Chad gave a worried look to Kadaj, but something told Chad that arguing would only make things worse. What could possibly be running through Kadaj’s mind that made him think that going with Chad would be a better solution that actually going with someone who knew what they were doing? “Well, okay if you insist but you should’ve probably…” Chad trailed off mid-sentence as he realized that it wouldn’t be wise to tell Kadaj how he should raise his Pokémon. When he thought about it, Chad wouldn’t want someone doing that to him either, so he could understand why it wouldn’t be too kind to simply do that to Kadaj. The fact that it seemed like Kadaj put some effort into coming up with a decision made Chad realize that perhaps Kadaj was more serious about being a trainer than Chad had first presumed, but then again, Chad kind of figured that out when Kadaj had asked him to take his Poochyena and get it healed somewhere. “Alright then Chad, so long as you know what you’re doing with your Pokémon.” Chad turned his attention back to Torben and shrugged, almost as though he didn’t know what to say. “I guess he wants to go to my place, although I have no idea why.” After saying this, Chad turned back to Kadaj, his expression growing a bit more exhausted as he did so. “I think we should probably be leaving now if you want to get your Pokémon some rest. I think I have a couple items at my house that were used when my father first moved here. We had a pet Miltank and he always had a stockpile of potions in case Miltank got sick.” Chad tried to remember where they were but couldn’t seem to figure it out. Oh well, he’d figure out where all the potions were when he got home. After all, it’s not like he had some magical healing powers that could bring back the Poochyena from its unconscious state anyways other than his power of patience and composure, unlike Kadaj who seemed to be a ball of nerves when it came to his Pokémon. “So Torben, I hope we meet again. Perhaps then I’ll be alone and we get into a more interesting and deep conversation.” Chad smiled warmly and then decided to slowly start walking down the street, not sure whether or not Kadaj would have a couple parting words for Torben or not. When Chad realized this, he stopped in his tracks and made sure that Kadaj wasn’t about to say anything mean or uncalled for. Since after all, Torben was just trying to help. In a strange way though, Chad kind of understood what it was like to worry about pride. It was a messy thing that Chad forced himself to tone down on after his father died. He lost a lot of his will to keep going after that and the first thing Chad got rid of was his pride. He did that so he’d have the power to not care whether or not he cried over his father’s death, which he did a lot.

Kadaj looked at Torben with peering eyes, itching to say something else but not quite sure what to say. He didn’t mean to come off rude if he did so but just kind of thought he’d be more at ease if it was someone he knew more so taking care of his Pokémon. Of course, the fact that Chad was cute only helped fuel his reasons for wanting to go to his house, but then again Torben was cute too in that innocent kind of way. It was a shame that Kadaj still wasn’t comfortable with his sexuality. There would be no way in hell he’d come right out and say what he thought about men since growing up in an orphanage, he was raised under strict catholic guidance. “I know what I’m doing with my Pokémon dude. You don’t even have to worry about it.” Kadaj created a very small smile upon his face, causing only a small outline of his beautiful white teeth to be seen through his smile. He didn’t smile with his teeth much, but when he did, it was because he was genuinely happy. Right now, he was happy because of what Chad was saying and still being on board with going to his house. “Whoa, hold on, you had a pet Miltank? That’s kind of cool. I didn’t know those Pokémon were around here. I’ve never seen one before except for when it was on the computer dude.” Kadaj waved goodbye to Torben and slowly started walking with Chad, keeping a bit of distance from him so Chad didn’t get the wrong idea, or in Kadaj’s case, right idea. Kadaj was a bit surprised to find himself a little jealous of the fact that Chad was looking forward to his next conversation with Torben. ‘Whoa no way. There’s no way I could be jealous. I’ve never been jealous a day in my life.’ Kadaj shook his head and tried to place what he had been jealous about with something else. He wasn’t jealous of Chad, no of course not, he was jealous that Chad wouldn’t hurry up and take him to his house so that his Pokémon could be healed, or at least that’s what Kadaj was telling himself as he walked down the street. “We should pick up the pace man, we got a Pokémon to get healed right?” Kadaj smiled and started walking in the direction he had remembered Chad pointing towards. He walked in front of Chad, trying to lead the way, though in reality he had no idea where he was going, but hopefully Chad would speak up if Kadaj started going the wrong way. He didn’t seem like the type of guy that would just let Kadaj run off and do something stupid like walking in an opposite direction. Still, Kadaj knew of Chad’s dislike for his personality. “Let’s try and get there soon, I have a feeling my hair might’ve got messed up when I was battling you. I think I might need to style it.”

