Haven Sinclair

Haven rolled her eyes at Peter’s “oh wow.” It didn’t take a genius to figure out where he was about to go with that, but he somehow managed to cut himself off, so Haven didn’t have to glare him down. She tried not to blush at his obvious admiration, but she couldn’t stop her cheeks from going a little pink.

“Thanks,” she mumbled. She never was the best at accepting compliments. Or giving them, for that matter. So she didn’t try, forcing one of her usual indifferent expressions onto her face instead. “The season’s pretty much done for me, so I’ve got a little more free time.”

Unwilling to discuss her disappointing finish at Nationals, Haven cleared her throat and immediately changed the subject. “Do you know if any of your other friends are going to show up?” she asked, unsure if she could claim them as her friends, too, when she wasn’t around often enough to know them well. “Sorry I’ve been negligent. I know it’s been a while since I was around.”

Paris Gallo

“I don’t know that we’re dressed for anywhere else,” Paris said, showing Chris an indulgent smile.

Not that it mattered how they were dressed. They could show up to McDonald’s in their formalwear and still look fabulous instead of hopelessly out of place. After years of fancy events just like this among the Gallos, Paris was used to the finery. She could hold a conversation with snobby people, and walk through the crowd with her head held high, as if she belonged here all along. Sometimes, she relished the opportunity to put on a slinky evening gown and feel a bit like a princess as a civilian, too. It sure beat being the other kind of princess.

Paris took Chris’s hand into her own, lacing their fingers together as they joined the crowd near the bar. “No wine. I do not want to turn into a wine mom. I was thinking I’d get a whiskey sour.”

She glanced around the area for any other familiar faces that might be in attendance, but no one immediately stood out. The crowd was… not exactly what she’d come to expect from swanky parties, but she wasn’t entirely sure what the purpose of this one was anyway.

“How much do you wanna bet we’re in for an active night,” she mumbled into Chris’s ear. Even with her heels on, she had to lean up a bit to reach. For once, she didn’t sound too annoyed by the idea.

Gabriel Sūn

Xi-Wang seemed nervous. Gab wasn't sure if that had to do with the size of the event or something else. They might have warned him about events like this before coming, but he highly doubted something could happen to wreck their evening. He had to assume that most of the time an event like this was simply what was advertised. Or else the whole city would have given up on hosting anything, ever.

"A little bit of finger food does sound good." Surely they would have something yummy for their guests to enjoy. When his companion reached out for his jacket, a little blush crawled across his face. In the short time he had known Xi-Wang, he was still getting used to the affection. Why just hold onto his jacket though? They were at a party after all. He looped his arm around the others and pulled him toward the hors d'oeuvres being served.

"We should enjoy ourselves while things are going well at least." Gab wanted to show him a good time while he could. Try and get his mind off of all those crazy things that could, and hopefully wouldn't, happen.

Rhona Lee -- Right Outfit

Rhona Lee, who looked at that moment like she would be more suited for a music festival or a coven meeting, swished into the room with all of the flourish she could muster. Lavender wasn't able to make it with her, which was a crying shame, because they would have made one hell of a stunning couple. In fact, Rhona had very much enjoyed face timing her preparations with her girlfriend and even sending her the odd risque photo. She'd, of course, drop by Lavender's place after the gala so that she could be properly enjoyed by the person that she most wanted to impress.

For now, however, this would do. And, in fact, she already noticed some familiar faces. Jason parting company with Xi-Wang and another face that she did not recognize. No matter, She would introduce herself and make friends in no time. And soon the click of her heels resounding in the tile signaled her approach to her one of her most favorite people.

"Xi-Wang," she gushed, planting an affection and rather loud kiss on his cheek. "Don't you look just dashing this evening. Not that I expected anything else, you and Jason both cut quote the attractive figure."

And then she turned her attention to the new male and held out her hand to him.

"I'm Rhona Lee, good sir, but I make my friends call me Rho."

Mason and Nora

Mason did not want to be here, but Nora did. Nora wanted to check on her roommate. Mason didn't care.

Mason hated this already.

