"I didn't see either of those guys pulling on a candlestick.." Muka's scratchy voice was getting a bit fretful. He wasn't so much looking for new things. He was trying to remember what those before them had did. The boil with the club had beat on the door and yelled at them, the muscular man just sort of bellowed and the fellow with the wings was denied the first time he tried and on his second request was allowed.

Muka spun and pinned one of the mysterious figures with his eyes. At the top of his lungs he screeched. "LET ME IN!!! PLEASE."

All three of the boils who were let in had pretty much yelled at the figures. HE WOULD TOO.

Herryk squeezed into the claustrophobic hallway, slime and grime coating his broad shoulders. Yuck. He had to walk down the stairs with his shoulders crouched in, his back hunched and his arms held slightly in front of him. If he was less of a boil he would back right out of that tiny hallway with the drippy drips and the nasty getting all over his bare chest, but Herryk didn't mind getting down and dirty especially if there might be a prize at the end.

Herryk liked prizes.

Entering the room at the bottom of the staircase, Herryk was first transfixed by the blue flames that glowed from the wall sconces. The cold flames licked upwards enticingly, as did the flames that shimmered from the eyes of the skull lock.

He noticed that the dragon who went before him had moved to the westernmost door -- someone would find something, there was no use in hovering over the dragon with bated breath, right?

Then again, a smart boil (like the dragon) would look around, maybe search for an alternate doorway, a secret button, anything. Herryk could not lay much claim on being smart. No, he was a pretty simple-minded bloke, and so he approached the central locked door, grasping a horn of the skull lock in each meaty fist before pulling at them with all his might.

If that didn't work, well, maybe then he would look around. Or maybe he'd just try harder.

There was no visible change in Invictus's behavior when Eris appeared to join the party at the front of the tomb, though the slightest tug at the corner of his lips would have been noticed by anybody who cared enough to study the horseman's expression closely (though he would have noticed had anybody taken such measures, so it would have been painfully awkward to do). He barely touched the side of his temple to the horsewoman's when she rested her head on his shoulder.

It wasn't an affectionate gesture, by any means, but it was clear that she was being allowed a certain leeway that would have gotten any student destroyed by Invictus without a second thought. "It is nice to see you, Eris." he said, his tone neutral. Was he actually pleased by the familiar sight of Heir of War? It was quite possible that he was, but he left enough room for speculation.

Then again, Eris had spent enough time with him to probably be able to tell he was indeed being sincere in his own gruff way.

He walked with her as she took her seat on the tombstone, not standing too close, but obviously inclined to at least keep her company for a short time while the tomb was riddled over.

"The first to enter the tomb was brash and bold. He approached and said 'I've approached, now what?'...Albeit.." he paused when Ulmuka suddenly screeched, brows furrowing together, "loudly, like that. The second young man was firm with his intentions and stated them clearly, as did the third." Invictus looked to Eris as he gave her the run down of what had been deemed 'passable' so far.

"It seems rather than screeching or shrieking like some are, which seems counter productive as is, we simply need to have no doubts about our ability to answer."

Invictus was beginning to think that the 'asking permission' part was what the problem was. Then again, he was trying to not just throw people out of his sight and move on without resistance. That would have caused more problems.

Having been the first to go in, he found the honor incredibly unsettling. The stairway, which looked wide enough to begin with, was growing narrower with each step, and the air was stale and making him sick. The walls of the narrow passageway were covered in some kind of clammy, slimy substance that reminded Oppa of aloe, but with a kind of chill that was making his skin crawl. He pulled his hoodie over his hand and pulled the sleeves over his hands so he could avoid touching the walls as much as possible.

After descending the staircase for a while, he noticed his eyesight starting to darken and his head starting to swim. He felt like he was going to pass out and fall the rest of the way.

He felt something rush past him. It startled him. But the creature had brought him out of his daze, and real or not he followed the slithering thing the rest of the way down the steps. It was a dragon! Not long after he reached the end of the hallway another student entered the chamber. He watched them both from the shadows for a bit.

The chamber had another door, but this time with cold blue flames running from it's spires. Oppa wanted to touch the fire, but thought against it. He started to look around for more instructions. Since the first door was so clear, he was hoping for the same here.

Syb hesitated, then sighed inwardly and followed Muka to the door, knocking politely on the tomb. "Excuse me, we'd like to come in, if we could!" she said. Her friend was very noisy, wasn't he? But she had known he was the last time she saw him. He and Ash were both ear bleeding when it came to voices.

