Well, as a gay man, I have definitely been hearing a lot of talk about this subject, as well as other subjects pertaining to the LGBT community, and I personally think that they should be allowed into the army, although if the draft ever comes back then for my sake, I hope they won't be allowed. >.< On a serious note though, In think it's very dangerous for gay men to be in the army, because, as you can see in the poll on the first page of this forum, not everyone thinks gay men should be allowed into the army, thus, if you ARE a gay man in the army, some people might have a problem with you being there.I personally have been raped because people had a problem with my sexuality, and if you even THINK about feeling sorry for me, I'll chop off whatever genitalia that the good lord gave you.So yes, I think they should be allowed, but they definitely need to be cautious about single minded people that very probably will have a problem with it.
I also think that the generals need to be wore wary of the danger facing the gay men of the army.Almost every woman to join the army has been either raped, or sexually harassed on multiple occasions. So it is definitely something that people will have to watch out for.

I just finished training at Fort Knox and I was shocked to see some huge flamers that were there. It didn't really cause any kind of problem but it was kinda weird at times. I suppose 2 guys can get in just as much trouble as a girl & a guy in the army. Besides, once you finish training, as long as it's kept in your personal life no one really cares. :3

Hey, if someone wants to go and fight in a war, risk life and limb, and experience the hell of combat, it shouldn't matter what their sexual orientation is.

Zorlock Darksoul I don't see any reason to keep gays out of the military. The main argument against it that I've heard is that people are afraid it would be "distracting" to have gay guys serve with them. Some senator or another was describing a scene in which men had to huddle together for warmth at night during a mission, and he was afraid there would be "arousal" if gays were mixed into that. They're making it sound like gay people can't control their sexual urges, like they'd be trying to bang every soldier in the unit, and that's just ridiculous. These little knights... I'm sorry, but I just want to punch this senator. When you're in a combat situation you're not thinking, "Oh boy. I wanna tap that piece of meat right there next to me." No, you're thinking about your life, the life of the man next to you, and the life of your group. Last thing you got on your mind is sex. ...will rock your world

Dysfunctional Design creaper; Your example about precision tactics in the military isn't exactly an argument in your favor. If enemy countries in a war think that we have gone soft for allowing homosexuals into our army, wouldn't that mean they'll underestimate us and be blown halfway to hell before they realize they were wrong?I lol'd at bold. I think it's fine for them to join. Even though they're gay they're still, technically a guy and has a strength of a guy. My opinion, somewhat. They just love another guy, what's wrong with THAT?

One of the most asinine arguments the homophobic side has is that if there are gays mixed in with the straights in the barracks or trenches, all they'll be thinking about is sucking the c**k of the soldier next to them. Or checking out their asses. Or starting an unholy gay orgy. You know, as if someone gets turned on while there are explosions and people dying all around, as if every gay man finds every man they see attractive.
Those are ******** dumb arguments (all of them are), they don't belong in an intellectual environment, that side doesn't have a leg to stand on, so they make s**t up as they go.
So yes, they should be able to join. There is no logical reason why they shouldn't. Just hateful, uninformed, moronic excuses.

If someone's willing to serve and die for their country they should be allowed to. Sexuality has nothing to do with it.
The argument that the gays guys will always be checking out and hitting on all the other dudes is one of the dumbest. That's like saying that because I'm a straight female I'm always trying to get with every single man I meet. Um, hell no!
Also, saying gay men tend to be effeminate (or worse, saying they all are) is very ignorant. As is treating being 'effeminate' like it's a bad thing, because it's saying that being 'like a woman' is a bad thing. (And I say 'like a woman' because trying to define what 'being a woman' is brings on another load of stereotypes and debates.)

A Faerie Okay lately I've heard that people are debating about gay men being able to join the army. People against it would usually say that it would be awkward for other soldiers and cause problems. Also we all know that gay men can be..femine. Anywayz..personally I think gay men should be able to join the army..I mean if they pass their training then they should be able to be in the army. And if one gay man starts hitting on another, then the other man can just file a complaint. IT'S CALLED SEXUAL HARRASSMENT PEOPLE! AND IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYBODY XDSo what are you views on all this? Should they be able to join the army??? i don't see the problem with it lol i am joining the navy. i would have no problem with it lol mas long as they don't make a move on me lol. besides gays have a good seance of humour lol

They can join, they just can't be open about it. "Don't ask, don't tell." I personally don't like the fact that homosexuals have to hide it. They are born with the same rights as everyone else and shouldn't be judged of their sexual preferences. If they let ***** in then there should definitely be no reason to bar the homosexuals. (Yes, there are ***** in the military, including a man who was recently arrested for it on the base where I live.) There are rapists, alcholics, drug users, and abusers in the military (please note these are small groups and do not reflect the whole). What is so much better about these men and women than homosexuals?

kuro-uchi Don't ask Don't tell, done But there shouldn't be a 'Don't ask Don't tell' policy. A person shouldn't have to hide their sexuality to join the army. They should have the right to be opening homosexual and still be enlisted.
