Lirilei
Sick Room
(Jacen is sick, and Briar and Draven find their stars!)

It was one of those days where one thing after another kept coming up and keeping Colby busy. First of course there was breakfast, then Briar in her excitement managed to knock over a lamp and break it meaning Molly had to stay put while he cleaned it up. Then there was some phone calls that came in, and Briar knocking over a plant and strewing soil around. Which meant once again Molly had to sit still while things were cleaned up.

There was so much going on that it took Colby awhile to realize that a member of the family was still in bed! Of course he knew everyone slept in once in awhile if they were able, so he hadn't thought anything of Jacen sleeping through breakfast. But it was as he cleaned up from lunch that he realized the poke-child still hadn't come out of his room. Drying his hands on a dish towel he decided he'd better go check on him then, and moved through the house and knocked lightly on the proper door. "Jacen?"

"Papa?" The response was faint and barely audible, followed by a series of coughs. The vanilite boy was feeling sickly, shivering in his bed: he felt as if he had been sunburnt rather than laying in bed. He gave another cough, wiping at his forehead in a vain attempt to stop sweating. Why did he feel like he was in an oven? Why did he feel so hot, but when he removed his blankets he felt as if he was in the artic? Papa was there though. He'd make it all better.

The quiet response of course had Colby moving into the room and quickly lips pressing together a moment as he looked at the boy laying there. He didn't look good at all. "I think you need a cool bath Jacen...I think you're sick." he looked it...but he wasn't sure, he'd never dealt with a sick pokemon...let alone poke-human! Did he call a pokemon doctor? A human one? He was uncertain honestly.

Jacen just nodded, seemingly unwilling to get out of bed. He gave another cough, reaching for Colby's hand. "Like Molly was," he recalled. He remembered wanting to help her. He'd been a Pokemon then: the glittering star under her bed had seemed like a medicine from the angels, until he had touched it. "So hot..."

"That's what I was afraid of...and you being hot being an ice type is bad." very bad. He took the boys hand and his eyes widened. "You're burning up Jacen!" Molly heard the yell and came as quickly as she could. "Papa? Is Jacen okay?" "No Molly, he's very sick." "Like I was?" "Yes sweetie. I'm going to give him a cold bath to bring down his fever." "Can I help papa?" "He needs cold water to drink." "I'll get it papa!" and off she ran....only to trip over Briar who had been trying to get out of the way. Briar let out a squeal as her tail was smashed, and Molly let out a note of surprise as she started to fall. Colby had his hands full with Jacen and couldn't do more than give a helpless cry of "Molly!"

"Burning..." Jacen muttered in agreement. He gave his father's hand a squeeze. He had the utmost faith that his father knew what he was doing. He could fix this. Papa always knew what to do. "Molly?" He asked, looking around for his one time trainer. He jerked up and climbed out of bed, nearly falling in the process. His expression was pained. He wasn't able to help Molly this time. But someone else was. Draven caught Molly, scolding her with a "Nite, drag no!" And a shake of one clawed finger. He carried her out into the kitchen and set her down by the sink. Then the dragonite went to check Briar.

Colby caught Jacen as he fell knowing that out of the two of them, Jacen needed him more than Molly at this point. Molly had fallen plenty of times, and where she was falling at, there was nothing to get hurt on save maybe hitting a wall on the way down. Still he was worried about her too even as he held Jacen carefully, feeling how wet the boy was from what he assumed was sweat.

Relief crossed his face as Draven caught her, a slight smile at the scolding. He had to admit, in the weeks since they'd shown up things had gotten easier in a way. Draven kept an eye on Molly when he couldn't, and even the pachirisu...well she didn't cause too much trouble. Usually.

Molly gasped as she was caught. clinging to Draven's arms and hugged him even as he scolded. "Thank you Dragonite!" of course she hadn't named either of them. They were her dad's pokemon and he called them by their species so she did the same.

Briar was fine, more relieved Molly was okay!

Jacen leaned against Colby, wrapping his arms around his father's neck. "I'm so hot, Papa," he complained. Was it normal to sweat so much? He never had, as a Pokemon. "Molly's okay?" He asked, more concerned about her safety than his. In a way he still considered her his trainer. He needed to protect her. Draven fretted over Briar, despite her words. "I wish I wasn't so big," he said. "I want to protect you and be with you, always."

