DM Sailor Lumen

"Probably." for a moment it didn't seem like Lumen was going to continue while he looked at the door. "Lumen. Does this thing even have a handle? How are we supposed to ...."

The other senshi's words filtered in slowly and Lumen turned around, eyes wide enough they were almost viable around his glasses. "FUN HOUSE?! What are you talking about? Fun houses don't have lasers that actually burn you."

Lumen rubbed his arm absently, expression quickly shifting into a frown as Ptolemaeus got in his space. He tried to bat the other's hands away, tugging his arm back toward himself. "I'm fine. It stings a little. How about you worry about getting the door open so we can get out of this death trap."

Super Sailor Bestla

Seeing that the kid seemed to be doing all right overall, Bestla allowed herself a small sigh of relief. As long as everyone made it out of whatever this was alive, she'd be content.

Even if some of the group were ******** Negaverse.

Jumping slightly at finding herself addressed by someone whom, she could only assume based on hearsay, was a Dark Mirror, she let a grin flicker across her face. Another tall was always fun. And since this dude seemed, well, not overtly hostile, she could at least be civil back.

"We're the same height, Tall Drink," she chuckled right back. "My ex is the same height too. He doesn't look nearly as good in a skirt as me though. Trust me. We tried."

Brushing her hair from her eyes as she studied the maze a moment.

"Fairy Fire," she answered after a pause. "What about you? And would I be correct in assuming you're a Dark Mirror?"

General Zircon
HP: 68

Oh look, some White Moon Senshi trying to preach about how they had the moral high ground and weren't accessory to a force that used child soldiers. Groundbreaking. Zircon cast a withering glare in Bestla's direction, but otherwise paid the super senshi no mind. The general had more important things on her mind, namely crossing the room without setting off any of the other alarms.

"I'll be with you soon," Zircon called across the room, feeling out the invisible walls with a steady hand, a puzzle just waiting to be solved. The others seemed to be navigating it well enough, blind as they were--and as long as she stayed out of range of the outside perimeter, none of the other wires heated up to zap her. It was fascinating, to feel no texture, no temperature, just...a barrier. Was it somehow a defensive response to the auric energy of the powered individuals? If she were to power down, would she be able to walk freely through the room? Would she be in the room at all, or would the obelisk disappear, like it had for anyone else who had tried to visit powered down?

She did not try to power down, of course, not with so many dangerous liabilities here. But the possible applications to her research were endless, it was hard not to feel a little starstruck.

She met the others at the exit of the maze, a little disappointed in how easy it was to solve with the pattern already shown. "Did you find anything interesting?" She asked Sinoite, folding her hands into her pockets as she stood at ease. With a pause, she considered the door ahead of them, pursing her lips. "Has anyone...tried to open it yet?" There was no sense in waiting to leave if their exit was simply unlocked...but let someone from Order make the attempt, just in case there were traps.

You managed to finish the strange task foisted upon you and, despite some of you being crispier than you might like. Upon completion of your task to something’s satisfaction, the door leading into the next room starts to rise. Before you stands a huge, incredibly wide staircase. It seemed to ascend for as far as they eye can see. Made of beige stone and criss-crossed with the same pulsing black circuit pattern you’re already accustomed to, it seems your first objective in this new area… is to climb. (You didn’t skip leg day, did you?)

Upon reaching the top, another large black door awaits you, rising as the first of your group nears it. You find yourself in another large, rectangular room, much like the first. Here, however, that mechanical humming sound seems much louder than you remember.

Once all of your group is in the room, the door SLAMS closed behind you, and a loud, monotonous voice booms through the room.

[[ANALYZING…]]

A heavy aura blankets the room, and before you know it…

The room begins to shake horribly. The floor is collapsing! And beneath the floor? There’s nothing.

[THE SECOND TASK]

Reach the end of the room and find safety at the door on the other side as quickly as you can! There’s an aura in the room which seems to be suppressing Chaos characters. While they could teleport and move freely in the previous room, their movement in this room feels sluggish and slow.

