Sitara Brennan is in the Entertainment Room

She had to admit, when Charles had suggested going to Hillsworth for a date, she had been leery. She had heard the stories, everyone had. Ghosts and spooks are fun and all, but not when they could ruin your date night.

She had dressed accordingly; a simple yet firm fitting black dress that hung low in the front. The skirt fell in light waves till her ankles, kissing them like a tease. She had found that she called the longer dress, the made her legs look longer. Of course the three inch heels she wore also helped in that endeavor.

Her hair was half up in a braid crown, twin picks of turquoise and gold standing in sharp contrast to her dark features.

As she entered the house, the sound were deafening. So many voices and the aura of three location hung over her. She eerikas have to find Charles as fast as possible.

Glancing about, her eyes first fell on Mercy. Good she had backup if things went south. She would not bother her at this moment, she seemed to be distracted.

Pushing on she moved toward what seemed to be an entertainment room. So, games and such were expected, good to know.

As her eyes lifted so did her mood, she grinning as she saw Charles sitting there. She moved through the crowd, waiting to catch his eye. She made soft, deliberate steps, swaying her hips just slightly.

Her foot made fall on the newly laid rug, catching the edge
and forcing her to have to catch herself. Grace thy name is Sitara.

Trey Cameron is in the dining room, glass of wine in hand

A party at a historic manor to celebrate halloween? It was an appealing distraction from work and school, even if memories of the last halloween nagged at Trey’s mind.

Rowan had celebrated last Halloween with him. They’d gone to a party, been attacked by spiders, but made it out more or less okay. It had been an adventure, one they had shared… and now he adventured alone. Not that this party was much of one, as yet.

Wandering through the room open to the party, he’d yet to find more than some passing acquaintances to greet before moving on. At least there was wine, and food of a passable quality. The sounds of people talking, laughing, mingling wrapped him up, muffling the patter of rain outside. Cold, dreary… it suited his inner mood, even if the young man was smiling and gracious on the outside. The familiar/unfamiliar faces of people long dead hung on the wall to his right as he wandered down the hall, glass in one hand and the other tucked into his slacks. The mistresses of the house, Ebony and Krystal, he recognized, the others he didn't, even if the faces nagged at him a little.

Rounding the corner to pass through a door, his eyes swept the occupants of the dining room with only a small amount of judgement. Some had opted for full out costumes for the party, but he’d decided on something a bit more toned down and elegant. He secretly liked to think he channeled the Nightmare before Christmas in the black suit and small pinstripes. His bowtie even had a bat pin, and the cloth in his pocket showed a spider web print. The party advertisement hadn’t said to wear costumes, so at least he hadn’t come in one and felt silly for it.

Queenie Powers - Dining Room

Parties at rich manors meant wealthy individuals in attendance and where wealthy individuals were, Queenie Bell Powers was always quick to follow.

It had taken some convincing to sweet talk her father into paying for the dry cleaning of one of her only little black dresses. She knew she would need a more expansive wardrobe once she started showing up in more socialite scenes but for now, she would have to remain content with swapping outfits in and out for various functions to make the appearance that she held more money than her middle-class family currently did.

She'd have a lot of money - once she found herself a rich beau to live off of like the proper socialite she was born to be.

Once on the scene, the first order of business was to cruise around the rooms, eyeing for potential new friends and associates. Likewise, she had to be on the lookout for any of the... well, competition. It was a dog-eat-dog world out there and she wasn't about to let some fussy little strumpet take what she deserved.

When pink eyes settled on familiar blue hair, however, her hunt was put on pause. He had a glass of wine in his hand, his suit was dark and appealing -- that head had to belong to only one blue haired hunk.

"Trey? Is that you?"

Hands clapped together excitedly as she made her way past another pair of guests, positioning herself in front of the older boy. "What a surprise! Had I known you were here, I would have asked Ms. Ellis to join us."

Not that Suri was ever one for fancy parties, but.

