This place was too quiet to be a club. Most clubs were active at night and this one was damn near dead almost every time Red decided to come out and show herself. Naturally, she wondered if there was ever a time when people showed up without him. She was much too tired with being civil in his presence.

"So tell me more about Lord Ganesh. He is the god of overcoming obstacles and a purveyor of knowledge and education? Can he help one overcome all obstacles, or just those related to education?" The red tresses and soft voice entered the threshold of the slowly opening doorway to let in a rather formally dressed red, wearing a blue kimono robe traditionally fitted. Her eyes scanned the place quickly and she sent a mana sweep throughout the adjacent lounge room. Nothing. Might as well get comfortable.

It was Red, she could feel her as she entered the room. "Lord Ganesh is a god of education, yes... but he is also the lord of obstacles, he can place them in your path as easily as he can banish them from." She really never had any idea how to react with Red, she didn't want to trust anyone after what had happened before, but she loved Red. She wore the tattered remains of the dress she had worn when she first met Red, she was just feeling so nostalgic...

"Why do you ask?"

"Lord Ganesh speaks to me." The silence threatened to consume as soon as she finished speaking, as though daring anyone to utter another sound. For a moment she thought about whether she should say more or not. Why the girl had insisted on wearing that old dress was beyond her. It had been at least a few months now and Red had purchased an entire separate wardrobe to suit her. There were times that the ruby kitsune had to go and pick out what the girl wore just to be sure she didn't dress down or up too much. It didn't upset her, but she found it slightly frustrating from time to time.

"I only knew one faith before we met and it wasn't exactly my forte. If Lord Ganesh can prove a better spiritual host to me than God, then I'd much rather not miss the opportunity."

"But Ganesh is God... why do you refer to them differently? He speaks to you?" She was so confused... when did Red start exploring hinduism? Was it because of that man Keno had brought down from the mountains... What was his name? "Ganesh is one of the most worshipped gods in India. He is provider of many things. He is god of success, prosperity, intellect and wisdom. He is a celibate god with much spiritual power."

"You mistake my God with yours. When I say God, I don't mean the recognized collective of Hindu monotheism. God refers to the Christian idea of the divine. I will not call Ganesh God. I will call him Ganesh." She took a seat at the bar, lifting the material of her robe just slightly as she placed herself firmly on a stool. Strict intensity flared in her eyes as she spoke, showing her reverence for the one with the elephant head.

"When I say he speaks to me, I don't mean directly. I mean that the idea of Lord Ganesh has a profound effect on my mental and spiritual self. His image and his name draws me in like a whirlpool." She knew a little yes, and she had a few experiences, but her knowledge was lacking. What Aasritha said was true. Lord Ganesh was highly praised, but she found little literary text on him, which suggested most things about him were passed down.

"I wish not to argue with you, Red." She understood what Red was saying, but at the same time to Aasritha all the Gods, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, they were all the same. Each wearing a different face to appeal to different people but all of them were God. However, Red frightened her so she wished not to bring this up. She walked up to but stopped once she reached Red. As intimidating as Red was, she was slightly wary of approaching her.

"I see. Sri Ganesh is truly a powerful God. If you wish we can travel back to India where I can bring you with me to one of his many temples. I know only so much about him though I know the priests can answer your questions. Besides, if you wish to know if Ganesh truly speaks to you, the best place to ask him is in his home." India... Part of her didn't want to go, but part of her wanted to show Red everything.

"Okay fine," she answered as she rose to her feet rather suddenly. It was as though some profound decision were just made. He tail flicked like a whip and her hair bounced as her feet touched the floor with a light tap. "Do not fear voicing your opinions with me. I'm not so petty as to harm someone for disagreeing with me...most times."

Slowly she advanced back for the front doors, her visit very short as usual and with little accomplished, but she would rather keep moving else she become bored and tired.

"We'll head for India the day after tomorrow. You'll be in charge of the luggage. Make sure all necessities are packed and organized. I don't want any fuss in the airports. Don't forget to make hotel reservations, or if those aren't necessary, be sure to prepare a decent budget and then add on another 15% for emergencies. Be sure that I have more than just one sari to approach Lord Ganesh in at each temple, and be sure that we also pay homage to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati as well."

No sooner had she finished speaking than she was almost completely out the door. Aasritha was expected to follow without being told out of common sense alone. Red was her ride back home. The easy ride anyway. She could always walk if she wanted. Actually Red would not hear for it, but showing too much weakness made people believe you were a pushover. She wouldn't tolerate that.

It the quiet of the arena, Jedi Knight Valin Lobel sat. He wore little - the simple tan pants, dark brown boots, and belt of his Jedi apparel. His shirts and cloak were off to the side.

