“And I’m still waiting to buy my own private jet,” He replied, feeling it only right that he admit some of his childhood fantasies seeing as she felt so open with him. One good turn deserved another and all that jazz. “Maybe it’s a good thing you ended up with Aesop, beyond just being good for you that is. Might make those other relations fix up there acts a little,” He made the assumption that others people Cindy knew would know of Aesop. Kurios had Riyo to talk to Kashya about, even if Ryo didn’t want to say much, so his first thought was that she had some comrade to speak with.

Kashya’s eyes widened in wonder, and at the idea that man became godlike. Once he had explained it in more detail...It sort of made sense. Like how a drop of water raised the tide, like the flap of a butterfly’s wing became the southerly winds, it was just sort. ‘and that is the way it is’ Her wonderings would only be silenced by seeing these ‘cards’ herself. And to see what sort of magic they held. Softly, Kashya picked up her beads again, threading a few more of different colours on without too much thought. “I’d like to know more about the arcane,” She admitted to Aesop. “If it didn’t inconvenience you that was,” she added hesitantly, not wishing to force it on him.

Cindy giggled at the private jet comment, but automatically clammed up at the mention of 'those other relations'. Her smile faded out, face turned toward a more serious output. "Actually, I'd rather not see any of their goddamn faces again." It was a matter-of-fact tone, but if one listened closely, there was a soft anger present. "I have no desire to end up like my dad... Being mooched off of until there's nothing left."

"Besides, I think if they saw me again, they'd probably kill me." The anger faded out, and a glint of fear appeared in her eyes. "Funny thing about having the last word. It might feel good after a little while... But you start regretting it the more you think about it.". Before she ran away that faithful night, she'd dropped off letters to the 'family' she left in the dust. If those nieces got ahold of her, she was as good as dead. How dare she tell the truth to everyone.

Aesop watched in silence at her thoughts and looks of bewilderment. It was a great feeling... To be able to amaze someone with a story, or previously acquired knowledge. "I'd be happy to tell you about the rest..." He also picked up his beads again, looking down at them to see where he left off. "But it would probably be better if I had the cards to show you while I explained." Too bad Cindy didn't carry the cards around like she used to.

Kurios didn't want to insault her by feeling pity for Cindy, but as someone whose own pains where far and few between, he knew little of what it meant to distance himself from his family. Kurios was never the type who liked living by himself, it was one of the reasons he was able to put up with Ryo. While putting up with his antics could by an annoyance, he would rather know he was being annoyd by someone, than sitting at home by himself. But now he had Kashya...

"That's the way the cookie crumbles," He said, closing the subject on that. His guest shouldn't have to dwell on such things when in his company, that would make him a bad host. "Speaking of which, perhaps we should get some food into us?" He replied, stepping into the open kitchen.

"Maybe Cindy would let you show them to me someday," She replied, thinking of what sort of design these cards might have. Pictures, text, both? "Can you tell the future with them?" She replied, allowing some of her curiosity to come out.

The unexpected change of subject made Cindy sigh in relief. "Oooh. What are you making?" Her eyes were wide at the mention of food. Especially home cooked food. That sounded amazing right now. She hadn't had a decent meal since the last time she saw her Grandma. Since no one else in her family actually knew how to cook... Including her.

"I think she will." Aesop quickly responded to Kashya's thought. As for telling the future, well... "In a sense, I suppose they do. But nothing specific. That's why they can easily be passed as nothing more than coincidence..." Did he believe they worked? Well, he was skeptical. But it was the way he was. Anything not proven fact he wasn't sure about. A little closed-minded, yes. But he was a child. And that was the excuse to get away with anything, wasn't it?

Kurios smiled, looking into the fridge and pushing it closed with a heavy thud. "Nothing very exciting," He replied sheepishly. "Wern't expecting anyone over, so leftovers was on the menu, but I don't mind cooking something fresh at all. I'm sure Kashya would appreciate it actually. Left overs never taste the same as the original meal," He popped a cling wrap covered bowl on the bench top, displaying a half filled bowl of creamy potato bake and side serve of vegetables. It would still taste alright, and even look okay once heated up.

Kashya's face reddned a little at his response, realising she hadn't phrased her quetion correctly. "I meant can Aesop tell the future with them?" The feeling of foolishness barly showing on her tan complexion. "But I guess that answers anyway," Personally, Kashya hadn't made her judgment yet on if things ruled them or not. She didn't feel wise enough to make such large questions yet. But if she could have a chance to glimpse at things in her future...everyone might be a little interested.Though something seems to tell her astrology might be a bit more acurate than it was given. even if most seemd to think it the most unreliable.

"Anything is good right now. I don't mind eating leftovers. It's better to not let food go bad." And it wasn't like he knew until a few minutes before that she was coming over. He didn't have to make anything fresh for her or Aesop. The fact that it was real food pretty much outweighed everything else.