"She's okay Jacen, Draven caught her and set her down." he carried the boy into the bathroom and held him close as he ran a cool bath for him. He didn't want it too cold, but cold enough he'd cool off. "Alright...in you go, clothes and all at this point. We can get those off in awhile. More important to get you in this cold bath. I swear you're melting Jacen." which was a very BAD thing!

Briar couldn't help but smile at his fretting. she looked towards Molly. subject change? Just slightly.

Melting? The vanilite was immediately alarmed, blue eyes wide in horror. "M-melting?" He stammered, giving a shiver. Could he melt? Was that possible? "Papa... Am I dying?" He asked. He couldn't die! He had to take care of Molly! He was her Pokemon!

Draven scooped Briar up into his arms. "We both can," he said. He carried the pacirisu to the kitchen and set her down on the cupboard. He handed her an empty glass.

Colby hugged him tightly to himself. "No, you're not dying Jacen you're just very very sick right now." he carefully laid the boy into the cold water, hoping it was cold enough for him. But it really didn't feel that cold after a few moments. "Ice...I need ice cubes for this water..." words muttered to himself. Something to cool Jacen down!

Briar held on as she was scooped up and held onto the glass tightly as Molly listened to the noises both from the pokemon and from the bathroom. "Papa said something about needing ice...maybe the water for Jacen?" Molly could hear the cabinet opening, the sound of the glass clinking lightly on the counter top. So she knew Draven was getting the water. "I gotta help Jacen!"

Draven recognized the word ice. He went to the freezer and handed Molly two ice trays. He patted her on the head and directed her towards the bathroom. "Nite, dragonite!" Oh, he wished he could do more!
Jacen laid in the water, shivering at the sudden cold. He adjusted quickly, though, and slowly sat up. "I know I'll be okay if you say I will, Papa," he gave Colby a small smile.

Molly felt the ice trays and held them tightly with one hand, even as Briar nudged the cold glass against her other hand. "Thank you!" and there she went, carefully making her way back to the bathroom. "Papa..I have water and ice!" Colby looked up and gave a relieved smile taking both from her. "Thank you Molly." She looked in Jacen's general direction hearing the noise in the water. "You'll be okay Jacen! Papa, and me, and dragonite and pachirisu'll all take good care of you!" of course they would.

Briar though sighed again. "Being so small sucks. I can't help do anything...and when I try I make a bigger mess of things." "You helped Jacen," Draven insisted with a slight frown. "And Molly's bigger than you, but she can't do much to help. Size doesn't matter." The dragonite sighed. "What matters is your heart. And I know it better than anyone."

"You helped Jacen," Draven insisted with a slight frown. "And Molly's bigger than you, but she can't do much to help. Size doesn't matter." The dragonite sighed. "What matters is your heart. And I know it better than anyone."

Jacen reached out a hand to grasp Molly's. "You've always taken good care of me, Molly," he said. Even when she'd tried to name him Sweetie. Blegh!

"Not as much as I want to...and Molly helps more than I do, even not being able to do much. Not her fault she's blind." Briar sighed again, giving Draven a weak smile. "Maybe you're right. I don't know. I feel like I'm in the way so much though. I'm so small Molly doesn't hear me moving around and trips on me...but when I try to get out of the way I break things and make it dangerous for her. I'm a menace." how sad she sounded!

There was a soft giggle from Molly as her hand was taken. "You're all wet!" "And cooling down too which is good. I'm still adding in this ice." and Colby did turn the trays open and crack the ice the cubes plopping into the water. "This'll help you more."

Draven shook his head. "You're not a menace. Its not your fault you're small, just like it isn't Molly's fault she's blind. You're just as important. ...More important, to me." Draven awkwardly looked away from Briar then, and out the kitchen window.

Jacen let his hand slip from Molly's. His fever was going down at a rapid pace, which caused him to become tired. How long had he laid in bed, staring at the ceiling? He started to slip under the water

Of course Briar was oblivious to Draven's deeper feelings as she reached out and patted his arm. "You're my best friend, so you're the most important to me too. You've meant a lot to me, for a long time." she gave a soft sigh, and jumped down off the counter finally as he looked out the window. Maybe she'd go outside for a little bit. Colby had installed a little doggy door for her...or in this case a Pachirisu door...and it was where she went, slipping through the flap...and unintentionally into Draven's line of sight as she caught the glimmer of something off in an over grown corner of the backyard, which caught her attention and had her moving towards it. "What's that? Nothing should be shining over here..." she crept closer, wondering what could be so bright in such a dim location!

