Close your eyes.

Do you feel it? The chill running down your spine that has nothing to do with the cool, October night? The swirling mist that clings to your skin, leaving it cold and wet and your fingers numb the farther you move away from the cheery lights and laughs of the festival?

Do you hear it? No, you wouldn't... it's the silence, the stillness of the air that stops even your breath, leaving the air stagnant and clammy. Not even the flutter of a corrividus' wings...

Can you taste it? The taste of mold in your mouth -- it tastes like dirt lingering on your tongue, and you swear you could almost feel the grittiness between your teeth.

Welcome to the Tomb.

Tucked away behind the colorful tents and well-lit booths of the Floresctival grounds, a darker, yet no less alluring structure stands, half-hidden by the mist. Only the reflection of the moon against the smooth, white marble gives it away in the darkness, unnoticed except for out of the corner of your eye. Only then would you really look for it -- a winding dirt path, much less worn than the others around the festival, lead out into the graveyard of gnarled trees and moss-covered stones, every so often illuminated by a standing torch, fire licking the eye sockets of a skull from the inside. More and more the terrain gets a little rougher as you move, until you wander just a little further, finding that suddenly the rapidly-growing rocks have suddenly changed into tombstones and weeping angels.

You turn around, just to look over your shoulder at the faint glow of the floresce festival... you could walk back, if you wanted. It's not too late, or too far. But there's a chill in the air that entices any Halloweentowner, reminding them of what their town really is all about.

It makes you feel alive.

Turning around, the tomb looms before you, so close you wonder when you got so near without realizing it. The marble, so bright from a distance, looks a little greyed from where you stand now, dirt ground into the spiderwebs of etchings decorating it's surface. The gravestones are thicker here, interrupted by the dead ivy climbing up the walls of the tomb, and if you tilt your head up, you notice two weeping angels sit atop the roof, bent over their cupped hands. But nothing draws the attention like the door. Chiseled out of the stone of the foreboding doors, in a language all of Halloweentown can read, spell the words:

'APPROACH THE TOMB'

In front of the tomb, a cloaked figure you didn't notice before stands in front of the doors, a second one standing just behind and to the right of the first. Their faces are hidden from view, shadowed by the black material draped over head and shoulders to pool on top of the dirt at their feet, but you can tell they're watching you and your friends by the way the occasional light sometimes catches and reflects off their eyes. It seems they're not going to speak, however, unless spoken to...

Perhaps you should ask them some questions?

TRICK OR TREAT BONESMAN

PostPosted: Mon Jul 11, 2011 2:50 pm

OOC:

This is primarily a puzzle booth, one that combines aspects of wit, luck and speed to earn you minipets! It does not cost anything to play, however please note that the last week of floresctival, there will be an endgame, which will cost two seeds if you want a chance at the rare minipet. In addition, you will have to have learned the secret lock combination, for which hints will be given along the way.

So how does this booth work, exactly? Well, that's where your wit comes in -- we're not going to tell you. The first step of the game is to approach the tomb, which you may do by merely rping your student... but will you be allowed inside? And what determines whether you move on?

Notes:

This game WILL put you out of your comfort zone! This game might be frustrating. We're not going to tell you how to advance, only that you did -- do know though that there is a method to the madness. It has nothing to do with RP skill or length, however, as your first and likely only hint, it is beneficial to you to write more than one line.

Even if you have gained access to the tomb (or any of the rooms inside,) you are allowed to stay back with your friends, if you wish. You may also return to any of the rooms you have been granted access to. You are also allowed to confer with your friends about the game, but if you figure something out please keep the secret close to your chest -- this is a secret society, you know.

Minipets will be given away for free, even if you can't seem to advance! However, the method, like the method of advancement, is a secret~ One that can be learned, if you're clever~

Ys approached the Tomb warily. It wasn't the darkness or the lonely, forgotten atmosphere that made her scales prickle. It wasn't even the decay and cold. There were such places in the deep of the ocean, after all, and she felt a certain affinity for sites of horror. She couldn't quite put her finger on what it was, but it definitely was enhanced by the presence of the cloaked and shrouded haunts as she noticed them after taking in the inscription in the stone of the doors.

With a start and an involuntary step backward, she looked from one to the other without recognition and a distinctly uneasy feeling. Were they ghosts? As a monster, something about ghosts creeped her out. They were too... too otherworldly. A few moments crept by with nothing more passing between them than her open regard before she finally got up the nerve to approach the tomb and speak to the shadowy figures.

"Ah.." Well, that was an articulate start. She cleared her throat, which sounded a bit like someone sputtering, maybe drowning, and then asked the first question that popped into her watery little head. "Whossse tomb isss thisss?"

