It didn't take them long to reach the top of the dune. The tribesmen were born strafing the dunes, and their feet accustomed to their treacherous climes. Even if the impostors weren't, they'd find climbing the dune easier given the razor tipped motivation inches behind and around them. One meacha swayed backwards as the desert grains worked their way into the automata's joints and armor. Four spears drove into its back as it started to fall, keeping the creature upright as circuitry sizzled and smoked upon its piercing. The Meacha stumbled on and upwards as fluid trailed behind it in the sand.

They would be able to see it completely once they'd reached the top of the dunes. What had emerged from the dune was a massive gate, adorned with the hacked and defaced sculptures of 15 sadistic, hateful faces. The old Blood Barons glared down at the entrants with their lifeless and cracked visages. The gates were open, and more shouts and alarum resonated from its mouth.

"REDCLAW ANSWERS THE CALL!
GLASSHIDE ANSWERS THE CALL!"

Beyond the entrance was a huge tunnel wrought with torch sconces made of bone with painted murals that had been cut away with swords and knives. It's bloodsoaked origins were ignored. The unrelenting press of spears corralled the Legionaries inside.

”If you thought Hell was frightening….”

*Kinetav began to sweat heavily as he continued to walk up the giant hill, but only because of the sun burning onto his armor; he stayed wise and kept on his vizor as he watched one of the squad members begin to wear down and be skewered on a spear behind him. None-the-less, the Dark Avenger powered on as he had always done in his life, and as he saw the spears behind him carry that same member....he had a fun idea pop into his mind, if he could get his hands on the security card inside the Captain if he died. His Edge always stayed within his mind's notice, however, as his jaw dropped underneath his guise as he saw the large door lifted above the sand dunes.

Tens of people's soul strands turned the already impressive view into a multi-color spectacle as the Anima enjoyed the bloodsoaked origins of the tunnel, walking deeper into the heart of the capital.

Adellos carried Rivkah's unconscious frame from the Arena, back into the heart of the city. The cavern opened considerably and became a marvelous plaza, it's fountains and austere shapes molded seamlessly from the stone around them. He traveled under a large awning adorned with glass lanterns that hung ghost-like in at its sides. There was a doorway leading further in to what appeared to be housing, and Adellos walked several paces into a hallway of doors gilded in brass, much of which had been stripped from the wood for some other use. He pushed open one of the doors to a space vacant of guests but furnished. The bed at the room's back had a frame crafted of shaped stone and glass topped by a leather sleeping roll and a heap of soft sand colored pelts.

Adellos gently set the girl on the bed, arranging some furs over her to ward off the slight chill in the air. Then he turned, took a brass bowl from the table beside the bed, and disappeared back out the door. He returned shortly after, and set the bowl full of water beside the Seer. After taking his own moment to wonder where she came from, Adellos sat beside the bed and waited for Rivkah to stir.

“I have foreseen your destruction.”

Rivkah twisted and turned upon the bed, the nightmares getting worse. Mere moments after Adellos returned from retrieving the water, Rivkah bolted upright with a scream, beating at the empty air in front of her with clenched fists as she fought off an imagined foe. With a thundering heart, and ragged breath, Rivkah threw the furs from her body, the fact there was only one other energy signature in the room completely escaped her attention as she fought her invisible foe, caught in the terror of her nightmare.

((Works for me biggrin ))

Adellos was up from his chair in the instant that Rivkah screamed. Such waking nightmares were not unknown to the Guard Captain. He jumped the distance to her, catching some of the furs as they were thrown and dropping them back to bed as his hands clutched the Seers swinging, balled fists. She would find him to be very strong and resisting him to be difficult, but his grip was firm, not violent. "Listen. You are awake. Your nightmare is over." His words were short but precise, relying more on the presence of his voice than the actual words. If she stopped flailing, he would let her go.

“I have foreseen your destruction.”

As Adellos gripped Rivkah's wrists, the woman jerked backwards as another spike of fear shot through her. When his words filtered through her mind she slowly stopped moving, gasping for breath. Then the tears came, flowing freely down her face. "Adellos, was I really so bad that this torment is his way of punishing me? The things he has seen..." She shuddered, the nightmarish images still lingering in her mind.