Necros levitated next to its Trainer as Tobren sighed. He honestly didn't expect them to get his name right, but oh well one can hold onto hope...maybe. "Okay, I get it...its a matter of pride. That's all fine and dandy when your dealing with an older Pokemon and have the experience to back it up." Biting his bottom lip the young man visibly winced. He knew he had just said something extremely stupid..."Alas, friendship I knew you well..."
The youth quickly put the berries away, franticly thinking about what he could screw up next with his words, he knew he was taking a chance. At least these couldn't react like most others. Or so he hoped. "Sorry! Its just...at least five times now you guys got my name wrong...Torben isn't how you say it. The "r" is in the wrong place from what I'm hearing...its Tobren...R comes after the B...and is slightly rolled. Its a weird name I know. Trust me when I say I got teased for it a lot...so, its become a real irritation point with me."
He put the berries away after giving one to Necros, the small Pokemon happily muching on the wild treat. Ruffling his short light green hair the young man seemed helpless for a moment before giving them a forced bright smile, one he was used to putting on even for a enemy. "If I see you guys later on down the road I'll teach you a bit more about berries...after all, every Trainer needs to learn about them in case they don't have enough money for Potions and the like..."
He glanced back to where his sister was knowing she'd be calling for him soon. Glancing back to the males he was sure that he had at least irked one if not both of them with his reply he came to a slightly saddening conculsion, "I've overstayed my welcome...hopefully the next time we meet will be on better terms...bye, uh...sorry to ask this, but what are your names?"
He heard the two men say the others name, but he was raised to always be polite if there was a prospective friend before you. He just hoped his sharp tongue didn't screw things up...

Myridia seemed to think for a momen. "Well, lets see if this will decide things. Razz take the hit and Quick Attack in return!"
Maybe this would see who the victor would be, either the tackle would do more damage than she thought since both Pokemon where beginners or the quick attack would land and knock out the little Sewaddle.
"Scy...ther!" the larger Pokemon called out for its final attack...

Chad walked with Kadaj and quietly sighed in a sad attempt to seem apologetic for Tobren. “I’m sorry Tobren.” Chad stopped walking and decided to hear out Tobren for the sake of letting him get things off his chest. Truthfully, it wasn’t Chad’s fault that Kadaj and he were leaving. If anything, it was all Kadaj who wanted to go to Chad’s home for some strange and unapparent reason. He didn’t want to argue or emphasize on this point since it was already pretty obvious why they were actually leaving. If Chad had gotten to pick what was done, he would’ve had Kadaj stick around here and allow Tobren to heal his Pokémon. Of course, Kadaj was really being stubborn for some reason. Chad didn’t want to question it because he might’ve done the same thing if he was in the position Kadaj was in, but then again, Tobren didn’t look like the type of person that would actually do something that would harm any Pokémon ever. “Tobren, Tobren, Tobren. Okay, I won’t forget that name if we ever meet again. I’m sorry about that, I had a lot going on in my head when you introduced yourself and if I failed to introduce myself, please call me Chad.” Chad smiled in a courteous manner to Torben before turning his attention back towards Kadaj who seemed like he was more in a hurry to get to Chad’s house than he was. “Yeah, I used to have a pet Miltank when I was probably fourteen or fifteen. It made milk for us and we could sell it to the town for a few bucks here and there. We had to get rid of it though whenever we couldn’t pay the mortgage on our house, so no more Miltank.” Chad smiled as to show that he was over the incident and wasn’t gloomy about it or something of the sort. He never really talked about his past in general because it was somewhat dark and Chad didn’t want people getting a wrong idea about him being gothic or saddened all the time. He was actually a lot happier than he was sad because he knew how to just lock his past away and hide the key so he didn’t have to bring those shadows out to play. Chad did in fact pick up his pace whenever it was suggested by Kadaj, only because it was something that seemed like it needed to be done for the sake of the Poochyena who was still inside of its Pokeball. He couldn’t help but role his eyes though because of the hair comment. “It’s just hair, no one care what it looks like, I mean, look at mine.” Chad’s hair was always shaggy and relatively long for a guy, although not exactly as long as Tobren’s. Still, he didn’t care what people thought of it half the time because it just seemed to not be so important in his life at this point. “You should just focus on Poochyena.”

