Athena_68 AND I'm not a moron like some of you guys are saying flute and piccolo are morons and I'm not at all. Your poor grammar and ridiculous signature do a lot to convince me of the opposite. Just an observation, feel free to ignore it smile

Marching Band no Jutsu See, there's a sane person. She disagrees and she does it in a respectful manner. On Wings of Song, I think I love you. @toco: Clarinet is pretty cool. I'd like to play it, but my mom would never let me. (She hates reed instruments, except oboe. wtf, I know.) It does have epic range, and I've heard that clarinet is the only instrument that can be played so quietly a human can't hear it. I think I'll stick to brass for now though. Hahaha the irony of that is that "On Wings Of Song" is a composition by Felix Mendelssohn =] (So you love that song to, eh? Haha jk)
And Its a popular song for violin and piano(from what I've seen anyway).
And btw, thats my new username. The old one was JetGirl_Lithium

Ashokan Farewell Musicgrl330 umm. wow. What a sexist question! Everyone here is considering piccolo and flute players to be empty headed flower pots who are only there to play or look good. I, personally, find this really offensive! I too am highly offended by the OP's question. Every year, the flute/picc section in my high school band was one of the top sections (along with mellophones). All three of us made the county honor band 2 years in a row. All of us were AP students. And I got my 2-year college degree a month before I got my high school diploma even with going to high school full-time and participating in the music program. So you know what, Mr. OP, piccolo players are NOT just there to be hot. Maybe your school just has a crappy music program. Or maybe you're just seeing what you want to see. Or maybe you even know you're wrong but want to be a p***k anyways. I don't really care why you posted the question. I don't even really care if you think that way. I do think it was really rude to make a thread about it. You have to realize that it reflects very poorly on you. It makes you look immature, unmannered, and not terribly bright. Maybe a better thread would have been to ask everyone which section in their band is the screw-up section - who can't play, who doesn't want to be there, who breaks the rules most, etc. You could even have described all of this under your response. Then you could have gotten a better sampling than your 4 person experience without looking like an a**. This is ridiculous. Something tells me that you're one of those people who has a hissy fit or drama explosion over every little thing -.-;;
It was merely an innocent question. So there's no need to bore us with your idle banter. Obviously, someone needs to start excepting the fact that different people have different opinons.
Am I the only flute/picc player that doesn't care about these stereotypes and actually LIKES to avoid drama? Please tell me that I'm not alone =/
(Or maybe I don't care because all of my best friends are trumpet, trombone, and drummer guys xD)

Even with my horrid grammar I have gotten top scores in all my tests and I am one of, if not the, smartest student in my school.