Of course all of this took place where she could be seen by Draven....much as her suddenly collapsing to the ground for no reason could be seen from that window. She'd reached for the shiny...only to touch it and fall, eyes shut tightly.

Molly let Jacen's hand go as it slipped loose, she didn't know any better. Colby turned back to the tub after setting aside the ice trays in time to see Jacen going under and his arm shot out and carefully pulled the boys head up above the water. "Whoa...Jacen c'mon son wake up...if you're not careful you'll drown. Think you're ready to go back to bed? I'll get you out and dried up and you can sit and wait while I change your sheets and set up a fan to keep you cooled down."

Draven immediately panicked, and practically flew out the door and to the pacirisu's side. He picked her up carefully. What had happened? And why had she gone out in the first place? She had made her feelings for him perfectly clear.. He was her best friend. No matter how much he wished, he doubted he could change that. He loved her!
Jacen stirred, frowning slightly. Did they have to wake him? He had finally gotten comfortable. "Nnn.. Papa," he whined, attempting to turn onto his side. He didn't want to move. He was comfortable... Drown? "'M awake," he muttered.

The pachirisu was not having any sort of pleasant and quiet sleeping experience. Furthest from. She was laying there mumbling away fretfully under her breath, looking agitated in her otherwise unconscious state. "...gotta tell him....lied...." the words sighed. "...not friend..." she fell silent for a long moment even as she shifted and sort of pressed against Draven. "....love him....m'Draven..." that was one way to go about things. Still a part of her, while she loved him, didn't feel like she was the best for him. She was so tiny! But oh did she ever love him!

Colby held him up for a bit above the water. Molly had already exited the bathroom. She could undo Jacen's bedding! So she worked on that quickly the soaked sheets set to the side. "Papa, his bed is soaked...he can lay in my bed it's okay." she called out then. "If you're sure Molly..." "I am papa." and she was off, her bedding turned down as Colby drained the tub and reached for a towel. "Up we go."

Draven stiffened. She'd lied? But why? Why would she lie? Wasn't how he felt obvious? "Don't worry, Briar," he assured the sleeping the pacirisu. "I'll take care of you." He noticed something on the ground and paused. A star? A shining, glittery thing. Maybe Colby would like it! He shifted Briar to one arm and picked it up--he found his eyelids growing heavy, and laid down. Eh. Gift giving could wait.

Jacen found he was just as comfortable in Colby's arms as he had been in the water. The sleepy vanilite child quickly wrapped his arms around Colby's neck, leaning his head on the man's shoulder. "Sleepy," he muttered, watching Colby reach for a towel through half closed eyes.

Of course she was unaware of her little confession...or of the fact she'd have to answer some questions once they both woke back up...but for the moment she laid there curled up on Draven, her tail curled over her and slumbered blissfully unaware of all the changes coming to her life soon.

Colby got Jacen wrapped in the towel, and carefully worked on drying him up, and getting him out of his wet clothes before carrying him to his room long enough for some light shorts before the boy was tucked into Molly's bed, a small fan turned on and aimed at him. "I'll stay in here in case he needs anything papa." "Alright Molly. Come find me if he does." "I will papa, promise."

Hey Journal,

Its me, Jacen. You won't believe how irritating it is being back in our house. Well, let me explain. I'm glad we're back home, but its the nurse who came with us that I can't stand. She's so... nice. I can't really find anything bad about her, journal. That's the trouble! I'm sure she's some villian. No one is that nice. Sure she acts nice, and she tells good stories and bakes good cookies. I haven't been poisoned yet, at least. But I think there must be a motive behind all of this. She goes beyond what I think a nurse does. Her job is to take care of Papa and Molly, but she goes out of her way to talk to me too.

Like she actually cares, or something. She asks me if I'm feeling alright, she asked me if I wanted to talk earlier, over hot chocolate. I told her I can't drink it. Honestly, does she want me to melt?

