As his mind struggled to come to terms with the current situation, he caught movement near him, and saw that someone else had woken up. He kept silent, not sure how to approach the other. Was he aware of the situation? Eta V had previously checked the cellphone that was strapped to his waist, so he was aware of what they were supposed to do. But it just made talking to others so much harder...

What was the other thinking? would he be a alley? or a enemy?

At his question, his gaze rested on the third table, and he saw the map there. Brilliant! a map would be quite useful, and something else to think about instead of these ghastly ideas. For now, he nodded to the other, and moved towards the table to look it over.

The map itself held vital information, and it was enough to give him some idea of where he was, which was a island. Where the location of the island was, he couldn't say, nor could he remember anything familiar about the locations the map pointed to...Except the cornfields. It reminded him of a movie he once saw...

Slowly, more people began to awake and amass themselves around the table and began to talk about their next move. One of them, Eta-4 by the name of the mask, suggested the idea of them being a team. A team...it was a welcome idea. People he could trust...and not have to consider killing.

However, he remained silent, trying to form some sort of plan as the others talked about scouting and then, left the tent. Perhaps he would follow them on their mission...perhaps he would not. He had to consider all ideas.

Time passed and still the remaining 9 were not talking to one another, inaction made him itch, it was all well and good remaining here for a while to get a good plan of what everyone intended to do, of the characters that filled the tent and ultimately if he desired to place his trust in their hands, if he wanted to remain with anyone of them, he didn't enjoy the prospect of going it alone but neither would he entrust his life to fools, at least one or two in the tent he hoped he could form some sort alliance with.

He walked away from the table with the craved map and made his way to his bed and sat on it's edge then twisted and perched his elbows comfortably upon the board at the end of the bed and stared at those in the room, not focusing on any individual but trying to access each one of them, how they interacted, how they reacted and how they moved, he studied them. Then finally he decided it was time to provoke them into talking, into planning and ultimately reacting. 'Okay then, 3 have left, 9 of us remain. Can anyone tell me why, where or when the other 3 left? Are they to return with information, were they to scout the area is what I am getting at or have they simply left?'

((η XI is entering))

η XI finally returned to their camp by himself after taking a rather haphazard route back. He looked around and listened, then turned off his sneaking mode
and walked normally to the tent. He poked his head in, not seeing much activity.

"Buh, yo' all so boring. He complained, walking in and looking at what looked like a Civil War hospital tent. "They kill y'all already? Where's Sixie at? These stupid helmets done make everyone look like clones."

η X squinted at his surroundings, including the other individuals still in the base.

"Where.. who..," he thought to himself. It was all a confusing blur, void of any useful information telling him where he was and what was going on. He looked down at his own hands as if they would tell him everything, but they were just gloved and looked like the others'. It wasn't until he felt a small vibration on his belt that he actually interacted with something. Seeing what seemed to be a phone, he grabbed it and opened it, reading the latest message.

So these people.. he was paired with them. Taking a second, he looked around and counted. It definitely didn't add up to 13, which meant there were more somewhere. Or maybe they were expected to create more group members... he didn't know how they would do that. Pff, they -- he didn't even know these people, hadn't said a word, and he was using 'they' as if it was already a certain team! No matter what, he had to do something. Being killed? What had he gotten into?

Maybe he could call for help. It was a phone, he knew that and how to use it; but the attempts were futile, these other buttons did nothing. He could only read the first message informing him of this horror.

Tucking the phone away, η X got up and watched someone grab supplies. He would be needing those too, he reckoned. Making his way to grab a first aid kid and supply pack, he felt oddly excited and thought for a minute. It felt like.. something he had seen before. Or knew of. Something on a screen, and there were buttons. His fingers twitched. "Action.. adventure." He didn't get it. All he felt was, in a sense, ready for.. something -- to be as bad-a** as possible? What?