Kadaj looked back at the kid who wanted his name corrected. He really didn’t care too much about how this kid was emphasizing his name, but apparently it seemed like he didn’t like nicknames so Kadaj decided to correct his name for the sake of keeping everyone at peace and happy with the situation. “Alright, alright. Take it easy dude.” Kadaj sighed before resuming his speaking, “Tobren okay? T-o-b-r-e-n. Sound about right dude?” Kadaj smiled, although it was somewhat forced at this point. He really didn’t like being proven wrong, but at the beginning of his journey, he didn’t really have a leg to stand on when it came to who was right and who was wrong since he seemed to be proving time and time again that his decisions weren’t always the most sound and logical. Kadaj shrugged once more whenever Tobren asked for his name. He didn’t really like introducing himself to people who annoyed him, but he decided, just in case they were to meet in the future, to introduce himself in a somewhat hasty manner. “I’m Kadaj dude.” Kadaj turned around and started walking down the street again. He was irritated, but nothing that would really deter him from getting to where he needed to go. He just hoped that Chad wouldn’t be too mad at him at this point and decide it wouldn’t be best to take him to his house in the end. Then again, Chad did seem to have a thing for the Poochyena and he really wanted to see it recover, and if he really did have potions at his house, then that would be all the more reason to get there. Yes, Kadaj was finally starting to think that maybe his decision to go to Chad’s was actually better than sticking around and taking a gamble with berries from a stranger.
Kadaj turned to Chad but kept walking and decided to hear him out about the story of a Miltank. He never saw Chad as the kind of guy who was a farmer, at least to the point of milking a Miltank, but for some reason, that idea made Kadaj all the more attracted to Chad. He was that farmer boy of his fantasies, although that was a bit of a stretch. It’s not like he worked on a farm or anything like that. “I’ve never had a Pokémon before my little dude now, so yeah; I totally don’t know what it’s like.” Kadaj refrained from talking about the orphanage, mainly because a lot of problems went down there, so he simply decided to change the subject to something more relevant to what they were trying to do. “Are we almost at your house yet? I’m kind of excited to see what kind of dump you’ve been living in!” Kadaj smiled and quickly adjusted his statement to defuse any tension, “I’m kidding dude, I bet it’s a nice place.” Kadaj walked down the street in a hasty manner and was slightly relieved to see Chad taking initiative and keeping up the pace.

Chad could practically feel animosity coming from Kadaj, but for what reason? Why was he having such a short fuse? Was it because his Pokémon was knocked out or was it because he didn’t like being corrected by people? After really thinking about it for a moment, Chad simply decided that it probably had to do with a little bit of both, although he didn’t know Kadaj well enough to be sure, although he did know a thing or two about how conceited Kadaj could be, and arrogance seemed to go hand in hand with being so vein. Chad gave a worried look to Tobren before ultimately deciding to take Kadaj to his home so that he could let the Poochyena rest. As the two walked hastily down the street, Chad listened to Kadaj talk about never having a Pokémon before. To be honest, Chad’s first Pokémon wasn’t really the Miltank. It was more like his father’s Pokémon, but since his father was ill, Chad sort of took up the role as father in the house and took care of everything. Maybe that’s one of the reasons he was doing more damage control than he needed to with Tobren because he didn’t like just sitting by and watching things play out. Chad figured that most people would just consider this a weakness of his, but ultimately he’d rather be the way that he was than an arrogant person like Kadaj. Who by the way, he was only helping for the sake of his Pokémon.
After walking for a little bit, Kadaj arrived at his home, a simple two-bedroom place with a pretty nice yard. Most of the neighbors were at work, so Chad didn’t have to worry about them asking why he was still in town. He didn’t really like talking to any of them anyways because they always wanted to talk about his father, who at this point he was trying to forget the existence of. “This is my house. Let’s help out Poochyena.” Chad walked up to the door and quickly unlocked it before stepping inside and pointing down the hall for Kadaj. “My room’s on the left, feel free to just put Poochyena in the bed. I’m going to go find a potion in the medicine cabinet.” Chad walked down the hall and made a left into the bathroom, not very worried about Kadaj at this point. He just hoped that Kadaj wouldn’t do anything like rummage through Chad’s belongings since there were some things that Chad didn’t want anyone seeing, such as his web-browsing history, but the computer was password protected so getting on that would be impossible for anyone except for Chad and maybe a few internet wizards, but Chad didn’t see Kadaj as that kind of guy. After rummaging through the bathroom medicine cabinet for a moment, Chad found a few potions leftover from a long time ago. They should be enough to heal the Poochyena since it wasn’t that strong to begin with. After letting out a sigh of relief, Chad walked back into his bedroom ready to heal the Poochyena.

