If there's a remake of FF7, but they change it to be SERIOUS like AC, will you be pleased?
  Of course.
  I'm not sure.
  NO.

Do I want a remake that would change the characters? No. Do I want a remake that is just a remake of the original, great game? I have nothing against it. I would be happy to see the original game, with the characters original personalities just with crisp, pretty graphics.

wish they made a remake of final fantasy 8 but 7 is good but the movie i was expecting it to be more like the game and not about sephiroth return in like a sport drink. seriously it was kinda lame.

As long as they keep the game play relatively the same I dont mind there are some things i would like them to kink out of the game play but there silly like when you master a materia you can keep the abillity even if you dont have the materia on or not. it would make the sell price of a mastered materia mean much more.

Wow, first post in ages. XD Spoony, I loved your response, and honestly, I can't help but really start thinking about it to. Not because I don't want to see a remake, hell, I'd LOVE to see all the characters done up all pretty in HD on my PS3. However, with all these changes that have come from the compilation, would the game really be the 'same?'

I think what I'm trying to say is this: I'm afraid that if a remake comes out, they will change it so much that I will no longer recognize the characters or the game itself, and that my love for the game may be lost because of this. I am afraid that it would no longer feel fun, and that all the fond memories I have for this game would be tainted by this newer, shinier version. My adoration for the game could very well be crushed, as silly as that sounds.

Case in point: I used to admire Vincent Valentine as my favorite character from every Final Fantasy game, ever. When I heard about Dirge of Cerberus, I was beside myself with excitement. Now, having played the game? I still love Vincent's character, don't get me wrong, but not the way I used to. There's some other stuff that contributed to his fall down my list of fav's, but the game was one of them.

If Square-Enix did a remake, I think they'd have as much, if not MORE expectations piled on them than the folks that are supposedly working on that Evangelion movie. Yes, it could be a great game after a remake, but if just one little thing isn't done right, it could ruin it for all of the hardcore fans of this particular entry in the series, and SE could end up paying dearly for that. There's just so much that could go wrong, I'm not even sure they'd want to really try it, although I could very easily be wrong.

Asylum Renegade
I'm not really up for a remake of the game. I enjoy it very much so as is and you know they will alter plot if they remake it. I'm tired of remakes. Anybody think of FFTactics Advance O.o Ugh

Tactics Advance was a sequal, not a remake. But the remake for the original Tactics was remade into the new "Lion War" game, which features a few new classes, new quests, and a spiffy new 'Ye Olde English' talk, as well as videos. That, in my opinion, is how the remake of FFVII should be. New graphics, voices, maybe some mini-games and side quests, as well as fixing up the ending that was so carelessly done the first time.

The only appearance of the characters from other spin-offs like Crisis Core and Advent Children, should be references in conversation at best.

Although my opinion means nothing at all to the people who might be remaking the game, I really would hope that they keep everything almost the same, just change the graphics and MAYBE add some stuff, but not take anything away. Like new weapons, armor, materia, and so on.

the original version has its own unique charm. the style and look of the game as a whole really cant be "remade". and im pretty damn sure that they arent making one anyhow. sadly i admit that if they DID remake the original, that i would buy it in a heart beat...

Okay, this has been in debates for years. And I've gone on about my opinion many times, so I'll keep this short and sweet. Leave the game as it is, up the graphics, add (credible; I don't wanna hear AC voices in there anywhere) voice acting, fix typos and game glitches, etc. I don't even mind little changes, for example a few more minigames in the Gold Saucer, or a few extra easter eggs (achievements perhaps?). But the minute they touch any of the characters dialogue or the story itself, I will descend like the Apocalypse onto the heads of everyone at Squeenix. =.=

I don't think Square Enix will actually be remaking it. I've heard that unless everyone stops buying their games and they are about to go under THEN they would remake it. Although, I hope they do. I would be there to buy it in a heart beat. It actually might be a chance that I could like Cloud. I never did care much for him and once I saw AC, I was throwing things at the screen shouting: "SHE'S DEAD! GET THE **** OVER IT! IT WASN'T YOU'RE FAULT!"....sorry but I HATE mopey characters and they made him emo in that movie. Anyway it also would take a long time to make a new one. On the ps1 it took about 4 years I think. Imagine actually putting high rez graphics and voices to that? That would take a very long time my friends and I don't think SE could afford to spend that much time on one game that if done even the slightest bit wrong could enrage the masses of Final Fantasy 7 fandom.

Not really, in the ending FMV he says to tifa, lets go find her, in the promised land. This shows that he's gained some optimism.

Sure, but, with all the crap that happened to him, you can't just expect him to be happy go-lucky all the time.