He tried to shrug off the odd excitement and opened his backpack to inspect what was inside. All he found were several bandages. For some reason, η X felt disappointed it wasn't something more invigorating. Just.. bandages. He was pretty sure most of the others had wooden stakes and someone even had nun-chucks. Bandages weren't cool like nun-chucks. Sighing, he closed up the bag and slid the straps on. Oh well.

Supplies were in check, but.. what was next? η X wasn't paying attention to others until someone actually spoke. The guy mentioned three others, and by what he said, it seemed three of their "group" just up and left them already. That didn't seem like a good start.

"I.. I don't know," he said, trying to add his two cents.

It wasn't until someone with an XI on their helmet entered the tent and asked for someone that he became more confused. "Sixie?" he asked with a lost expression. Who the heck was Sixie?

η XI rolled his eyes, although it probably wasn’t all that noticeable through his mask. “Sixie. You know, η VI. Dumdum, have you seen her around?” It was hard to pick people out when they all had on the same clothes. This person had η X on his helmet. Although, unlike Sixie, he would probably be called Dumdum until a new name popped into η XI’s head. He decided to fill the conscious people in on what had happened.

“η IV, η IX and I went to the windmill down that way, and Sixie stayed here with you guys in case anyone showed they’s ugly mugs. While we were out we met some from the γ group. Seems like they don’t mind making a truce with us until we’re the only ones left and have to figure out who out of the 24 of us will be the last 13. ‘Though, some thought it good to make small mixed groups with a few from each of our teams, but nunna that’s been decided.”

(( OOC: Catching up, sorry! ))
Soon, some of the others had aroused from their slumber and gravitated towards the third table with the map. Eta 6 and 9 spoke, and they had a point - where were they?

Eta II remained silent. Scouting would be the most logical way to orientate themselves, but scouting......in this situation? It's probably safer in the tent with people you know who aren't going to attack you - yet. He pursed his lips under his mask, feeling a little disappointed in himself. Yea, maybe I'm really a coward.

Eyeing Eta XI as he kicked up a little fuss - quite a grumpy one, he thought - he watched as Eta IV literally sprung to her feet and get onto business, assembling a scouting team. Woah, someone's really into this.
Stepping aside as Eta IV took the map and IX carved a replica on the table, Eta II offered what little help he was willing to give at the moment. "I'll stay here and watch out for the rest for now. Tell us whatever you guys manage to gather, thanks." Eta II made sure that he didn't add anything stupid sounding like "stay safe" this time.

And then the trio left the tent.

It had been awhile since the scouts went out to scour the area, some of the others had risen. Eta II hung around the tables, observing the others and mostly, waiting. The tent was silent, uncomfortably (maybe) silent. Perhaps I should say something, Eta II pondered. Maybe they could make a tally of the items in the backpacks and break into smaller, organised squads. That might keep them alive a little longer once they had to face the inevitable. Eta II was resigned to using the term "they". These people were the best form of security he had at the moment.

Someone entered the tent - Eta XI. Finally
The information XI brought back was a little unnerving. So there WERE others. The truce bit was all fine and dandy, but "...make small mixed groups with a few from each of our teams" ? That sounded a little like they were fraternizing with the (eventual) enemy. Where would he stand in that alliance? It seemed to him though, loudmouthed as he may be, that Eta XI might actually be somewhat dependable. At least more than the other two who have yet to return.

"Where are IV and IX? Are they still with those from the other camp?"
"And while we're at it, perhaps we should make a tally of the items in the backpacks." Eta II pulled out the small nunchucks from his backpack. "I've got these, what do you guys have?"

He looked over at η II. “Yup. They’s checkin’ out the windmill. I’m thinkin’ of goin’ back and keepin’ watch on them.” He felt bad sort of ‘ditching’ the girls, but they were being all diplomatic, so he thought he’d play messenger for a bit. η XI would go back very soon, though, to make sure they were okay.

