Ian was knocked on top of Justin when the giant swung at them again, likely hurting him even more. He felt stupid, useless, and so tired. How was this possible for a party?! He almost sobbed in pain as his hip and knee throbbed, a thick trail of blood from his forehead and a large gash on his thigh.
After pushing himself to his feet, Ian grabbed his fire iron and gathered himself. He was snapped into action by Cesc's cry, and dashed forward to take advantage of the vine the Sigel had pulled across the giant's legs. He jumped onto the stumbling behemoth and managed to climb a slight ways up its leg, stabbing the fire iron in as deep as he could manage. Its skin was thick, but he was pleased to see the entire pointed, flared head disappear. Unfortunately he slipped, falling to the ground. But as he went he did his best to keep a hold of the weapon, dragging it a ways down the giant's thigh before his hands fell away.

Suddenly, there was a tangle of limbs and a very red-haired shoujo flower prince landed squarely on top of Justin. It was only through some kind of miracle that Ian did not land on his left arm - the cut still bleeding steadily. He had only enough time to dazedly grasp at the man before the giant lashed out again, bringing another wave of pain. Cesc was doing well enough; the frei wielding his sword with a strange accuracy. Justin had been fairly useless, he knew, and felt a pang of guilt for his teammates. With a whoosh of chilled air, Ian was off of him and swinging. Justin simply struggled to his feet and stood, swaying a little as he leaned on his baseball bat. Lurching forward, he tried to swing as well. Anachrophobia i know Ian felled it, but rolling anyway

. . .The giant falls with a pained wail. Blood spurts from its legs as it descends to the ground, but when it lands, it sounds decisively hollow. From its wounds continues to pour a sweet honey, and from the substance blooms an array of flowers.
"Man, I bet on the wrong team."
A tomboyish fairy flies up to where you are. You recognize her only vaguely from the beginning of the Hedge Maze as one of the warlock's assistants, magicking about to make the maze up to par. She lands on top of the giant's corpse, barely reaching a foot, and takes a long minute to judge everyone's state of disrepair.
She clicks her tongue and waves her hand once. "Heal," she says-- and, with the gesture, all of you seem to be s**c-and-span and without injury.
"Y'know, you really can't die in here, so I expected a better performance! But," she takes out a small sheet of paper and hands it to your group, "Apparently, you need my help. Want me to make things a little easier?"
END BATTLE
Your team may choose only one option of the six below. Choose wisely!
Everyone must respond before your team rolls again and continues on with the next round.
BUFF: Help yourself. A. The fairy will return to give you supplies after every encounter. You can use these supplies at your will, so long as you specify it in a text post. The supply value will be determined by the fairy. B. The fairy will heal your entire party after every encounter.
DEBUFF: Hinder your enemies. C. The fairy will make your foes weaker. Halve all of your enemies' max HP. D. The fairy will make your foes frailer. Halve all of your enemies' attack rolls.
E. Ignore the fairy and choose nothing. F. Fight with us! The fairy will become a new party member. . . .

It was the work of a moment for the fairy to both appear and to make their wounds disappear. It cut off Cesc's dash toward the other two members of his team, ready to get them the hell out of there and to safety. But this -- well, the stag only looked down at himself and then back up at the creature, a half-smile on his face.
"Maybe not as battle-ready as one would expect," he said with a faint, relieved laugh. "It's good to see you -- and I wouldn't mind feeling like this after every ... terrifying thing that comes around, if that's fine by you."
Rhedefre was glad for the fairy's appearance. It filled him with a new sense of self-assurance, the proof that someone was looking over them.
"And we will do our best to make it less..." he searched for the proper word. "... pathetic."

Even as the giant fell, Justin toppled as well, slumping in the ground with a wet splish. He lay there, bleeding, except suddenly he wasn't bleeding anymore and he felt... fine. His head popped up, pale green eyes widening. He rolled onto his side and fingered his still blood-stained sleeve. "Well," he said to the fairy, his tone light and conversational (as if they hadn't just killed a huge giant(. "You could've helped us before. I don;'t believe we were ever informed on the contents of the maze, really, so it's hardly fair." He ran his hand through hair sticky with honey and grimaced. "I dunno - I think I'd like a little help, miss fairy."Anachrophobia the team chooses B - healing

Ian's headache was splitting, blood dripping down over his eye from the gash on his forehead, but it didn't appear to phase him. He stared into space from where he'd fallen to the ground, sitting with his knees bent and arms loose. He couldn't believe what had just happened, what they'd just done. He breathed heavily and finally blinked his eyes into focus when the fairy appeared, but his confidence took a hit. It had been pathetic. Only Cesc's efforts had truly paid off; he'd done the vast majority of the work while Ian and Justin laid around hurt and feeble.
But suddenly his wounds were healed, the aches in his hip and head were gone, and he got to his feet. He looked down at himself, chuckling as well as he looked at Cesc and Justin. He nodded in agreement, reaching down to help Justin up off the ground. "Yeah, I think I vote for the healing. Then we just have to make it through each...encounter." He glanced at the fairy, giving a short nod to affirm their choice.

