She blocked what she could, but it wasn't enough. Grunting, she hoisted herself up and then helped Piper. "We must keep going!" Giving up was never an option for Hollandaise, even when faced with insurmountable odds. "I have your back; ready?"

She glanced at the ghoul and nodded again, more to reassure herself than the other. This wasn't her team, and Piper, despite her loud attitude, was not a leader by any means. Bossy didn't mean the same thing by any stretch of the definition. She had to keep looking like she was professional, if only to make sure she didn't chicken out of self-doubt.
"Hell yeah!" she cheered as the dragon swung in for another go at them. Propping the jug-like weapon up, she planted herself behind the monster and fired off another fireball, since last time it had done the trick. But the creature's rage seemed to make it even more impervious than before. The ghoul cursed again as it barely seemed to do a thing.
"You wouldn't happen to have any special skills right about now, would ya?" she asked, wavering slightly as the miasma layered over them. Piper wasn't starting to feel so hot...

"I do not know much - you may defend instead if you're feeling unwell," she watched with concern as the other ghoul swayed. They were unlikely to live, she thought. Or rather, they would dissipate. It wasn't so awful - she'd experienced it before, a hunter, in a house, at another time. Hollandaise enjoyed railing against walls as though they would fall down from the sheer power of her will. They never did. It pushed her to become better, stronger, but she was never more aware of her failings that she was in moments like these.
She shook her head. "One thing I can do ends up hurting me as much as my assailant, and the other is like a p***k of rose thorn - inconsequential."

Piper didn't answer at first, as this time she was really concentrating. The barrage attack didn't work, but her newest trick needed to be executed and flawlessly. Her image was starting to look bad enough with all these whiffs without having someone comment on her looking unwell. "I can shield you if you want to try the hard hitter," she suggested as she mounted her weapon and got in place.
The dragon opened its maw again as it to make that sonic roar from earlier, and she took her chance. Like a sniper, she shut one eye, aimed for the open mouth, and let loose a concentrated beam of icy energy straight at it. "Direct hit," Piper narrated cinematically--right before the dragon smacked her again.
And she really did not feel better when she picked herself back up. The ghoul's eyes were pitch black and seemed to flicker purple in the lightning strikes around them, and her whole body seemed to have an equally eerie purple hue. Her shoulders rose around her neck as she regarded both Holly and the dragon warily.
"Oh, that was excellent! Perhaps, when we come back to the school we could meet in the gym?" She thought for a moment, becoming completely still, then blinked. "I will... try, if you help. But I am still new." Hollandaise felt it would be good to warn Piper of any possible misfires.

"Why?' PIper asked sharply, wondering what devious plans the plant ghoul could have for her in such a place. She was confident in her own skill, sure, but maybe the whole "I am still new" thing was just an act to make her lower her guard. Why was she sticking her neck out for a stranger again? For treasure she had no proof of? Stupid stuff was just playing a mean game of hide and go seek with her...
She turned her head around suspiciously, telling the thin air, "I know you're there," in a bitter hiss. "Bet you're laughing your precious ancient a** off..." Whatever.
Twitching in some silent response, she turned her gaze on the monster, still eying her like any moment now would be when the battle turned sour for herself, and then waved her hand erratically. The spell seemed to go through regardless, however, as soon Holly was coated with an extra layer of earthy goodness, hardening over her like a lightweight set of armor of soil and vines. Maybe that would be enough to earn her good graces for now.
Or maybe Piper would get to watch her destroy herself without having to worry.
"Both is good," she mused aloud, waving at the ghoul to act and fast.

"To spar of course," and she grinned, a quite unusual sight. As the vines from Pipers coiled around her, thorns began to shoot up through them. Long and wicked, they stabbed into both the vines and Hollandaise. She cried out in pain, but still tried to fling herself at the dragon. It reared back and struck out with one foreleg, easily knocking her aside. Hollandaise crumpled.

Piper began to laugh her a** off and fell flat on the ground from the shaking, seeming to disregard the immense danger they were in as she shared with the few people she saw around her in a giant joke. "I know, right? Yeah!" She wiped a tear from her eye as the monster collapsed. "Don't you dare--O-M-J, not that stupid pun, grandpa! Face planted, Jacking..." She wheezed some more.
The noise slightly disrupted the dragon's concentration. Maybe.

"Do you think now is an ideal time for that?" she said snippily. Maybe Piper didn't want to even try any longer, maybe she was only here to laugh as Hollandaise dissipated. She bared her teeth and vines sort from her arms, lashing at the dragon. It didn't do a lot but it was something.
Her chest heaved from exertion. "If you are quite done - I don't know if I can hit it again. Can you?"

The dragon stopped long enough to roar and fire a blast of icy wind at its attackers before resuming its rampage.

There's a discrepancy between HP amounts... you guys might want to take a moment to double-check that your totals are accurate.
/points up the HP amount is varying between 239 and 215.
"Yeah, yeah..." She waved her hand dismissively, a sharp smile in place as she picked herself up. Good, at least she was weak. No chance she could betray her...right?
Hmm.
Well, the dragon was kind of a big deal right now, so they probably should focus on that instead. Seeming to slink rather than walk over, the reaper eventually meandered over, animatedly talking with her grandfather still about not making stupid jokes in the middle of battle wow.

She shouldered in behind Piper, and her elbow may have found its way to a sensitive portion of the ghoul's back. "Do not," she nearly hissed. "-call me twiggie." This ghoul... was clearly awful, somehow. Hollandaise knew she couldn't take her in a fight, but.... the temptation!

Piper just smirked in a way that said she could think of worse things than that little moniker. Especially after that unnecessary elbowing. She was watching you, ghoulie.
But it was much too hard to concentrate on her spell flinging between the thunderstorm, the uninvited audience, and her own paranoia that Holly was going to actually try to take her out in the middle of the chaos. What burst from the weapon was more ember than fire, easily disintegrating in the wind and rain before it even touched the dragon.
"Candlejack--" The dragon snapped at them again, and this time was the worst sensation she had ever felt since falling out of that jackforsaken bus. Piper's vision dimmed much too quickly, and before she could feel the full wave of fear at the idea of being unconscious around these sorts of monsters, she was completely knocked out.

Saya watched the conversation between the two, but decided not to comment, merely pressing her lips together. At the moment, she was more concerned with defending herself from the dragon.
