Shinzu nodded as the Mayor spoke, so they'd lost track of the miners, and had no idea where they went. Well it did make a strong arguement for the miners being the ones behind the raids. "We'll check out the old village and the mountains tomorrow. For now we'll just make sure the raids stop tonight." Shinzu said before taking another bite, the last one actually, of his beef. "So far Andou-Sensei hasn't said anything so it isn't too much trouble. if anything it's something we can handle, right Andou-Sensei, and Batsu?" Shinzu said as he turned to his Sensei who was in his own little world and then his new teamate, who he knew little about.

Batsu was continuing to stuff his face with the delectable food placed before him. Of course, he was graceful with his eating, but it was just SOOO good.He still listened to the conversation going on and overheard Shinzu ask his question. Obviously it was asked in order to give the mayor a bit of a confidence boost. It wouldn't have mattered though. He was sure that he'd deliver on his end. So he had no issues giving a nod to the mayor. The problem was that he wasn't so sure about Shinzu. Hell, the only thing that he knew about the boy was the fact that he was hyper. Everything else was a mystery to him.

[Sorry want to speed things along, and my B for not posting for ages!]

The mayor sighed, but composed himself as Shinzu spoke. "All right," he said. "I hope you enjoyed the beef, by the way. It's Asagi beef. We just got it delivered yesterday." His smile was weary and in the dim light, his wrinkles showed.

Andou for his part merely nodded. He'd only just zoned back into the conversation after polishing off his last uni sashimi with great disappointment. So the beef was of Asagi stock? Then it was no wonder it had been so tender. Asagi beef, from the Fire Country, was famous for its tenderness and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Apparently this came from giving the cows pampered lives and the best feed money could buy. In Andou's opinion, it was quite impressive that Daichi had managed to procure such expensive goods from the Fire Country of all places. "Of course, Akara. Don't worry, Mr. Mayor," he said smoothly. "I have utmost confidence that my team will be able to perform up to par."

After dinner, the mayor stood up before Andou and his team had any chance to. "What are your plans for tonight? Let us know if there's anything in particular we could do to make your job easier."

Andou for his part was out of his food daze and as close to normal as he could get. "As my team said, we'll be staking out and keeping an eye over the town tonight," he said. (Of course, "we" meant "Shinzu and Batsu".) "Any rations or snacks for the night would be appreciated but not expected. We are trained shinobi, after all," he said in a satisfied manner. "Ready to go to the Bird's eye now?" he asked Shinzu and Batsu, figuring that they would figure out, or had already figured out, who would do what.

Batsu looked up at Andou from his food and swallowed what would seem to be his last bite of food. He overheard talk about the Bird's Eye. That was his area of the mission. Batsu stood up and out of respect, he bowed to the mayor and showed his gratitude for the food. "Thank you for the food sir. The spread was plentiful and delicious." He stood erect again and turned his attention to Andou. He made sure his bow was secured on his back then gave a nod. "I'm ready to go."

Shinzu thanked the Mayor for the information and the delicious food, before leaving the room with Andou and Batsu. "Andou Sensei, I'd like to travel around the city whilst Batsu observes form the Bird's eye, wiht you permission of course." Shinzu asked with a light grin as they exited the Mayor's place. All he knew for sure was that tonight was for to be very interesting, if not long.

Mr. Mayor nodded. "Very well. I'll see to it that rations are provided in due time. I'm leaving it all to you." He got up, nodded at them, and left the room, leaving them to dismiss themselves, return to their inn room, or whatever they'd wish to do. One man stayed in the room however and saluted at them.

"I'm ready to take you to the Bird's eye whenever you wish, sirs!"

Andou nodded at well. "That sounds good, Akara. Let's all follow this man..." (He looked at the guy, who saluted again. "SHOU, SIR!") "Let's all follow Shou-san to the Bird's eye first. I'd like to see this aerial view of the town for myself."

Bird's Eye.

Image

The rickety watchtower is at the end of the town, about 700-750m away from the last building. It's a short building, but its location with ground level about 500m higher than the rest of Daichi makes it an ideal place to keep an eye on the goings-on of the town. Within the watchtower are several supplies: a coil of rope, a torchlight, and binoculars.

Currently nothing much is going on in Daichi - just the movements of people within the town, people getting off work and going back home, and people closing up shop for the day. The town lights burn brightly in the darkness.

[In case it's not clear, Daichi is situated in a valley]

Batsu stayed at the back of the pack as Shou lead the way to the watchtower. After about ten minutes of walking through hills, the team was lead to a seemingly old tower. Batsu's mind began to wonder since this place was his spot. He had an aerial advantage and there was a slit through the walls so he could do some sniping if need be. However, it looked as though one strong gust of wind and the thing looked like it would collapse. Oh well... Batsu reached in his bag and pulled out the earpiece that was given to him. He stopped and stared at Andou for further instruction. Meanwhile, he was placing the receiver into his right ear.

"I wish to stay here, Andou-san. I'd rather not take the chance of the bandits striking while we're unprepared. You two will be alerted of any suspicious activity."