Jericho approached the tomb with a hint of caution. The mist in the area had him a little on edge as it vaguely reminded him of his time on the island. Even so, that didn't deter him from continuing on. He wasn't sure what this place was exactly, but that was a part of its lure. Who knows what sorts of shinies laid within those old stone walls?

Seeing one other student in the area that he didn't recognize, he nodded to her briefly before looking back at the tomb.

"What lies inside?" he asked the weeping angels. The sea monster had asked who, but he was also curious as to what the person within the tomb was. Perhaps that would give him a little more insight on whether there were shinies to be had.

Oh, it was wonderful! Syb clasped her hands over her heart as she reverently approached the tomb, feeling that destiny was about to touch her. She was silent as the ghoul wearing the helmet thing asked whose tomb it was, watching both the ghoul and the cloaked person, then looked at the dragon boil as he asked what was in it.

"May we go inside?" she asked, hopefully. "Oh it looks ever so terrifying!" she added happily, her eyes huge as she looked up at the tomb. The weeping angels, oh how she admired the details. The foreboding atmosphere, it sent a little chill down her spine. Such a glorious place!

Having failed at a number of the florefestival booths Oppa was looking for something else to occupy his short attention span. As he walked along the festival he noticed a chilly air coming from behind the main thoroughs of the booths. The path between the tents leads way to a tomb, a few other halloweeners have gathered there already.

The words 'APPROACH THE TOMB' were written into the huge doors of the tomb. Direct instructions, Oppa liked that. He walked straight up to the doors bypassing the other students, and pulled hard on the doors. They didn't budge. Then he tried pushing, and kicking and still no luck.

"WELL? I APPROACHED? NOW WHAT?" His voice was way too loud for the situation, and the ringing it made caused him to wince at his own brashness.

((i have an OOC question if we rp in here are we still allowed to do so in other booths? or is it restricted to one? if this is answered somewhere else sorray!))

Ulmuka had needed to take a breather from the craziness of the festival. He started to stroll, stretching his arms and wings underneath the pumpkin moon. His grin was static though he closed his eyes to enjoy the breeze in his feathers and hair without the distraction of sight.

"OOF!" Of course without the distraction of sight he seemed to walk straight into a rather large, thick tombstone. The strix let out a strained giggle as he rubbed his thighs where the stone had so rudely interrupted his walk. He followed the line of tombstones that followed it until his golden gaze lifted to the eerie glow of a tomb. Excitement bubbled up inside of him. This was so much more pleasant than that awful glitter-filled haunted house!

The strix's long strides brought him into the small group of students and all he said was, "Ooooooooooo..." until he noticed his darling beastie Sybaline by his side.

"SYB!" The owl-teen screeched and lifted the petite patchwork almost over his head in glee, spinning her around. he brought her back into his embrace and rubbed his face into hers affectionately before finally placing her back on her feet. His eyes darted to the other two there, a boil with dragon wings and a girl with a fish bowl over her head.

"I'm Ulmuka.." He offered his hand to the boil and the ghoul with a grin. A new boil walked over, shouting at the tomb, and Muka giggled at him and also offered his hand in introduction. He'd learned from the Haunted House that it was very much worth it to stick together. Would it be the same here?

It was the second hooded figure who finally spoke, stepping forward slightly to address Halloweentown's students. The fire of the torches illuminated them all with an eerie, gold glow -- little reflections off Ys' scales and the dragon's warm red wings -- but it seemed the void of the hood sucked all but the faintest of light. There was, however a little reflection off the figure's eyes, letting them know that she looked at them each in turn, the hood swiveling slowly to appraise them. Only after all three had spoken did they finally speak up, their tone distinctly feminine -- at least they now knew the second was a she.

"Here be the tomb of the Skull and Bones..." she canted under her breath, a murmur that would have been barely audible, if not for the utter silence around them. It was a vague answer, but then again, it had been a vague question. Her attention turned to Jericho, settling on him despite how he eyed the angels. "Secrets lie inside. Secrets, and treasure for the most worthy."

It was Syb, however, who seemed to catch her attention the most, her gaze lingering on the girl for quite a long time before dipping her head. It was a definite affirmative... and yet the doors did not open. Hm... it seemed that while yes, they would be allowed inside, the answer to that question was not yet. Or at least... not for her.

Perhaps it was Oppa's boldness that caused both hooded figures to look over at him as he tried to open the tomb door, both cocking their head in a synced motion that was... a little bizarre. Still, they didn't seem to make any motion to restrain him, instead waiting for him to speak before the hooded ghoul stepped towards him, the flutter of a robe brushing against his skin as she slowly slid open the lid of the tomb, revealing a spiral staircase leading below. Stepping back, she bowed at the waist. "Now... you enter."

It seemed, however, that none of the others were to be allowed in yet.

OOC: Chesh's 'Oppa' is allowed entrance to the main tomb!