"How are you doing? I'm so glad the weather has finally cooled down - that humidity was doing absolutely horrible things to my hair."

Ashley Williams is in the Entertainment room

The Hillworth Estate manor hadn't exactly been Ashley's first choice for a small break away, but it had come up on Google when she had been looking for somewhere to spend a few nights and the sunny-looking photo had looked charming enough for her to find herself taking a look out of curiosity

And so now here she was, having found her way over to what appeared to be an entertainment room, grey eyes giving a cursory look over at the pool table, although she wasn't one for pool and so Ashley only gave it a quick glance before drifting over towards the closest chair.

Adaline Prescott in the Dining Room

Adaline couldn't remember where she'd seen the advertisement for the party, but it was likely an ad on one of the websites she'd found herself on when she'd been info hunting. It didn't matter because she was there and she was dressed up.

Not like fancy dressed, because she was going in costume. As the incredible Ramona Flowers, blue hair edition of course. She had the awesome purse and an inflatable hammer tucked away inside of it that she was ready to blow up if she needed to "pull it out".

The first thing she did when she was inside was wander into the dining room and she spotted fashion heir Trey Cameron, whom she made a direct beeline for. She had seen some of the newer fashions since that one ball she attended and she had so many questions. She hyper focused and didn't even notice the orange haired girl who'd approached him too.

She had blinders on, like a horse.

"Trey Cameron!!!! Hi!!!! It's me, um, Adaline? From that ball you threw with Chase Black?"

Penrose Lovelace - Foyer

He was bored.

This was, in fact, not unusual in the slightest, because to be quite honest, there was very little that didn't bore Penrose. He was notoriously lackadaisical when it came to anything other than the trapeze and the silks, and even then it was an effort to drag his thoughts into anything resembling excitement (though his eyes and his overall demeanor suggested it loudly).

He stood now in the grand hallway of a less than grand place, if only because it was too noisy for Pen's liking. He raised a brow as someone stumbled drunkenly past, cheering loudly, and reached for a wine glass as a waiter passed by, plucking it off with slender fingers.

"Try not to be too excited, darling," said Pen in a deadpan voice. "We're here to have a good time, such as it is."

He sipped the wine, made a face, and took another sip.

"Oh, and try not to frighten anyone too much, though I suppose you can't control your face."

Mathias White is in the Dining Room

"From what my aunt said, its a nice little get away from the more hectic parts of the city," Mathias said in a conversational tone. "Though, with walls like that - I'm surprised they're not planning for someone to come charging up with a catapult and demand we lower the gates. That's some... top-notch fencing there." He added with an appreciative whisper. "I would not want to vault that, and I've vaulted some high-security fences in my time."

He'd only been shot at ONCE... well twice - but he hadn't been a kid the second time.

"She promised it would be a fun little party, uncle can't go because... well - I kind of broke his jaw." He said, not sounding the least bit apologetic about it.

Mercy Haynes is in the Foyer

Mercy almost jumped when the kiss brushed her cheek, which immediately turned red as she turned to smile up at Nick. Not that she should FEEL embarrassed by the public display of affection - and she wasn't - she was just caught off guard and she didn't want Nick to know he'd spooked her, so she fanned herself coyly and lowered her head a few degrees in an attempt to look demure.

"Thank you for coming, I would have swung by the pick you up but uhm... car's in the shop," She made a weak laugh at that. "Something about a bad gasket? Apparently it's just normal wear and tear."

"It's kind of weird though, you'd think they'd have normal pictures up - not portraits... especially oil portraits those things are expensive as hell." Mercy said motioning at the family portrait. "I kinda recognize the guy in that one, but I can't put my finger on where."

Shaking her head she slid in beside Nick, taking his arm with a smile. "But, since you're here, shall we go and see what all the noise is about?"

She could hear music in one of the other rooms, which was always a good sign. "Or we could find someplace quiet."

There might have been a hint of a slightly sultry smile attached to that last train of thought.

