Ame had a huge grin permanently plastered on her face. She tried to remember what sort of food sources were near their meadow.
Ah, yes. Strawberries. They grew not to far from where they were located. Sigal strawberries.
Ame's mouth watered at the thought. She hadn't had strawberries since the last time she was with her mate. Still smiling, she turned to Sigal.
"How about strawberries?"

"Yeah, I love strawberries! Hey, how 'bout we race there? Looser has to feed strawberries to the winner!"
Sigal said it on impulse, but she liked her idea very, very much. It didn't matter whether she lost or won the race: she would end up the winner of the bet either way. And those were the best kinds of bets.

Although her body ached and felt weak as she stood, Ame accepted Sigal's challenge.
"You're on!" The thought of feeding or being fed strawberries by her mate filled her with such joy that she couldn't help but take off towards the strawberry bush. But being as paranoid as she had become, Ame didn't run at full speed. Instead she ran in a sort of fast trot to make sure she could still see, hear, or smell Sigal.

Sigal had been giving it her all, until she realized that Ame's footsteps were fading rapidly. Panicking, she turned around, to see what had happened to her mate.
It didn't look like anything had happened, though. So why was Ame so slow?
Oh, that was right. She'd been through a lot. She was probably still drained from all of that.
Now Sigal felt bad for not having thought of that before. She trotted back to Ame, deciding she would just jog the rest of the way there.
"Sorry about getting so far ahead," Sigal said, blushing. "I...I didn't even think that...well, that you'd be a lot slower, after...everything," she muttered and stammered.
Thinking of Ame above all else used to be instinctive to her. It scared her how that seemed to no longer be true.

As Ame noticed that Sigal was growing farther and farther away from her, a jolt of fear shot through her. She trembled violently at the thought of losing her mate again.
The fear subsided and the trembling stopped as Sigal turned around and closed the distance between them.
"It's alright, love." Ame said with a smile. "Things will be back to normal soon. Don't worry. I'll be back to my old self in no time." Ame put on a big smile to try and convince Sigal not to worry.
She wanted to believe what she said was true. She wanted to believe everything would return to normal quickly but her paranoia was keeping her on the brink of insanity.

Sigal licked Ame's cheek. "I hope you are. I don't like seeing you like this...so hurt and scared. But I'll protect you! I'll definitely protect you, and nothing will be able to separate us ever again!" Sigal declared, with unaccustomed seriousness. But this was her mate she was talking about here. She couldn't not take something like this seriously.
"I'm just glad you're back. Have I told you that yet?" Sigal giggled. It seemed like every other word she said was that she was happy Ame was back. But it was so true. She just couldn't say it enough!

Sigal seemed to be so confident that they would always be together from now on. Slowly, things were beginning to feel more like reality than just a good dream. She was actually back with Sigal. Back with her mate, her tribe, where she belonged.
She didn't have to be scared about Sigal getting out of her sights because she knew where she was. She knew her home. She knew Sigal knew.
Ame licked Sigal's cheek in return and smiled into her fur as she nuzzled her mates neck.
"I don't believe you have." Ame said with another smile, still nuzzling Sigal's neck. "But I'm glad you are because I'm glad to be back with you."
Ame pulled away and looked her mate in the eyes. "And now that I have distracted you, I will beat you to the strawberries." And with that she was off, running again with a bit more effort than before. Though of course she made sure to listen for Sigal's reaction.

Sigal smiled at what Ame said. She was happy that Ame was happy.
"Wha--hey, that's cheating!" Sigal giggled, chasing after Ame. This time, she wouldn't let Ame out of her sight any more. She'd make sure that they never got separated from each other again. Even if they got lost, or something, that'd be okay, because then they would still be together!
While Ame had a head start, Sigal caught up with her fairly quickly. More so than usual. Because of everything that had happened to Ame? Her mate had been through so much in the time they had been apart--she was so strong, to be doing so well, when she'd been on her own for all that time. But now Sigal was going to be there for Ame, and support her, and when needed, be strong for her. No matter what, she was definitely never letting Ame go again!
((I am sorry that it sucks. gonk ))

Ame couldn't help a small laugh and smile at Sigal's reaction and as her mate caught her. She could see the strawberry bush in bloom up ahead and slowed down so she wouldn't injure her sprained ankle any further.
Her whole body ached but it had turned into more of a numb throbbing now. All she could really concentrate on was food and her beautiful mate. It was so wonderful to be around her loved one again. And now she was not only with her beloved but she was also about to eat some strawberries! How could life get any better?

Sigal slowed down as Ame did, remembering her sprained ankle.
"Are you alright? Is it your ankle? Do you want me to look at it again?" The running couldn't be good for it, actually. Oh. Sigal was just making her mate worse. She wanted Ame to get better! It was okay if they couldn't race for the strawberries: it was way more important that Ame's ankle healed quickly and well!

"It's fine. I'm fine. It's just throbbing a little bit." Ame replied as she limped the rest of the way to the strawberry bush.
"I should probably just stay off of it for awhile." Ame nuzzled Sigal's fur. She was so thankful to have such a caring and thoughtful mate. So thankful to have a mate who would wait so long for her and still love her when she got back. So thankful to have Sigal's love.
"So, about these strawberries." Ame licked Sigal's cheeck and smiled.

"Throbbing doesn't sound good at all." Sigal wished she'd picked up some more from Daddy's tribe: she'd never spent much time around anyone, since they were all nocturnal, and she stayed up during the day, but it'd be nice if she'd picked up something from the shamans, and could fix Ame's leg up.
"Yeah, staying off it is a good idea. We can spend the day here with the pretty strawberry bushes!"
Sigal plucked a strawberry, and fed it to Ame: "You must be the winner, since I lost my heart to you."
((Haha, I should not be allowed to write romantic dialogue, eveeeeer.
((I may make goddess turn green, but you make them melt with the sheer force of their envy!))

"Spending the day by the strawberry bushes being fed by the most beautiful vixen ever? Sounds like a great plan to me." Ame sat and took some of the pressure off of her ankle. Hopefully her ankle would heal quickly and she could accompany Sigal back to the comfort of their tribe. But then again, she wasn't sure if she was ready to see the tribe yet. One baby step at a time.
As she took the strawberry from Sigal, Ame managed to slip a little kiss to her mate. "If that's how we're judging this, then we're both winners."
Ame leaned into the bush, trying to stay off her paw, picking the biggest strawberry in reach, and fed it to Sigal.
((But your romantic dialogue is wounderful, in all its cheesy glory!))

"I'm not sure how I managed to win you over but I thank Adora everyday for your love." Ame gave Sigal her warmest and sincerest smile.