The sun was high in the sky, probably about midday. There was a lot that had already been done today and then there was a lot that still had to be done if Kadaj wanted to redeem himself from plunder earlier. He didn’t like thinking about what had happened, because it seemed like most of the things that had happened today were by no means in Kadaj’s favor. If anything, he simply wanted to forget, but then that would mean forgetting all the people he’d met. Even though he’d been short with Tobren, he still liked the guy. He just didn’t like that he’d been trying to correct Kadaj in the way that he had said his name. Once they arrived at Chad’s house, Kadaj smiled approvingly. It was nice to see a place that wasn’t rundown. When Kadaj lived in town, outside of the orphanage, he lived in a run-down apartment complex because he couldn’t afford anything else. Now that he was on the nicer side of town, he was a little bit excited to see what Chad got to live in. He walked up to the door and waited for Chad to unlock his home so that they could go inside. “This is a nice place you got here dude.” Kadaj whistled in admiration for the home and walked inside right behind Chad as he finished unlocking the door. “Alright, so where should I let Poochyena rest man?” Kadaj turned to Chad and waited for some sort of instructions about where to go. Even though he was vein, he still had some kind of manners, especially when it came to being in someone else’s home because they were being nice enough to even let him in. That was enough for Kadaj at this point.
When he found out that he would be going to Chad’s room, he grinned smugly, although made sure not to let Chad see that cheeky grin. ‘I can see what kind of guy Chad is from his room, alright.’ Kadaj walked down the hall and to the left, just like Chad had said and found himself in Chad’s room. It seemed pretty basic for a grown man, by which he meant there was pretty much nothing in it except for a few sports items and a computer and bed. That was strangely enticing to Kadaj, especially when he thought of how ‘all-American’ Chad seemed to be. He was like the poster boy for most real men and Kadaj thought that was extremely arousing. Sadly though, he knew that Chad wasn’t gay, so he’d just have to fight any remote desires he’d had for him. The last thing Kadaj wanted was an awkward confrontation that involved him getting beat up by Chad since it was pretty clear that Chad was a lot more physically toned than Kadaj was, although Kadaj did do the daily run and things of the sort. Kadaj released his Poochyena and gently placed him on the bed, laying him on the soft sheets and waiting for Chad to come back with hopefully a potion or something. When he did come back, Kadaj pointed to Poochyena and sighed. “Alright then dude, let’s get this show on the road.”

Chad walked back into his bedroom and saw the Poochyena laying on the sheets and Kadaj seemingly anxious. That made for a somewhat easy combination because at least then Chad wouldn’t have to fight with Kadaj to simply spray the potion on the Poochyena. “Okay, okay. I guess I should get started then.” Chad walked over to the bed and knelt down beside it. He looked over the Poochyena with a keen eye, not sure about where he should spray the potion. He remembered his father did it to the Miltank on the location that it had been injured, so Chad decided to spray the Poochyena where it had been scratched by Nincada. “Poochyena, Kadaj, this might sting a little, but like my father always said, ‘No pain, no gain.’” Chad aimed the potion at Poochyen and began to spray on the healing item. He just hoped that Poochyena wouldn’t run or attack him, but then again, it was unconscious so it might not do anything at all.
After he was done, he turned to Kadaj and nodded. “All done, I think he’ll be fine in a few minutes. Just give the Potion some time to sooth him and we should be good to go.” Chad nodded and walked back into the bathroom. He needed to put up the potion since there wasn’t enough in it to keep them going. At least, not right now anyways. ‘Let’s see, I have two pokeballs still because that woman gave me a couple whenever I went into her rehabilitation center. After that, I have a potion now from my house. This could help with my Pokémon if it gets injured.’ Chad nodded to himself and then thought about whether or not he could tolerate Kadaj enough to go on this adventure with him. When he was done thinking about it, Chad decided that he could at least ask Kadaj if he wanted to since it wasn’t like Chad would have any more fun doing this by himself. Besides, Kadaj was a tolerable guy once Chad got past his conceited and arrogant personality. But, if Kadaj got too arrogant, Chad could always knock him back down to size through a Pokémon battle. That seemed to shut Kadaj up whenever he was getting too cocky. Then again, Chad would need to keep training if he actually thought he could stand a chance against Kadaj by staying where he was at now. Currently it seemed like Kadaj acted like he didn’t care about training, but Chad could tell Kadaj had a desire to keep going, no matter how tough it got. Chad could really use that kind of motivation to keep him going since he sometimes fell in a depressive state that was just too hard to get out of.
Chad walked back into his room and turned to Kadaj before asking in an undertone, “Want to do this journeying thing together?” Chad could feel himself blushing as he thought about what he had just asked. It was a lot to expect Kadaj to say yes right away, but maybe once he thought about it, Kadaj would realize how that could work out.