η XI obliged, holding his stake up. “I got this. It’s a killer toothpick.” He thought, visualizing what had happened earlier. “η IV has nunchucks, and η IX has a dagger.” His mind fought to remember what the others had. “Uh… I think I seen a gun and a dagger in the γ group. I don’t remember what else.” He looked around, then back towards the door. “I’m going to go back in a sec. Questions? Not too many details. I’m not smart enough for all that.”
PostPosted: Sun Apr 03, 2011 1:25 am

Eta II made a mental list:

η I
η II - nunchucks
η III
η IV - nunchucks
η V
η VI
η VII
η VIII
η IX - dagger
η X
η XI - stake
η XII

Eta II looked at the others expectantly, not that they could see that.

Eta II turned back to Eta XI. It would be better to have him checking up on them yes....
The cellphone strapped to his belt lighted up once more. Picking it up, he stared at the screen which read:
>>Read New Message<<
.
..
...
Eta II felt his hands grow cold. The race was REALLY ON. II looked at XI. The two of them probably shared a few thoughts.

Day 7....
Sure the pendant would ensure one's survival, but to have it now? I'd rather let the people fight it out till Day 7, having it anytime sooner......bodes A LOT OF TROUBLE.

"You should go," Eta II said, "and see if they've found anything."
Vague was the way to go.
"Oh," he added, "find out how chummy those two are with those from Gamma too."
Less than 5 was a small number. Certainly, this news would cause division amongst big groups. .....And what if the scouts were already onto something? Eta II balled his hand into a fist. The absent scouts worried him deeply. Then again, 13 can survive, there are less than 5 pendants.....it's probably not worth the risk for now.

The buzz of the cell phone was annoying. I feel like I must not have been the sort to carry one of these around. Before this point in time, η XI hadn’t really thought about his past life. He didn’t particularly care, though. He doubted he’d see it again, and then he’d miss it if he knew what it was.

He checked the text and frowned. Pendants were stupid and for girls. He wasn’t too into this whole adventure thing.

η XI nodded to η II, then he turned and left the tent, taking another weird, roundabout route to make sure he couldn’t be traced back.

Eta V felt like he should be saying something...anything, to the other people here, but he found he was at a loss for words. It was one thing to be self conscious, but it was another to start talking to others without really knowing them, encase he would say something stupid, and lower his chances of survival. But, someone had asked a question, and he felt compelled to answer them. "...The three that have left have gone to scout, as you said" Eta V eventually explained, the first thing had had said since...he could could remember. "I believe they will return..I just don't know when."

Soem time later, someone did return, asking for 'sixie'. His eyes went wide then, as he noted the other two were not with . Not only that, but it seemed they have formed a truce with another team. A doubled edged blade, in his opinion. But for now it seemed they had earned a reprieve from at least one set of people.

Suddenly, the phone on his belt began to buzz, and he found himself jumping out of shock, his shacking hands struggling to pick up the device and read it's contents.

"...w-what?" he said out loud, forgetting momentarily that there were others here. He re-read the message, mumbling the words under his breath. "Less then 5 pendants...guarantee your survival...day seven?"

He took a shaky breath, mind whirling at this new information. If he had a pendant...he would live? he wouldn't die...he would be safe!

"Wait...no...not worth it...to many people to fight...more of a risk..." He began to pace around, nervous energy seeping through his body. He knew there were others around; the mp suggested more places and n XI had just told them of the other base. That meant many more people were here. He knew some would be now rushing out of their bases to go and find these pendants, and then they would try to fight everyone else for them as well. Plus, having a pendant before day seven...well if anyone found out, that person would be a huge target.

Finally looking up to the others in the room, he then looked down and continued to pace. He had been here for some time, while others had already ventured outside and talked to more people. "Should I stay...should I go..I can't leave the people here who are still asleep...but I can't stay here forever..." it seemed Eta V was trying hard not to panic, but to reason to himself on his next course of action...although he was being rather verbal about it, which may not of been a good thing.

