Tagalog is interesting. I once dabbled in it, but I kinda got bored with it. Through Tagalog I was introduced to Indonesian, which I luff.

That there is some ol' fasioned prescriptivism. It isn't wrong, its different. The ideal standard speech and actual spoken language are never the same in any language, and shouldn't need to be mutually exclusive. Well, they aren't actually, but people get the idea that they are and get really uptight about proper usage of things. (Not that you are doing that, really.)
