Stallion Personality: Young and fierce, Parhelion is a stallion who is not afraid of taking chances. He isn't afraid of much, in point of fact. His training as a warrior has hardened him against some of the finer things in life, but every now and again something will sneak past his guard. For instance, he has a great love of flowers-- not that he'd admit to such. However, from time to time he can be found settled among them, basking in their scent. However, nothing quite trumps the heat of battle for him. Someday soon he's going to become a real warrior like the rest of his clan, and he has been eagerly awaiting that moment. At his core, he is a passionate young stallion, ready to take on a world that is too whimsical by half. He can be very, very jealous of the things that he considers his, and he protects them with every inch of his admittedly diminutive being.

Every day of Parhelion's life had been spent in preparation for this moment. When the sun crested the peaks to bathe the sky in golden hues, his trial would finally begin. He was anxious for its arrival, although he told himself that a certain stoicism was required for the task. His sire and dam had faced this trial in their time, and he would not fail them. It was a great honor to follow in their hoof falls. Though he was young yet, he had been as well prepared as could be expected. His training had been comprehensive. Every night he had been told tales of the herd's bravery and prowess, tales that he had sought above all things to emulate. Perhaps with luck and a great deal of skill he would some day be the inspiration for such stories. Perhaps young stallions and mares would listen to their sires and dames tell of his deeds.

He hoped to join his herd of champions in their victory over his own trial. He was soon to be a stallion in truth, if only he could succeed in the coming week. Seven rises and sets of the Sun would see him either a victor or a loser, with a reception to suit whichever he became. Parhelion did not intend to return to his herd a disgrace. He had many traits that he could use to his advantage, along with the training he'd received. He was small and agile. He could flit about, sneaking up behind the enemy, and strike when they least expected it. But he was no weakling! He would prove himself once and for all, and become the stallion his parents had always known he could be.

If only he could get through this night. If only he could make it through the week. Sleep beckoned, but he was too excited and too anxious to give in to its embrace. No, he would wait it out. He would wait it out, and out there among the dangers that lurked he would find a place to rest. The excitement that had blossomed when his trial had been announced had not yet ebbed, nor had the impending sense of fear. What if he failed? What would become of him if he could not even complete this task? But no. No, he could not give into the fear. His family believed in him. So would Parhelion.
