"Mix it up with Frost Breath, Walrein," he instructed. If it was worth much, he seemed to agree with Simon's unspoken opinion; Super Fang was over powered and Yawn was too cheap a tactic. Even though it wasn't hardly effective against the opponent, he would rather use those sorts of tactics sparingly, spread out through a battle, than try and spam them just to win. A cheap victory was barely a victory at all, in his opinion.

Btw, as I kind of alluded to in my Brycen post, I don't really like the over poweredness of Super Fang, either. Nor do I like cheap tactics like putting the opponent to sleep again and again. So, I'm trying to use them sparingly, and, at most, one time against each opponent, if even that. Just so you don't have to worry about me suddenly spamming those attacks just because Brycen's other attacks do almost no damage against Greninja

Rubbing his arms as the room got colder he called out Greninja to use Extrasensory. As he had done in many battles before Greninja stood straight, hands in an upside down T set up, and closed his eyes. Opening them he shot out the psychic blast, it was powerful however not enough to earn the flinch.

((makes sense but if you're trying to win why wouldn't you spam those moves? Minus the lack of PP I guess since that would make it less likely for it to be used over and over. However Super Fang does feel more OP than even Hyper Fang which was learned much later. One tiny note, Simon didn't actually say the part about the OPness out loud))
Walrein turned his head, grimacing against the pain of the attack. He turned, though, retaliating with another Frost Breath. The attack didn't do much damage, Brycen knew.... but he would chip away at the pokemon's health bit by bit, until he used another Super Fang. It wasn't as though he had many options, after all.

Because I agree with what I put in Brycen's post-- a cheap victory is empty, and honestly, it's not really fair to the members if the Gym Leader's, who's moves are usually more ore less randomized in the games, are loaded with things that can be abused. I mean, two Walrein's that can put their opponents to sleep, cut their hp in half, and then hit them with a move with a guaranteed critical hit? I'd rather have the gym leaders play honorably, even if they're supposed to be trying to win, than act like trainers desperate for a victory and willing to do anything. And tbh, Super Fang is something we've discussed changing, too, and I don't want it to be the cause of a potential difference in outcome in this battle, only for it to be changed later, in a way that could have altered the effect of this battle. And oh, I know x3 That's why I put 'unspoken opinion'

Greninja knew that Simon wouldn't change the attack because the rest of his moves were water and battling a water Pokemon, it just didn't make sense. So without calling out a move Greninja got into position again, instead of doing the same motion he did a backflip, kicking out and sending the burst of psychic energy towards the Walrein. This time the move was effective in scoring a flinch.

"F...," Simon muttered since it was the Pokemon he just had a ton of trouble with. Returning Houndoom he once again sent out Greninja to blast it with another Extrasensory. He was hoping for a flinch however it didn't knock the Pokemon asunder.

"If you're going to fall asleep see if you can leave it with a burn, scald!" he called out and Greninja nodded launching out the attack again. Once again he was hoping the power of the move would cause a burn so that when he fall to sleep Walrein would still get hurt. The water was so hot that Walrein was burned.
