Dawn of Beautiful... Controversy?
So guess people have been upset that this patch is females only. To that I say umm so. Really this is no different than making any patch. The Justice League Patch required people to make Justice League heroes who would want to be members of the Justice League even if hesitantly. If we made a Teen Titans patch we would require those who join it to be teenagers. Same guys for an Alien patch that would require all legacies to be aliens. This patch was chosen strictly because it filled one of the legacy voids left out of the previous patch. Which was the availability of Female Legacies. Since most members of the Justice League are male and were taken by males. We didn't get to many Females to join in. So we made this Female patch to counter the male heroes. Which if you noticed it does so wonderfully. We have Aquaman and now his female counterpart Queen Mera. Batman and a female Bat family member the Huntress. Martian Manhunter and Miss Martian and so on. Those who are trying to say we are being biased in anyway are simply throwing a tissy. No one is saying you will never be able to make a male legacy. We are just saying these particular legacy must be female. In the future we will release another patch and a overspill and you will be able to make any gender you want. You want to make an a sexual alien Booster Gold Legacy. If you meet the requirements of the patch then go for it. Nobody will mind as long as you work within the rules of the guild.
On a side note. I have proof this Patch has proven effective. In that a friend of mine joined the guild on strict principle that a bunch of female legacies were opened to her. While she ended up taking a Legacy she previously owned. The vast options caused her to pause for a moment as because of this patch a bunch of legacies she was interested in were opened. So all I can say is be patient if you want to make a legacy that we currently aren't allowing. It will most likely come up soon and we allow for custom heroes to be traded in or maybe if you talk to a mod your custom hero can grow into and eventually become a legacy in rp. But bitching because your not getting what you want screaming about gender bias or some other thing. Makes you come out simple.
Starwind out! *drops mic*

Dawn of Beautiful... Controversy?
I spent too much time in the last couple days angry when I discovered that people were whining about a good thing. Excuse me for being blunt, but it is a good thing, and that's all that's happening, is whining. This is the first, and potentially only patch, where gender is being enforced. Why are we doing it? Because our DC world is dominated by males, and we as the mods decided that this might help even things out a little. It's not going to suddenly make everything perfectly even, but we have to start somewhere.
There were arguments about this patch suggesting that we don't care about equality, that because we're enforcing female characters in this patch, we're saying that no other genders matter. This is not true. We have no rules against making LGBT characters. We're not going to kick a member for making a gay character, or a trans character. I made Batman, who is easily one of the most iconic DC characters, bisexual and nobody had any problems with it. While I know sexuality and gender aren't the same topic, my point is that characters don't have to be straight and cis to be approved. The reason there are so many straight and cis characters in the guild are because that's how people choose to make them. We mods are not going to force someone to make a profile how they don't want it, as long as it follows the rules. A profile isn't going to be denied because the character is gay, or trans, or genderneutral. A profile will be denied and asked to be changed if their moral alignment is "neutral" because a side must be chosen.
Here at AATW, we strive for equality. This all-female patch is just one step along the way. Please understand that we are not trying to demean anyone, or say that those who aren't cisgender don't matter. This will not be our last patch, and in the meantime, people are still allowed to make custom heroes and custom villains that can be anything you want them to be, as long as they follow the rules. Being blunt again: Stop whining. We're not trying to cancel out your identification. That never has been, and never will be, our intention or goal.