[The Rules]

Roll one (1) d10 for each post and follow these prompts:

  • Roll 1-3: Maybe it’s panic, maybe it’s a poor choice of footwear. In any case, you’ve injured yourself while running! Take 3 damage.
  • Roll 4-7: You’re able to keep ahead of the collapsing floor, but not by much. You’re slipping every so often. Take 1 damage
  • Roll 8-10: You run on the side, don’t you? You’re way out ahead! If your character is ORDER, you can assist another character by ICly pulling them with you or pushing them forward. That person adds +2 to their roll! You can do this ONCE per 8-10 roll. (If this +2 bonus makes the other person get an 8 or higher, that person DOES NOT have the ability to bestow another bonus. No bonus chains here!)
  • You can roll every half hour!

[Your goal is to reach a total of 100 for the group to escape into the next room.]

[The next step of the climb will begin in roughly 48 hours!]

DMS Super Ptolemaeus: 60/60

"Very good. Nice to meet you, Lumen."

The older male couldn't stop beaming at Lumen's response to his comparison of a fun house. "It wouldn't be much fun if there weren't some element of danger involved, right? Where's your sense of adventure?" he teased. He knew that must have seemed easy enough for him to say considering he hadn't been the one who had suffered any injuries, but Ptolemy was the sort that took pain with pleasure and would have preferred both to none.

Still, he knew what it had been like as a new senshi, especially thrust into 'adventures' that no one else warned you about or explained where you didn't know if the next decision you made would be your last. Adopting a more serious smile, he lowered his voice to soothing tones.

"Listen, just try to relax a little," the super advised, ripping a scrap of cloth off of his uniform. "It's important to keep calm or you'll burn yourself out before we get to the end. And we will get out of this alive, don't worry." He held out his hand for Lumen's arm. "I'll do everything in my power to keep you safe. So just chill and try to enjoy yourself a little, yeah? And at least let me bandage you a little."

He gestured about them. "Look at all these fine, lovely people. None of them want to kill each other or us. Not at the moment, anyway. Isn't that something?" Ptolemaeus wondered if it had had something to do with the monument's influence over them, but said nothing so as not to spook his new acquaintance. "Why don't you make a new friend? Put 'em at ease." He sneered. "Those Negaverse officers definitely seem wound tight."

Hearing a nickname he thought might have been referencing him, the chaos super noticed the White Moon Senshi's grin and his own once more sprung to his mouth.

"You tried?!" he repeated, genuinely astonished. "Wow, I'm impressed! Can't get too cocky, though. You haven't seen me in one." The tattooed young man winked.

"Fairy fire? Nice! Sounds like a lot of fun." With a flourishing gesture, he swept her a playful bow. "That's correct! So glad you know of us. Name's Sailor Ptolemaeus, Senshi of Change. Ptolemy for short."

Captain Angelite

Stairs in heels? Christ.

The older Captain knew her poor legs would soon feel the brunt of the staircase climbing, provided she managed to make it out of the monument alive. Her mind did its best to memorize the scenery around her, keeping notes as she went of the bizarre circumstances and trap rooms they managed to find their way into.

Just when she thought their new location would provide a moment of relief, the blonde found herself wrong.

Very, very wrong.

Eyes cast a glance over towards the other agents. Her power was too consumed to teleport again so quickly - goodness knew she was doing well to simply make it on her own. Then again…. she didn't have to worry about any pesky prosthetics.

Calling out to the Lieutenant she'd just more or less teleport-napped for a moment, Angelite let out a curt, humorous laugh.

“Those long legs better be good for something, Lieutenant.” Somehow she found herself teasing him, despite their dire circumstances, “Because I imagine your General might need some assistance - running doesn't seem like it would be one of her many talents.”

Super Sailor Bestla
HP: 60 - 1 = 59
Group Total: 17/100

Once everyone had made it to the door, Bestla was pleased as anything. She was even more pleased when the door opened to reveal a staircase. And since nothing seemed to be actively trying to harm them, she skipped up easily. Flashing another grin at Ptolemy, she burbled with laughter.