Slowly, he stood - his eyes still closed. Some feet away, the assassin droid HK-47 stood in silent observation. As Valin arose, the droid moved closer in a mechanical stride. It raised its right hand up, weapon in hand - a lightsaber.

The crimson blade ignited in a snap-hiss as the droid built to kill made the final steps, swinging the blade down at Valin.

But the Jedi would not die in such a way. His eyes-closed, and lost in the Force, Valin's silver blade met the droid's red.

The droid backed away, dodging the counter-strike coming from Valin. The two stood facing at one another. HK-47 calculated and pondered the most efficient and deadly movements to make. Valin did not even may the droid mind, his will lost into the mystical energy field.

The droid ran forward, raining lightning fast blows that only a machine could perform. Valin, however, met him blow for blow. The droid pressed his attack but Valin did not waiver, he did not falter. He didn't even move his feet.

The speed and fury of the droid's attacks increased even further, to the point that the spinning and movement of silver and red looked like a light show - not a battle where the slightest mistake meant death.

Valin stood his ground, his eyes closed - the look on his face seemed to show no effort. It looked as if he was at peace, not the stress of doing battle.

It was because he was at peace. Having abandoned himself into the Force, he would see the droid's movements... eons before it made them. Valin couldn't sense HK-47 in the Force directly - it wasn't alive. However, he could feel the energy inside. The electric 'pulse', the heat of its energy core, the 'firing of synapses' in its artifical brain.

Valin suddenly jumped back, kicking HK-47 back enough to allow him to do a complete backflip.

As he landed, the machine was right on him. Valin throw away his lightsaber hilt and it bounced once and deactivated, rolling out of the arena.

HK-47 was now truly into this battle. While Valin had disabled the droid's own protocol that it couldn't kill its own master - its 'heart' wasn't into the battle until now. Because thus far - Valin had bested it. And that hurt the droid's ego.

Valin dodge the attacks like an expert. Using the skills of the Vaapad lightsaber combat form, he seemed to leave desirable openings to be exploited. That was a trap and a trick. These free-wheeling, open movements seemed random, unpredicated but were under full control of the Jedi.

Vaapad bordered the edge of Dark Side. When a Jedi used Vaapad, they opened the very gates that restrained their own darkness. To master, you had to enjoy the fight, must give yourself over to the thrill of battle, the rush of winning. By doing so, you didn't use your own darkness - you channeled it away and used it as a reflecting device against your opponent. It was dangerous - if a Jedi didn't have absolute control, they would end up using the Dark Side, not reflecting it away as a tool of the Light. And then, Vaapad would master you.

The Jedi jumped as the red blade attempted to slice him in two at the waist. As soon as he landed, he grabbed HK-47's right hand - and held it. Eye's closed, he swept his left leg under the droid. However, the machine compensated by landing on its left arm and sweeping Valin's legs out from under him. As the Jedi went down, he let go of HK-47's right arm... freeing him up to try slice him in half again.

As the blade came down to stab into him, the Jedi - eyes still closed - rolled away and jumped up with a backflip. The droid, recovering quickly, would have stabbed into Valin had he not cartwheeled out of the way. Again, HK-47 - fast as lightning - was on Valin again.

Jedi dodged, droid attacked.

This carried on until Valin finally reached into the Force. He sensed the ancient wear-and-tear of the 4,000-or-so-year-old droid. With a simple push and pull, HK-47's hand sprung open. It all ended so fast that it took a second for both to realize what had happened.

Both realized that Valin was crouched somwhat, holding the butt of the lightsaber hilt against HK-47's chest with the blade still lit. His eyes were open finally.

"Admission: For a meatbag, your skills are... compendable," HK-47 painfully admitted. It was like someone was pulling out his motherboard or something.

Valin was breathing heavily, catching his breath. But a big smile was across his face, "For a droid... your skills are... rusty."

"Statement: I hate you... Master."

Aasritha was completely shocked by her abrubtness. She was still completely taken aback by the way Red presented herself to the world. Was she really so cold, so calculating... so emotionless?

"Yes, Red. I'll finish everything by tomorrow evening. It will be best to purchase the saris in India. Then, you can wear them for the first time on the day you go to Temples, the gods will be most pleased then. The tickets will be a bit expensive, but everything else should be fine."

She had started to follow Red out the door but once she stepped outside she couldn't help but notice the sky. It was beautiful. The stars were like diamond dust thrown carelessly across the sky. They reminded her of the pure Indian skies. Not littered by street lights. Simply the night sky in all its glory. She decided that she would not follow Red. Red was so kind to her but at the same time... She just wanted to be alone tonight. She wanted to climb up a tall tree and sleep there for the night, admiring the stars. She would be going back home in a matter of days now. Home...
