YEA BASSOONISTS!!!! Yeah, I'm in pit, but I get to play gong, bass drum, load things, which is amazing I might add!!!!! It's so nice to get anger out by baning something! 4laugh

but yea oboe and english horn are my main insterments and I play clarinet in marching band

earringfetish i'm a piccolo for marching season-i'm playing bassoon for our concert band (it's the lower one) while doing flute and picc for symphonic...i love bassoon so much. it's almost as tall as i am too, sadly enough... and if one girl doesn't come back to do symphonic, i'll be the ONLY bassoon in band at all. not good. There's only one in our band, and our band is 75+ people. OF course, there's about 20 saxes, 15 clairnets, 10 flutes, 1 oboe (MEH), 1 french horn, and I don't even know how many of everything else...but It's not very hard to be by yourself...

i play flute/[iccolo in marching band but i play oboe in concert. this is my first year on oboe in concert band cuz i was learning it last year...now i teach my best-friend because he wants to leave flute. Yay for converting the masses to double reeds!

My school is so weird. I was used to being the only bassoon for the longest time, and then I came here, and I was the only bassoon... but my band director got all excited cause she'd never had a bassoon before, and she was like "OMG TEACH THESE TWO HOW TO PLAY BASSOON!!!"
Now we have 6 bassoons in our Highschool band. FAR to many for our band's size.
but hey, I still get to have my "WHOO LOOK AT ME! i'm the only one on this instrument!" moments in Marcing band. I play electric bass pirate

I play English horn, too. razz @Badger1616 What show did you watch? Our band has an oboe soloist, too xD Although.. chances that the one you watched is ours is pretty slim.. Divine Comedy!

I've been teaching myself oboe since about February or March. I use a school oboe. I don't think I'm that horrible, but I'm not that great. Maybe I'll make a video of me playing and post it. =) During marching band I play piccolo (only one!), then in orchestra and concert band (which starts next week) I switch between flute and piccolo. In the orchestra version for Phantom of the Opera, I switch between flute and piccolo during the whole song. I really like it. I don't think I'm good enough to do oboe for concert band. My director said a bad oboe could just ruin the whole thing, but I could always try a few times and if it doesn't work out just keep doing flute and piccolo. I have fun with the oboe at home. =D

sugarnew182 Yeah, I play Bassoon and thought that we double reeds should have a place to talk. Question. What do you guys play during marching season. I play Mellophone. OMG WE ARE SOULMATES! lol jk? but ya i march mello <3333333 and i play oboe, & im learning bassoon... and trying to convince my mom to rent me an english horn so i can rock that too oh boy. <33333333333333