"We tried. And hey, you don't mind being a skirt model we can try you next. I'm always up for draping new vict... er... friends."

She turned her focus momentarily to the stairs, realizing they were coming to an end. And another door. Yay.

"Eh, can't complain about it. It's made a few fights a little easier as far as being able to see goes. I'd rather rely on my own strength though. Change sounds a lot more interesting, honestly. Pleased to meet'cha, though."

At the top of the stairs, she could only wait until everyone was gathered together. Which seemed to be the point once the door opened. Piling into the room, Bestla hoped that whatever it was that had compelled them all to be at the obelisk was happy now. Moving quickly to make room for those coming in behind, the senshi looked around the room, losing herself in her own thoughts until the door suddenly slammed shut. Oh, that couldn't be good...

But it was when the floor began to shake that she knew things were very very bad. She saw a piece of floor vanish into nothingness and took off running, acting on pure instinct.

Slipping slightly as she ran, Bestla was able to keep just ahead of the floor, but as much as she wanted to make sure nobody fell, she wasn't much help if she could barely keep her own balance.

DMS Super Ptolemaeus: 60 - 3 = 57/60

While the stairs were unexpected, they didn't seem particularly ominous - at least not any less than anything else the pulsing circuits criss-crossed - so Ptolemy began to ascend them along with the others.

"You kidding? What's the use of legs this long if you can't model skirts, right?"

The new door at the top caused his smile to falter for a moment, but he pushed it open and attempted to maintain a calm composure while simultaneously trying to stay alert.

"That sounds practical," he remarked upon his peer's reliance on her own strength. "And having change as a sphere is interesting for sure, but it's also extremely unpredictable in the form of my magic, so it's not always helpful. Sometimes it's the opposite." The swarthy young man shrugged. "Luckily, it's not often I have to fight anyone."

At being told she was pleased to meet him, he dipped his head and said, "Likewise. But I don't think I caught your name."

Of course the floor had to fall out from under them. What self-respecting booby-trapped obstacle course would miss out on collapsing floors? Mirrorspace certainly enjoyed them. Why not this place?

Even with his enhanced abilities, the ground under his sandals disappeared nearly faster than he was able to react. That was what he got for being too caught up in conversation to stay attuned to his surroundings. Ptolemy's unhelpful footwear slid on the sinking foundations as he attempted to bound toward the door on the opposite side of the room. He slipped and gasped sharply as he hurt his ankle, but he continued onward nevertheless.

"I don't want to be a kid," Onnie declared, pouting, "if only because everyone's always like this about it!" The way she set her hands on her hips, glaring at Ptolemaeus, was more than a little childish. "It's not a height thing either!! It's just -"

The floor fell out from under one foot and she squeaked, taking off as fast as her legs could take her, which was surprisingly fast. As she hurried, Onnie slipped her hand around his wrist and yanked, come on come on come on, she was not going to die in some stupid magic pyramid in the middle of the night before finals.

Corrupt Sailor Cursa
HP: 49/50
Group Total: 38

Out of the frying pan and into the fire. That age-old phrase was how Sailor Cursa was starting to feel about everything. They'd made it through the first room, then the maze, granted a very brief reprieve before taking to the stairs that loomed on ahead of them. A good bit of her strength came from her legs, what with being a ballet dancer and all, but this was insane. No amount of super strength or stamina had set her up for this and by the time she made it to the top she was exhausted. Supernaturally so, it seemed.

When the floor began to give way beneath her she thought to use her magic to zip ahead, but her aim wasn't always accurate and there was no guarantee that she wouldn't over-shoot and wind up falling to her death below.

She wanted to stay with the General-- to prove that she could listen to orders and be worthy of the gifts she'd been granted with her corruption, but the floor was giving way faster than Cursa could move. Provided they made it past this she'd fall back in line, but for the moment she wanted to survive.