Also, yes you may rp at other booths while at this one <3 Also, you may make an rp post walking into the dark tomb, upon which I will post a description for the next area, or you may stay behind for now -- you will be able to move on at any point now that you have access.

His eyes hurt. Or rather, his eye hurt. It had taken in far too much for such a short period of time, and now he needed to rest it. Slowly the threshold for information was going up, but even several hours of new information at a quick pace was going to cause him to bleed out of his eye socket and then it would be a bigger mess than it was worth.

He'd take a break, then try it again. A small and innocent-enough seeming walk had been at hand. But the further he got from the festivities that were paining him, the more the atmosphere seemed to change... but Invictus was not daunted by any sort of change. It would have taken quite the feat to actually terrorize the horseman...
....
......

or one of his female associates. They held a sort of magical godly status on Invictus's psyche, even if he wasn't always quick to react to their taunts and teases upon him. But nevertheless, they had the power to get underneath his skin in a way that only his father rivaled.

Perhaps it was that whole 'I respect these individuals' thing.

It seemed, however, that there was a group gathering around a tomb, all turning their attentions upon the men who stood fast in front of it. Invictus looked at them, his 'odd' eye throbbing a bit as it started to commit things to memory. He seemed to be judging them while others made their own inquiries upon the pair.

Invictus listened as the others made their inquiries, seeming to hold fast on not making any of his own yet. This would be a suitable distraction indeed, and it was with a careful consideration he looked at the pair guarding the door after a survey of the others who had gathered.

His question was simple;

"Are the risks worth the reward?"

Oppa's hair stood on end as the figure brushed past him, the feeling was like nothing he had ever experienced before. His skin started to dry up and crack any place that was touched by the figure and only recovered as they went past.

"What are you?" Oppa asked with a frightened and slightly disgusted look. Most of the people he had encountered to this point had been rather, odd, but in a harmless way. These were the first creatures that really gave him pause.

He peered into the tomb that was opened before him. It was cold, very cold. Oppa hesitated for a moment and glanced back at the other students. Gathering a tight grip onto his club he shouted back "Fortune favors the bold!" before diving into the tomb. However, once inside he wondered, "Death also favors the stupid."

(also you guys write so eloquently @3@! I'll try to keep up poorly haha.)

((I posted a thing in here last night but then sheepishly deleted it because I didn't know if I was "doing it wrong" -- bah! Take two, if allowed!))

The attempts that Herryk had made at making friends during his stay at the Florestival had him feeling quite proud of himself. As he perused the booths here and there, he stopped now and then to play a free game. So far he'd netted one shiny pumpkin seed of which he was quite proud, and he'd failed at another game. This failure had left him feeling quite annoyed.

Annoyed, that is, until he felt the chilly lick of discomfort sweep up his spine. Clutching his pumpkin seed to his chest, Herryk sloooowly turned to face the tomb. He was drawn to it -- either by some unknown force or simply because the words etched into the stone ordered him to.

Like a moth to a cold, chilling flame, Herryk did as the words ordered. He approached the tomb. Slipping past the other boils and ghouls that surrounded the eerie place, Herryk turned his attention to the two cloaked figures standing before the tomb.

Clearing his throat, he boomed, "I'm here for the tomb?"

Jericho's eyes lit up at the angel's answer. This sounded like a worthwhile venture. Treasures were something he sought, and secrets can often lead to more wonderous things.

Grinning, he glanced towards the others who had come by before approaching the tomb a little more.

"Well we're here. Taken the first steps approached... Why don't you let me in?" he asked firmly.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 12, 2011 12:07 pm

The cloaked figure visibly turned her head slowly to look over at Oppa, no other muscle visibly moving under the long, flowing cloak. Although the back of her head was to the flames of the torches now, the tangibility with which she stared at him was unmistakable. For a moment, there was more silence, only the sounds of subtle breathing, and even then it didn't seem to be coming from beneath the cloak. And the voice which did was a little chilling, although clearly mildly amused by his disgust. "Trick or Treat..."

Watching him leap down into the tomb, the cloaked figure was just about to close the roof again when more students began arriving, her eyes momentarily flicking to Invictus. There was a short, visible bow to him, signifying his status before she turned to Herryk. It was only then that she stopped closing the tomb, straightening again to reopen it and motion for him to enter.

To Jericho, she merely smiled, although it was more a felt smile than a visible one.

"Who said I wouldn't let you in?"

It seemed Jericho, too, had entered the ranks.

OOC:

Sorry, postponing the description of the inner tomb to the NEXT post, since now we have three who are able to get in~ Pinch's 'Herryk' and Blade's 'Jericho' are allowed entrance to the main tomb!

Pinch: I wondered why you deleted your post! You are still allowed to participate, of course <3
