She couldn't believe it, her hands rested on her hips and her eyes narrowed into a glare focused on Ren. Was that boil sea-sick? A sea-sick non-swimmer? What kind of crew had Blue been assigned? She snapped her fingers and pointed at the railing.

"All of you are going to jump off into the water and get back on board to prove you can survive in the event of an emergency. Now!" At least in the shallow water she could save any floundering fools, once they were further out a trip overboard could be deadly. Plus there were often things IN the water more dangerous then the water itself.

GM EVENT POST: DAY 1

Blue had been enjoying his view of the students from at the back of the boat, happily leaning against the bow. Although he finally had his boat of children and they were set off in the ocean -- he missed Red. He wished she was on the boat with him. Their boat. His Red Lady. It wasn't fair that he was in the middle of the ocean and she wasn't here with him. How was he suppose to seduce her when she wasn't even around! His gloom only seemed to spread the more he watched the deck of his ship.

Apparently, if he couldn't have Red he'd have to take it out on everyone else. He demanded they learn how to catch food, since it seemed he was going to refuse feeding them unless they did. If they wanted food so badly, they'd have to go get it. The demon would smirk happily as he watched them suffer, trying to direly catch fish. Eventually they might figure it out, increasing their skills and gaining 50 food to the ship, but for now, it was enough to take his mind off Red not being here.

Gabrian's hand felt cool against his forehead as Ren's eyes flickered up to rest briefly on the nix's face before they slid sideways back to Mac. He couldn't quite tell what exactly was ruffling the other boil's feathers, so to speak, but it was beginning to grate on his nerves slightly.

He lifted a brow. "You say this is a great way to make friends, yet your tone would suggest otherwise," Ren said lightly, the innuendo quite obvious. For a moment he just sent a meaningful glance over at Mac, tilting his head slightly and then he smiled. "Come on now," he said, with a small laugh. "We're all going to be stuck here with each other for the next few days. What say we all try to get along?"

Reaching around, Ren gently squeezed Gabrian's wrist in thanks, bending down slowly to get the demon's bag to hand back to him.

"All of you are going to jump off into the water and get back on board to prove you can survive in the event of an emergency. Now!"

....say what?

Ren froze in mid-motion, his fingers mere inches away from the bag. She can't be...did she just... Wide eyes turned to look at Sleuth.

"I have to - to - " Ren stammered, turning a now very, very panicked look at Gabrian. "W-w-w-what?!"

He looked first at Sleuth. Then at Gabrian. Then overboard at the water. The water he could not swim in. There was no point in learning to swim when he could just fly out, but at the current moment Ren's panic-induced mind was not really thinking all that clearly. He couldn't jump in, no -

Except if he didn't jump in, he would most likely get in trouble. Get kicked off the field trip. Get detention. Not be able to see LW, Alessa, Gabrian, or Jove for maybe weeks. That thought alone was enough to make Ren inch slowly - verrrryyyy slowllyyyyyy - towards the edge of the ship. He stared over the wooden rail down at the water. It seemed shallow enough...right?

No. Nope. He couldn't do it. Ren reached out, fingers flailing as he tried to latch onto Gabrian. However, in his haste, Ren's feet slid on the smooth wood of the bow, and he stumbled, staggering sideways into Arachne, nearly tripping over Gabrian's bags, and finally, with a surprised (and somewhat strangled) shout, he tumbled over the edge of the rail, down into the water below.

The water was cold. Freezing. And it hit Ren like a ton of bricks, enveloping him completely. He struggled around, frantically kicking his legs and pumping his arms up and down, trying desperately to push himself back up to the surface (which wasn't very far up, but it felt like miles). When his head finally broke the surface, Ren letting out a loud gasp for air, lungs heaving, in one quick, strong movement his wings shot out and he propelled himself forcefully upwards, shooting up out of the water with lightning speed. Once airborne, he dropped back down in a soaked, bedraggled heap on the deck of the ship. He felt completely pathetic and completely like utter crap, shivering and shaking like a half drowned animal. Shaking his wings out, Ren wrapped them around himself, pushing dripping hair away from his face. Turning to look at the rest of the group, he managed a weak smile at them.

"T-this is a g-great start to a field trip," he said, attempting to sound cheerful. The effect was somewhat ruined, however, when he let out a series of sneezes directly following this statement.

((OF COURSE.