"You look, really, really good in a suit by the way..."

Charles Nakahara is in the Entertainment Room

Charles had been about to get up and get a closer look at the damaged part of the rug, when his date arrived - looking splendid - radiant really. Glorious? Adjectives were not his forte - in any case she looked amazing. The effect wasn't even tarnished when she'd stumbled on the carpet. The speed at which he stood up had NOTHING to do with his date almost falling over. The pace of his feet were NOT hastened by the fact that she might hurt herself without his assistance. Nope, not at all.

He did take her arm lightly, placing it on his own so he looked like a proper escort and smiled down at her with a nod of his head. "Sorry, I should have waited in the foyer for you - but I'll be honest, the portraits weireded me out.."

Paintings were creepy. Charles was not a fan of creepy. Even more so now - for reasons.

"Don't worry about the rug, it's already damaged," he told her gently - well more conspiratorially. "It's been cut, they tucked the damaged part under the table, I was going to take a closer look, just to kill time, but you're here so that's a non-issue." He said with a small grin.

Trey Cameron in the dining room

Someone called his name, pulling Trey out of his thoughts and back to the party.

“Hmm? Queen?” The familiar red hair and pink eyes was something he remembered from Suri’s place… a basic senshi like him, but working under Zircon rather than his own general. He has favorable memories of her, if not ones that stuck out particularly hard. The last meeting had come after a particularly stressful event, so he supposed he shouldn’t be surprised. Even if she was usually better at this…

“Ah, hello! What a pleasure to see a familiar face.” He said as he turned, offering her his hand. “I didn’t know you’d be here… Suri didn’t come, hmm? A shame, but at least the wine is good, and the company better.”

The words flowed easily off his tongue, the compliments automatic. Thinking about Suri led to wondering what she would have worn, be it costume or not, and soon he couldn’t suppress the twitch of the corners of his mouth or the amusement warming his eyes. He might or might not have been considering her in a pair of cat ears with whiskers drawn on her face.

Queen was saying something about her hair and he nodded along, making conciliatory sounds. Friz was an ever present adversary to good hair, so he at least understood her pain.

“Its hard to believe with hair that lovely it would dare to frizz on you.” Trey said with a half smile.

Trey Cameron!!!!

Trey’s face blanked at the excited call and he turned with a curious look, settling on a pretty blue-haired girl he didn’t recognize… though her excited approach seemed familiar.

“Ball? Ah! Yes, I remember.” He said, spreading a polite smile across his face. He didn’t, but that wasn’t important. “Its good to see you again Adaline. Are you enjoying the party?”

Pat O'Ryan - in the Foyer for now

Pat had heard about this place, really who hadn't at least heard whispers around Halloween, it had a serious vibe about it but when the party was announced and it turned out that it was on a day when both he and Fiona were off... the tall redhead happly shelved any misgivings if it meant a night with Fiona. Being two active adults with busy work lives, spending time with each other wasn't all that easy and finding days where they were both free was a bit like finding a diamond in the rough. Those days were true jems so Pat went all out for this party.

Happly for him it was a formal costume party, just up his alley. He did his best to smother the goofy grin on his face as he resettled his top after pulling his jacket off, but he still had a slight upturn on his lips as he passed his warm winter coat to the young lady standing there in the foyar, by the mudroom (Ebony Rose). "Thank you for inviting us all here to your home. It is quite unique," He greeted one of the two hostesses, he didn't really know which one, before drifting a little bit further down the foyar and out of the way of everyone still arriving.

The whole house was a manor from another time and place, it would be perfect for a movie set or tv show like Cinderella or Once Upon a Time or some other modernist twist of a european fairy tail. His outfit... well, fit, right in since he was dressed quite literally as 'Prince Charming' but it all worked because he was there with his 'princess'.

Pat turned towards his date, his 'princess', and asked Fiona, "Where would you like to go? The dining room first or the entertainment room, either work for me."

