her. It spooked and back off for a minute before coming back to Autumn. She smiled more and watched as the mother whinnied. The little horse was hesitant to return, enjoying the attention but after a second call, it ran off to join it's mother. Autumn sat back and turned, watching her mother sit beside her. She smiled softly and looked ahead as the Queen commented on the fact that they had rode so hard. Autumn shook her head as she looked up at her. "I'm the one who asked to ride Mother. It was fun. I got to see things I do not normally here in Estherel. Or had I been stuck in the carriage reading or sewing. Plus, Cyneric taught me a few new things on horseback." she spoke softly as she looked at her mother.

Her gaze shifted back to where the small horse family had been before moving back to her mother. "What are you doing today Mother?" she asked, "I was thinking of enjoying the beach. I missed the ocean while we were away." It was true, she had longed for the sea water since they'd departed Muriel. With the kingdom landlocked and the ocean far away, all they saw was an ocean of sand. That was the part that irritated Autumn. She was raised near the sea, the smell of it something she welcomed. And when she couldn't, it made her rather nervous. Brushing a loose strand of hair back, Autumn looked up at her mother.

She looked away as her daughter replied about riding horseback, her eyes falling upon a young gardener who was tending to a bush. She sighed softly, watching the young man as he carefully trimmed the topiary and turned the flowers inside to better face the sun. She listened half-heartedly to Autumn, lost in her own thoughts that she rarely gave herself the time to dwell on. Rebekah pulled herself from her thoughts as her daughter questioned her, turning her head back to look at Autumn and smile softly. "Your father has plans for me today, I'm sure. You know how much he enjoys to keep me by his side." She raised a hand to her mouth as if to cover a giggle, but no laugh was heard. Her face remained its typical blank expression, eyes holding little life to them. Quite honestly, Rebekah was surprised she had lived this long, based on how little spark there was to her countenance. At least you couldn't tell there was anything wrong with her simply by looking at her.

"You could bring your brothers, dove. I know that they enjoy spending time with you." She glanced behind her at the entrance, as if checking to make sure Entioch hadn't yet appeared to pull her into another dreadful day, then looked back to her daughter and reached to gently touch Autumn's chin. "I heard that His Highness Prince Remiel has taken a liking to you. I suggest you cultivate your friendship with him and see where it takes you." She smiled softly, her hand moving to gently smooth back some of Autumn's hair. "My beautiful child. Maybe there is hope for your happiness yet."

"Cyneric has lessons today. Rowan is caring for Arioch who seems to be under the weather." she continued. She shook her head gently and looked at her mother as he touch found her. Autumn looked down a bit as her mother spoke about the Prince of Muriel. "Mother, he has six women to choose from. He and I agreed that we would be friends. Nothing more" she explained, "If he chose me. I do not believe anything would come from it." She looked up at her mother as she told her there may be hope for her own future. "How can I be happy Mother?" she stood and sighed softly. "I want to sail... to go on a boat trip. Not far. But enough to just spend time on the open sea. Do you think that would be okay?" she asked, hopeful her mother would allow her to do this. She knew she would not be missed by the King but she was sure this would be fun, and who knew, maybe she could get her brothers to join her? One or all... that would be fine!

She placed her hand over Autumn's, looking her directly in the eye. "It's better to be friends. Perhaps the love with come later, perhaps not, but at least you'll have someone with you who understands you. And as for sex, there's always other arrangements to be had. Murielese couples are fairly open if I recall correctly." She spoke plainly, yet looked away conspiratorially as she spoke of the possible goings-on of her daughter's wedding bed. She looked back to Autumn, smiling softly at her daughter. "Estherelians are not as... evolved." She patted Autumn's hand gently, then returned her own to her lap and leaned back a little. "At any rate, I doubt your father would ever allow you to run off onto the sea. Unlike the boys, your duty is to marry well and provide alliances. If there's a possibility of ruining yourself, your father would not allow it."

Rebekah sighed, hands laced on her lap, and her posture as perfect as always. Yet, in this light, she briefly looked every second of her age. "Entioch does not allow many things, Autumn. Husbands can occasionally be far more trouble than they're worth if you are naive." She sighed, then looked back to Autumn. "He will be looking for me soon. Would you like to accompany us to breakfast?" she asked.

Autumn listened to her mother as she spoke and kicked a pebble beneath her foot. Her mother used to be more fun, doing things without worry of the Kings approval. Autumn and Rebekah had gone on many excersions just the two of them when Autumn was a babe. They would horseback ride through the forest or have a picnic. She kept her gaze on the ground as she continued to speak. "What if I simply refuse to marry? The worst Father could do is disown me. or Kill me." she shook her head. "He's not the mad king though... more like the sad king for not allowing his family to enjoy what they do." she sat up a bit and looked at her mother. "There is only one possibility for a Princess like me and the Prince... he has other wants." she drew in a breath before her mother asked if she wanted to join them for breakfast. "I've already eaten" she explained as she stood. She drew in a breath before looking down and smiling. "I'm going to the beach myself." she explained, "I will be back soon." She hugged her mother gently and kissed her cheek. "Don't be too cross with him Mother, at least when he goes you will be Queen alone" she had whispered the words, letting go of her Mother and stepping away, smiling before she turned, walking away gracefully.

