LimstelIa I personally hate the fact that the slates have gone up so high. But I also blame Flynn's plunder (if you'd take a look) because the rubyback lion is going on bid for 6bil. Yes...SIX BILLION. This will raise the abp of that fish from 700m to god knows what. I call out our fellow gaians on their greed. B< That is why I just cracked and started buying slates off the MP. Yeah, they are expensive, but I can usually generate enough gold to buy small batches and supplement with my poor fishing skills to make other boldurs and fish. I just can't flat out catch slates in Durem for whatever reason. It doesn't help that all the fish needed for them have also disappeared from the MP, but at least I can catch them. Though, I am working on getting my Angelic Rod (I have a long way to go), and I want to keep fishing Durem. So I think that after this quest is done, I am going to start placing what I catch in the MP at drastically reduced costs and see if I can help other fishers/alchemists. Cause seriously, the inflation on fish and alchemy parts is ridiculous.

Might I introduce you to a feedback page of opinions where people who actually worked there. Its sad to see how they feel more compassion to the users then gaia itself. Reviews from former employees who left due to gaia's new ceo's actions.

Gaia was their baby, so to speak. A lot of the artists and programmers really loved this site back in the day. I miss having a lot of them around as a good majority were pretty active in the forums back in the day. smile And by conspiracy, I meant the really crazy "out there" ideas. Not that Gaia is simply trying to force all of us to go to a pay to play site (because that seems pretty obvious).

but I wanted to ask: what do you guys mean by "accepting" the bids?
I thought the seller puts the item for auction, the buyer(s) place their bids and the last man standing gets the item?

I thought the seller puts the item for auction, the buyer(s) place their bids and the last man standing gets the item? Once a bid has been placed, the seller has the option to close the bidding early, with the current high bid winning it.

To speak on the conspiracy theories....one of the ones I truly hold fast to a belief in, just as a site feedback forum regular (ahem....thread that's in my sig XD With a ton of votes), is the fact that by the constant releases of the gold generators, the value of gold is going to eventually become worthless, therefore if anyone, especially newbies, have a shot at being 'rich' or having a 'nice avy,' then they'll almost be forced into buying cash. Seriously, if you joined the site right now...wouldn't you feel almost helpless to earn gold, just from how pricey everything is? It's not easy to earn gold the old fashioned way, or at the very least a lot more time consuming. Gold generators are instant gratification. They're the easy way to earn gold without having to do much at all. It's more enticing to do that than to try & sit there for hours to fish, be in towns, etc. So....it wouldn't surprise me at all. They're monetizing the site. Except it can't be classified as 'pay to play' since they still offer free stuff. It's just...sort of seen as 'pay to have anything nice' XD
It bugs me a lot. The fact that all of the threads in the SF forum have fallen on deaf ears (just as they did when Flynn was causing chaos) leads me to believe that this will continue, not only since it earns them a buttload more money, but also because...well, the new owner/CEO/whatever, isn't someone with any background in running a site like this. Plenty of people have looked him up & have found out that he has no background in any gaming sites or anything akin to gaia. But, I digress.
Also, to whoever posted those reviews from glassdoor or whatever that site is...I don't know how much stock I'd place in them since you don't have to prove that you've worked at any said place to post a review like that on there. Anyone could do it. However, since I've been around since '03 (on various accounts), I was good friends with a few past mods who left &/or were let go when management was changing around...& I know they weren't happy with the direction it was going. & that was way before this mess. I also had no idea that Uncle Kenny left? I just found that out, maybe since I was living under a rock XD That makes me sad, since I really enjoyed him & he was one of the last remaining mods who I felt was in our corner & actually would speak with you. I've tried with people like Zero Omega & Sisky....I get absolutely nothing in return. & Forget Narumi. Oy. Sorry, semi long rant, but I saw that post & couldn't help but chime in.
I don't doubt that this site is going to cease to exist after awhile, since you can only squeeze so much money out of people before they've had enough. I dunno. It also makes me sad that in the new update of the ToS (Dec. 2013), that they can apparently just terminate your account for absolutely no reason whatsoever & not even have to tell you. Not only that, but there are multiple clauses in there that if the site should cease to exist, for whatever reason, that you won't get any monetary investment back. So I wouldn't be someone spending hundreds on this site when its sort of...in a bad state >>; MCs, sure, I like buying those. Even the item generators at random when I get enough from free offers/videos, but....not a lot of money since I never saw that in the ToS before & it sort of looks like they're just finding legal ways to (excuse my french) cover their a**. >>;
But anyway. Yea, I guess I'm going to be forced to pay for bolders, since I suck at fishing in durem, & have no mouse, so using my laptop pad is especially difficult. plus I don't have the time to dedicate to get better XD 5 down, 995 to go ;D
(Sorry that this was hella long. Just realized how much I ranted. Guess I'm blaming that on a long, tiring, shitty day at work making coffee for self-righteous little pricks. Seriously, stfu to some Starbucks customers >>; No need for ten gallons of caramel drizzle on your drink XD & then no tip. Grr).