She was actually rather impressed by that fact.

This was very, very different from the Haunted Mansion. There, Vero had felt fear. Here, though, Vero fed off it; the tomb pervaded the substance of which all of Halloween Town wanted.

Little wonder the small spirit wandered through the coarse grass and sea of gravestones to the threshold.

Here it could see that there was already a small group assembled, including a certain strix Vero knew all too well from that same haunted mansion. Although in this instance, it saw the boil was rather infuriated at not being allowed in by the cloaked figures before the actual tomb. "Greetings," Vero told them all as it approached, tugging its hood down to have a better look at them with its large, dark eyes.

Hum . . . Was there a riddle in this resting place to solve?

"The sign says to approach the tomb," it stated, beginning its process of intellectual dissection. "And thus here we are . . . Guardians of the tomb, we are ready to enter if you will guide us. We wish to know who or what lies interred."

Specifically Vero meant itself, though the statement could have been tailored to anyone there of course.

After wandering about in the Haunted House for a while, Dariya had gone outside to see what else was around here to do. And almost instantly, his attention was caught by another rather frightening-looking place. A tomb. Hmmn... well well. This looked interesting.

Walking up to the entrance, he tilted head as he read the "instructions". Approach the tomb, hm? Easy enough. Padding closer, the ghost-boil reached out a translucent hand to touch the stone. "Will you allow me entrance, or shall I find my own way inside?"

Ys looked thoughtful at the hooded figure's reply, but made no further comment for the moment. They weren't allowed in for some reason, but... why? She stood in the midst of the clutch of ghouls and boils, bubbling absently as the pondered what the others had done differently. Her thoughts were interrupted by the piercing screech of that that new boil, Ulmuka. Magnified by the water, it was particularly effective in getting her attention, whether or not that was his goal.

"Sssssssss! If that doessss not work, I'll ssshove you in there mysssself!" She hissed in irritation. It wasn't that she disliked the boil, as he had seemed nice enough before, but she could do without sudden, high pitched noises when she was already nervous about the prospect of going underground. Thinking that it might be nerves on his side too, she softened a bit and added with a touch of her usual good humor, "Got quite a ssset of lungsss there, yesss."

Returning her attention to the guards -since that seemed to be their function- and the tomb itself, she considered the entrance again and moved closer to peer at it for some other clue. "What do I have to do to enter thisss placcce then? Perhapsss there is another way for sssome of usss?"

Israfel noticed the other students arriving and figured to try something else. Picking up a stick he poked at it.

Hey, what was the worse that could happen.

Amphi had been debating about the tomb for awhile now. It was hard for her to work up the courage to go from one booth to another. First it had been the Poi fish booth, where she had caughten a little friend and then onto the Dunking one, where she had hit the poor old vagabond AND came back later to dunk him in water. it was like insult to injury.

So here, in front of the tomb was she now. Her eye's swept back and forth over the tomb as she watched other students attempt to go in. Jokingly, she walked over to the tomb and out stretched her arms. "Ah....Open Sesame!" she said in a weak voice.

Aislin had found her gradual way to the tomb. Everything about it, the smell in the air, the chill, the dank dimness, even the tombstones made her feel as though the world around her was electrified with some kind of energy. If she had a heart it would be thumping in her chest. She approached the great doors, looking up at the giant words printed over it.

Approach the Tomb.

She stepped forward without hesitation, head tipped back as she looked towards the two mysteriously hooded figures. All around her others were asking questions of the cloaked figures or demanding to be allowed in.

"Are you the Gatekeepers?" There was certainly a measure of reverence in her voice. "I'm here to go inside." She looked directly up at the figures, flat white gaze looking intently up at them in an attempt to make out any feature.

Sin sighed softly and glanced back at the tomb with a raised brow. So much for trying to charm her way in. "Do I need somesort of key?" Except she watched as others were admitted and her eyes narrowed. Well that hardly seemed fair, was this demonic discrimination? No probably not, demons were usually not the ones discriminated against anyway...as she should well know. Her hands moved to her hips and she tilted her head studying the entrance curiously and then at the tombs...guardians?

"What does this tomb hold that not all may enter freely?" She had dropped her more charmingly sweet voice realizing these tomb guardians weren't reasonable in the least...or easily charmed at least. Unless she was loosing her powers of inflirtation as her mother called them.