Gabe how the hell are you drowning when you can breathe underwater? sdfgsdfgsd. Seeing as how Gabe can't technically 'drown', I er... sort of had to play around with the post, Roxy ;;; tell me if it is not kosher.))

The Sleuth's words caught Gabrian off-guard; what in Jack's name did she mean when she said they had to jump over board? How was that going to help any student whom couldn't quite swim? Besides, wouldn't them jumping overboard sort of be counter productive? "I.... are we allowed to change clothes? Or shift forms before we actually do that? Because I really don't want to walk around in wet clothes for the rest of the d-" it was right around then that Ren pulled away from him, apparently freaked out by the notion of having to go for a bit swim, "Ren, wait! I-" he watched his friend's hand extend towards him and.... fail to grasp him. In his haste, the gryphon slipped and tumbled over board.

The nix didn't think twice over what to do; he dove after his friend almost immediately. Except. Well... two things happened. One was that just as he was diving overboard, Ren had somehow managed to plunge out of the water using his wings; the demon was so surprised to see his friend shooting up towards the deck somewhere to his right that he forgot to look down at the water. This of course meant that when he dove in, he had his head turned on an angle and as such, missed the rock formation to his left.

This of course brought us to thing-number-two-that-happened. He hit his arm rather forcefully against the rocks, and with a strangled yelp, pulled it against his body with his other hand. By the time he managed to break out of the water, he hurt, he was grumpy and he was feeling horribly stupid, "A little help down here? I don't think I can get back up on my own. I hurt my arm," he was also not looking forward to having to walk around in soaked clothes.

Rosc turned to the Sleuth when she spoke to them, ordering them to jump into the water to prove that they could swim. He frowned slightly.
"Really? Into the water?" he asked, making no move to do as she had ordered. He was not about to just jump into the water. He knew he could swim. And what about the students who couldn't? Did she just want them to jump in and drown. It put them in jeopardy and who knew what was in those waters.

"What about you? Can you survive in the event of an emergency?"

His head whipped around as two of his classmates jumped in without so much as a question.
The gryphon came back up, his demon friend, Gabrian, didn't. Help him out, that damnable little voice said. He usually had a muzzle on it, but the more time he spent with Sin, the more freedom that annoying little rat had. She wanted Gabrian in the club. Wanted him to socialize a bit more. Wanted him to make friends, allies.

"s**t," he growled, dropping his bag, tossing his coat over it, kicked his boots off next to the pile, his pin hooking to his pants. The look he gave the Sleuth said he wasn't done, wasn't complying to her request, he was helping out a fellow demon. For his... Whatever.

The incubus was over the rail, and into the water to help his classmate out.
The shock of the cold water was bad enough, but just as he went to kick to the surface, he found he couldn't, something was wrong, there was a tightness at his foot. His vision wasn't affected by the water, he could see he was caught. And these were his least torn pants!!
He couldn't tell if it was a rock or a log or... Hell, it could have been something living for all he knew. Angry bubbles left his mouth as he tried to twist underwater, trying to free himself as his lungs began to ache.

"All of you are going to jump off into the water and get back on board to prove you can survive in the event of an emergency. Now!"

If Tabitha could have gulped- She would have. As it was her eye sockets had gotten huge and her mouth formed into a huge frown that took over half of her face. "Bones don't really have much weight to them ... Maybe that will help me float." She said it to herself as she hoped and prayed, and repeated the same thing over and over again. "I know I can. I know I can." She removed her hand from Efflo's arm and leapt.

Struggling with the movements and her long dress, she was doing surprisingly well. Granted she was barely doggy paddling and looked like a damn fool- but she was doing it! She didn't have time to look at how the other students were doing but if she had Tabitha would have felt very proud of herself indeed. At least she wasn't drowning like she'd originally feared. It had honestly been one of her biggest worries about the trip in general. Getting left behind at the bottom of the sea did not sound like a fun thing at all. But now she knew- That wouldn't be a problem. Ever.

Swim? A ghost, swim? Really?

She felt more pairs of eyes on her, so she figured... if it would get her away from those stares, then it would be beneficial.

So, Alwine hopped off the dock and into the water. She would have done fine, being a ghost and all, except for the fact that she looked up.

What, exactly, is a dock? Suspended planks over water? So it was a bridge. From below, it looked exactly like a bridge.