Dawn of Beautiful Justice Controversy?
Before I can even fathom addressing the controversy surrounding the Beautiful Justice/Estrogen Overload Patches, there is one MAJOR and DISAPPOINTING concern that absolutely must be addressed. It has a simple name and title. Nothing fancy or glamorous. Simply put, it is respect.
I simply do not care about any of the following: - Your race - Your sex - Your gender identity - Your religion - etc. And that is simply because I do not discriminate based upon any of these factors. As such, I see no reason for any of these to be the basis of a conflict. That is two fold. No one in this guild will EVER personally say anything to you to intentionally offend you in any way or category. And if anyone does, you bring it to a moderator in a CALM and COURTEOUS fashion. I cannot make this any clearer. If you come at any member of this guild, guns blazing, breathing fire, thinking that you are the absolute exception, playing the sad little victim, you're done here. There is no place for you in this guild. Personally, I'd go farther than that, but this is me as a moderator for AATW.
You are expected to be mature, and mature individuals discuss issues calmly. Compromises are made. People hear each other out and do their best to form a resolution together for the issue. The minute you let rational thought, or appropriate communication go, is the moment you need to stop, back away, take a deep breath, and re-approach the issue with a cooler mindset. If you come at anyone with this hellfire attitude, or an unwillingness to discuss things calmly, then please expect to be met with the same attitude. And you will deserve it. And you will be punished for starting it. End of story.
Now, if I have offended you thus far, then good. It means that you were the target of this message, and it applies to you completely. Ask anyone here, anyone at all. I take no crap from anyone, especially anyone that tries to act tough or "high and mighty" over the internet. I am a military member. I have an almost 0 tolerance for bull. And if you waste my time with it, I will ensure that your time discussing the issues will feel as uncomfortable and as much of a waste to you as it does to me. Period.
SECONDLY, there are CREW and VICE CAPTAINS for a reason. You have an issue, bring it to a CREW member or VICE CAPTAIN first. Uchiha Roxas has enough on his plate without having to deal with every single tiny offense, issue, or question. There is more to running a guild than most people know. And yes. I do know. I've led multiple guilds, and to be honest, only one was as successful as this one, at least for a time. This is a personal request from me. Use your Crew members. Use your Vice Captains if needed. It's how the system is designed.
Now...on to the actual patch controversy.
I understand that not everyone is pleased that the possibility of a traditional male character is ruled out. Why? Because the guild has a hard lacking of female RPCs. Think of this as affirmative action for AATW. Female Legacies deserve the spotlight, as most heroes tend to be male anyway apparently. I have openly supported the creation of characters of any and all genders, sexualities, and gender identities. It makes roleplays even more interesting than they are as is. It makes characters more interesting. It only adds to what already makes AATW an amazing place full of friendship, activity, creativity, etc. There are very few things forced upon created characters. And you always have the option of creating CUSTOM heroes and villains.
The simple problem comes down to an issue of sensitivity with this. Nothing is being done to under privilege or hinder any group of people, regardless of their beliefs. Nothing in this guild, nothing created officially by the guild, is insulting or demeaning intentionally. If you find anything that you believe is so, and you can discuss it calmly and rationally, please contact ANY moderator. Despite my above "rant", I am a nice guy as well and I would be more than happy to talk about anything with you. Even just a random message just to chat. Also feel free to PM me about anything said here. smile

Congratulations! Aquos Dragoa!
Although there has been a lot of negative attitudes and feelings going on in the guild lately due to the Dawn of Beautiful Justice Controversy (and Mods WILL be continuing to post their own announcements after this); we at AATW do not dwell in doubt nor sorrow! In fact, congratulations and celebrations are in order!
I would like you all to join me in congratulating our Friend and Sister: Aquos Dragoa! Her contributions and dedication to the AATW community have earned my attention these past few weeks and I am happy to say that she has earned herself a Moderator Trial! She will be promoted to crew for a few weeks and we will evaluate her effectiveness and contributions to the mod team. If all goes well she will become a permanent Moderator!
Well done, Draga! You deserve it!

Dawn of Beautiful... Controversy?
This patch was supposed to be something simple; something quick, easy, and well-planned out in RP with a great storyline to it. It was going to allow more female RPCs to come into the guild and have fun with the rest of us. Now, with all the drama that's been going on (I say drama, but I really mean teenage angst, since this is beginning to remind me of high school), I feel obligated to actually get off my a** and do something. My feelings will be short, simple, and to the point.
Get. Over. It.
There will be other patches, there will be other opportunities to make any kind of character you want to make. Go be whatever you want, whoever you want, and do whatever you want to do so long as it follows in our rules. However, when you all start complaining because you can't make a Legacy in this patch a man, or whatever gender you want, then I'd hate to break it to you, but that's life. Tough call. You can make a custom villain named Dr.Fabulous who shoots rainbows from his eyes and wears nothing but glitter, you can make a custom hero who is male, female, alien, dog, cat, ANYTHING YOU WANT, but you want more. All you want to do is use a canon character's image and mold your character into it just because you like it's power sets, or what they stand for, and all we want to do is encourage another gender to come into the picture more, since we hardly have any Legacy women.
If that's all too much for you, then I'm sorry, but obviously you've got more problems going on in your lives than this patch.