DM Sailor Lumen: HP - 45
Room Total: 39

Lumen eyed the other senshi and huffed at his assumption that the younger senshi didn't know what 'adventure' was. "I spend my free time walking around abandoned buildings and breaking into run down hospitals looking for ghosts. I think I have a perfectly healthy sense of adventure. None of it involves this though." He waved his uninjured arm around vaguely

"And I dont want to relax. I want to not be in here, where ever this is." Lumen let Ptolemaeus bandage up his arm but didn't stay still much longer after that. He didn't know how to keep still in the best of circumstances and this wasn't even a passable one.

Unfortunately for Lumen as he was pacing around the floor under them started to crumble and the senshi's foot slipped through a sudden hold in the floor. He smacked hard into the ground, the impact jarring his arms as he just managed to catch himself from falling hitting his face on the rapidly crumbling tile.

Corrupt Sailor Cursa
HP: 49/50
Room Total: 49

Cursa was still exhausted, but she seemed to have found her stride-- momentarily, at least. The floor was still crumbling beneath each step she took, but she wasn't thinking about it. She couldn't think about it. She had to focus because she couldn't afford to let anyone down...

At the same time, this wasn't an audition. If she was going to survive this she was likely going to need help of some sort and being ruthless by trampling over others to get to safety would get her nowhere. Not this time, at least.

With the certainty of her footing, Cursa paused to help the slender scarecrow of a senshi with sea-foam hair to his feet. He was a senshi and he didn't reek of Order-- that had to count for something, didn't it? "Got your feet back? Good, let's go."

"Always like what? That people think you can't do things or that you're in the way of the ones who can?" Despite his hurt ankle, the super attempted to grin and bear it as he hurried out of the way of the crumbling floor.

Somehow, though, he still managed to spare enough breath to address the Chibi Senshi. He wasn't normally fond of children, but her words intrigued him. He wondered what Tymiko would have thought of them. "I personally agree. But my younger sister would be heartbroken to hear you say that."

When his sandals slipped again, Ptolemy winced and slowed. It seemed more than just his footwear, too. Something about his chaotic energy felt like it was holding him back; making him sluggish. He couldn't afford to stop, though. Not with the threat of an endless abyss close at their heels.

Before he knew what was happening, a small but strong hand had closed around his wrist. His gaze followed up the arm to its owner and he stared, astonished. She was helping him? Him, a perfect stranger and a Chaos senshi to boot? She'd had every reason to simply continue ahead on her own. She would have been faster with better chances of reaching the safety of solid ground without the burden of him to drag behind.

"...Thank you," he breathed as he tried to keep up, doing his best to ignore the pain in his ankle. But then the pain reminded him of the young man whose injury he had just bandaged. Where was Lumen?

General Zircon
HP: 68 65
Room Total: 58

Oh. Stairs. Great.

Zircon didn't fear staircases--months of physical therapy had long since coached her on the proper way to ascend one, even without the flexibility in her ankles. Still, it was a slow, stilted process, and the trudge felt particularly draining without the assistance of a hand-rail. It was hard to feel like a general who could protect her subordinates when she couldn't even fight the weakness in her own body, but still she carried forward, one step at a time.

At least, she did until the floor gave way.

It felt like she was moving in molasses--slow, far too slow, her bones heavy like they felt when she wasn't channeling chaos in her veins. Zircon tried to step forward and the floor gave out beneath her, falling through with her good leg and doing a decent job of scraping her shin on the way down. She gritted her teeth so as not to make noise, and shimmied to her knees, glaring at the end of the passage with tired eyes? Why couldn't she teleport? Why couldn't she just be there? After relying on the skill for her mobility for so long, to go without was a nightmare.

She didn't bother to look for the corrupt--if she were lucky, none of her subordinates would have noticed. Still, she needed to find a way to be better, before she ended up being the laughingstock of the room. Their survival depended on her being enough of a thread to dissuade Order from attacking once the games were over. Zircon needed to think, do better, be better.