((η VII entering))

A small form still lying on one of the cots finally stirred, slowly coming around to the sound of voices and a persistent buzzing sound. She fought against the thick fog that clouded her mind, until it finally cleared enough that she could sit up. She shook her head, which didn't help at all, and then decided to try standing. Her first attempt was a complete failure, and she quickly sat back down, waiting a little longer. She looked over to the other figures, noticing first their strange attire, which a quick check showed that she, too, wore. Somewhere in the back of her mind, it occurred to her that they had all woken before her, and seemed to be well over the effects of whatever they'd been drugged with. A thought drifted up from depths of her mind - It must have hit me harder because of my size. The thought itself puzzled her, but drifted away again before she could consider it further.

The buzzing finally caught her full attention, and she noticed a cellphone at her waist. Checking it, she read the messages, and frowned to herself. Three days? Since what? And seven days until there could be only thirteen survivors... out of how many? The faint memory of a room full of people came to her - was it just a dream? She hoped it was just a dream. A quick count showed only nine people in the tent, she rather hoped there weren't too many more.

She finally tried to stand again, finding her legs much more steady this time. Quietly, she made her way over to the tables. The others had already taken most of the gear, so she grabbed one of the remaining first aid kits, and then turned to the table with the knapsacks. She started to reach for the closer one, before realizing they both had names - numbers? - on them. She suddenly realized she had no clue which one was hers; she had no clue what her name was! Or, come to think about it, who she was. She drew back sharply, before remembering the "dream" again, becoming uncomfortably aware that it was most certainly more than just a dream. Which means she'd been given a "number". A quick look at the others was enough to figure out where to check, and her fingers traced her gas mask, finding the designation "η VII". She grabbed the corresponding bag, and peeked inside to see a pair of nunchucks. Wonderful, she'd be as likely to hurt herself with those as to hit anything.

Shoving the first aid kit into the bag, she turned to face the other members of her "group". A surge of uncertainty hit her, but with a quick shake of her head she forced herself to walk over and join them. Still a little muzzy from waking up, though, she couldn't think of anything to say, so instead waited to see what was going on.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 03, 2011 4:27 am

His head swivelled then as one of the two still sleep began to awaken, he seemed as groggy as when he had first awoken and made similar steps, reaching down to discover the phone at his side, the same message as all of them had received thus far. He nodded softly at Eta X, he himself had been awake longer but he was finally grateful someone was at least responding to him. Another figure spoke them, to him it was hard to sex the bodies about him, they were all dressed in this heavy shapeless attire but the white markings on the side of their gas mask made him Eta V, they spoke, their voice giving him away as male. So the others had gone out to scout then, he nodded but before he could question the other further another figure dressed in the same blue attire as the rest of them burst into the tent.

He listened mutely, he took an instant dislike to the other his words seem to leave his mouth before he had considered them at all, he wasn't steady or calm, he seemed somewhat excited by this whole situation and tinged with a slight amount of panic. The only real key piece of information he got was that there were others besides the people he had awoken up to in this tent, another team. He smiled to himself knowing his first thoughts had been right, there were more out there, more competition and he feared the panic and actions which would follow, he needed to find at least one or two others he could trust to help see him through this. Waking up in a tent together didn't mean much to him but he knew how others minds worked, they would form instant alliances with those in the same colours, same original teams and he'd be had pushed to find others like himself that thought that meant nothing, he would form bonds because of sound judgement, not because of the colour of cloth he wore or where he happened to awaken.

He watched the other leave the tent again, actually glad to see their back. After he watched the tent flap close he reacted to the vibration he had felt in his pocket a moment earlier. He stared at the text on the screen, 5 pendants, 13 survivors. That meant there must be another ways to see this through, competition would be high for those pendants however and it would cause fighting among the larger majority that thought it was the only way to survive, not worth the risk yet however he stored the useful information to memory. He smiled to himself, he had plenty of space to form and store memories really have lost everything his head seemed very, clean and open, focused for this very moment and the events to follow.