Kadaj looked up at Chad as he walked back into the room with a potion in his hands. Kadaj had heard a thing or two about how a Potion could sting when applied, so he was mentally prepared for Poochyena to flinch or something from it, but at least he would be able to be healed. Kadaj had his Poke-ball ready though just in case Poochyena decided to attack Chad or something thinking it was still in a battle. The last thing Kadaj wanted was a battle inside of the house of Chad, who happened to be a more than generous person for helping out with Poochyena when he really didn’t have to. Just because he was the winner of the battle didn’t mean that he had to concern himself with the safety of the opponent’s Pokémon. “Thanks man, for helping out with everything.” Kadaj blushed, but he didn’t do anything to hide it. He just hoped that Chad would realize how hard it was for Kadaj to actually admit that Chad was doing something good. The thought crossed Kadaj’s mind that he should probably go to the bathroom and check out his hair, but then it wouldn’t have done anything for the sincerity that he was trying to convey for Chad, so he simply sat there and watched the spray come out of the potion and apply itself to Kadaj’s Pokémon. It was a bit hard to watch the spray, but Poochyena didn’t do anything to resist it because it was still sleeping. “Well I guess that Poochyena is a hard sleeper like me.” Kadaj laughed and allowed his laughter to die after a few seconds when he watched Chad walk back into the bathroom. That was convenient. It seemed like Chad had to go back and put up the potion or something, giving Kadaj a minute or two with his Poochyena alone. For the first time since the battle, it seemed like Poochyena was actually breathing. Kadaj could see his stomach moving up and down and his legs twitching like he was in some sort of dreaming state. The whole scene warmed Kadaj’s heart, which was a bit strange causing nothing had warmed his heart before unless it involved the idea of sex or scenarios he was playing out in his head.
When Chad walked back into the room to propose they journey together, Kadaj wanted to just jump into his arms shouting yes, but he managed to catch himself and just let out a heavy breath before replying, “Yeah! Dude we could totally do that!” Kadaj turned to his Poochyena and smiled happily. “Oh yeah, we’ll need to stop by Vormund City. There’s not much there, but there’s a Pokémon Center meaning that we could go learn a bit more about training and such. Plus the route between our two towns has some Pokémon in it too. Pretty awesome if you ask me.” Kadaj held his tongue at this point. He realized he said too much and that he was acting far more excited than he should be about the prospect of having an ally.

There was a moment of doubt flash across Chad’s eyes as he thought about how easily it could’ve been for Kadaj to say no. Sure, Chad could consider himself to be the good guy in their friendship, but at the same time, he could see why Kadaj would possibly say no. For starters, he thought that maybe Kadaj would say no because of how pushy Chad had been about trying to convince him to get medical assistance from Tobren, the guy they had met in the streets earlier. Another thing that Chad thought would be a plausible reason to say no, was when Chad was trying to teach Kadaj a lesson about how he shouldn’t be conceited because he lost a battle that he was so confident about winning. Ultimately though, the number one thing that Chad thought he’d say no for was because Chad’s Nincada was the one who knocked out his Poochyena. His doubts washed away though whenever Kadaj said yes. A held breath escaped from Chad’s mouth as he comforted himself in the answer he was given. All that worrying he did was for nothing, and if it wasn’t for Chad asking, the two of them might’ve parted ways after they were done in Chad’s house. Chad looked to the bed to see the Poochyena twitching and doing things all normal Pokémon did when they were sleeping. It was a bit alleviating to see that Poochyena was better, even if it was still asleep. The way it moved in its sleep kind of reminded Chad of the battle they’d had earlier. That was a pretty good battle when it came down to it because of the dynamic personalities that made up the two fighting. “Well, I guess I’m going to sit and wait for Poochyena to be ready with you.” Chad walked over to his chair that was in front of his desk and sat down at it. He was half-tempted to turn on his computer, but there weren’t any friends he wanted to say goodbye to that he didn’t already. “Yeah, we can go to the Pokémon Center in the next town over. I’ve been there a couple of time with my father because there’s a pretty big hospital there that he went to.” Chad pursed his lips as he went over what he had just said. He never liked talking about his father in a past tense because it was too hard for him to come to terms with sometimes. However this time, he already had a lot to deal with, such as Kadaj and his Poochyena, and the fact that he now had a Pokémon of his own to concern himself with. Luckily though, Nincada had only suffered from a couple of scratches so there was nothing that needed to be healed. Eventually Nincada would recover himself since all he did was get tackled by a simple-minded Poochyena several times before ultimately winning the battle. Although to be honest, Chad had a feeling that in the future he would be lead into a rematch with Kadaj and next time, there would be an even bigger challenge.