Otto Moor - Entertainment Room

Any little excuse to get dressed up and go out, Otto was all about it. Especially when he got to show up with a lovely lady on his arm, and Desdemona was the loveliest lady he knew.

For tonight's little soiree the blonde had gone with a pair of pressed charcoal slacks with thin white pin-striping. He had polished black shoes, a white button down with the sleeves rolled back over his forearms, and a pair of dark grey suspenders. A cheap looking plastic fox mask finished off the outfit. He had it pushed back and resting on the top of his head as he escorted his date through the lavish foyer of the old manor and into what seemed to be the central hub of the party.

"How have I lived here my entire life and never knew this place existed?" Admittedly he hadn't exactly paid all that much attention to anything cultural the city had to offer in his high school or early college days, but it still seemed odd. This seemed the sort of place sixth grade classes went on historical field trips.

Oh well.

Glancing around for any sign of a bar, Otto slipped his arm out of Dessy's grip if only to catch her hand so he could draw her around and against him, flashing her a devilish grin. "Would you like a drink?" There didn't seem to be any sort of refreshments in here, but there had to be somewhere.

Jacqueline Maaz - Dinning Room

When Fiona had initially asked Jack if she'd be interested in attending a costume party at a fancy old house the young woman had leaped at the chance. She liked dressing up, and she'd been hoping for more opportunities to spend time with the redhead, so this was just perfect!

Well, perfect in theory.

Now that she was standing alone in a large dinning room scanning the faces of the folks filtering in and out for any signs of her friend, Jack wasn't entirely sure. She felt a little awkward standing there in sparkling teal flapper dress she'd decided on wearing for the evening. Not that it looked bad on her, she happened to think it fit very well, and she'd even managed to get her hair into neat finger waves beneath the feathered headband, but she just felt self-conscious. Like every eye in the room was on her.

It left her fidgeting slightly, the toe of one heeled shoe tapping softly against the floor behind her other foot, fingers toying with a bit of fringe at the front of her dress. Maybe a little wine would help? Or at the very least couldn't hurt? She wasn't entirely sure since she wasn't really a big drinker.

When were Fiona and her date supposed to arrive?

Sitara Brennan is in the Entertainment Room

There was the softest bit of cursing before she felt the steading arm of someone near her. Glancing up (Charles still much taller than she, even in heels) get smile widened before a blush overtook her cheeks. She always seemed to be falling. Thank the powers he was always there to catch her.

"I was not so much worried about the rug as I was the heels. These are my mother's. I really don't want to break them." She lowered her gaze and blushed deeper, she holding firm to his arm.

Had he said the rug was cut? Why would someone have done such a thing? It didn't do much to calm her fears. The aura certainly wasn't lifting.

"Now you have me curious." She glanced to where Charles had been sitting. It was so tempting to rush over and take a look.

"Were you waiting long? I had to have mom drop me here. She was not the happiest about it either."

"My dear," the woman's smile was now too wide, teeth exposed like raised hackles. "If anyone were so clumsy to break anything they'd find themselves paying the price. Her fingers picked a loose string from her shoulder- "If I see your toy I will send him your way. Do enjoy yourself." The woman nodded the teen off. As She would look at the portaits, they'd all be more of the local scenery and more of the family. However, one portrait stands out- a silhouette of a man standing against the forest, blacked out while the forest shines in summer light. If she inspected closely, she'd notice a touch of purple outlining his figure.

She blinked, lips tugged into a smirk. "My my, everyone so curious about the house but not the women in it. Tragic-" She sighed but continued on, "We restored it with the help of some good people who owed us a few favors truth be told. And what point would be for a tour? To look at but not enjoy? No, why look at the beauty when you could stay, become a part of it?"

The woman took his coat, secretly giving a long sniff to it when no one was looking.

