my theroy about god is that he is like schrodingers cat he exists yet he does not exist at the same time and because of this fact he works on a much higher scale than any human can comprehend and understand in fact i belive ALL religona have a grainf of truth just as in all lie's there is a part truth i mean look at all of todays religons each has some commonalitys especially the big trifecta islam, judaism and christanity they all have enough common elements that to belive that all these pepole are just insane is ludicrous

Man, we are all lucky that he is NOT 'sleeping'. If he were not present, all the world would literally be consumed with an unimaginable evil. When I say this, I don't just mean there'll be constant war and havok, but all the good and light things in life would evaporate. Too many lives, events, deeds--too much love is in the world to think that God is not present. He is with us. Count on that.

Well by your logic I should be completely consumed in evil. Have you truly lived in this world? Or are you one of those home schooled Christians that never leave their house except to go to church and the YMCA? Trust me, nobody at church is as real as you think they are, they have hateful thoughts, they've had homicidal dreams, they've gone binge drinking, experimented with drugs, just because you don't see something doesn't mean it doesn't happen. This world is consumed by negative events, thoughts, people, you name it. And the world is in constant war, not everyone in it is involved, but there is always a war somewhere.

Did you even read what I typed??? I never said the world is perfect. Yes, everyone can agree that there is evil in everyone, that no one is perfect. That's the whole point. We are not complety consumed by it either. You've laughed once in your life, right? If God were sleeping, you wouldn't even have that. Every good time is a result of him protecting us from this evil. I'm not sheltered as you so blatently assume. My family beleives how important it is to know of the evil in the world. I've seen the 9/11 videos. I lived less than an hour away from the Pentagon when it was hit. My friends have had difficult problems in there lives, as well as I. And I know that war is a constant factor on a worldly stand point (my point earlier was that everyone would endure it to the extreme, not just some at a time). It doesn't mean that we are 100% pure evil. We are ever more trying to fix things, and even though we can't do it all by ourselves, we atleast try. To say god is not present is to say that NOTHING in this world is good.

I like your theory however what about the 7th day? Plus the whole story of Adam and Eve. Adam at least (since Eve doesn't seem to do anything) was in charged of naming the animals and he used to talk and walk with God. So yeah. That would mean that Adam and Eve lived for billions of years with just God until they sinned. Which then sparks the debate in why didn't they have children in all that time? I mean didn't God tell them to breed before the sin?

Yeah you made a pretty good theory but I have to agree. I think God pretty active.

Ok here's what I think.

God is not asleep. He doesn't need to sleep. Jesus couldn't be God. He is God's son. We all are too, but Jesus was the only one who remembered heaven.

Also, God likes to let everything play itself out. To see how it turns out. He can't make miracals happen every other day. The Bible, New Testament, Old Testament, and Book Of Mormon (yes I am Mormon, we aren't evil and we don't think we're perfect get over it) are spanned out over thousands and thousands of years.

Bottom line, God is not sleeping, Jesus isn't God, and you just think that miracals should happen every week as a sign that God exsists.

I somehow disagree.
I don't get you, you say he can't make miracles then you say he can well what is it he can't or could?
I am christian, and i believe he can do miracles.

Oh, and one thing, try to correct your spelling before you post.

My "God is Asleep" Theory
Or, "Even if There is a God We're ******** Anyway"

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
2 Peter 3:8

Being an avid reader of science and of religious materials I have formulated a theory of God and why he doens't seem to have been present in the world for a long long time.

Scientifically the age of the Earth is guessed to be about 5-6 billion years old. The Bible maintains that the Earth was created in 6 days. Many people have suggested that a "day" to God may be more than the 24 hour period that we humans have designated. So let's say that a day to God is a billion years. This way Christians and science can be in harmony.

Now if you read the Old Testament, you'll see that plenty of people got to speak to God, or at least an incarnation of God. Abraham, Solomon, Job and Moses to name a few. Then Jesus came along and he was God. And as far as I can tell nothing since. Or at least anyone who has claimed to have spoken directly to God since then has generally been burned at the stake or had tanks come and shoot fire into their compound. So Jesus was the last time God has been seen in the world. Since he spoke to people we can also say that is the last time God has spoken to anyone in the world or been seen in the world at all.

Now, the bible isn't clear as to when exactly the sixth day ended. But what if, and I think this makes a certain amount of sense, the day Jesus died was midnight on the sixth day for God? I mean clearly if Jesus was God he wasn't resting when Jesus was alive. Jesus walked around and preformed miracles, which I hear are very tiresome, and of course crucifixion is no picnic. So after Jesus dies, comes back and leaves again, God thinks, "Well my work there is done, all men are saved, I think I'll have a sandwich and call it a day." So he goes to take his nap.

So we know that was somewhere close to 2000 years ago. The Bible seems to indicate that God is going to rest for the whole day. A day to God is a billion years. So 1,000,000,000 - 2000 = 999,998,000 years until we can expect God to wake up. Until then we're alone. Sucks doesn't it?

Not sure if your still on gaia so here goes.

half of what you said made sense and it is interesting to believe that gods day are not measured in hours but years. but i still do not believe in god. but i think that if there is a god we can expect to see him in the next 300 years with the way human kind is going
