My parent's like that I am in it, My dad was a Marine, so it makes him happy that I'm doing something heading into the military way, since I'm going to join the Marines as soon as i'm 18. My mom is happy about it too.

Well, I'm in college right now so that's probably ultimate proof that JROTC isn't a one way path to the military. But for those who do plan to join it does them a lot of good!
Now ROTC, the College ROTC, that IS a contracted military ordeal, but the bright side is you join as an officer, usually comes with a free ride scholarship where the military pays for all your expenses, and being an officer means you get great pay! (seriously, very VERY good pay!) and you skip most of the grunt work that's associated with the lower ranks.
You seldom see an officer on the battlefield, but everyone has to take a tour of duty eventually. Even so, the officer's tour of duty is usually in the rear, taking a command position. So ROTC in college isn't really a bad thing...
the only reason i can see a parents being against that is because they don't want their kids to make more money than their selves! lol!

My mother made me do it at first. xD Near the end of my 8th grade year, they had this one night where all the departments and groups in the high school set up tables and stuff so people could see what they were about, and my mom and I went and looked at the JROTC table, and she was like "so do you want to do it?" and I said "I dunno. I'll think about it." And then two weeks later, she goes "oh, btw, I signed you up for JROTC". I was so annoyed at first, but then I ended up enjoying myself. For the most part.

It's your choice dude. This isn't the land of the free for nothing! besides, you know it's good for you, and isn't high-school the time to be defiant anyway? i'd do JROTC even IF my parents didn't want me to! It's time to show them you can start making decisions for yourself! Show some Motivation by making the effort! Show some Dedication by sticking with it regardless of the complaints and adversity you'll face! And show them some Pride by being proud of what you're a part of and what you and your fellow cadets can do and achieve!

XP its too late for that now, as im in junior year now. and plus, your parents are there with you when you fill out the class forms and turn them in. XP i hate it.

My mom and dad both like that I'm in Air Force JROTC. My dad was a US Army Ranger, 3/75, if I'm not mistaken. I'm going SF and then Air Force pararescue after I graduate.

My mom doesn't likes it. She thinks it's a waste of time because I always stay after school to practice Honor Guard/Colorguard/UTD. My dad thinks it's a joke.