"The dead shall rise. Then you will fall,"

Adellos didn't release Rivkah's arms until he was certain she would not harm herself or continue her convulsions. When he did, he let the weight of her words sink into him. How did this girl know his name? The wilder straightened his back, and reached out to the bowl nearby. He held it out to the Seer and spoke softly, "Drink this before you speak. I know my Lord well, young one... but you seem to know both him better. Who are you? What did he show you?" The Guard Captain had not witnessed the events leading to her collapse. He had been away, retrieving Sephra from her most grizzly punishment.

Rivkah placed her hands over Adellos' and tilted the bowl, pouring the contents into her mouth before swallowing and letting go. With a glistening water mustache, Rivkah let a small sigh slip from her lips as she prepared to answer his questions. "My name is Rivkah, I am a seer, I can see your name, and if I chose, I could pluck the thoughts right out of your head. I find this quite rude though, so I wont. As for what he showed me... He poured his memories into my mind, I feel as though I have lived two lives, almost like I am two people, even though I know I am not. He has shown me your peoples suffering, as well as his own in a bid to justify the over-zealous punishment he dished out to the monster." The fact that she saw Sephra as Krayth had, completely escaped her attention.

The wilder Captain knew of Seers, but the Lady of Ernya had been the only one of her kind he'd seen until now. He watched her attentively, untouched by the sensation of her small hands over his as she drank. When she had finished, the bowl found its way to the table. She spoke and he listened, and his face was gentle until she marked Krayth's name. His features then were hard as stone, and though she would not see it Rivkah would hear it in his voice. "You slander him yet say he showed you our suffering." The wilder rose from beside the bed, and moved to the room's open door. He shut it quietly, but his grip on its brass handle caused his veins to rise.

"May I tell you a story, Rivkah? It will be quick. Your time is your own and I will not waste it. If you'd rather take it from my mind, then I give it willingly." He said no more, facing the door, awaiting her response.

Rivkah opened her mouth slightly to object, she hadnt meant it as slander, however he rose to his feet and moved to the door, her mouth snapping shut as a shimmer of fear settled over her. She knew she would not be able to fight this man off, and all manner of horrible scenario's played through her head as she heard the door close.

When he mentioned telling her a story, she let out the breath she had not realized she was holding and nodded. "I would love for you to tell me a story Adellos," She wriggled back until she was pressed against the head of the bed, and as far from Adellos as she could manage. She was still a little afraid, even though she could see what kind of man he was through Krayth's memories.

Adellos let go of the door handle and turned to face Rivkah. He could see the fear in her - how she cornered herself into the wall to put as much distance between them as possible... and it was slightly sad. The wilder did nothing to apologize or assure her, and walked back to the bed. He sat at its edge, where he had been before, and made no attempts to touch her. He meant what he had said. He only wished to tell a story. "This story has been passed down from many mouths through many years. It was spoken by the Last Mother of my tribe, to her son, to his, and onward.'

"One hundred years ago, The Desert winds were filled with a thousand flying colors. They stretched all throughout the sands, to the waters, the rocks and even the sky. Men carried these colors with them always. They were the shades of the desert, of animals; of crystals, stars and ghosts. Spirits traveled on their hues. For every color there was a tribe, and for every tribe there were eternal stories. Tales that dug below the sands, to the bones of the ancient ones and further, to when all was green and water flowed from a million rivers; to the birth of Snake Mother Myrancodas and her days beside Pital."

The wilder was removing his hood and the wrap at his shoulders, each sand frayed but immaculately clean. It was a color of blue suffused with a white that made it almost spectral, with a depth that spoke of its origin. Adellos did not have a left eye. The scare his face bore spoke of it being ripped from his skull.

"I do not know those stories. Many are broken or gone; buried with their tellers in the desert. This story is of my tribe, who carry the color of the clouds. 100 years ago our chieftain was Alteras, the master of the sky. He spoke to the clouds, and they brought rain to the tribe. He had the loyalty of Kyaa, Queen of Eagles, and the razor beaks of the Hawklords. He flew with them above the desert, and our tribe feasted in their feathered halls. He found his mate in the river girl Sen'a, and with his seed she became the New Mother of the tribe. They traveled the sky in dreams and in daylight, and their love was praised by many.