Alwine hated bridges. Hated, hated. In her attempt to get out of the water, she floundered a bit and clung to one of the poles. It took her almost a full minute to remember that she was a ghost, and she only after that did she ungracefully float up and land on the dock.

The sleuth was pleased to see Ren do so well despite his terror, sometimes fear could be a powerful motivational tool...and sometimes a serious liability. She walked over with a towel for him and wrapped it around his shoulders. "Hey, easy there you did good..." She was a little worried about the boil going into shock though so she fished out a sugar cube.

"Here..." She hoped the sugar would keep him entertained long enough for her to deal with the others.

Speaking of the others, she sent down a rope and went to help haul Gabriel back on board and then gave the rest smiles as they managed to drag themselves up like wet rats. Good good...she was nodding and smiling, this group might just survive thanks to her-wait. She did a quick mental count and then frowned and looked over the edge. Oh jack! Was a student ACTUALLY drowning?!

She wasn't cruel, really, she had just wanted to make sure they were ready for anything. She dove overboard narrowly avoiding the rock that had banged Gabrian up and swam down. She yanked Rosc's leg free as soon as she saw what the issue was. As Rosc is freed, he notices and probably manages to grab something shiny! At least he'll get a silver pumpkin seed for his near drowning.

Rosc was dragged from the water, dripping, gasping, and furious. His left pants leg was torn to the knee and he'd lost a sock. Fist clenched around what he had grabbed under the water, rounding on the Trick or Treat guide who'd commanded them into the water in the first place.

"That was the most absurd use of adult power I have ever seen! You say jump and everyone here just goes right along and asks how high?! Didn't you think for one moment that there might be other ways someone could get hurt besides drowning in the water?" He paused in his rant to jab a finger in Gabrian's direction. "Like rocks in shallow water! And you expected students who don't know how to swim to just be perfectly fine? Who dropped YOU on your head when you were little?!"

Oh, he was fuming, and too mad to care about getting in trouble. He didn't even care that her philosophy had somewhat been right, as the gryphon had come back up in one piece.
This was what trying to help people got you. Near drowning and a ruined pair of pants.

(( Ahh poop, well, least I didn't have to leave her fate up to the dice XD))

She gave a little smile of sympathy at Ren, and nodded;
'It's ceratinly an interesting looking boat, do you think there are rooms of some sort? I didn't explore much..' she nodded at Gabrian, listening to him to speak about the last trip.

'No I was at home, family emergency.' her words trailed off; well at least there was one thing she didn't have to worry about, she could in fact swim, and pretty well.

But the next words wiped the positive look off her face and she frowned. Being able to swim in an emergency situation was one thing, throwing herself in the water fully clothed for no good reason was another. She looked with genuine concern at Ren who was by now panicking badly, and before she could utter a word of comfort he had bumped into her. She was still off balance, hadn't yet gotten used to standing on a shifting vehicle and so she pretty much fell in, going under at first in her surprise.

She broke the surface after a moment, coughing and spluttering, and managed to haul herself back onto the boat, sitting on the deck in a soggy, shivering heap.

'J-jack.' she murmured, slicking her soaked hair back and squeezing water from it.

Blue seemed rather disappointed when he seen that all of the students that had been provoked into jumping off the boat had successfully made it back. Why couldn't someone just drown instead and cheer him up? It would be so nice if someone thought of him for once. Without Red here to walk into the room and brighten his day, the demon only seemed to get more and more blue. It seems he could use something to cheer him up.

Mac looked down at Gabrian's hand, obviously displeased with the gesture. They hadn't made a deal, but he was rather hesitant to touch the actual hand of a Demon, just in case. Who knew what would happen, after all! The moment of staring soon ended, and instead of shaking hands, he clasped his hand on Gabrian's forearm. It worked for him; hopefully Gabrian would understand his hesitations. You know, since he was a demon and all.

Ren's rather on-the-mark observation was overlooked, as the Sleuth was asking them to show off how they could swim? Well, he could do that. He took his coat, belt and hat off before diving right over the edge, swimming about for a moment before unsteadily climbing his way back on. Jumping off boats: Easy. Swimming? Piece of Cake. Swimming in freezing water? Not so comfortable. Climbing back on the boat? Ugh. OUt of practice!