She told Molly that when she's better, she'll take her for a ride on her ponyta. When I expressed concerns that Molly could be burnt, the stupid nurse told me that ponyta never burn people they trust, and that she can tell him--apparently she hasn't named him; honestly who keeps a Pokemon and doesn't give them a name? You know, besides Papa, but he's not evil, so... Anyway, she said she can tell him not to burn Molly because she's a friend. I told Molly to be careful all the same. I don't trust fire Pokemon.

I wonder when Papa will get a new nurse. I hope he doesn't want to keep this one; and that he doesn't get a nasty one like Molly's first nurse. Maybe one of them will be a guy! Maybe they'll know how to set up a train track and surprise Papa with it. I bought it with the money I'm earning from the club. I hope he likes it! Its almost Christmas, so I'm going to set it up around the Christmas tree. If we get one. Maybe I'll ask Brie to get me one. At least that'd be useful.

O Christmas Tree
(Tree trimming time!)

Molly & Colby:
Molly had been more than happy to learn that her and papa were being allowed to go home, even if it meant a nurse had to come along to help her papa out with things. She was so much better than she'd been, but it was still easier at this point to just rest than be overly active, but at least they were home. She knew Jacen didn't trust Brie, but she really liked talking to her, probably because she'd never had a mom before. Colby was happy for her help too. It was still hard for him to get around and do things, so every bit of help she could give he accepted with grace.

Today, had been a special day, he'd called someone he knew to bring...something. She hadn't heard what he'd been talking so low, and it was late when the knock finally came. Cold air filled the house, and there was a strange smell in the air. Colby had always had a tree yes, but he'd always done fake trees. However he was so late in the season putting one up he got a real one... he'd also invited Brie and her son to join them for trimming it.

So Molly was sitting on the couch, listening to Colby slowly moving things into the living room, keeping an open walkway for her to get around in.

Jacen, James & Brie:
Brie walked in, one arm firmly around her son's shoulder's he'd been trying to sneak off all morning, and into the afternoon. She suspected she knew why. Jacen, Colby's son, didn't seem to get along with James: and she was pretty sure the feeling was the same on James' end. "Jamie, it'll be fun! Your first Christmas tree!" She said, glancing around the room. "And here's Molly," she said, warmly, gesturing so James would sit next to her. In the time she had worked for Colby, she had come to appreciate--and even look forward to his company. "Colby, do you want any help?"

Molly & Colby:
Molly smiled hearing Brie's voice and she turned towards it, hearing James was with her. She recalled the talk the two of them had not long ago about James, and all and how she told Brie about Jacen having been a pokemon before too. It had been a nice talk and Molly found herself happier than ever with a female presence around so often! Colby for his part, was leaning on a cane he had, a smile lighting up his face as he heard Brie. "If you could push this box in there? Then we can start trimming the tree. There's lights, and all sorts of decorations, the kids can have fun putting those on once we string the lights how's that?"

Jacen, James & Brie:
James leaned close to Molly and said, "Do you have any idea what this is all about? Mom gave me some lame story about a baby and a star--I think he must have been an arceus or something, turned like me and Jacen. But what's with the tree? And all the songs?" The ponyta boy felt as if he had a thousand questions, and though he didn't know it, the vanilite climbing down the stairs had wondered about the holiday as well. "Dad, I'm ready to help!" Jacen announced, taking a seat on Molly's other side, sticking his tongue out at James. Blegh, fire Pokemon. Who invited him anyway? Oh, right. Papa had. Argh. Brie pushed the box in as directed, smiling at Colby. "That sounds great," she said. "I'm sure they're excited!"

Molly & Colby:
Molly giggled at James and shook her head, and tried to explain about Christmas, and found she couldn't find the words. Colby, over hearing this smiled and simply said "There are a lot of reasons to celebrate Christmas, and in this house our biggest reason is to celebrate the end of another year, and to welcome in a new one. To give gifts to those we care about, to show how much we care, and to sing songs to lift our spirits." Molly beamed at this and nodded. "Now you three give Brie and I a bit to put up lights, and then you can go through the boxes and start hanging decorations." Molly had done this before of course, with Colby's help since she could only reach so high, and couldn't see what areas needed more decorations. But she still had fun. "We can turn on some Christmas carols and sing while we decorate, right papa?" "Of course Molly!" "Yay!" she clapped her hands together in glee then.