Eta II had seemed calm and reasonable whilst talking with Eta XI and the suggestion to tally a list of what provisions/weapons the others held seemed like a sensible idea. He eyed the Nunchucks in his hands and he then let the strap of his rucksack slid from his shoulder, digging into the bag he with drew his knife and flipped in over in the hand once again, testing its weight and feel then held it up for Eta II to see. Then instead of placing it back into the back he tucked it comfortably into his belt. His attention was drawn by Eta V, he was reading the text aloud. He nodded as he spoke his own thoughts aloud, he was right they couldn't sit here forever but running blindly out of the tent was neither sensible right now and one of them still remained asleep, not for long.

He smiled as the final body stirred, just like the others they moved slowly, awaken from a deep sleep took a little time, they didn't speak at first and the room slowly began to fall into silence since Eta XI's departure. So he took the lead, 'Right then, for Eta VII, good morning and welcome to this forsaken place.' He drew everyone into his stare then, looking about the tent. 'As cosy as it is in here I don't think it a good idea we remain here for too long, there are others outside of this tent, as we know from the only scout to have returned and as we all know only 13 of us will see the events that follow out until the end. We must act.' He stared at them, hoping for a little understanding from at least a few of them. 'I don't suggest we go out of this tent in one large group, that would draw to much attention, there are 9 of us, we should split into two groups but still remain in friendly contact for as long as possible. We need to get some answers but I fear all we will find at first are more questions, this will take time and work but we will gather a broader idea of things if we work together.'

Eta II had seemed to have taken an intuition to gather a list, this demonstrated a calm calculated nature that he respected and also a certain amount of leadership. He rose from the bed and slowly hand his way over to stand next to Eta II, taking in the others. 'I will be so bold as to suggest I take the lead of one group and Eta II to take the lead of another. We will scout the area in teams and report back here every...' He thought a moment, they had no watches, no way of telling the time, the only thing they all had was their phone. This also gave them messages which ultimately informed then of certain things if at first the seemed vague, it was enough. 'We will all meet here every time we receive a new message. We will discuss our findings and see where to go from there. Does everyone agree to this?'

Again, another person seemed to take the role of leadership, and addressed them all in a small speech that seemed to calm down Eta V. It was something else to focus on, and more then that, this person seemed to hold similar ideas to him. Sort off. He detailed a plan though that seemed easy enough to follow. Split into two teams, scout the area, and return every time they received a message.

He had also seen the other take out his weapon, so that Eta II could take note of the weapons each person possessed. A paused followed, before he too took the Stake from the bag, holding it up for Eta II to see before placing it back inside. Deep inside, he hoped that this was not a mistake. He then turned to the other person. "I agree with you, and I would like to accompany you on your scout team, if you would allow me to.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 03, 2011 7:04 am

Eta II took note.

η I
η II - nunchucks
η III - dagger
η IV - nunchucks
η V - stake
η VI
η VII
η VIII
η IX - dagger
η X
η XI - stake
η XII

All weapons so far. Really Hardcore.

"Anyone else?" Eta II asked. It would be easier to split into more balanced subgroups this way.
Eta II watched as the others read the new message. Eta V was obviously shaken. Very shaken. Trouble, Eta II thought. Quiet, keeps to himself, fairly nervous interaction and worst of all, easily swayed by emotion and gets panicky quickly. God knows what he's thinking, he's like a ticking timebomb! Eta II made a mental note : Watch out for that one, or at least, keep an eye on him and try to reel him in.

But what Eta V's dilemma was real. And there was one more still sound asleep.

Was sound asleep.
The group watched as Eta VII trudged groggily towards the tables, claiming his/her supplies.

Right, now we need a Gameplan.

Eta III was quick to speak. Clearly, he was a confident, articulate one. One with a clear direction and a good sense of reason too. Eta II noted. Good that he's taking the lead.

Whatever reprieve from the burden of responsibility (in terms of moving the group along) Eta II had was short-lived. It appears that he has been very kindly volunteered into taking the lead, by none other than Eta III himself! Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

"......Does everyone agree to this?" finished Eta III. The others had yet to give a reply.