He looked thoughtfully at Rosc. Huh, that thought never occured to him; interesting. So he could have really hurt himself, like that demon boil over there. Trying his best not to show too much joy at a demon being hurt, even the demon he had mostly made a truce with, and he looked around at his rather sad-looking shipmates. It was cold, uncomfortable, and damn they all looked worse for wear. Did he look that bad, too? Black eyes lifted to sopping wet bangs, picking at them lightly. Maybe he did.

The Reaper was about to scoop up his dry things again, when he notced the shivering, cold-stuttering Demon. Well, good for her. She deserved a little difficulty in her life; he assumed her to be every bit the spoiled lady Gabrian made her out to be with the whole chivalry talk. Then again...they were on the ship together. Right? A heavy sigh emitted from him, and the sound of his heavy boots on the deck echoed closer towards the Demoness.

"Here." He murmured to Arachne, looping the heavy fabric of his coat to drape around her shoulders. There, hopefully that would at least get Ren and Gabrian off his back for a while; he was being nice to the lady, and being nice in general to a demon. That should shut them up for a little bit!

He sadly didn't get the chance to change right away, as they had to hunt for their food; it was a terrible way to fish, really. Wet and cold and doing something as stationary as fishing just...just...ugh. Could this trip get any worse?! Apparently, it could. As the Demon-Professor seemed to want them to do something. A good sea shanty always cheered up the crews in lore, but there would be no singing from Mac. None! Maybe.

His excuse, for now, would be that he didn't know what to sing.

But he was thinking about it.

Really.

[[ kuromizuki ]]

Ren had, in fact, not come back in one piece, nor was he as fine as he was attempting to make himself out to be. The only reason he had not drowned was the fact that he had a nice pair of wings to propel him up and out of the water; otherwise he most likely would have had quite a bit of a problem. However, the fact that he was out of the water was doing nothing to alleviate the fact that A.) He was now completely soaked; B.) He still couldn't swim, and C.) He was, in fact, trying very, very hard to not show just how completely panicked and freaked out he was. Especially seeing as how he was feeling horrible that Gabrian had both leapt after him, missed him, and then hurt his arm in his attempt to help him out. Ren took the sugar cube from Sleuth, but gave her a dark look, shoving it into his pocket and staggered over to Gabrian first.

"I-I'm sorry..." he mumbled, his face flaming as he reached out, looking at the nix's arm. There was a long scrape down the side, and it was starting to bleed. Reaching up, Ren untied the bandanna from around his neck. It was damp, but it would do, at least for now. He wrapped it around Gabrian's forearm, securing it as tightly as he could with his shaking fingers. He hadn't seen that Arachne had also fallen in, but he saw her head break the surface, the skeleton ghoul beside her dog paddling around. The headless ghoul seemed to be having a bit of difficulty at first, the poor thing, but after a bit of struggling she floated back up and onto the dock below them.

The second boil [ Rosc ], on the other hand, was a little less easygoing about the whole thing. He seemed infuriated, not that Ren could blame him. Internally he was echoing the boil's sentiments, but since he was still trying to reign in his panic, he did not say them out loud. Besides, the boil seemed to be doing a very good job of saying what he thought already.

Ren's nerves were slowly beginning to go back to normal. He had managed to keep from hyperventilating, which was a plus, but his heart kept clattering against his chest. He pressed his hands against his arms, in a vague attempt at getting himself warm again and closed his eyes. A song about Professor Red? Well he didn't particuarly know her very well, except for the fact that she had given him detention, but Ren shrugged, his mind working to find an appropriate one.The faintest hint of a song began to form on his lips, barely audible at first, then steadily growing louder, though it remained quiet in volume.

"We can do most anything, I am winter, you are spring
All we want is everything
The two of us are one of a kind
We are separate and defined
Yet our lives are intertwined

Hush don't cry, my lullaby, I'll sing on high
My lullaby for a restless girl
In a restless world, my restless girl
In a restless world

We have burdens though we are free
And while we're part of society, just corporate slavery
And together we can escape
Because they're bound in their red tape
Hold my hand before it's too late."

Ren's entire FEAR was based around his voice, the way he manipulated sounds and syllables, so it was built for music, singing in particular. It made him feel better, at least a little bit, though he supposed the lyrics didn't quite fit with what Blue had asked. He had learned the lullaby from his grandmother, a long time ago, and the lyrics had stuck with him all these years. Ren leaned against Gabrian again, shivering.

"W-what say we all g-go change?" he said, through chattering teeth. "B-before all get h-hypothermia."
