 Nimblecharming | witty | sociopathIn the truest sense of the word, Nimble is... detached. Although she is quick-witted and always game for an interesting conversation, at times a strangeness surfaces. She seems unable to empathize with another's fear or disappointment; her joy and laughter arise only at the most inappropriate times. It is as if someone has lifted the spectrum of emotion from Nimble and replaced it only poorly, with the spaces shifted from their proper positions. At times the glimmer of a more personable, friendly doe seems to make itself known--but then again, in our world we know: a true sociopath's hallmark is her convincingly-faked normality.

Fenabsurd | strong | irreverentRarely seen outside the company of Thousand Blows, it is likely that stocky, jaunty Fen was drawn to the doe because of their shared need to indulge in incessant wise-cracks. Where Thousand, however, has a graveyard sense of humor that drips with sarcasm, Fen is a strange jokester with a flair for the absurd and wordplay. Her mien is always perky, her voice always chipper—even when she is struggling her hardest. Like any Tidewalker, Fen possesses a capacity—even a love--for putting her head down and striding into the winds of suffering. It’s just that unlike most Tidewalkers, she’ll laugh as she goes.

Changing Facesaka Face pompous | dramatic | blusteryChanging Faces, as he dearly loves to tell people, did not invent drama. He only invented the finest drama. His elaborate productions (all starring himself naturally) utilized the finest desert talents with the sharpest memories and the most lovely voices: intricate choral arrangements re-enacting love stories and ballads. Having come to the Swamp, Face has now learned of the Black Dog saga and intends to turn his talents towards dramatizing it by the next big festival, and is actively recruiting singers, dancers, and performers. He himself, naturally and rather absurdly, will fill the role of the protagonist.
Off the stage, Face is paternal and insufferably inflated. He means well, though, and is harmless enough beyond his own ego.

Undertowhard | manipulative | deliberateSome might mistake Undertow's careful, deliberate demeanor as a sign of stupidity or slowness. Not so, and quite the opposite: Undertow analyzes every situation, assesses every route, and only then speaks or takes action. Eccentric and by turns gregarious and a dedicated loner, Undertow was nonetheless taken in as a Tidewalker, where she has proven to be not only worthy of the name but also an intensely hard worker. Whether this work ethic is born of respect for her peers, a desire to impress her betters, or some other more sinister motive remains to be seen.

Shoutangry | uncontrollable | brokenNo one is entirely sure what it is that is wrong with Shout. Between her episodes she is peaceful, obedient—even jovial. But these calm times are few and far between, and can be removed by even the tiniest trigger, sending Shout into a screaming, sobbing, shaking rage. She is violent, even vicious, but she is never cruel—cruelty implies a level of focus and thought that cannot be ascribed to her fury. Several times she has been threatened with expulsion from the Tidewalkers, and truth told, some question why this has not yet come to pass. Surely she is more destructive than she is helpful. But somewhere under there it is obvious that Shout is ashamed of her anger, and wishes it would shake loose its hold over her.

Murmurpaternal | responsible | patientTruly his sister’s keeper, Murmur seems older than his young years in the same way that Shout seems younger. He is the perfect foil to her anger: calm, soothing. He can’t boast intelligence or even wit: frankly, he can seem unbearably boring even if his company is less than scintillating. But his redeeming quality is his selflessness. Quick to sacrifice for the greater good, Murmur is always ready to help or intervene, even at a cost to his own safety.

She drowns herself in what pleasures she can seek, moving destructively from one hedonistic pursuit to another, dancing, singing, imbibing, and loving—and brooding, mourning, and thinking--until the day that the dark things rise out of the shadows and drag her beneath, sucking air from her lungs, whispering insults in her ear, and delivering her mercifully from the hardships of this awful place. We are one with the mire in the end, and the mire feels no pain.

She'd tell you it was all luck--the forecast storm, the healed sickness. But she isn't honest. She is a cheat, who knows how to lever the desires of those around her to have them hear what they want; to remember the successes and forget the failures. When she hears tell of real prophets in the Swamp she cannot help but seek them out--she longs, desperately, to live up to her undeserved name.

Her voice is a constant slur, made fuzzy by her unceasing intake of hallucinogens and, when she can find it, fermented fruit. Her mouth is incredibly foul, her temper frightening--but Calamity, in a time of calamity, is truly a person you can call upon. With a gift for nursing the wounded and ill and a love of foals, she has a special compassion, even if her soft touch is tempered with curses and ramblings.

Stolen Skinaka Skin playful | wistful | free-spirited
Her thoughts are her secrets: Stolen Skin is a dark tidal pool, her smile frequently paired with a sadness in her eyes. She spends nearly all of her time in the water--she'd showed up nearly a filly for the trial and done it without hesitation, stronger than she looks, because she could not imagine living anywhere but the ocean--and is known among the Tidewalkers for her playful nature and flirtatious side. She is, however, at times seen gazing over the water in a way that might almost be called sad, if it were that easy to pin an emotion on anything Skin does.

Bright Tideaka Bright optimistic | friendly | protective
Although she's much-loved by most of her fellow Tidewalkers, Bright Tide's incessant tendency to look on the bright side can be... irritating. Her sunny disposition seems unmoved by any grumpy reproach however, and she can maintain a happy chirp even in the presence of Bitterleaf's direst moods. She has the faintest habit of sarcasm, but it's usually buried beneath her happy exterior. Frequently appointed a tour guide to visitors to the ever-more-crowded beach, Bright Tide performs with aplomb, albeit with a habit of falling in love.

Pikequiet | thoughtful | fierce
Pike, like his namesake, lurks in darkness. He is a frequent scout for the Tidewalkers, and he is not above eavesdropping on the activities of neighboring tribes and clusters of Kin, an unseen presence. He considers his movements carefully, and due to his frequent silence some assume his agility is purely physical: this is not so. Pike is sharp, insightful, and a bit dangerous. It is perhaps for this last--not to mention his good looks--that he is a frequent object of affection that he seems to have no care for.

Some Acha would say Coughing Fish is a disgrace; others, more open-minded, embrace her boyish athleticism as a type of beauty all its own. Indeed, she has a circle of admirers, and seems to be quite aware of it: cocky and competitive, this doe loves attention, and isn't afraid to admit that she's vain. She'd just add that she's vain for a reason.

Comfortintrospective | intimidating | compassionate
A force to be reckoned with, Comfort's quiet self-possession and endless patience bolster her natural charisma to make her quite intimidating indeed. The bark is backed up with bite: she is a ferocious fighter and skilled hunter, and not above violence if it is necessary. She would prefer it not be necessary though, and can offer a threat in a gentle tone that's almost like a mother's love--and that is usually sufficient. She has a far-reaching view of justice and compassion, though, and will never harm an innocent. Her definition of innocent, though, can be a source of concern.
