Town Square,
Okami was making her rounds around the town, making sure it was safe and peaceful.
Malum, the handsome shadow elf, watched the people of Kuro Shiro as they went about their day in the town square. In the square's crowd, the very much normal pickpocket and nomad
Leticia was making her rounds stealing money from people's wallets while the magical thief
Mikora flew around the square in the form of a crow for the very same reason. The tiger shapeshifter
Axel and his siblings caused another ruckus with his sisters playing in the Two-headed Dragon Fountain while his baby twin brothers knock over the beautiful forest elf
Aura, prompting
Axel to rush over and apologize to her. He introduces himself and his siblings to
Aura while
Okami grumbles in disbelief as
Axel flirted his way into
Aura's heart after just breaking up with his latest girlfriend (though he had no intention of flirting).
Leticia was shocked to see tiger cubs swimming in the fountain and transforming into humans; she was ready to leave town until the witch
Malak shouted for
Axel to either ask
Aura out on a date already or leave because she was fed up with watching them flirting in the middle of the town square.
Bolstered by
Malak's outburst,
Leticia shouted to
Axel,
"Kiss the damn girl. She has a fine a**," which embarrasses
Aura to the point where she shapeshifts into a leopard and runs away down an alley.
Okami makes a snide remark to
Axel about packing up his little tiger clan and how it's okay to lose on girl out of many (alluding to the fact
Axel is well-known in town for breaking hearts, both boys and girls alike). Snapping at his misbehaving siblings to get packing,
Axel told
Okami she didn't run the town (which she technically did until her big sisters showed up) before transforming into a tiger and running after
Aura.
After
Aura ran away,
Malak left for
Kuro Shiro Beach, hoping to read her novel in peace and far away from the noisy Theron cubs. At the beach, Malak stumbles upon exhausted kitten
Mea'eshana in a washed up dingy that was brought to the shore by a recent storm. The witch is examining
Mea,
Ollor the wind spirit breezes onto shore, carrying the spiteful and crossed spirit of the Sahara,
Nasuada, after a long trip over the world's oceans. As
Ollor tries to pacify
Nasuada (while reigning in his angry toward the rude sand spirit) when he notices
Malak staring down at
Mea in the boat. The wind spirit apologizes to the large kitten for her current state because he was the one who created the storm winds which caused much of the damage to her boat. He asks if she's hurt because of his storm and
Malak replies that obviously the kitten is hurt from his storm. Then the witch asks,
What's up with you and Mrs. Sahara? She looks pissed off to say the least. Did you have a bad date or something? Earlier today, it sounded like a water elemental and a couple of dragons had a bad group date, too." And thus she fills him in on the interesting events in town while being a complete a** about it before saying she would take the kitten to the veterinarian's office or the hospital—if she could pick up the heavy kitten again.
Ollor assured
Malak that he wasn't on any date with
Nasuada and not to mention water elementals in front of her, or else she'd see an even angrier side of the sand spirit. Then he offers to help
Malak carry
Mea when
Nasuada reminds
Ollor that their agreement included transportation
and escort to which the wind spirit assured her that he hadn't forgotten and that her escort would arrive shortly.
Miko joins
Malum on the rooftop, abandoning her search for easy pickings, and chats with him about the commotion in the square and the dragons that made their presence in town known.
Miko discusses, as much as she can with her injured throat, the treasure the dragons likely have stored somewhere and how she would be terrified to wake up a dragon, though
Malum was looking forward to meeting one. Then
Malum hinted to
Miko that she might need to find a new profession (thievery) because of the influx of thieves in town, though
Miko dismisses his suggestion because the more thieves, the more people to distract the authorities. While the two of them chatted on the rooftop,
Okami approached
Leticia and introduced herself. The two of them discuss Kuro Shiro,
Okami's strange name, her relationship with the founders, and why everything in town is crazy and definitely not normal.
Leti wonders, if everyone is super special and magical, why she ended up in town when she was an ordinary thief on the run from crazy, obsessive ex-boyfriends.