. . .The fairy raises her brows at Justin, clearly unamused, then responds in kind by sticking out her tongue. "'Scuse me, honeycheeks, but remember how you signed up for a game? Play it." She gestures toward the Sigel and flicks her wings out, "I mean, this guy gets it. Swear it's the wings that make y'smarter, man."
She bows at Ian's final confirmation at the group's choice, then claps her hands. Her doing so seems to be more of a hindrance, as parts of the labyrinth walls that the giant destroyed are in place again. "Fine. See y'all later, then," she points toward all of them again, furrowing her brows sternly, "Don't suck again, 'kay?"
With that, she disappears. Your team can continue on its way! . . .

Cesc let out a sheepish sort of laugh and shook his head. The fairy seemed less than excited about their team, and similarly less than excited about having to help them, but hey -- he'd take it.
"Thank you," he called after the fairy. He turned toward what he thought had been a clear pathway but, alas. The hedge, rebuilt, stretched out in a wall before them, forcing the trio on another pathway.

Ian hesitated a moment or two after the fairy disappeared, letting out a heavy sigh. There was still blood on their clothes, and they were sticky from the giant's honey-blood, but they were alive and well. That, really, was all he could ask for. Even if they wouldn't actually die in the maze, it still wouldn't be a pleasant experience for anyone involved.
As Cesc headed down the pathway, Ian followed behind after making sure Justin was as well. But they didn't get far. He sighed again, remembering that he'd never really liked mazes as a child. Caroline had been much better at those, whereas he'd excelled in word searches and crosswords. Not to mention being in a maze was much different... "Well, that's a bit discouraging."

Justin mumbled several words after the fairy left and, if anyone were listening closely, they might hear some creative curses, 'pretentious', 'game', and the ever-disgusted 'honeycheeks'. Finally, he looked up and gestured at tjhe maze.
"Well, uh, let's keep on trucking. Cesc, you were really awesome and Ian - uh, thanks for trying tp protect me by falling on me." Blood dripped off his bat as he swung it over one shoulder., Despite having come perilously close to death, this was kind of like a video game after all. Justin even began to hum lightly as he looked around.

Ian laughed a little and looked sheepish when Justin thanked him. "I'm just glad we're all alright. That was...quite the gimmick." He chuckled a little and hefted his fire iron in his hand as they went down a different path, which went on for a while before ending in a hedge wall.
He stared up at it with a defeated sigh, shoulders sagging a little. "Another dead end. I think we passed another route, though." He turned around and looked back the way they'd come, then at Justin and Cesc.

"I'm not sure gimmick is the right word..." Justin still fussed with his hair, the honeyblood acting as a very weird sort of gel. He could likely twist it into pompadour if he so desired. He did not.
"I wish we could just chop through the hedge. Kind of wish one of use had a chainsaw, you know."

Cesc kept a smile on his face as they wandered, still holding the scimitar point-down by his side. Healed or no, he still didn't want to stick anyone accidentally with it.
"It wouldn't work, even if we did," he said, starting down the next junction. "Last time I was here -- I started to say -- we couldn't fly above the hedge and they'd regenerate if we tried to push through them. Some of them had vines that would try to grab you when you went by, so it wasn't a really great option, really."

[27] - T-junction
Justin rubbed his nose, but say anything else as the team warily moved onward. A t-junction stood in front of them.
"Why don't you two play rock paper scissors to see which way to go?" Justin waved at Cesc, who was closet to the right side of the junction anyway,. He looped his fingers around Ian's wrist top tug him towards the left. "Ian can be left and Cesc right, right? I kinda wish we had a walkthrough, though." He smiled, dimple popping in his cheek.

"Hm? Oh, sure," said Cesc, pulling himself to face Ian. He knew that regardless of which way they went, the maze would continue doing what it wanted to them-- and if it wanted them to be LOST, they would be. "We should've asked if she had a walkthrough. Okay: Rock, paper, scissors -- one, two, three!"
He held out a flat hand, paper.
