Taym hadn't learned this lesson, but he was smart enough to realize what Bix's tone implied and to propel himself into a generally not-in-firing-range direction, slicing something as he did so and feeling vaguely surprised that he had to withdraw his knife from something solid, given that he was almost certain that whatever it was, it wasn't real.

Hallucinogens were a pretty average part of Taym's pre-Deus life. He clung to this thought for all that it was worth, which wasn't very much.

Jordan stepped back as the arrows came raining down. Something squashed under his foot, slipped, slid disgustingly, and he lost his balance; he brought Ferros down hard against the ground to keep from falling. His foot stung sharply, as though he'd stepped into some acidic medium, but when he looked for what he had stepped on, nothing was there.

"We got this.." Bix glanced at the guys, seeing Jordan getting up and Taym almost but not quite helping him. At least the man had polite instincts which did say something about him as a person.

The half-visible figures seemed to weaken, the hallucinogen not as potent. He figured they were winning but there was no way to tell. It weakened them almost as much as they dished out damage. Bix was feeling it now and was sure the other were as well. Taym, at a lower power level, may be feeling it even more so.

"You guys holding up?" He faced Obadiah. "Duck." Bix quickly fired over the other's shoulder, and if Taym wasn't fast enough he'd feel a warm breeze as the energy arrows zipped past his face.

"Fine," was Taym's barked answer, but his sudden stumble suggested otherwise, and he fell back coughing, but waved his free hand in the universal "don't you say a ******** thing because I'm fine just give me a second" gesture known instinctively to all mankind.

I want to flame, Ferros hissed.

Jordan eyed the fog around them assessingly. His head felt clearer, and the haze seemed thinner, wavering in places. Hold onto that, he said. You can flame if it doesn't go down with another couple of hits.

An indistinct figure lurched through the fog towards them, dripping and trailing bits of itself. Jordan brought Ferros around and into the thing's face. It dissolved, and as it slumped into nothingness, the haze of gases cleared, sinking towards the ground and dissipating.

Ferros seethed restlessly in Jordan's head. He took a cautious look around. When nothing else appeared to threaten the group immediately, he relaxed slightly, though he stayed alert. "Ferros still has a charge," he said to Bix and Taym. "Either of you feeling thin on shield? We can heal."

"I'm good I think.." Bix was still at the ready, waiting quietly if only for a few more heartbeats until the hallucinogen seemed to fully seep away and they were left with nothing but the creepy noises of wind and abandoned equipment.

"And I think the coast is clear." He straightened, Mina unsummoned back to a small leather pouch with a white feathered drawstring. He tossed her a moment before she got tucked inside of his pocket.

Bix reached under his collar for his pendant. "I think it's safe to head back and file our reports." He was currently debating whether he should take Taym aside and speak to him about his goading of Jordan or if he should let it go.

Ssshow him whossss the boss Mina purred to him.

So Taym's weapon had a healing charge as well. Jordan stored that information away, and realized after a moment that he didn't know the blade's name, nor in fact anything about it, or whether the bond was comfortable or strained. Ferros shared the momentary edge of sadness that thought caused.

He nodded to the statements that neither of them needed healing, and with a thought to Ferros, held the hammer up in front of him. Steam hissed from the glowing cracks in the weapon's barrel and wreathed around him briefly, soothing away the tiredness of a worn-thin shield. When it had cleared, he desummoned Ferros.

"We should check to see if the bodies are still there, or if they were illusory," he said.

Taym, too, had gone silently at Jordan's suggestion to go take a look at the last body he'd seen, and on finding nothing there made a wordless noise in the affirmative confirming Bix's observations. He was visibly, instantly relieved.

He hesitated before he was willing to go, eyeing first Bix and then Jordan and then, rather abruptly, sticking out a cold, skinny hand for the latter. It wasn't exactly so straightforward as calling a truce--doubtless there'd be more antagonism and smart a** comments the next time they got stuck together and doubtless Taym still viewed him as something less than completely human--but Taym was prepared to acknowledge that Jordan was better than the people he kept company with, and better, maybe, than the things that made Taym hate him.

Or maybe he just had a suspicion, after Bix's dad-voice, that Bix was going to be eyeing the teammate assessment portion of the mission report with Taym's name at the forefront of his thoughts and a poison pen in hand. Either way, a handshake was offered. <********' paparazzi," he said to Bix as he did so, dry and sarcastic.
