Iseult Afire Beautiful Propaganda Iseult Afire Oh, come now. They have some lovely tshirts, and around halloween you can find all manner of interesting pieces for every day wear. If it weren't for hot topic, where would I get my Invader Zim paraphernalia? Or Edward Scissorhands? The one in my area, at least, has rather bad quality. The stitching sometimes comes out when you wash the clothes and they rip easy. The ones I've purchased have always been of excellent quality. As a matter of fact, they were rated the best destination in Richmond for quality and entertaining tshirts for all ages. Richmond must not have much in variety.

With the exception of "Clockwork Coutre", places like Retrospective, Abraham's Lady, Gentlemen's Emporium and In the Starlight are items I have to deliberatly save up for and carefully budget. It would be nice to have a outlet that takes it one step lower in terms of price points, even if it is at the expense of originality.
That said, for my own personal taste, this isn't why I prefer to dress steampunk. This is closer to why I decided goth wasn't a style I liked in High School. And does anyone have insight as to why that Twighlight necklace is there?

Hot topic always sells stuff that tries a little too hard to be dark and edgy. Of course, worn by the right person, some very amazing outfits can be made with their clothes. Still, nowhere near my personal tastes.

Of course they sell stuff that's trying a little too hard to be dark and edgy. Their major customer base is trying a little too hard to be dark and edgy.

Captaintimm I was always told that Steampunk is what we make it. Not as a label like you are trying to make it sound, Hottopic added those because many people requested apparel like that. It's no big deal wether it's not "Steampunk" to you. It could be to other people and when people see that you think it's funny to make fun of a company who has multiple styles in their stores to satisfy a large amount of people. And besides i've seen alot of "Steampunks" wear stuff like that all the time and they look VERY dashing. So... don't knock it. Agreed

Can you hear the broadcast? The last thing we need is little scene kids running around with goggles on, going, "LOL LOOKIT ME GUISE I R STEAMPUNKZ!"
I don't even consider myself part of the subculture and I find the thought terrifying. gonk
This is a revolution.

Doesn't look very steampunk to me... looks more... 1930-40ties inspired.

Steampunk has never had too much punk in it, for me, and I think that's another reason that I feel their offerings are more to the dieselpunk-psychobilly crowd.
