"I don't feel things, because I have no heart. Now that's a good power, don't you think? Truly delightful!"
Falx watched the sparks crackled between the mirror-like surface of the lake, and his outstretched claws. Perhaps he might kill a fish. Perhaps not.
"I don't know how anyone could appreciate this beautiful day with emotions fogging up their vision. It sounds horrid."
The kit wrinkled his nose in distaste, before looking back over his shoulder at Axis.
"Do you feel things?"

No heart. Yes, momma had mentioned that, and Axis had realized her siblings had no heartbeat, no pulse, unlike their mother. However, most of them did have emotions...most of the time. There were slight exceptions of course.
Emotions, to Axis, were quite normal, actually. And she didn't think of why they could be horrid. It was after that she realized why she had felt so strange around him; it was because she had sensed no emotions unlike those she were usually around.
"Well..." She said carefully. "I don't really understand when people shout at each other. I get this sort of...unhappiness, no, it seems stronger than that, when they do. It's like a burning, raging thing. I've never felt it before. And sometimes, I sense this sort of immense dislike...it's very strange." Axis had never felt anger, or hate before, so it was puzzling to her when others around the empath did.

"Yes! Exactly! That proves my point. You are the most brilliant butterfly that I have ever met."
The compliments came easily to him, but an empath like Axis was bound to feel that there was no emotional weight behind them. Falx was not excited. Nor was he especially pleased or displeased. He simply was.
Falx's cute pink body was only a shell for the great, gaping void within him.
"Emotions are complicating and uncontrollable. Horrid."
He flicked his ears back, smiling winsomely.
"Do you feel them for yourself, or only in other kitsu?"

It was strange, yes. Even though she felt the same around her father, they were usually surrounded by other kitsusagi, such as her mother, her siblings, and her Uncle Edgeworth, Aunt Kitsumi and many others, that it usually made her hard to concentrate on one entity alone.
"Well, momma is an empath. So, I guess I have her powers too, so I can feel other's emotions." She paused. "But I do feel some emotions too." She was after all, half-Nobody.

"Ah. My condolences."
Falx spread his forepaws in apology. He appeared utterly sincere in his concern for her welfare, yet she could still sense no more from him that she could from the rocks and the trees.
"But I dare say say the power suits you. Shall I bring the lady more flowers to make up for my rudeness?"

To her, it was rather ironic. Being part Nobody, yet able to sense other's emotions. If only she knew Xanul had that problem during the full moon; as his Nobody side emerged, so did his empath powers. However, the issue of the moon had been kept secret from her.
"It's okay really. I've kinda gotten used to it." She smiled gently.

"Your smile would warm my heart, if I had one."
Falx attempted to pick a daisy for her, only to fry it into a daisy-shaped crisp.
Oops.
"I dare say I should go speak to Mumsy about this. I'll find you those flowers later, shall I?"
He shook his shaggy bangs out of his eyes, winked at Axis, and then started up the mountain path.

He was being very flattering, and even though she knew he didn't exactly mean it, she didn't hold it against him. She knew it was because she couldn't. What was that mother had said? Something about her not expecting Saix to actually love her, or along those lines.
"It's okay about the flowers." She said. "Though, you do need to talk about your parents about your powers."