Jacen, James & Brie:
James blinked at Colby's explanation, thinking it over. He smiled and nodded understanding. He could see celebrating the end of the year and welcoming the new one, in hopes that it would be better than the last. "But I didn't buy anyone presents," he said, frowning slightly. Maybe his mother would take him to buy something for Molly and Colby later. "Okay! Come on, Molly, you can show me--whatever you'd like to show me!" He grinned. "Come on, Jacen. Its Christmas and it sounds like a good like to get along," he offered his hand, and Jacen took it: only to be shocked by the small buzzer James had placed there. Jacen glared, quickly rubbing at his hand. "You haven't seen my room," he muttered. "Molly, want to play?"

Molly & Colby:
Molly beamed as Colby started up some music and she sang along quietly, letting the boys be...well...boys really. She shook her head at Jacen's question though. "You two can go play. I want to decorate the tree." Colby smiled at James then. "You can make presents too you know. Gifts don't need to be from the store, just from the heart." he pulled out lights and plugged in an end, and stood at one side, directing Brie to the other and began to carefully wind the lights on the tree. "Later, I'll make a garland of cranberries, and another of popcorn to decorate the tree with." "And the paper chains papa! those are so fun!" "Right, and paper chains, and Molly can teach you two how to cut snowflakes from paper." Molly was beaming again.

Jacen, James & Brie:
"Before decorating!" Jacen protested in explanation. "I want to help!" Maybe he could frost the tree with icicles when they were finished! He didn't know the carols, so he listened quietly. "Make presents, really?" James asked, wide eyed. "What kinds of stuff can I make?" He glanced up at his mother, who was helping Colby string the lights on the tree. "Oooh, I bet all three of you can help us string popcorn garlands," she said. "I used to do that when I was a little girl. We'd watch movies and have a bowl of popcorn for eating and one for stringing!"

Molly & Colby:
Molly didn't like how demanding Jacen would be, and she once more shook her head no. "I don't want to play right now Jacen! I want to listen to the music and be here to help decorate when it's time." "Well..." Colby was thoughtful. "You can draw pictures, or I can teach you to make little toys." Molly listened and was glad her papa had someone he could show those things to. She couldn't do it after all. "That would be fun for you guys Brie, but I've tried to help before, I poke my fingers so papa doesn't let me string popcorn anymore. But I can make paper chains! I have a bunch of paper papa cut for me!"

Jacen, James & Brie:
Jacen hesitated, and then, slowly took Molly's hand. "I know, I was just saying I meant we could before decorating. I want to help too! This is my very first Christmas!" He smiled. At least the first one he'd ever had a name for. "I'm really happy to spend it with you, Molly. I'm sorry if I got too excited." He studied Colby and added, "Me too! I'll make something for everyone!" Toys? That sounded interesting! James gave a smile and a nod. "I'd like that," he said gratefully. Brie froze, she'd momentarily forgotten Molly's situation. "No," she said, "I think we should all do something everyone can. I wonder if Molly'll make the longest chain of all"

Molly & Colby:
"How about while you kids make paper chains, Brie and I work on the food garlands?" It sounded like a decent idea to Colby anyhow. Once the lights were done he smiled. "Alright you three, looks like we're ready for you to hang things. Now boys, you need to be careful with the metal hooks they can hurt you if you're not." he turned to Brie and motioned to the mantle over the fireplace. "Lets work here and get it set up. I have garland and stuff to put up here, I even got Jacen a stocking this year...and.." and here he reached into the box and pulled out all the stockings, each had a name stitched into it. Colby, Molly, Jacen, James, Brie. He'd bought the other each one since he was inviting them to spend Christmas with them.

Jacen, James & Brie:
"Sounds good, papa," Jacen agreed immediately. That way, everyone was involved! He listened to Colby's instructions carefully. Metal hooks? Huh. He picked a bulb up carefully, and studied it. He placed it on a branch, careful to make sure it didn't slide off. When it didn't, the vanilite boy felt more confident and stuck another up. "It smells like the forest," he observed, looking to Molly with a smile. "I'll help if you want," he added. James, noticing Jacen's success and not to be out done, took a bulb and placed it on a branch on the opposite side. "I think this will be the prettiest tree ever!" Brie nodded, moving to the mantle to help Colby decorate when he brought out the stockings. She beamed, and without a second thought, wrapped her arms around him in a hug. "Thank you," she said.

