Dreadful Weather: Pilkiras Plain
For months now, he had waited at a great distance, watching over his beloved from afar. Certainly, he had not selected her of his own free will, but rather, fate brought the two together in a ritual as old as time (or so the Pokemon imagined). However, months of observation from afar revealed much to the icy bird. Despite it being a HOT summer day, the Articuno circled in the air out of the sight of all while keeping a sharp eye on his mate.
This human, who went by LizDuck, would have made a lovely mate, had she not been of another species. Her plumage (hair) was a dingy color that wasn't attractive at all, and she decorated herself with colors that weren't very pleasing to his eyes. Humans were such ugly looking creatures, and their rituals were very foreign, even after months of observation. However, his mate, despite being so horridly displeasing when it came to aesthetics had a most excellent singing voice, which was a highly prized skill amongst his own kind. That, and she seemed kind to all she met, friendly, and truly affectionate to those who were close to her.
If only the ice bird could remain closer. The freeze Pokemon felt a pang of loneliness pierce through his heart as he thought about the distance he had been keeping.
Circling through a cloud that seemed to sag due to the heat, the Articuno felt as if his wings were melting like the wax wings of Icarus. The weather led his mind to wander to cursing the season of the year. If only his mate had wings and could migrate with him as the season of winter fled from the region, then he would not feel such discomfort. Such heat only reminded him of the roasted chicken (aka, Moltres) that he used to hang around with.
His mind dwindled further with another circle within the cloud as he thought of the duo which he had spent time with. The Moltres and the Zapdos. They had parted several years ago, but their brotherhood bonds could not be broken by mere time. This was how things were meant to be in order to maintain balance in the world. A balance that humans could not even begin to understand. The Articuno still could not help but wonder if either of his brothers had managed to settle down where he himself had (somewhat) failed to do so.
The heat was beginning to become a bit too unbearable. If it had been closer to the correct season, snow or hail might have been a logical choice. However, with it being summer, the only choice was a simple Rain Dance. Narrowing his circles into tight little loops, the Articuno completed the "dance" and the cloud he was in darkened and began to leak of rain. Wanting to cool off, he drifted down slightly below the cloud and allow his feathers to all get drenched with the lukewarm waters.
If anyone on the ground had been looking up at the sky, they might have seen the blurry vision of an Articuno. However, those few people who might have been lucky enough to spot such would have blamed it as a figment of their imagination.
After all, why in the world would an Articuno be out in the month of August?