The laugh is a barely contained snort. "Somewhat. My idea of fun is something good people find a bit too dramatic. This party is a nice distraction from my everyday tedium. Promotional, celebrational- all good for business. Besides, whats the point of having such an estate if we didn't show it off?" Plucking the 8-ball from her grasp, the woman gave it a shake, the die inside reading 'yes'.
"The estate is ours- and legal paperwork aside, we plan to keep it for a great deal longer. As far as we are concerned the past is the past. Our relatives not worth mention. But, we decided it was boring having this place so.... empty. Thought a party might liven it up, help attract younger clientele."

The chandelier looks old and very ornate. With the lights on, it's hard to make out much detailing on it, but, you can tell at least, it's free of dust and cobwebs!

The table is most definitely hand carved, the small dips here and there telling even with the sand and polish. As you run your hand under it, your finger catches on a tiny splinter as you find a large gouge in the wood on the underside. Ouch!

The rug is as unforgiving as any other, rubbing your skin the wrong way and failing to offer much cushion. Otherwise, nothing stands out save a waiter giving you a pitying look.

Mahogany Shapour -- Entertainment Room

Mahogany's parents had insisted that he attend the festivities that night, and he was more than happy to oblige. He was always in his element at high society parties, and knew that this would be just one more chance to peacock around. the only drawback was that no one he knew was around to admire him... he would have to rely on strangers instead. So he put on his best dark grey slacks, matched them with a black button up shirt and brown sports jacket, finished of course with carefully cioffed hair and tastefully contoured face. He wasn't allowed to wear glam looks out to important events, but he could usually get away with some carving.

By the time he arrived, fashionably late, thing were already in full swing. People in the entertainment room were already chatting, trying to brush up with the owners, and wandering around the room. He absently listened before he heard the hostess lament not being asked after.

This was why his father had taught him to listen.

Mahogany made his way over to the woman and bowed slightly at the waist, smiling with crinkled eyes.

"Good evening Ms. Rose. Thank you very much for hosting this event. My father, Gaspar Shapour, sends his regard and apologies that he could not accompany me. I hope you're doing well this evening."

---

Heather Beauchamp -- Foyer

Heather stood in the foyer uncertainly, watching the hostess warily. Her mother had insisted that she attend this event, citing that Heather never got to do what she wanted... but Heather hadn't wanted to do this. Like at all. Crowds made her nervous because they had a tendency to be stupid in a crisis and what if there was a crisis now? Mob mentality was real and people got trampled in emergencies all the time. Honestly, Heather would rather be at home with he baby brother and mother, snuggled up on her couch watching kitschy Halloween television.

But still, Heather forced herself to be the polite young lady her mother had raised. Fingers twisting into one another, Heather approached the hostess who had just vaguely threatened someone over breaking something.

"Um. Hello," she muttered, barely above a whisper, "thank you for... um. For having us, Miss. Your home is beautiful," if not intimidating, "I'm hoping for a tour -- if that's not too much to ask, of course."

Though the last statement came out as one long word, Heather avoided eye contact through the whole exchange, opting instead to study her knuckles and the floor beneath her feet.

iStoleYurVamps
The owners can feel free to know or not know the Shapour name. They're old money, but nowhere near as affluent as the Hillworth estate.

Fiona Watson - Moving from Foyer to Dining Room

Date nights were few and far between, not for a lack of trying but with her unpredictable schedule and Pat's life as an EMT, Fiona took what days she could with her sweetheart. And as much as she would have loved something more one on one, Fiona had invited her new friend along, to make sure that the girl knew that she had people.

It was for bonding and she needed to be better about introducing her boyfriend to the people in her life.

Following Pat was easy, the dress she wore something nicer, her hair done up in a crown so the tiara to indicate she was his 'princess' sat nestled neatly in her hair. Her fingers pressed against his bicep when she looped his arm with hers. "Dining room," she decided, already leading her prince that way when she spotted a familiar face. "Ah, Jack!" She called, even as she headed towards the woman with her date in tow.

"Pat, this is my friend Jack."
