<< Eta IV entering the Town, heading toward Windmill >>

Outside the tent was a world cast in white.

The fog was so thick and dense that Eta IV was immediately happy to have the gas mask on. Who knew what could be in the fog? She led the group several paces from the tent, looking left and right. The railings and windows of some of the buildings were visible, but little else. There were no lights, no hum of electricity. It looked like everything the map called it: abandoned.

There was a larger building pushing out into the street. Eta IV turned to regard the other two scouts. "They look like houses," she said blandly. Up ahead, there was a windmill, but it seemed farther off. It was at the center of the entire area, it seemed.

Eta IV pointed up to the spinning blade. "Hey, look -- it's moving. Maybe there is a power source in there." It seemed worth a shot, if they checked it out.

((η XI is entering the Town, heading toward Windmill))

"Doesn't windmills use wind for power?" he asked, wondering why they would see any real purpose in lurking around something that would probably just have cobwebs in it. η XI shivered. He hated spiders. "If we see any spiders, we goin'. I don't wanna get bit. Stakes don't work so good on them."

Eta Four stopped abruptly. Wind and windmills. That made sense. "Oh, right," she said. "I meant that there must be some sort of system that keeps the, you know, axle and whatnot, like, able to... you know, spin and -- oh hey, look over there!" Four didn't like to look stupid, but it seemed to happen to her more often than she'd like.

Fortunately, there really was something up ahead, and it wasn't just a windmill. There were also more houses and more fog. She kept her nunchucks high in what she considered to be an attack-ready position. Truth be told, she had no idea how to use the things, other than to swing really hard and make loud noises while doing it.

"I can kill the spiders," she said. "I have the technology." And the balls, apparently. Four was much more afraid of getting stabbed than seeing a spider out here.

Her footsteps thudded lightly over the ground. "Where do you think the others are?" she asked the other two, trying to keep her eyes peeled. "The text said there would be thirteen survivors, and there's twelve of us back at Eta. So... how many others are there out there?" And perhaps more importantly, how soon would they be running into their competition for survival?

[η IX Entering the Town]

Sticking closely to the other members of her small group, Eta Nine's head swiveled left and right as she inspected her surroundings as best as she could through the dense fog. It was indeed an abandoned town, but the nagging worry in the back of her head was that it wouldn't be nearly as abandoned as they would like. They had no idea where the other groups were. What if they were all in the town, hidden amongst the buildings, and even now spying on them and planning their ambush? Her mind fretted with concern, though she did not voice these to her teammates. Still, she remained close to them. She'd hate to get lost in this dreadful fog.

"You're in a place where the intent is for us to kill each other, apparently, until only thirteen remain, and you're worried about spiders," Nine asked Eleven, her incredulous tone evident even through the mask's muffling of her voice. That just didn't make sense! "I'm not sure, but it'd be smart to keep a watchful eye out for any movement in this place," she said in response to Four's question, her own eyes moving even as she spoke softly, afraid of her voice carrying to the wrong ears. "This fog makes it easier for them to hide."

Unlike η IV, he didn’t have his weapon out. He had been walking with his hands folded up behind his head. Taking her lead- but with much less purpose- he dug into his knapsack and pulled out his stake. “Neh. This thing is so unimpressive. We shoulda got bazookas. Real ones. Or a tank!” He eyed η IV’s nunchucks. “That don’t look like no technology. They is just giant chopsticks stuck together. Throw yo phone at them. That’s using technology.”

η XI frowned at their third member. “’Course spiders is scarier! They got a bazillion legs and scurry like evil incarnate!” He wiggled his fingers to demonstrate. “Imagine if one of those came at you! What if they’s even bigger here in fogland?” He had almost no concern over the possibility of others coming after them. In his mind, a well placed punch would do the trick. Or a stake up where no one wanted it.

Eta Four did not have the same careful, rational thoughts that Nine did. It would probably behoove her to learn to be more cautious, but she was a knight chasing down a dragon. She saw a mountain and wanted to climb it. She wasted little of her time worrying about all the things that could go wrong, just all the things that she could do. It was probably a damn good thing that Nine was there with her.

The short girl snorted when Nine prodded Eleven. Even in the middle of this survivor escapade, things could still be funny. "It's so damn foggy," Four interjected with a groan. "If I look too hard at the fog, my mind is going to start playing tricks on me. At least we're as hidden as they are." She lowered her voice and said, "If we keep it down, I guess."

Then Eleven went off on some rant, and Four was left to blink slowly at him. "What?" she said, raising an eyebrow inside her gasmask. "How about you just make with the stabbing if anything pops out of this fog, and I'll handle any arachnids that come our way." Personally, she'd much rather have a stake than a pair of nunchucks. She couldn't help but feel like some white-belt karate kid holding her own weapon.

At the base of the windmill, there was a door. Four touched her hand to the surface, pressed against it. "I wonder if we could climb to the top and get a better look? Does fog, like, sink or something?" She wasn't about to burst in there without the go-ahead from the group... though a part of her was already playing out some bust-through-the-door-hail-of-gunfire entrance.

Would nunchucks look as cool in that scenario?

(( γ VII is Entering! ))

Gamma Seven, mostly just referred to as 'Seven' thus far, was the first one out of his base on this little mission he'd concocted. They were out to find their enemy and lo and behold...they were super easy to find. If it wasn't for the very faint blurrs in the fog, it was the voices. He didn't feel that they were making even a vague attempt at being stealthily quiet...and so he wasn't going to even bother trying, either.

Trying to keep his distance though it was hard to do in the fog, he made a nice little announcement to the other voices in the area.