WTF was this s**t? Why was there a tomb sitting out in the middle of a ******** furries and dead people, I'm so done with this place."

Robert didn't even give the tomb a second look before continuing onward.

(Proceeding without images this time around -- this post will be updated as the art is finished)

The West Door

With the exception of the bars and giant skull lock, the West Door looked remarkably similar to the North. The smooth stone had been worn away in front of it, as if a great many individuals had passed through it. Still, there was no handle on the face of the door, only the image of an aquatic serpent, crystal eyes gleaming back at you as the light catches the multi-faceted surface -- it does not look like opening it will be very easy. In fact, any attempt to open it would be met with a strong resistance, no matter how much force you apply.

What is really interesting, however, is the small, colored jewels that lay scattered on the stone floor, seemingly scattered at random. Even more strange, upon picking one up, it flashes in the student's palm, a voice echoing throughout the cavernous tomb.

"Those who cannot see into themselves cannot enter the Leviathan's Lair -- reveal your secrets, body, mind and soul."

It seems you're being asked to pick three stones from the eight: Ruby, Citrine, Cat's Eye, Emerald, Sapphire, Amethyst, Opal and Onyx.

Ooc: This is a combination game. Each student who approaches (please bold West Door if you approach, so I know you have done so) will be assigned a secret color combination. Your student must then choose three stones -- the serpent's eyes will flash green three times if all your stones are correct. If you have one wrong, its eyes will flash green twice, then once red. If you have two wrong, its eyes will flash green once and red twice, etc. Order does not matter. You will only be granted entrance into the room when you have guessed all three stones correctly -- you will also automatically receive a Mermaid's Purse and be pm'd a clue for the North Door combination for completing the task.

At the surface, the hooded figure listened quietly to any who spoke, staying silent until a question had been asked. It seemed many were frustrated, and yet this had no effect on the guards at all. The one who had been speaking previously seemed sympathetic, but otherwise did not offer any hints. They would have to be cunning to gain entrance -- trying things at random would provide infinitely less of a change at what they sought. Perhaps they should try to figure out what their friends had had in common?

Turning towards Israfel as he spoke, the hooded figure lowered her head a little in a mildly apologetic motion that clearly was a 'yes, we mind.' She did, however, look exceptionally puzzled at the word 'voi,' tilting her head to one side and humming slightly. "What is a voi?"

She did not, however, wait for a response -- others had begun to speak, and she looked to each of them in turn, answering the halloweentowner's questions promptly. To Sebastian, she looked slightly amused, although it was hard to tell beneath her hood. "Courtesy is always appreciated, however, it does not impact the reply," she answered mildly, seemingly ignoring the edge in his tone, "Only those worthy are allowed into the tomb -- approaching was not the qualification, merely an invitation at an attempt." At this, she nodded slightly to Muka, whom she seemed to agree with, although she seemed a little unamused by his scream.

Poke and Syb seemed to have similar ideas. Smiling a little in the light of the flaming torches, the figure unlaced her fingers and motioned a gloved hand towards the tomb door invitingly. "You may try -- it will not yield until the qualifications have been met."

It seemed only one this time was to be allowed in. At Vero's approach, the guard turned to eye him with interest, waiting until he had finished speaking before bowing to him as well, the door sliding open.

"If you are ready, you may enter."

Dariya, however, did not seem so lucky. "You may not gain entrance as of yet, neither by your own means nor ours."

There was the slightest of changes in the figure's posture when Ys spoke up again, however, a certain muted delight, if any were able to read into it. "Each way is the same, in concept, however in practice there are slight variations..." she replied, a slightly mischievous tone entering her voice, "We cannot tell you how to get in, however, we will give you a hint, for being so bold with your questioning... We read even your thoughts when deciding who may pass." It seemed it didn't necessarily need to be something spoken or done.

Amphi's attempt, while valiant, seemed to have no effect on the door.

"We are," the female guard replied to Aislin, "You, as any, may enter only when wit or luck prevails."

Sin seemed to have dropped any attempt to seduce her way in, but the guard did not change her own tone as she replied, thoughtful for a moment before offering an answer. "A type of key, yes. Not of copper or iron, however." It was an interesting question indeed, one that offered an interesting answer. "Secrets are what lie within. Secrets, and treasure to be sought."

She paid no mind to Robert, who seemed to not be interested anyway.