User ImageTwo blue people appeared in the Birds Nest tower, both sporting Kirigakure headbands. The taller one, male with bushy blue hair that tied into a ponytail behind him, pushed the smaller one forward a bit, obviously Masaraku, a deep gnash in her uniform on her right shoulder with a recently healed, but scarred wound beneath it. The male spoke first, saying You can 'ave 'er back now, we may need her again in the future so don't go to far without talking to us first." He looked down at Masaraku as if expecting something, the girl was obviously much more shy around her own clan than she was amongst others, it was obvious in the way that she buried her head and hid behind her hair. Nonetheless she gave a long and respectful bow to the elder and mumbled something along the lines of Thank you for escorting me here Kimari-sensei." Her body was shaking before the man for fear of error in anything she did, god forbid she screw up before her own family. The elder man said, Speak up gal, you know I got water in ma 'er." Masaraku turned a bright red and spoke louder, I was thanking you for the escort Kimari Sensei. I appreciate you letting me return to the team to assist with the mission." If he called her out again she would burst into tears.
The large man wiped his hand across his upper lip and said, Damn woman. You need to grow a pair if you ever want to be one of the Seven." He looked back at Andou and gave a half a** salute as he stepped off the birds nest and disappeared. When he was gone Masaraku didn't move for a moment, then she wiped her eyes and stood up from her bow, taking a deep breath. I'm sorry about that Andou-sensei, I hope my absence did not inconvenience the team at all." She had chosen to move on as if nothing had happened, after all, most people are afraid of seven and a half foot tall shark men with giant swords, right?

Andou gave the tower, and then Batsu, a short once-over, before finally nodding. "That sounds good. You do that." He turned to Shinzu and Shou and was about to speak when the Hoshigakis appeared, quite stylishly. It seemed that Masaraku was back.

Masaraku, who was nowhere near as assertive and confident as she'd been earlier. That was an interesting shade of purple, Andou noted as he nodded at Kimari with the same level of sincerity he perceived was being conveyed towards him. (Which was not a lot.)

"It's fine," he said absently while rummaging in his yukata. He finally drew out yet another walkie-talkie and handed it to Masaraku. "I hope you are prepared for instant action. You'll be accompanying Akara here on your patrols around Daichi. Either you split up or work together, work out what fits best for you." Andou shrugged. "See you, Watanabe. Good luck. Radio if you need any assistance. I want a quick report every half an hour." He turned to Masaraku and Shinzu, clearly expecting them to start work as well. "Good luck to you too. Be more careful since the team medic isn't with you. Radio if you need assistance and I would like reports too please."

Batsu was continuing to put the earpiece in his ear when he heard a bit of a commotion. The boy turned and saw a couple of Hoshigaki. One of them was huge in stature and actually looked like he could kick some a** if need be. The smaller of the two turned out to be Masaraku... or raher the shell of Masaraku. What was once a strong and independent female turned into a submissive female. He felt bad for her to be honest. She was bowing to the man and clearly looked like she was about to cry. Even when she was thanking the elder for escorting her, she sounded like she had a lump in her throat

Masaraku definitely needed to snap out of her funk or she would be of little use to the team. So Batsu felt it necessary to antagonize Masaraku. Hopefully the girl would come to. "So... " Batsu turned his head and started fidgetting with the earpiece again. "... they let you out on good behavior?"

Shinzu was certainly glad that he didn't have to stay in that rickety building, in fact Shinzu thought it'd just fall apart in two people got in it. When two large blue people suddenly appeared in front of him Shinzu couldn't help but jump back, but soon he calmed down slightly when he realized who they where. He couldn't help ut notice though that Masaraku seemed oddly nervous, since she was usually annoyingly obnoxious. Shinzu simply shrugged, it wasn't his issue, then again if she was unable to focus on the mission properly because of it... "Masaraku come on let's go, we'll talk about what we'll do on the way to the village." Shinzu said with a smile, maybe just being away from teh general area of the others would get the old obnoxious her back. She'd be a better fighter if she wasn't acting so... skittish.

User Image With Kimari gone the old Masaraku came back in full swing at the sound of Batsu's joking voice. "How about you joke around a little less and get back to your job." She rolled her eyes and headed off with Shinzu. When they were a bit away she spoke to Shinzu without looking. "Mind filling in the gaps on what is going on around here?" He gills glowed blue for a brief moment as she searched the area to get a whiff of what was normal for the valley air. "And what our orders are as far as how we are allowed to dispose of the enemy." She didn't want to talk about what had just happened, anything but that was fine.

"The Village has been attacked by bandits repeatedly. We ate dinner with the Mayor but he doesn't know who's up to it, though he thinks he has an idea." Shinzu said without looking at her as they began to enter the village, before going on. "Tonight we're just going to watch over the village so we can only attack if attacked, and you need to watch where you attack, we don't want to hurt any civvies." As they entered the village Shinzu noticed everyone was heading in, and it wasn't even dark yet, they had to be nervous about the Bandits. "Well we can either travel through the village together or each cover our own area. Honestly I think it'd be best to work together, that way should we encounter multiple enemies we won't get overwhelmed. Besides it'll make it easier for Batsu to support us." Shinzu said, stopping where he stood and turning to face her for the first time.

Batsu rolled his eyes and climbed the rickety ladder into the rickety building. Right off the bat, the boy grabbed the binoculars and started watching everything from above. This felt like it was his niche. The boy was likely to be the first to know and it seemed like everything was solely revolved around him. He wasn't one for attention, but it felt nice to actually have something to do.