Meanwhile, in the alley,
Axel apologized again, both for his siblings' behavior and the embarrassment he caused her because of his reputation. Then they discuss their families: Why
Axel is always forced by his parents to watch over his younger siblings and take them shopping with him even though they all know what trouble they'll cause; the reason behind
Aura's ability to transform into many different animals; and why
Aura lived alone in Kuro Shiro instead of with a relative because she said elves have large families.
Just then, invitations for a masquerade ball hosted at Kuro Shiro Manor to welcome back the namesakes and owners of the town,
Kuro and
Shiro Wilde, appeared all over the square and in all the buildings. When
Okami reads the invitation, as a way of explaining the weird happenings in town, she is relaxed and happy until she read the lines pertaining to
Kuro and
Shiro Wilde, angry at them for claiming to own the town, though calming enough to say she'll have to buy a dress for the party. As
Okami handed the invitation to
Leti,
Malum sent a shadow-crow to fetch the paper from the young women, frightening
Leti before she tries to rationalize the reason behind
Okami's supposed sisters; and
Malum summarizes the situation of the invitation to
Miko. He entices her with the prospect of easy pickings at the party and she invites him to be her accomplice, but he turns her down because they will be wearing masks and no one knows what anyone will be wearing. Shrugging off his refusal,
Miko bids
Malum farewell and transforms into a crow, flying down to
Ollor, the wind spirit, to ask about her brother,
Lucien.
Back at the beach, the sand spirit's escort,
Lucien Tokeran arrived on the winds, apologizing to
Ollor for his tardiness and informed him of the town heiresses' return, the masquerade ball invitations, and how vivid
Okami was upon learning of the so-called returned heiresses. Then
Lucien tried to properly greet
Nasuada, but the spirit of the Sahara dismissed his pleasantries, noting the only improvement of meeting him was that she could see him, and then asked if he was her escort. Ever smiling,
Lucien properly introduced himself to the spirit and said,
"Yes, my name is Lucien Tokeran, and I am your escort for your stay here in this town. Ollor thought you might like a face to speak with." With a playful smile,
Lucien thought how
Ollor was correct in asking him to take on
Nasuada before extending his elbow for her to grab as he asked,
"Shall we go?" However, before
Nasuada and
Lucien left,
Malak remarked about the Wilde twins and how it would be disrespectful for
Nasuada not to properly pay her respects to the twins, hinting at a possible curse (which was highly unlikely) and noting how the people of Africa are trying to reduce the size of the Sahara. Then the witch leaves with
Ollor and
Mea to the Town Square.
Nasuada harrumphed and dismissed the witch's advice until she started thinking about the possible curse. She decided, for her best interests, that she would attend the party and informed
Lucien about her decision, saying,
"I've made my mind up, take me to the nearest store for clothing, consider it part of this tour you will be giving me." Complying with her,
Lucien suggested a perfect clothing place he knew and the quickest way to escort her by turning into a gentle breeze while inwardly smiling, using the opportunity to make the sand spirit uncomfortable as a little bit of revenge for her treatment of
Ollor. The sand spirit concedes and allows the wind spirit to whisk her away to
Quirky's Clothing. As everyone is leaving,
Alexis Silverstone strolls by in her cat form, watching them and the giant kitten they take away before leaving for the hotel where she checks in.
At
Kuro Forest, the celestial twins
Sol and
Luna Estrella were enjoying a stroll through the trees while dragon
Lizbeth Crimson Topaz Flame enjoyed the day as she sat relaxed beside the water when the sound of fighting gained the attention of the three. The water elemental
Aoi Zaya was evading the angry dragon,
Fuyuki Hiryū, as the dragon chased after him under the misunderstanding that
Aoi still worked for the enemy dragon clan, the Kuò.
Aoi tried to convince
Fuyuki that he didn't work for the Kuò Clan, but
Fuyuki refused to believe him. Eventually,
Aoi blasts a torrent of water at the dragon and causes damage to the forest, which is what alerted the other three.