"M-me?" Aesop stuttered and blinked. Well... He hadn't actually tried. Since.. He wasn't sure whether he believed in them or not. "I dunno if I could... I've only looked at the cards a few times. But... I don't think so. Mother says if you really want something to work, you have to believe in it." He said with a bit of a sigh. Something about blind faith. What religions and fantasies were built on. Something he couldn't seem to muster.

"If it works for you, then it works for me,' He replied, sitting the bowl into a microwave and turning the dial for five minutes on high, picking out a set of plates to place on the side for when it was ready. An assortment of cutlery was fished out the draw as well. Forks and kinfes of different sized mostly. "I admit though, even under these odd circumstances, I'm glad to have made an aquaintence with you Cindy," He said casually, expressing his positive atitude. This was not only a chance for Kashya to meet people, but himself as well. He needed to expand his circle of friends anyway.

Kashya thought on the matter once more, unsure what to say. It made sence, to think of it that way. for, why would somone gift you with something you didn't belive in? It would only make the recipient undeserving of the gift really. "So more than just knowledge of how it works is needed then. Like how when we make chains, we need to both know how to make them, and be able to imagine what we want. Right?" She wanted to make sure she understood the concept.

"As am I to have made yours, Kurios." Cindy was in about the same position as far as friends went. There was Mir... And well, she'd lost contact with all her high school friends after she disappeared. Not that any of them were worth keeping anyways. Just a bunch of druggies who expected her to listen while they complained about their latest catch. So, this was nice.

"I wonder... What kind of surprises the future holds now..." She mumbled as sort of an afterthought. It was like fate. Every little thing that happened, did so with purpose. Aesop falling from the sky, meeting these people, experiencing new things. She had never been apt to change... But all this. All this was something she'd desperately needed. Because the silence that engulfed her for so long was maddening.

"Actually, that's the perfect way to describe it." Aesop was a little surprised, but she'd hit the nail on the head. Which brought up an interesting thought.

Knowledge isn't everything...

The boy froze as that short, yet revelational sentence echoed through his head. His eyes zoned out, his thoughts engulfed in something deeper...

A man. A man in all white. With blue eyes. He stood before him in a blizzard of snow. Aesop had never seen snow... But the texture and feel... It was like a long lost sibling.

And while the man's mouth moved, no words came out. Who... Who was this?

The microwave let of a high pitched noise as the timer ran out, and Kurios reached for the nearest tea towl to serve up the plates, checking size proportions as he went, to see if he was giving Cindy too much or too little. Before calling out to the two younger inhabitants of the house to come back out for dinner.

Kashya smiled, delighted that Aesop had found her analogy so perfect, until his appearence became silent as it had done previosuly. At hearing a calling for them, Kashya tied the last knot to finish her string and nudged Aesop on the wrist lightly placing her hand on it and moving it the same way one might jiggle a mouse, unsure what to do.

As soon as he was touched, the vision faded out. The man began walking away and the room slowly started to fade in. He looked up at Kashya, unsure of what had happened for a moment, but immediately stood up as he heard the call. "S-sorry about that." He commented as he walked with her into the dining room.

As Aesop entered the room, a smile automatically appeared on Cindy's face. "Did you two have fun?"

Aesop didn't hesitate to nod as he took a seat next to his mother. He had enjoyed the short time spent with Kashya. She was... Very interesting. And the fact that he got to answer questions made him feel... Satisfied.

Aesop got up abruptly, standing up in an easy movement and teh two walked back to sit next to each parental figure they knew most well. Kashya found Aesop a refreshing change from the limited interactions she had with Kurios and the in and outs of Riyo. To see someone as an equal and not as a protector was an enjoyable experiece and Aesop had been very pleasing to have as company. Kashya also nodded to back up Aesop's statement, before moving her cutlery over the meals Kurios had just laid in front of them each. It would be nice to see Aesop again, if at least so he could expand on the cards she had learnd of in the evening.

"I'm glad to see you're enjoying yourself," Kurios said, seeing the pairs nodds. This probably wasn't the last time he would see Cindy and her Boy.

Oh, how long it had been since Cindy had eaten a home cooked meal. Leftovers or not, it was... Wonderful. Even Aesop seemed amazed by it. Since most of what Cindy made was macaroni or those hamburger helper meals.

After dinner, Cindy stood and smiled. "As nice as this visit was, it looks like it's time to go before we overstay our welcome."

She motioned for Aesop to stand and placed her trusty hat atop her head once more. "Don't worry though. It shouldn't be too long before you see us again." If not for Aesop's sake, then because she enjoyed talking to Kurios. He was a good man. And, in small ways, he reminded her of someone... She just couldn't put her finger on who.

Aesop stood and followed Cindy, but paused as he was about to pass Kashya. "I'll make sure to bring those cards next time." A little smile appeared on his face before he continued to follow the blonde-haired girl out and back to their car. Homeward bound it was.