"I'll add once again that we should announce the supplies we have received. If we're going through with Eta III's plan, it's best that we split into balanced sub groups to ensure our maximum survival." Eta II continued.

He suddenly recalled that there were absent members. While he wasn't too concerned about the two that have not reported back, ditching XI without notice.....was a pity.

Perhaps we could leave a message for them here - no. The camp could be infiltrated by others while they were out......we certainly don't need any uninvited guests waiting for us back here.
Eta II battled in his mind, back and forth. In the end, he reasoned that that this issue had to be ignored for now.

A loud noise rang through the air. It was coming from outside...... and it certainly did not sound safe.

"We should hurry." Eta II said earnestly, his voice a little louder than before. Whatever was outside, they should get ready for it. ASAP. "Your cooperation, Please."

(( OOC : Shall we get into teams and take on the fabulous BOSS pony waiting for us? If so let's exit soon lol XD ))

The others seemed to be talking about courses of action, and while instinct was telling VIII that she should be pondering what it was she should do to survive, her mind was stuck on auto-pilot. It refused to budge from a single thought; She missed... she missed something. Someone? Multiple someones? Or was it just an item or an object she missed? Perhaps, it was none of the above, but rather, a place. All in all, VIII wasn't sure what it was that nagged at the back of her thoughts, but it was making thinking logically a rather difficult task.

Her gaze flew from one person to the other as they took turns talking, but still she remain to the side, her arms wrapped around her bag, clutching it tight against her chest, as if it were some sort of lifeline. In all honesty, had anyone bothered to ask her, she'd have told them that she thought this might all be a dream. A really bad, horrible nightmare, specially given the fact nothing seemed to make any sense. At least... not to her anyhow. Alas, she'd edged away from the main group and remain partially hidden behind one of the larger bodies, which was not particularly difficult for her, since she was rather lithe to begin with. Her cellphone vibrated and when she checked the message, she felt her heart sink to the bottom of her stomach. The notion that she might not make it alive out of that place was sickening, almost drowning her, and for a moment, she clutched her chest with a hand, near hyperventilating. She wasn't a warrior! She wasn't a fighter! What in god's name was she doing here? Trying to calm her nerves down, and only just managing to avoid hyperventilating, she turned to watch η III and η II as they spoke.

The notion of splitting up though, instantly set her off, and she finally ventured out from behind η I's body, which she'd actually been using as a shield of sort. Her hand lifted in the air where she stood, "Sir?" a pause followed, her hand curling and then lowering down; why had she done that? The reaction had been an instinctive one, and she had no idea why. Alas, she had very little time to process the stray thoughts, instead deciding it was in her best interest to at least make herself of some use, she spoke up, directing her voice (which was obviously breaking due to shock, fear and countless other emotions that clouded her mind), "If... if there are less then five pendants to be gained and.... so many of us, isn't it a risk to team up amongst us too? There are no emotional ties or bonds amongst us. Just a color," she swallowed the vile she felt creep up her throat, "What's to say we won't be in danger even amongst us?" She wanted to trust them all, desperately, but she wasn't sure whom would, or would not turn against them at any given moment. Groups should be formed through emotional ties, something that bonded them together other than a letter, a number or a color, "I think we should wait before making smaller groups... we should wait until we know each other just a bit better and we know whom we can trust and whom we get along with," there was another pause and she diverted her gaze away from them, "That's what I think."

Fear and the need for survival tended to make monsters out of people.

η VIII was unsure where that notion came from, but the moment it surfaced to the front of her brain, she shrunk back a step, her head turning towards the door, "Emotional ties..." this was murmured under her breath before she dig into her bag, dug out the extra bandages, frowned at them, and then looked back at her group members. Again she spoke up, pointing towards the exit, "I... I'll be waiting outside. I don't know what group I'm meant to go with, but I'll go with anyone that takes me," she seemed to concider her own words, a small sigh escaping her, "I still think it's a bad idea though," that said, she shoved her bandages back into her bag, and clutched it with both arms before walking outside.