Aoi, who was jumping through the trees to avoid being hit, fell out of the tree he was in because
Fuyuki broke the branch he was on, causing the water elemental to land beside the startled twins. When
Sol, using his powers to assess the injuries to the fallen man, saw that after falling out of a tree hundreds of feet high,
Aoi was alive, said the injured elemental,
"I am surprised you aren't dead. Luna, you have anything to help?" Luna, in response, blankly stared at the injured man and pulled out some bandages, giving them to her brother and noting that they wouldn't help considering
Aoi was coughing up blood. Then she introduced herself and Sol to Aoi: "I am Luna, this is Sol. If you aren't dead, I assume you aren't normal and you will be fine, but if you feel weak keep talking." Aoi, for his part, smiled, trying to put the Celestial twins at ease. He introduced himself and informed them he was immortal, so bandages were a waste on him.
As he spoke, the angry crimson dragon Topaz flew over to the mess created by Aoi and Fuyuki and roared, "What is wrong with you?! I am trying to relax!" Fuming, she leaped into a tree and turned into a human teenager, further chastising the troublemakers: "I was really enjoying things and here you are, going to catch the whole damn forest on fire with people in it. What is wrong with you? Were you raised in a barn? Ruining such a pretty day like this you should be ashamed of upsetting people, especially a lady of any sort." Far from the mood to engage in further violence, Aoi excused himself of the twins' company and stood up to the angry Topaz, apologizing for his actions. "My apologies, Madame, Mr. Hiryū had a large misunderstanding. It was entirely on my part. I will keep him under control, so please may I have the honor of allowing you to relax again." As he spoke, the injured elemental forced himself from coughing up blood while he quenched the flames that were eating the forest and froze Fuyuki in a casing of ice, leaving only the dragon's head freed. "Please forgive me for my carelessness." As for Fuyuki, the young dragon calmed down as his body and mind slowly cooled down because of the freezing ice. Topaz relaxed as the immortal elemental apologized and put the white dragon on ice, though she didn't like being spoken to so formally and asked to be called Topaz...or Lizzy before she stuck out her tongue and winked at him. Then she said to him as she stared at the white dragon:"It wasn't you making all the ruckus though it was this big brute. But I do not like ice and I doubt he does, so would you kindly let him go. Perhaps he will listen to you now. If not, I can always pin you two down and make you listen to each other. Then maybe I can go find someplace that doesn't smell like ash and mud for me to hang out in, hmm?"
Now at Quirky's Clothing, Nasuada gathered up her sand and made sure every spec of her sand arrived with her while silently being impressed that Lucien knew what he was doing. Though she'd didn't admit it aloud, she only rudely said, "Well you apparently have some sort of control over your wind, unlike that brute of a master you have." Lucien, for his part, took the time to reform from his breeze form to punish the sand spirit for her rudeness as well as to have a face for when he would properly respond to her words. Once fully formed, the ever-polite wind spirit said, "Thank you for the praise, however Ollor is not my master, merely a friend I often do favors for. As for brutish behavior, you must understand that Ollor is quite a large wind that covers quite a large area, it's unusual for him to confine himself into a small area for any length of time." The sand spirit harrumphed at him again, which caused a flash of annoyance to cross his face, though she did not notice. He informed her to take her time selecting a gown to wear and to remember to select as mask as well because it was a masquerade ball. The wind spirit than said he would be on the other side of the store searching for new items to go with his suit.
In the alley, Axel and Aura are in their own little world, they do not notice the invitation that magically appeared on the walls of the slimy alley because they are so absorbed in each other. Aura explained how she was the black sheep in her family, which lead her to leave home and travel the world alone. Axel assured her that, black sheep or not, he and the people of Kuro Shiro were her new family despite being "a very tight-knit community of busybodies and jackasses, especially Malak Ahmad." Then he finally notices the invitations all around them and pulls one off the wall, giving his commentary about the Wilde sisters and a quick history lesson about the town's name. Axel asks Aura if she would attend the ball because he would. Aura said she would, but she would have to hide her pointy ears because what's the point of wearing a mask if everyone can tell who you are by something like whether you have pointy ears or not? Axel, flirtatious as ever and without realizing it, leaned in close to Aura to explain how he'll just use his nose to smell her out rather than searching for her cute ears before returning to his own personal space and promising to make it easy for her to find him at the ball so they could hang out and have a couple cups of wine.