"There are worse fates than death, my child. You would do well to remember that." Rebekah gestured for a servant to approach, accepting a glass of wine from them. She sipped twice, not looking at her daughter as she thought to herself about her fate. She was trapped in a loveless marriage, although she tried very hard to hide it. Perhaps there had once been hope for the two, but that hope had long since died. She had no doubt that her husband did love her, in his way. He loved her like he loved a prize horse, a brilliant jewel, a lavish carriage. She was his possession and proof of his wealth and unbelievable luck. A beautiful trinket used to make other kings jealous. "Indeed, my love. There are worse things. Homosexual or not, as long as you and the prince have an understanding, you could find yourself happiness. Do your duty once a year to birth as many heirs as possible, then the rest of your life is yours." She sipped her wine once more.

She tilted her face upwards as Autumn leaned down to kiss her cheek, smiling softly. "Sooner than you think, my darling. We shall be free. All of us." She raised her hand to touch Autumn's cheek, then pulled her hand back and gestured to her daughter. "Enjoy your day, my love." She breathed in the clean air, hiding a wince as she heard her name called. F-ck. She polished off her wine, then stood and began to glide towards the source. Time to return to the land of the living.

My Letter of Introduction My Barely Functional Voice I'll Be Your 3rd Prince of Eltherel Today Have I Sucked Anyone Into The Abyss? None/Single

He was really not sure which part of the trip was worse: the one week journey into the unknown, the week in that inhospitable climate, or the one week trip back culminating the terrors of this tour. Never showing excessive weakness, he remained with his family for a goodly part of the rest of the day, even joining his babybig brother for a stroll through the garden. However as the day faded and they were summoned for supper, Ulric dismissed himself, saying the trip had absolutely exhausted him, and he still needed some time to reacclimatize his lungs to the salty sea air. ”But please, dear Flori, do go join them. I am probably just going to be reading in my room, no emergency you need to jump to, though…” he gave his beloved brother a wry little smile, ”if, perchance, you happened to get your hands on a little bit of bread for me, I certainly would not be one to deny admittance to my best nurse.” And with that he took his leave, bidding his retainer follow him (though frankly the retainer generally followed his master most anywhere unless instructed otherwise.) Though Ulric was not actively watching his brother as he ascended the steps, he was keeping an ear out to make sure the dear boy did not lurk in the hall or try to follow him. Half way up, Ulric stumbled and would have fallen, save his retainer could catch his master like a cobra catching its prey. Ulric thanked the man, but continued upwards on his own, well, until about three quarters of the way up, by that point he was stumbling with practically every step and he was none too sure of his step. Without a word, the retainer moved from behind to his master’s side, put the prince’s arm across his shoulders, then held the man tight to him. It was awkward, but it gave Ulric the stability he needed to counteract the lightheadedness which currently dimmed his senses. Finally achieving his quarters, Ulric directed his retainer to help him alight upon the bed and help him partially undress. His shirt and breeches would remain, as he expected Rowan to come visit at some point, but he could still be comfortable and decent enough at the same time. The retainer did not leave until his master was set up comfortably in bed and had whatever mysterious tome it was that he wanted, and of course, he only retired to his own quarters practically beside the prince once he had been dismissed.

Likely it had been little time indeed, but Ulric was already beginning to drift off here and there. He would inadvertently read the same sentence over and over, and lost track of a few minutes here and there. Still, he was determined to wait up…and just like that he was asleep, the book closed and resting upon his lap whilst his head had listed back into the pillow set up for him. It was not an ideal way to sleep, yet it was the position in which he now reposed.

Sunlight streamed in through the stained glass window, a million and one different hues of light dancing across the Prince’s pale skin. Like a morning glory, once he had absorbed a bit of the light, he began to stir awake. ”Poor Flori, I must have fallen asleep before he arrived…” He paused his sympathetic thoughts for a moment. ”I was sitting up last I recall, but now I find myself in a supine position?” He could only figure that Rowan must have come in last night, seen his little brother sleeping awkwardly, and tucked him in to bed. A moment later, another realization dawned upon him: he was not wearing the same clothes he had been when he fell asleep. ”That minx! Perhaps I should pay him back…” Well, whenever he saw him that was, but he was just waking up now, so of course there was always a fair chance that Rowan was in the room (or maybe even in the bed) with him, or waiting in a nearby room, or who knows what. It was hard to say what Nurse Flori might be up to at any given moment.