Molly & Colby:
Molly settled by a box and reached in carefully, feeling the smooth glass under her fingers, and moving her hand till she located the hook and picked it up carefully, her free hand extended and brushing against the pine needles. "It does smell like the forest!" "I bought a real tree this year, I have to make sure I keep it watered too. Let us know when you kids need us to hang things higher up okay?" he hugged Brie back with a smile, a twinkle in his eyes as he pointed up at the mistletoe he'd hung earlier in the day, and bent to press a light kiss to her lips. It was a bold move on his part he knew!

Jacen, James & Brie:
Jacen nodded in understanding: Colby needed to water this tree like they watered flowers. He imagined the tree needed more water than the flowers, though. "Told you," he said. "When you first got hurt, Molly, I slept under a tree much bigger than this. I saw stars twinkling through the branches at night. I think I like this tree better though. It has lights, and we're decorating it." Together, was the unspoken word. Brie, though surprised by the presence of the mistletoe (how did she not notice it?), didn't hesitate. She returned the kiss, pulling back slightly to smile at him. "A strange place to position it," she teased, "here by the mantle." She kissed him again. James groaned, covering his eyes. "Oh, yuck."

Molly & Colby:
Molly heard the groan from James and paused in the middle of hanging another ornament, brows furrowing. "What's wrong James?" of course she had no idea what was happening! The ornament finally found a branch, though her things were getting all jumbled up. Colby would relocate some of her ornaments soon to higher branches to balance the tree out some. For the moment he grinned at Brie. "What can I say? Christmas came early for me this year."

Jacen, James & Brie:
"Mushy stuff!" James continued to moan complaints. He straightened, wrinkling his nose at his mother. "What's with kissing under a plant?" He demanded. "Is this part of Christmas too? Ugh. I don't like that part." He added to Molly, recognizing that she couldn't have witnessed it, "Your dad kissed my mom!" Jacen had nearly dropped the ornament he was holding in surprise. If possible, he would have gone pale. Brie snickered at James' reaction, and smiled at Colby. "Me too."

Molly & Colby:
"Mushy stuff?" what was mushy stuff? She shrugged a little and hung another ornament on a different branch though her hand paused at James' demand for an explanation, and his further explaning what had happened. "I...don't know....?" she had no idea if this was "normal" Colby merely smiled at the kids. "What can I say? I've fallen for your mom James."

Jacen, James & Brie:
"Mushy stuff," James affirmed. He made a face. "Ugh, that means we have to see that all the time!" He complained, placing another ornament on the tree. He went up to Colby and hugged him. "I guess I don't mind so much," he said, "as long as you don't do that in front of me too often." It would be nice, them being together! That practically made Colby his dad! Jacen froze at Colby's words. He'd fallen for her? Oh no! But maybe... maybe it wasn't so bad. Molly could use a mom. And Colby had been alone along time. And maybe--maybe he'd have a mom too! Brie smiled, "You have?" She asked

Molly & Colby:
Colby chuckled at James and rested a hand on his shoulder. “I can’t promise that, but I’ll make an effort to keep it in mind okay?” he turned to Brie and gave a chuckle. “I sure have. Hard not to with as nice as you are, and how much Molly likes you too.” He squeezed Brie gently. “Come on, let’s finish decorating, and then I’ll show you boys how to make toys for presents.” Molly was happy her papa had finally decided to move on, and let himself care about someone again, he seemed lonely sometimes!

Jacen, James & Brie:
"Okay. But no more mushy stuff. At least, nothing too mushy." He wrinkled his nose. Blegh, girls. And blegh, kisses. "Mom has cooties, you know," he informed Colby matter of factly. "Now you're infected. And Molly too!" Brie smiled, nodding. "I hope James learns to love you as much as I do," she said. Jacen set a decoration on the next branch. He was still stunned. "So... you guys are going to date and stuff?"

Molly & Colby:
Colby couldn’t help a laugh and nodded his head at Jacen’s stunned question. “Well that’s my plan anyhow, if it’s alright with Brie.” He couldn’t help a laugh at James’ declaration of cooties. “I think we can handle cooties just fine but thank you for your concern James.” Molly continued to hang decorations quietly, but she was smiling. She felt so happy!