"We can dance!" His girlfriend was dressed in the most....princess gown she could possible find, her long hair pulled in a long braid, threaded with flowers. She was bouncing and attached to his arm, the sky blue haired teen sighed.

Well as long as it was just Ciaran that Nora was after. "Hey...Hey aren't those your friends!" Nora pointed to the large Amazon and the Clown next to her. "YOO HOO, LIA!!!!" Mason groaned.

"Mmm, I'd rather not spend the whole time here on an empty stomach." And while Jason wasn't likely to leave them on their own all night, Jason wasn't that sort of person, he had a feeling the other would get caught up in all the art...and leave them to themselves for a good while. Xi was fine with that, this was too social for him really.

"Let's see what we can find for food." He almost yelped, almost, but he kept it to himself. He wasn't expecting Gabriel to wrap an arm about his waist and pull him so close, not that he was about to complain. It was just unexpected.

"Mmm, I agree." But they should, or at least he should, be on alert. He had no reason to trust this. Gabriel was new to these things and for the others sake he hoped this went well, that these sorts of things weren't ruined for him, but he'd keep the other safe if something did happen.

"I hope what they have is good - that way we can fill up on them." And not have to get food afterwards, though food after this event wouldn't be bad...it would just be money spent he didn't want to need to spend. Wrapping his own arm about Gabriel he kept his side pressed to the others. "Smells good."

Turning as he heard the clicking of heels Xi-Wang didn't get much time to look over Rhona's choice in clothing, because his cheek as being kissed by her, when he did get a moment to back away he smiled appreciatively. "Jason picked out my outfit. I don't know what to wear at such events." Though there had been the hospital event, Rhona had seen him there.

Rolling his eyes at Rhona's introduction he shook his head, holding onto Gabriel tighter. "Somehow you haven't made me call you Rho yet..." He still called her Rhona or, when powered up, Acubens. He didn't shorten her name...it just felt odd to him to do so. "You remember when I mentioned I brought someone else into the...family. This is him." And he was keeping a hold on Gabriel, he didn't trust events in this city. He would, in time, prove to be as protective as Rhona was when it came to their court. It was family...and he was willing to fight and use magic for family

Mags Butler

She heard the word curls bounce around aloud but it took a few seconds for Mags to realize that whoever was saying it was referring to her and her massive wave of untamable blonde hair.

"Oh. Oh hey!" She responded, a little slow on the uptake. Was she s'posed to know this girl? She seemed to know her... or was she just being friendly?

Gosh. She'd better play it cool, else someone might realize they'd let a bumpkin into this fancy party and boot her out on the street. Mags didn't want to be out on the street --- and it seemed like this girl was havin' problems too, though hers happened to be more wardrobe malfunctiony.

"Definitely here for the food," Mags admitted, leaning a little closer so her voice could drop down both in volume and octave. "Ah dunno if anyone's mentioned but the white part of your dress seems to be missin' the rest. Did you maybe get it caught up in a door back there, somewhere?"

Peter Gallo

”Don’t worry about it,” Peter shrugged when Haven apologized, not thinking she had any reason to be sorry. “You’re actually doing something with your life other than sticking around this hell hole. I bet you’re gonna rock it at the next winter Olympics,” he grinned, feeling proud that he knew someone as talented as Haven.

“I don’t know if anyone else is showing up. I haven’t heard from Briar or Raleigh. If Briar isn’t coming, I doubt Kirra would come,” he went through the friends he’d seen recently, and the ones who often indulged him with his youma hunting, as well as the ones Haven was most likely to know, or at least remember.

“You’re always welcome, you know. It’s not like we have an exclusive club,” he lightly teased, knowing he had the tendency to annoy her quickly. “Wanna see what food they have?”

Chris Gallo

Chris nearly choked on the olive he’d popped into his mouth, taken out of the martini he’d ordered on a whim, and gave Paris a rather startled, concerned look.

“I really don’t want to bet,” he mumbled in response, trying not to look too classless as he chewed a bit worriedly on the rest of the olive, and pushed Paris’s whisky sour down the bar for her.

