However, as they entered the Forest once more, Fee inexplicably bucked him from her back, and ran back towards Camelot. Johan called after her, wondering what had happened. Did she remember the spider from the last time? Did his horse get Dysentery?
Whatever the reason, he was on his own, with few supplies, and a long trek ahead of him.

As Johan entered the mountain labyrinth, he had a rare stroke of luck. Low on supplies, he chose to continue on nevertheless, and happened to stumble over a forgotten cache of food.

Emerging from the labyrinth, Johan spied the top of the mountain, and let out a shout of triumph.
"Take that, Quartermaster, you knave!"
The mountain wasn't impressed.
An hour later, half-frozen, Johan finally dug himself out of the snow, and crawled to the top of the mountain. Gauntlets. How nice. He hoped he would still have fingers after the frostbite.

When he next felt he had rested enough to attempt the journey, Johan headed back down to the Quartermaster. With the new gauntlets equipped, he slowly and deliberately placed the chit into the man's hands. Another conversation of glances was exchanged.

"Nice gauntlets." the Quartermaster simply said, handing a large bag of provisions.
"Thank you." Johan returned, cordially.

As petty as it was, the small victory over the Quartermasters' disdain had cheered Johan considerably. He wasn't quite smiling, but as he rode out on Fee, the White Knight Apprentice could be heard to hum tunelessly under his breath.
And then he fell down a cliff.

Johan could swear he saw Fee roll her eyes at him as he clawed his way back up to the path. Once again. And some of his food had once again gone sailing into the depths. If there were any monsters down there, he hoped they would choke on it.

Once again, as they reached the forest, Fee suddenly bucked Johan off her back and headed back to Camelot. Rubbing his now sore backside, Johan wondered what about the forest had Fee so spooked. Could she have a phobia of spiders? This seemed to start after that one time the spider had come after them.
Well, he was far better off as food went this time. Hoisting the pack, Johan continued through the forest.

As he was passing through the mountain labyrinth, Johan stumbled and twisted his ankle rolling away from one of the traps. Using his katana as a crutch, he was able to move forward, but quite slowly. He ended up chewing through a good bit of his supplies.

All was quiet as Johan climbed to the summit of the mountain. Either this world was still capable of showing mercy to a wounded Knight Apprentice, or figured he wasn't worth the effort. Either way, there was no King up here this time either.
But he did find some disturbingly ornate pants.

Okay. This, arrows raining from the ceiling, was new. Also incredibly painful. Johan did his best to dodge the incoming ones, and once through, removed as many from his flesh as he could, but he still ended up looking like a porcupine.