Jacen, James & Brie:
Jacen reached up and put a bulb up on the highest branch he could reach. He glanced over at his father, "So this is how you ask someone on a date?" He asked. "So if I wanted to--date someone, I just tell them I fell for them?" "Cooties are deadly," James insisted, "Once you got them, you'll never be the same."

Molly & Colby:
Colby chuckled softly, and moved towards the tree, carefully moving some of Molly’s ornaments higher up and around on the tree, a thoughtful look given. “That’s certainly one way yes. Though you’re a bit young to be thinking about dates son.” He ruffled Jacen’s hair affectionately then and continued to move some ornaments. “So after the boxes are put up, how about some hot chocolate and a movie for everyone?” he looked to Jacen again. “I hear your worried about melting if you drink hot chocolate, and I think you’re fine you’re more human than pokemon now after all.”

Jacen, James & Brie:
"I nearly melted with a fever though," Jacen protested, making a face. He would have to ask Colby about dating later. "I guess I could try it," he said. "As long as you're around to make sure I don't." James went and sat next to Molly. "So my mom and your dad. That almost makes us siblings!"

Molly & Colby:
"Well if you prefer I can give you chocolate milk instead." Colby smiled and did began to half clean as boxes were emptied and the rest of the ornaments were put up. Molly gave a smile in James' direction. "All three of us are almost like siblings! It's so nice!" she was happy to have a bigger family! At Colby's word, she got up and made the trek to the table and sat waiting while boxes were put up. This would be a great Christmas she knew!

Jacen, James & Brie:
"Thanks, Dad," Jacen smiled at him. He still had that natural instinct to avoid anything hot. He helped put the boxes away, glancing at Brie. He hesitated, and then wrapped his arms around her waist. "I'm glad Dad fell for you," he said. "Now he'll have all of us to make sure he's happy."

"I've never had siblings before!" James thought he'd like it, even if one of them was an ice pokemon. He followed Molly to the table. "So, what's hot chocolate?"

Molly & Colby:
"It's...chocolate...that's hot?" Molly shrugged. She didn't know what exactly it was not being able to see what it was. Colby went into the kitchen and made up four cups of hot chocolate and one chocolate milk and brought them all to the table, watching as Molly took a careful sip, though before long she began to look sleepy, and he smiled. "Looks like all the excitement is getting to Molly, and she is still healing. Finish your drink and I'll tuck you in." Molly took another few sips, and pushed her cup away with a yawn. She was very tired!

Jacen, James & Brie:
"I'll take her to bed," Brie offered with a smile. She took Molly by the hand. "Come on," she said. She glanced at the two boys, then Colby. "I think you've got things covered here."

Molly & Colby:
Colby smiled and nodded especially as Molly took Brie's hand and began the walk to her room, yawning all the while. It was easy for her to make her way, and change into her pajamas before crawling into bed. "I'm really happy that papa likes you Brie, I do too." laid down with another soft yawn, more than happy to be laying down sleeping.

Jacen, James & Brie:
"Me too," Brie said, softly, pulling the blankets up to Molly's chin. She placed a kiss on her cheek. "Goodnight, love. Sweet dreams."

Journal,

So. Dad is dating Brie. Its weird, I thought I hated the woman. She's much too nice, and too happy all the time. But she makes Dad happy. And Molly. I think its good Molly can have a mom. Dad's always taken care of her by himself, till Molly caught me at least. But he was still alone, until I found my star. I think I didn't like Brie because I was afraid she'd take my place in Dad's life, and in Molly's too. But I see that she hasn't. She hasn't! And she's given us a brother.

I've always liked playing with Molly, but its nice having another boy around the house. Someone who understands toy trains and trucks and action figures, I guess. But also--and I feel bad for saying this, someone who I can run around with and not worry about their running into something or falling down. Molly's pretty careful, but I still worry.

Molly can't see like I can. I wish I was the blind one. It hurts to think she'll never get to see me, or Papa, or even Brie and James. There are so many things I want to show her. Snow, the circus, the beach. The mountains, a rainbow, a waterfall. I wish I knew a pyschic type. I've heard they can do things like that. Transfer images, even let someone see through their eyes. I hope I meet someone who can do that soon. I'm sure that would make Molly very happy.

Bye, Journal,

Jacen
