LordNeuf kingpinsqeezels Anti-Muslim sentiment is what you get when you blame a religion for one of the most nationally devastating acts ever committed on American soil. Ok ok ok... lets get one thing straight. All religions have a lunatic fringe. Muslims have Osama bin Ladin, Christians have Fred Phelps, we have those knuckle heads in Beit Shemesh. Even neo-pagans have a lunatic fringe. The lunatic fringe does not represent the whole of the religion, only a segment. This is to say that if you belong to a certain religion, it does not mean you belong to the lunatic fringe. hear hear!

On a random note, I went to a Methodist school. (The most annoying thing possible to a young, religious Jew). It'sa non-liturgical branch of Anglicism set up by John Wesley and his brother, Christopher, in the 18th century. It features a lot of hymns by the founders (Christopher liked writing them), and sermons in English. It's okay. In Wales, (which, in case you haven't figured it out, is where I currently live), it's the major denomination of Christianity

I have friends from there and it's sooo true! I went two weeks ago to a friend's marrige and everyone there were from Beit Shemesh and Efrat. So I find myself in the middle of the dancing square, srounded by a sea of american weird jews, each of them dances his own weird style, and I'm like: "man, what am I doing here? who are these people? and where is the jeezer's circle?"

Even when there's no negative intention in these sort of things, they're just dripping with underlying hatred. I am the only even remotely jewish person, staff included, at my schoool, and my entire reputation is based on it. I might as well walk around wth OY stamped on my forehead in big red letters. There's a friendly ongoing joke among my friends, but lately it's stretched to the entire school and it's getting out of control. It's only a matter of time before my school has "hit a jew" day as well.

I had to put up with 4 years of Big Nose jokes, people making Nazi symbols as I walk by, and being referred to as "Jew" rather than my name. And it was started by someone in my class as a friendly joke.
Rise above them. Just don't sink down to their level.

I really think this got blown out of proportion. Yes, it was a bad thing, but it wasn't like half the school was chasing down Jews. It was just a few kids. *sigh* Granted, all the rest of us were like, "WTF, West has always been the super friendly Parkway school," but I think it was a bigger deal out of the district than inside it. But what do I know, I'm just a North kid.

LordNeuf duohrmny Wow. That makes me really proud of my country it really does (in a purely sarcastic way of course). Let's just hope that the intelligence in America rises one day soon because otherwise anyone that doesn't fit the majority's ideals will be in trouble. Naah, I think it's just kids are immature and have a mob mentality. Really at this point, I blame the school and blame the parents. Hitting anyone is bad, remember they went after tall people first. This was the mob going "ok, we did those different people, who's next on the list?" Imagine the holy hell storm if they decided that it was "hit a black person" day. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have a press conference and demand criminal charges. isnt that how the holocaust worked?....one group was taken and nobody cared or said anything, and then another, and then another, and when the last group was taken they relised there was no one left to stand up for them, just like they failed to do for the others.......{wow....soooo past this...i need to get on more often...}

When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I was not a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.
We had to memorize that in 4th grade...