As relieved as he was to have his magic back, and more importantly his memories and starseed healed, he didn’t want to have a reason to use his refound powers. A nice, quiet night of needlessly fancy people and dancing was all he wanted.

Milica Yount

Milica was ecstatic when the invitation had arrived, who cared how, and had instantly set into motion of recycling her old prom dress from last year. Which was mainly just giving it a plunging neck line that her mother hated. Now the date had arrived and here she was dolled up with a full face of makeup and some shiny sparkles in her wavy black hair. None of her friends were as interested as the cosplayer in things like art so she had come stag, not a bad thing since it meant she could stuff her face and leave if this was a flop!

Heading into the place she had to stop and take a selfie with the party behind. This decor was sick, already glad she had showed up because with decorations like this you knew there was bound to be some tiny delicious shrimp! A slide of her phone into purse and she headed for the food. Loving the way her dress made little swish noises with each step.

Layne Anderson hair and facial hair update

As he nursed a drink near the bar he decided this was definitely the weirdest thing his therapist had suggested he do. Not to mention the most uncomfortable, another sip and he moved a finger up to loosen the bow tie he wore. His current outfit was the standard black suit and bow tie, a rental because he just couldn't bring himself to buy one of these damn things.

For a celebration of art and music this place was plain as all hell wasn't it? Or maybe he was just use to more lively events when music was involved. On a glance around the room his eye caught on the elephant statue and stayed for a long moment. Imagine waking up next to that thing in your bedroom he told himself with a grin behind glass as amber liquid slipped between parted lips. Freaky rich people and animal statues, yeah, this was totally making him more relaxed and less angry.

Desdemona

His tactic paid off; Desdemona's face split into a wide grin, and she even gave a short laugh. "Flattery will get you everywhere, " and it wasn't the first time she would say it, or the last, as she dragged fingers warmly along the plane of his chest. "Corny or not." She poked the tip of her tongue out at him playfully. "And that definitely was. - ah, acrobats, you think?"

With a hum, she took Otto's hand into her own, idly toying with his fingers. "I'd like to see one of those sword eaters. Or a flame eater. Something where they eat something dangerous. - oh, or one of those men who throw daggers - probably a little too high-brow for that though, huh?"

Malaise

He drank in the notion of being given the once over, knowing that meant there was something worth seeing. It was kind of a drug in itself, that sort of attention - Malaise felt a pleasant buzz beneath his skin, certain and not of himself in her eyes.

She was quite a pretty thing too: her hair was what had caught his eye first, and given half a chance, he knew he'd make a great time out of playing with it. "Malaise, " he answered, taking advantage of the hum of activity in the room to lean closer as he said it. "I try. And what words spoken from someone so vibrant. And you are?"

Dimitri

Dimitri turned his gaze from the crowd and onto her, and his head tilted, too, as if unconsciously mirroring her. He said nothing for a long moment, although it was clear he was working through what she had said, processing it and making it his own.

He thought back to the winter festival, before they'd come back as the lion and the clown.

Maybe a little surprisingly, he smiled. It wasn't forced or rehearsed. "You are exceptionally cheesy." He snorted and rolled his neck. "At least fix your hair. I'm here to see Lia, not the upper crust. Also I'm fairly sure it's as much of a safety hazard as punching someone."

When he heard a familiar voice, he stared off. "Ah, it's the little star - and his friend. I didn't know he'd be here too." Though Dimitri tried to remain toneless, he sounded distinctly pleased to see him.

You hear something.

Over by the bar there is what seems to be the sound of a tiger's low growl, unmistakable in its depth and power. At first you think it might be a trick of some sort, but something in your mind wavers; it's totally normal, after all. There's bound to be live big cats in a place like this. It's nothing out of the ordinary.

On the dance floor, you hear the bellow of an elephant's trumpeting. Perhaps initially you believe yourself to be hearing things, but then it happens again, and it's no big deal. That's completely expected in a place like this. You don't mind it at all. It's absolutely something completely mundane.