"Then the sky turned red and wept. Beneath black clouds came the faces of fifteen bloody men. They brought rain of fire, acid and poison. They invaded the souls of the shamans, and turned the world against the colors that walked it. This upheaval buried tribes alive, and their screams could be heard in the sand. There was no magic that could fight them. They offered peace through counsel, and the chieftains gathered with offerings of gold and glass and all the treasures of the desert. The bloody men laughed at their gifts and killed them all. All but Alteras. They wanted his secret sky gifts, for the wind. They demanded his power, for his mastery of the sky exceeded their own. He refused, and they bound him in the rocks. They brought his tribe before him, and crushed the voice from his lungs to call the birds from the sky.

"They broke the minds of the birdfolk and turned them against one another. They ripped Kyaa's wings from her body, and cut through the Hawklords with lightning. When only the ravens remained, the bloody men made the New Mother look as they pecked the flesh from the Sky Master's bones, leaving only his eyes so he could look back. On that day, every Chieftain died. With Alteras' death, his mate became the Last Mother. They hung his skull and bloody bones from the ceiling of her prison, so that when they came to take her she would see the remains of her old life. They penned the rest of her tribe with hungry dogs. Those who were not eaten survived to live and die as the Blood Barons desired, amongst the broken remnants of the other tribes. Where once there was a thousand colors, there was fifty.

"The Blood Barons never aged. They took children as their pleasure slaves, and took their essence to remain forever young. Only those tribes that gave them all they wanted without question were released from their pens to work in mines and farms to gather wealth they'd never hold and harvest feasts their mouths would never taste. I was born with a twin, and my mother his us with other children. She told me only twelve of our tribe remained, and there were still 15 Barons. When they took her away, they found us and the other children. They killed the others who hid us. There were only 5 of my tribe left then. We were kept as their slaves, and when I was 10 they made me fight my brother. When I won the Baron Thaladas set his jackal on me, and it chewed on my face until I was as I am. My brother's punishment was a pit full of snakes."

There was a sudden pause/ Adellos had sunken forward, head slouched over the hood in his hands. His face was as hard as his heart.

"Forgive me, Rivkah. I said I would not bore you. The story ends only a year ago. I am killing the man who lorded over me for 36 years as a free man... and as the Last Son of my tribe. I am fighting at the front of all of the tribes, beside a Soul Eater and the Lady who we bury tomorrow. Two tribeless strangers, now one."

“I have foreseen your destruction.”

Rivkah's eyes never left Adellos as he told his story. The exposure of his eyes was a wasted effort as Rivkah had no ability to see his face normally. She fidgeted idly as he spoke, feeling guilty for snapping at this man, and disrespecting his leader. As he spoke, the seer also began to relax and move closer to him, reaching out to brush one of his hands with her finger tips.

"No, you have not bored me at all Adellos, I must beg your forgiveness for my rash behavior," She bowed her head, golden locks falling forward to hide her face, unsure of what to say in regards to the rest. They were to bury someone, Azur. Rivkah felt a pang of sadness at the thought, Krayth's memories and feelings influencing her own.

"The dead shall rise. Then you will fall,"

Adellos looked down at the young girl's hand on the back of his pitted, scarred fist. A slow exhalation eased the tension in his fingers; he could not afford to damage his tribe's color. It was all they -he- had left... and though he knew the Seer meant well by her touch it was wounding. How many children has he been forced to watch dragged from their mothers to never return from Andalusia? How many little bodies had they found tucked neatly away in this place? His hand moved away from hers, letting it fall back to the bed without a word as the Guard Captain reverently wrapped his face and shoulders once more.

That was the past, and it would never come again. The wilder looked to Rivkah as he stood, his face cloaked in sky but his soul still burning from the pain of remembering.

"Listen well, Rivkah. We are like the Desert. We do not beg, and we do not accept words of apology. Like stories, words can paint visions but do not live their meaning. If you are truly sorry, it will be seen in your actions. Then, it will be forgiven."

Adellos held out his arm to Rivkah, to help the Seer from her resting place. "Come with me to Sky Basin. You may eat there, and rest in the comfort of others."

“I have foreseen your destruction.”

Shrugging off the rejected comfort she had offered, Rivkah pulled her hand back and into her lap. She looked up as he started to speak once more and, unsure of how to respond to the information, nodded, acknowledging his words.

Rivkah reached out to the energy she saw extended towards her, taking his hand before climbing from the bed to stand by his side."That sounds wonderful," A smile on her face as her stomach grumbled.

The wilder took her hand, and somewhere in the thread-bare creases of his hood there flickered a smile. He raised the Seer to her feet, turned, opened the door and led the way.