Dawn of Beautiful.....Controversy?
So I come home from work to find out that a couple of members are bringing up the fact that they don't believe we're being fair. The thing is, we the crew of AATW won't do anything in this guild if we didn't have a good reason for it. And when it comes to the Legacy characters, it is a total sausage fest. Before the Dawn of Beautiful Justice, there were about 14 people that took up a Legacy. Out of all of them, only 2 are women, and one of them is only 13. We would of had three if we didn't gender bend Wonder Woman into Wonder Boy.
So can you understand why we are doing this? We want to open the doors for all kinds of characters. But honestly, you guys aren't taking advantage of the opportunity we are giving you. To quote a character from a popular MOBA "Change is good". And when I say change, I mean putting a bit of variety in your roleplaying experience. If you only play male characters, take the chance and roleplay as a woman this time.
There will be other patches, and these ones will open the doors for both male and female characters. But for the sake of balancing gender ratios among the Legacies, this patch is for female characters only, and it is honestly a futile effort to try to change that. So instead of resisting the patch, why not embrace it?

Dawn of Beautiful Justice: Controversy
Like my fellow mods, I have been disapproving of the defiance towards what we and an abundance of the guild see as a good thing. Promoting women in an overly male world. Look at it this way, the Original Patch had one female. But was made male. That was an ENTIRE patch of males and most of the overspills were men. Therefore, this is almost a perfect way to balance it back out and then have more equal patches to come.
I understand a part of the argument. Some people don't play female characters, personally I've never tried. But this is not an excuse to try to stop an experience created for the enjoyment of over 100 members just because you prefer roleplaying male RPC's.
Plus, if you're not into this specific Patch, why not embrace the plethora of opportunities we have at AATW. Leave you're own personal mark on the world with a custom hero, cause havoc with a new custom villain or strive for world domination with our selection of Big Bads in the Canon Villains Category. You have 1 villain and 1 hero. Why not make a villain and wait for a new patch, of which there will inevitably be one. Plus, Atlantean Villains are always fun these days. stare
This patch was a strive forward for gender equality within the guild and there will be more patches to sink you're teeth into so donnae worry!

Congratulations to Zach!
I know we shouldn't really celebrate the death of a character but I think that a celebration is in order for Uchiha Zakoichi whom has earned not only his first ever RP kill but also the first kill of AATW V2.
Well Done little brother! As a reward you will gain not only the points for the kill in our new system coming up after Dawn of Beautiful Justice but also an extra TWO [2] Bonus Points.
Zach is only 14 too, I have taught him well.
*is holding back tears of brotherly pride*

konaustin, Warning.
Kon, sorry mate but you're attitude is beyond unacceptable now. How dare you tell people to "Shut up" when it is none of your business. Just because you lost a fight and tried to GM out of it is not our problem.
I have been watching your behaviour for some time now and all in all it's DISGUSTING how you talk to some people and you should be ASHAMED of yourself and, personally, I'm NOT putting up with it anymore. You're an adult. I shouldn't have to be telling you to back off a 14 year old kid! I shouldn't have to listen to you moan and whine about the unfairness of something you had an easy way out of. All in all, I shouldn't have to listen to you not being able to take responsibility for your actions; this is your FIRST and FINAL warning. Should this ever occur again, I will not hesitate to ask you to leave the guild.
This guild is a place of relaxation and enjoyment. Not for you to throw your toys out the pram at people on skype, nor be rude, nor be a bad loser. You're on the cusp of ruining it for everyone else!
Sort yourself out. That is all.

LIKE A BOSS!
Although we call it new, it's not really that new at all. We have just completed and posted up the new rehashed Minion System from Generation 1 of the Guild to try and help some of the villains achieve their goals. If you want to take a look at what we're talking about click here. You may also want to listen to this as you do so.
I hope this is helpful and you enjoy it!