"WHOA You guys are noisy!" He didn't sound a single ounce of dangerous; in fact, he seemed almost friendly. You show up with guns blazing, you'll get the same treatment in return. To him, this was the most effective way to see what they were up against.

"Beautiful weather we have here, eh?" The dagger he had been rolling in his hands was, for now, tucked away in his belt.

yII entering town

Following Seven through the foggy lands, yII kept an eye out for the opposing teammates. Well, it wasn't too hard to find them with the other group speaking to one another. Just from here it was hard to guess how they would react to them approaching. Perhaps it would be better to try and sne-

Nevermind. yVII just announced their position. Gripping his gun a little tighter, he grimaced beneath the gas mask and didn't say anything just yet. He just waited to see how the other group would respond first. If they decided to go up in arms...

He looked over at the nunchucks, honestly debating whether he should ask for a trade or not. He had no idea how to use them, but η XI could probably figure it out. They were assigned their weapons, though. Maybe they weren’t allowed to go switching things around.

η XI prodded η IV with the blunt end of his stake. “Girl, how tall you is? And why you got the cool weapon?” Actually, he would probably have preferred that mallet thing. It looked good for… Bashing.

His random questions were interrupted by an unknown voice. His posture changed from one of relaxation to a stiffer yet still sulky looking pose. η XI glared at the newcomers from behind his mask, then decided he’d greet them with a threat. “Keep yo’ eyes to yo’self and get lost unless you wants a fist in yo’ face.” He balled up one of his hands to add to his message.

((G3 entering the scene... at a dead run!))

She came out of nowhere, a chunky blob of grey and black that was mostly obscured by the thick fog. It might have been stealthy, even, had Gamma Three not been screaming at the top of her lungs like a ******** lunatic as she tore out of the Gamma tent in her olive attire. She went barreling into Eta Four, wrapping her arms around the blue-clad woman's waist.

“WHAT DO YOU KNOW. ARE YOU KATE? I'M NOT KATE.”

γ XII is entering

γ XII sighed, having longed for pockets in which to shove her hands. Her bag didn't really work as well. Either way, she again stood at the back of her team. Not because she needed the shields, but because she felt she was safest covering for them.

Although it seemed that γ VII's greeting to the other group had been returned with a threat. Made enough sense. They wanted to preserve themselves. However, she made a fact behind her mask, the threat cementing her own convictions that 'If you're not one of us, you must die' that had already been forming.

They clearly had no problem with it.

"Bark bark bark." she said stiffly, placing her hands on her hips. "And here all we wanted to do was say hello to the neighbors." she then winced, looking at γ III's dramatic entrance, making another, albeit different face, beneath her mask.

"γ III, you are not Kate."

Eta Four whipped around when she heard the voice behind her, nunchucks held high. Ask and ye shall receive apparently. The two newcomers hadn't attacked, that was a good sign. E4 tried to take account of them, but since everyone was in the the same armor, it was hard to tell anyone apart.

Well, except for the different colors. Etas were darkblue, and these new people had olive accents marking them as different. They had barely left their homebase, and they were already in the presence of another squad. Great, that didn't bode well for the total number of competitors on the island, an island that only thirteen would survive. E4 had enough time to read the symbol on their Seven's helmet to know they were Gammas.

And then she was on the ground.

"WHAT THE ********," she shouted loudly. If people didn't know they were there before, they sure did now. Despite the tackle, "Kate" as she would know be known did not seem to be trying to hurt Eta Four. So the deadly, deadly nunchucks were kept at bay. "Get off of me -- you. Kate. Kate. Kate. You know what? You're Kate now, that's what I know."

It took a little doing, but E4 managed to wedge booted feet between herself and Kate to shove her off. "I woke up in a tent, I grabbed a weapon, and now I'm trying to make sure I'm one of the thirteen that doesn't die here -- what about you all?" Through her mask it was hard to tell, but E4 looked annoyed -- and slightly entertained.

She was a woman of action, therefore she could appreciate someone else of the same character.

Though it couldn't be seen, yII's eyes narrowed at the threat the blue person issued. Before he could say anything, yIII came barreling out of nowhere to go after one of them. Shaking his head, he went on and continued.

"Keep tossing out those threats and you might find yourself dead in a ditch pretty soon," he said before glancing back to see yXII approach as well.

One thing was for certain... these other teams were not to be trusted. He didn't think it was wise to start any attacks yet but it'd be something to consider later on.

"And Gamma Three, we get it. You're not Kate, he said before turning towards the blue one she had tackled, "I think we have the same agenda."

“Whoa. WHOA. Hold your horses. Take your horses, collect them all, gather them in one place, and just hold them. We need to establish this,” she jerked a gloves thumb towards XII, “Affirmative, Twelve. Not Kate. Don't call me Kate. Oh you d**k.”

As she rolled backwards... she, well, just rolled backwards. She flopped onto the dirt with an agitated grunt, and only after she had spent enough time convincing herself that she was, in fact, not Kate, did she pick herself up.

“Okay, Jack. Enjoy your p***s. You feel that p***s you've got down there now? Enjoy that.”

Gamma Three did something that could only be described as 'lolzing' behind her mask, “I'm fully intending to not die here as well. Thank you, Two. At least some people understand simple math.”

Simple math being, of course, that Gamma + Three =/= Kate.

η XI tucked η IX in behind him. There were too many people here, and he didn’t like it. Maybe they were being friendly for real, or maybe they were trying to trick them into a sense of false security. Either way, he’d at least keep someone safe.

The person ramming into η IV almost got herself a good stab wound when η XI barely managed to keep himself from staking her out of reflex. “Kate? Do you two know each other?” He would have helped pry her off, but he was too busy being shocked at the sound of a name.