At the entrance, there's a strange tune playing. For a high class, black-tie affair, it seems oddly incongruous; there should be a symphony, an expensive orchestra. But after the first few notes, you realize this is entirely normal. It's of course the music of the party. There's nothing odd or out of place about it. Of course there isn't.

Ciaran Cassidy

Ciaran actually laughed at the girl's observation, looking at the white top of her white and black dress.

"It's the style these days for dresses now." She looked down at the shinier glittering pink version, "I like yours though. It's unique in a good way. I'm Ciaran btw, friends call me Cee."

She leaned down and giggled, "Foods free, and that's the best part of it." She smiled and leaned back before she heard the growl of tiger.

"Hey what...did you hear that?"

Jacques Lécuyer

Jacques hadn't wanted to go to this event, but he had learned, in his short time in the Negaverse, that things such as this in the city were... something to be looked at. And so he had been encouraged to attend. He had dressed in a Navy Blue tux and had quietly arrived. If he were to gather the attention of others then great! But his attention had been caught by the room. And it was... well he had been too disgusted for words. It was so tacky! It looked like some sort of circus! Who wanted such a theme when that wasn't on the invitation? If it was supposed to look like a circus, shouldn't there have been more to it?

Or perhaps they just wanted to show off all of the ridiculous animal statues that they had. Either way, Jaques had been disgusted by all of it, and had headed straight to the bar to see if there was any food he could have. And if there wasn't, he certainly wasn't going to stay all night sipping on soda! As he was heading to the bar, he could have sworn that there was some sort of large cat growl. But he didn't see anything. Perhaps it was a part of the music playing, where they would add animal sounds in it? It wouldn't be the first thing they managed to ruin in this complete disaster of an event.

((Jaques is open for interaction!))

Nolan Ellwood

Nolan tugged at the suit he had on. He growled at the monkey suit and the fact that he even had to wear it. But it was all her fault! He turned to Lori. "I can't believe you made me wear this, and made me come to this thing." He said, growling a bit. He couldn't help it, this place was boooooorrriiinnng. He wasn't interested in art or in the strange animal theme or whatever this place was trying to be. From what he could tell, what had been promised was nothing like what it actually was. Except for the fact that it had some art and some music.

Okay well it looked like it brought what it was actually supposed to, but that didn't mean it was good!

And he wasn't one for dancing either. What was he supposed to do here? Anyone could look at the dumb statues for 10 seconds and then be done with it. Was he really supposed to stay here for at least an hour or a few? He couldn't drink either, so it wasn't like he could actually get drunk and try to enjoy the event more with his plastered-out mind. Just then he thought he heard some really weird music playing. It was incredibly ear-grating, but he supposed it was just some sort of way they were showing off the music, by making it terrible.

Seren Yong

Seren walked into the great Hall of the event, her hand held tight in her boyfriend's as she did. She was wearing a long, slightly sweeping blue dress, decorated in silver and rhinestones, which had a somewhat celestial appearance to it. Over it she had a matching blue shrug, because she still wasn't comfortable with revealing much of her back or upper shoulders, even with her tattoo done. Her blue eyes were wide and eager as she looked around, taking in the lovely decor of the place.

She glanced over her shoulder at Nate, and beamed at the tall, handsome man. "This looks amazing, babe. Thank you for coming with me to the event!"

She then looked forwards again, eyes sweeping the place a little more, and smiling at the tiger and elephant statues. They looked so neat, and she wanted to pet them. She would be good, though, because one did not just touch the art. She thought, anyways... She had never really been to an event like this before, so it was SORT of out of her field of knowledge, but she figured she would work it out as she went, partly by observing everyone else and how they handled everything. She was about to say something else when her brows came together for a moment in confusion, as the music playing in the entrance caught her attention. This was a night dedicated to the arts, to music, why on earth would there be circus musi....

And the thought faded, because of course there was music! It was a party, one celebrating the arts! There would be music at any party, and especially one like this. Her brow smoothed and she said "So, do you want to go over to the food first, or dance first? Keep in mind, I DO expect to go dance with you, and if you eat yourself silly, I'll be sad." Her tone was loving and teasing, rather then mean or aggressive.
